A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram positive, cocci shaped bacteria in the phylum Firmicutes. This species is positive for catalase, urease and alkaline phosphatase and negative for coagulase and oxidase. It can ferment mannose, fructose, and arabinose but not cellobiose, fucose or xylitol.
