The objective of this systematic review was to compare centric relation (CR) techniques that belong to the same method of obtaining CR (guided, graphical, or physiological method), to verify which CR technique within each method of obtaining CR generates the greatest reproducibility of the condylar positions (or mandibular position) in CR. The PubMed, Cochrane Library, SciELO, Scopus, and Web of Science databases were searched for articles published up to May 5, 2021. The search terms were combinations of "dental centric relation" (MeSH), with each of the following terms (individually): "reproducibility of findings" (MeSH); "jaw relation record" (MeSH); "chin point"; "gothic arch"; "bimanual manipulation"; "swallowing" (MeSH); and "jig." Inclusion criteria: clinical studies in English; individuals without temporomandibular dysfunction and with complete or almost complete dentition or complete edentulous; and comparison between CR techniques belonging to the same method of obtaining CR based on the reproducibility of condylar positions in CR. For each method of obtaining the CR, the following CR techniques were considered: guided method (chin point guidance and bimanual manipulation); graphic method (intraoral and extraoral gothic arch tracing); and physiologic method (swallowing and tongue retrusion along the palate). A total of 1692 articles were screened. After the inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, six articles were included in this review. None of the included studies evaluated edentulous individuals. All included articles compared CR techniques of the guided method. Three articles concluded that the bimanual technique showed greater reproducibility of the condylar positions in CR than the chin point guidance technique, two articles showed equivalence between these techniques, and 1 article concluded that the chin point guidance technique showed greater reproducibility of the condylar positions in CR than the bimanual technique. Thus, in this systematic review, the bimanual technique was often superior (generated greater reproducibility of the CR) or at least equivalent to the chin point guidance technique. Therefore, for individuals with complete dentition and without temporomandibular disorders, the bimanual technique is more recommended.

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune condition that is associated with thrombosis and morbidity in pregnancy. The exact mechanisms by which these associations occur appear to be heterogeneous and are not yet well understood. The aim of this study was to identify and analyze publications in recent years to better understand the diagnosis and its contribution to monitoring APS among women with recurrent miscarriage (RM). This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted using the PubMed and Web of Knowledge databases, with articles published between 2010 and 2014, according to the PRISMA statement. Of the 85 identified studies, nine were selected. Most of the studies reported an association between recurrent miscarriage and specific antiphospholipid antibodies, as anticardiolipin antibodies (aCL), lupus anticoagulant (LA), anti-β2-glycoprotein I antibodies (aβ2GPI) and antiphosphatidylserine (aPS), which showed a relationship with RM. The main result of the meta-analysis revealed association between antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) and/or APS compared to the patients with RM (OR: 0.279; 95% CI: 0.212-0.366) and APS cases compared to the patients with RM (OR: 0.083; 95% CI: 0.036-0.189). High heterogeneity among these studies (I=100.0%, p <0.001) was observed. In addition, there was no significant publication bias across studies according to Begg's test (p=0.230), although Egger's test (p=0.037) suggests significant publication bias. The funnel plot was slightly asymmetrical. Systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrated a positive association between antiphospholipid antibodies and/or antiphospholipid syndrome in patients with recurrent miscarriage.

Fibroblast growth factor 21 is a pleiotropic hormone secreted mainly by the liver in response to metabolic and nutritional challenges. Physiologically, fibroblast growth factor 21 plays a key role in mediating the metabolic responses to fasting or starvation and acts as an important regulator of energy homeostasis, glucose and lipid metabolism, and insulin sensitivity, in part by its direct action on the central nervous system. Accordingly, pharmacological recombinant fibroblast growth factor 21 therapies have been shown to counteract obesity and its related metabolic disorders in both rodents and nonhuman primates. In this systematic review, we discuss how fibroblast growth factor 21 regulates metabolism and its interactions with the central nervous system. In addition, we also state our vision for possible therapeutic uses of this hepatic-brain axis.

Although numerous studies have demonstrated the effect of ischemic preconditioning (IPC) in clinical application, the effectiveness of this procedure on performance and physiological variables is still debatable. Therefore a systematic review was performed, including a meta-analysis and evaluation of the quality of the papers that addressed this scope. The electronic databases of the National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Google Scholar (using [advanced search], [all fields]) and other online journals were searched, for the following descriptors: a) "ischemic preconditioning"; b) "blood flow" and "hyperemia"; c) "blood flow occlusion," combined with "exercise performance", "athletes", "exercise" and "performance". Relevant studies were included, if they conformed to strict pre-formulated criteria, excluding systematic review articles, meta-analyses and studies with only animals or non-healthy subjects. The 20 studies included had high quality scores (87%). The majority of the studies lacked statistical significance (P<0.05) for both performance and physiological variables when comparing IPC, placebo and control groups. Most studies showed that IPC has no significant influence on performance. The few studies with significant differences mainly described an improvement only in performance without altered physiological parameters. Therefore, the influence of IPC on performance is still unclear and physiologically highly debatable.

The emergence of physiological monitoring technologies has produced exceptional opportunities for real-time collection and analysis of workers' physiological information. To benefit from these safety and health prognostic opportunities, research efforts have explored the applicability of these devices to control workers' wellbeing levels during occupational activities. A systematic review is proposed to summarise up-to-date progress in applying physiological monitoring systems for occupational groups. Adhering with the PRISMA Statement, five databases were searched from 2014 to 2021, and 12 keywords were combined, concluding with the selection of 38 articles. Sources of risk of bias were assessed regarding randomisation procedures, selective outcome reporting and generalisability of results. Assessment procedures involving non-invasive methods applied with health and safety-related goals were filtered. Working-age participants from homogeneous occupational groups were selected, with these groups primarily including firefighters and construction workers. Research objectives were mainly directed to assess heat stress and physiological workload demands. Heart rate related variables, thermal responses and motion tracking through accelerometry were the most common approaches. Overall, wearable sensors proved to be valid tools for assessing physiological status in working environments. Future research should focus on conducting sensor fusion assessments, engaging wearables in real-time evaluation methods and giving continuous feedback to workers and practitioners.

Although conventional biventricular pacing has been shown to benefit patients with heart failure and conduction system disease, there are limitations to its therapeutic success, resulting in widely variable clinical response. Limitations of conventional biventricular pacing evolve around myocardial scar, fibrosis, and inability to effectively stimulate diseased tissue. Several observational and acute hemodynamic studies have demonstrated improved electrical resynchronization and echocardiographic response with conduction system pacing. This article provides a systematic review of conduction system pacing as a physiologic alternative to conventional CRT, which is currently undergoing rigorous investigation.

Melatonin is an indolamine produced by the pineal gland and it can exert a potent antioxidant effect. Its free radical scavenger properties have been used to advantage in different organ transplants in animal experiments. Several concentrations and administration pathways have been tested and melatonin has shown encouraging beneficial results in many transplants of organs such as the liver, lungs, heart, pancreas, and kidneys. The objective of the present study was to review the scientific literature regarding the use of melatonin in ovary transplantation. A systematic review following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement was carried out using the Cochrane and Pubmed databases and employing the terms 'melatonin' AND 'ovary' AND 'transplantation.' After analysis, 5 articles were extracted addressing melatonin use in ovary transplants and involving 503 animals. Melatonin enhanced various graft aspects like morphology, apoptosis, immunological reaction, revascularization, oxidative stress, and survival rate. Melatonin's antioxidative and antiapoptotic properties seemingly produce positive effects on ovarian graft activity. Despite the promising results, further studies in humans need to be conducted to consolidate its use, as ovary transplantation for fertility preservation is gradually being moved from the experimental stage to a clinical setting.

A systematic review allows us to identify, assess, and interpret all possible relevant work associated with a question in particular or the subject of an area. Different authors can use several methodologies to learn about research related to their own research in different fields. The main objective of this review is to identify work, research and publications made in the field of the mobile monitoring of patients through some application or commercial or non-commercial solutions in m-Health. Next, we compare the different solutions with our solution, MoMo (Mobile Monitoring) Framework. MoMo is a solution that allows for patient mobile monitoring through mobile phones and biometric devices (blood pressure meter, glucometer and others). Our systematic review is based on the methodology of B. Kitchenham. She proposed specific guidelines for carrying out a systematic review in software engineering. We prepare our systematic review base in the selection of primary and secondary research related to mobile monitoring solutions following criteria with a specific weight to compare with each part of our research.

Telemetric intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring is a new method of measuring ICP which eliminates some of the shortcomings of previous methods. However, there are limited data on specific characteristics, including the advantages and disadvantages of this method. The main aim of this study was to demonstrate the indications, benefits, and complications of telemetric ICP monitoring. PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched for relevant studies without language or date restriction in May 2019. Human studies in which telemetric ICP monitoring was the main subject of the study were included. Our initial search resulted in 1650 articles from which 50 studies were included. There were no randomized controlled trials. The majority of the studies were case reports or case series (68%). The most common aim of studies was testing of the device (52%), and monitoring the disease progression or recovery (46%). The most common indications for telemetric ICP monitoring in these studies were testing cerebrospinal fluid shunt function (46%), ICP control after the procedure (36%), and diagnosing intracranial hypertension (22%) and hydrocephalus (12%). In total, 1423 brain disease patients had been monitored in studies. The possibility of long-term ICP monitoring as the main benefit was reported in 38 (76%) studies. The associated complication rate was 7.1%. Despite the increasing application of telemetric monitoring devices, studies to evaluate specific characteristics of this method have been infrequent and inadequate. Future research using a higher level of scientific methods is needed to evaluate advantage and disadvantages.

OBJECTIVE
Quality and safety in epilepsy monitoring units (EMUs) are of great importance because patients' seizures are induced rather than prevented in this hospital setting. However, the measurement and evaluation of quality and safety in EMUs are heterogeneous, as are practices and processes of care. To improve the measurement of quality and safety in EMUs, we sought to develop evidence-based and consensus-driven quality indicators, adhering to previously described methodologic standards.
METHODS
Candidate quality indicators were identified using a recent systematic review on quality and safety indicators in EMUs. These were supplemented by expert opinion to identify other indicators that had not been reported previously. The candidate quality indicators were then evaluated using a modified Delphi technique among a multidisciplinary EMU quality improvement team. Candidate indicators identified as important and feasible through the Delphi technique were then developed into quality metrics.
RESULTS
Thirty-four candidate indicators were abstracted from 135 studies included in the earlier systematic review, and two additional candidate indicators were suggested through consensus from experts. Consensus was reached after two modified Delphi rounds for 25 quality indicators identified as important. These 25 indicators were then developed into quality metrics using a standardized data collection form and were deployed in an online database for systematic data capture and further analyses.
SIGNIFICANCE
These quality indicators have the potential to improve the reporting of quality and safety in EMUs through standardized measurement and evaluation of the quality and safety of care. The ultimate goal is improved patient care and clinical outcomes through safer and better care for people with epilepsy in the EMU.
