-
(follicular lymphoma) A neoplasm of follicle centre B cells which has at least a partial follicular pattern. Follicular lymphomas comprise about 35% of adult non-Hodgkin lymphomas in the U.S. and 22% worldwide. Most patients have widespread disease at diagnosis. Morphologically, follicular lymphomas are classified as Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3, depending on the percentage of the large lymphocytes present. The vast majority of cases (70-95%) express the BCL-2 rearrangement [t(14;18)]. Histological grade correlates with prognosis. Grades 1 and 2 follicular lymphomas are indolent and grade 3 is more aggressive (adapted from WHO, 2001).NCI ThesaurusU.S. National Cancer Institute, 2021
-
(follicular lymphoma) A type of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (cancer of the immune system) that is usually indolent (slow-growing). The tumor cells grow as groups to form nodules. There are several subtypes of follicular lymphoma.NCI Dictionary of Cancer TermsU.S. National Cancer Institute, 2021
-
(follicular lymphoma) An indolent B cell lymphoproliferative disorder of transformed follicular center B cells. Follicular lymphoma is characterized by diffuse lymphadenopathy, bone marrow involvement, splenomegaly and less commonly other extranodal sites of involvement.Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO)The Human Phenotype Ontology Project, 2021

(follicular lymphoma) Follicular lymphoma is a form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by a proliferation of B cells whose nodular structure of follicular architecture is preserved.OrphaNetINSERM, 2021
-
Malignant lymphoma in which the lymphomatous cells are clustered into identifiable nodules within the LYMPH NODES. The nodules resemble to some extent the GERMINAL CENTER of lymph node follicles and most likely represent neoplastic proliferation of lymph node-derived follicular center B-LYMPHOCYTES.NLM Medical Subject HeadingsU.S. National Library of Medicine, 2021

Of the more than 66,000 cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) estimated to have been diagnosed in 2008 in the United States, 15-20% were follicular lymphomas. No sex preponderance is seen for follicular lymphomas, but the incidence increases with age and varies across racial groups.WebMD, 2019
