This article aimed to collectively present the demographic, clinical, radiographic and histopathological features as well as the treatment performed along with its outcome for all the cases of adenoid ameloblastoma with dentinoid (AAD) reported in scientific literature till date. Ameloblastoma and adenomatoid odontogenic tumours are the most common odontogenic neoplasms. However, AAD, a hybrid variant of the two lesions, is found to be extremely rare. The lesion comprises of characteristic histopathological features of ameloblastoma and adenomatoid odontogenic tumour and shares certain clinical characteristics with either of the entities. AAD may be considered to be present at the more aggressive end of spectrum of benign odontogenic neoplasms. Owing to the frequent tendency of the lesions to be underdiagnosed, careful histopathological screening of submitted biopsies is warranted. With the increase in number of reported cases in the recent years, it is likely to be included as a separate entity in the upcoming World Health Organization classification.

BACKGROUND
No practice guidelines have been established for swallowing outcomes after cricopharyngeal myotomy (CPM). The purpose of this systematic review was to summarize evidence for swallowing outcomes in patients undergoing CPM to treat symptomatic cricopharyngeal dysfunction, in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol.
METHODS
Swallowing outcomes examined included penetration/aspiration ratings, manometric measures, patient-rated dysphagia scales, clinician-rated dysphagia scales, diet level, and weight.
RESULTS
Three databases were queried for studies published between January 1995 and July 2015, resulting in a total of 122 full-text eligible records. Studies were screened and reviewed, culminating in 10 studies meeting inclusion criteria. Critical appraisal of study design, swallowing outcomes measures, and statistical analysis were summarized.
CONCLUSION
This systematic review revealed insufficient evidence for guiding clinical practice. Future investigations should use validated patient-rated and clinician-rated instruments as well as detailed high-resolution manometry measures to optimally capture postoperative swallowing outcomes.

Coblation is one of the more recent techniques for tonsillectomy; however, it remains unclear whether it exhibits any benefit or increased risk when compared to other techniques. This review provides an updated assessment of coblation tonsillectomy and how it compares to other tonsillectomy techniques. Systematic review and descriptive analysis of published literature. Electronic searches of MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science and the Cochrane Database were performed. We included all randomized control trials comparing coblation tonsillectomy (not 'tonsillotomy') with any other tonsillectomy technique. Studies were excluded if tonsils, rather than individuals, were randomized. 16 eligible studies were identified, including a total of 567 patients, both adults and children. Coblation was compared with a variety of other tonsillectomy techniques. Outcomes included pain, primary and secondary haemorrhage, intraoperative bleeding and operation time. Postoperative pain was the primary outcome in most studies. There was a trend towards less pain in the coblation group in seven of the included studies. More recent studies appeared to fare more favourably in terms of pain outcomes and operating time. The coblation technique appears to be comparable with other commonly employed techniques for tonsillectomy; however, there is still no strong evidence to suggest that it possesses any definitive benefits. Findings would advocate further work being done through carefully designed randomised control trials, which compare coblation with cold dissection as the 'gold standard' and place an emphasis on reducing the amount of adjuvant electrocautery used so as to maximise the benefits of coblation and the lower temperature it generates.

Oropharyngeal dysphagia is a condition characterized by swallowing difficulty in the mouth and pharynx, which can be due to various factors. Animal models of oropharyngeal dysphagia are essential to confirm the cause-specific symptoms, pathological findings, and the effect of treatment. Recently, various animal models of dysphagia have been reported. The purpose of this review is to organize the rodent models of oropharyngeal dysphagia reported to date. The articles were obtained from Medline, Embase, and the Cochrane library, and selected following the PRISMA guideline. The animal models in which oropharyngeal dysphagia was induced in rats or mice were selected and classified based on the diseases causing oropharyngeal dysphagia. The animal used, method of inducing dysphagia, and screening methods and results were collected from the selected 37 articles. Various rodent models of oropharyngeal dysphagia provide distinctive information on atypical swallowing. Applying and analyzing the treatment in rodent models of dysphagia induced from various causes is an essential process to develop symptom-specific treatments. Therefore, the results of this study provide fundamental and important data for selecting appropriate animal models to study dysphagia.

Three years into the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, there are still growing concerns with the emergence of different variants, unknown long- and short-term effects of the virus, and potential biological mechanisms underlying etiopathogenesis and increased risk for morbidity and mortality. The role of the microbiome in human physiology and the initiation and progression of several oral and systemic diseases have been actively studied in the past decade. With the proof of viral transmission, carriage, and a potential role in etiopathogenesis, saliva and the oral environment have been a focus of COVID-19 research beyond diagnostic purposes. The oral environment hosts diverse microbial communities and contributes to human oral and systemic health. Several investigations have identified disruptions in the oral microbiome in COVID-19 patients. However, all these studies are cross-sectional in nature and present heterogeneity in study design, techniques, and analysis. Therefore, in this undertaking, we (a) systematically reviewed the current literature associating COVID-19 with changes in the microbiome; (b) performed a re-analysis of publicly available data as a means to standardize the analysis, and (c) reported alterations in the microbial characteristics in COVID-19 patients compared to negative controls. Overall, we identified that COVID-19 is associated with oral microbial dysbiosis with significant reduction in diversity. However, alterations in specific bacterial members differed across the study. Re-analysis from our pipeline shed light on Neisseria as the potential key microbial member associated with COVID-19.

PURPOSE
To define the oncologic outcomes and the prognostic factors of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal lymphoepithelial carcinoma (LEC).
METHODS
A systematic review and individual patient data analysis were performed according to the PRISMA guidelines. A total of 41 patients (males: 37; mean age: 63.1, standard deviation: 10.0) were included.
RESULTS
The median follow-up time was 36.0 months (interquartile range, IQR: 11.5-73.5), while the median overall survival (OS) time was 96 months (IQR: 39.0-120.0). Estimated disease-specific survival (DSS) rates (95% Confidence Interval, CI; number still at risk) at 1, 3, and 5 years were 94.4% (79.5-98.6; 31), 82.7% (62.7-92.5; 21), and 78.1% (56.8-89.7; 13), respectively. Estimated disease-free survival (DFS) rates (95% CI; number still at risk) at 1, 3, and 5 years were 92.1% (77.4-97.4; 31), 74.9% (55.6-86.8; 21), and 66.6% (46.1-80.8; 13), respectively. Patients undergoing primary surgery had a reduced chance of death from cancer than patients receiving primary radiotherapy (5-year DSS 85.6 vs. 56.2%; p = 0.04), while EBV positivity tend to be a negative prognostic factor (5-year DSS 100 vs. 66.7%; p = 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
Laryngeal and hypopharyngeal LEC is a rare disease with favorable survival. Further prospective multicenter studies are needed to make a reliable statement on prognosis and outcome, stratifying patients for different therapy regimens and tumor stages.

Tonsillectomy as Prevention of Tonsil and Base of Tongue Cancer: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis on the Immuno-Oncological Effect of One Among the Most Common Surgeries in the World.
Otorhinolaryngology tradition is that tonsillectomy (TE) is conducted among children and adolescents for obstructive sleep apnea secondary to adenotonsillar hypertrophy and in adults for chronic disease of the tonsils and adenoids (recurrent tonsillitis). Nevertheless, over the last 50 years, we have observed a decline in TE worldwide. As a result, there is an emerging concern of a correlated possible increased risk of tonsil cancer (TC) and other subtypes of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Since the available data on such topics are limited and controversial, our aim was to elucidate the impact of TE on the incidence mainly of TC through a systematic review of the literature and a meta-analysis of the studies. After a thorough search, 7 retrospective studies were considered eligible for review and meta-analysis (MA). At MA, patients with a history of TE seem to show a reduced risk of TC but a higher predisposition for base of tongue (BOT) cancer (p<0.001): however, the elevated heterogeneity of the studies hampers drawing firm and convincing conclusions (statistical inconsistency >95%). In future, randomized control trials will be welcome to elucidate the prophylactic role of TE against TC and its real impact on BOT cancer.

The inflammatory diseases of the nose, rhino-pharynx and paranasal sinuses (allergic and non allergic rhinitis, NARES; rhinosinusitis with/without nasal polyposis, adenoidal hypertrophy with/without middle ear involvement) clinically manifest themselves with symptoms and complications severely affecting quality of life and health care expenditure. Intranasal administration of corticosteroids, being fast, simple, and not requiring cooperation, is the preferred way to treat the patients, to optimize their quality of life, at the same time minimizing the risk of exacerbations and complications. Among the different topical steroids available on the market, we performed a comparative analysis in terms of effectiveness and safety between mometasone furoate (MF) and its main competitors. Searching through Pub Med and Google Scholar and using as entries "mometasone furoate", "rhinitis", "sinusitis", "asthma", "polyposis", "otitis media with effusion", and "adenoid hypertrophy" we found 344 articles, 300 of which met the eligibility criteria. Taking into account relevance and date of publication, a sample of 40 articles was considered for the review. MF effectiveness for treatment and/or prophylaxis of nasal symptoms in seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis has been fully established with a level of evidence Ia. Even though it has not been assessed for MF in particular, topical steroids are the most appropriate treatment in mixed rhinitis and NARES. In acute rhinosinusitis (ARS) evidences support their use as mono-therapy or as adjuvant to antibiotics for reducing the recurrence rate, and decrease the usage of related prescriptions and medical consultations. In chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) with Nasal polyposis, MF reduces polyps size, nasal congestion, improves quality of life and sense of smell and it is also effective in the treatment of daytime cough. The topical use of MF has great efficacy in the management of adenoidal hypertrophy and otitis media of atopic children. As regards the safety, MF has demonstrated an excellent safety profile: pregnant women can safely use it; no systemic effects on growth velocity and adrenal suppression have been shown; no changes in epithelial thickness or atrophy have been observed after long term administration of the drug.
CONCLUSIONS
MF has been demonstrated to be effective in the treatment of the inflammatory diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses; when compared to its competitors it shows a greater symptom control; it is a reliable treatment in the long term thanks not only to its proven efficacy, but also to its safety being on the market since more than 17 years.

OBJECTIVE
A systematic review was performed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of different therapeutic interventions available for the management of isolated cricopharyngeal dysfunction.
METHODS
Studies were identified using the following databases: Ovid (Medline, Embase), the Cochrane Library, PubMed and Google Scholar. An initial search identified 339 articles. All titles and abstracts were reviewed. Fifty-six relevant articles were inspected in more detail; of these, 47 were included in the qualitative analysis.
RESULTS
No relevant randomised trials were found. A range of case series were used to perform a qualitative analysis. Botulinum toxin A injection and cricopharyngeal dilatation were associated with a higher risk of recurrence, but appear to be more suitable in elderly and co-morbid patients. In those patients requiring formal myotomy, endoscopic approaches appear to be as effective but less morbid when compared with classical open surgery.
CONCLUSION
There is good evidence for the safety and efficacy of the different therapeutic options for isolated cricopharyngeal dysfunction. However, further studies are required to compare the efficacy of the various treatment modalities.

Objective The aim of this study is to (1) assess incidence of long-term velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI) and (2) determine other sequelae following classic and modified uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP and mUPPP) for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Data Sources Medline, PubMed, Cochrane Library database. Review Methods A systematic review was performed following standard Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Original research articles reporting on sequelae of UPPP and mUPPP for treatment of OSA, at a mean of 1 year follow-up, were included. Articles were retrieved using keywords UPPP complications and UPPP questionnaire. A random-effects model was used for pooling data. Results A total of 24 studies were included in this review. Complications included VPI (24 studies, n = 191), difficulty swallowing (7 studies, n = 83), taste disturbances (4 studies, n = 10), voice changes (7 studies, n = 46), foreign body (9 studies, n = 427), and dry pharynx (7 studies, n = 150). When pooling all studies together, VPI was the least common sequelae reported in 8.1% of the cases. Foreign body sensation was the most commonly reported sequelae at 31.2%, with difficulty swallowing (17.7%), dry pharynx (23.4%), voice changes (9.5%), and taste disturbances (8.2%) being the most to least likely. Conclusions The long-term effectiveness of UPPP and mUPPP is limited by the number of studies reporting short-term follow-up only. Despite this, long-term data suggest that complications such as VPI are more common than previously reported. Other sequelae, such as foreign body sensation, may be one of the most frequently expected complications after UPPP surgery.
