This species is ovoid or ellipsoidal shaped, arranged in single or pairs, ferments glucose and assimilates cellobiose but not galactose, sucrose, maltose, lactose, D-mannitol and D-glucitol, produces ascospores and utilizes thiamine, biotin and pyridoxine.
