Ameloblastomas are true benign tumors of odontogenic epithelial origin mostly seen in the mandible. After odontoma, it is the second most commonly seen odontogenic neoplasm. Ameloblastomas comprise several clinical, radiological, and histological varieties, making them the most significant odontogenic neoplasm. Unicystic ameloblastomas (UAs) refer to those cystic lesions that show clinical, radiographic, or gross features of jaw cysts but on histologic examination, they show a typical ameloblastomatous epithelium lining the cysts' cavities, with or without luminal and/or mural tumor proliferation. UAs are a less encountered variant of ameloblastomas and are believed to be less aggressive. As this tumor shows considerable similarities with dentigerous cysts, both clinically and radiographically the biological behavior of this tumor group was reviewed.

BACKGROUND
The occurrence of hybrid odontogenic lesions with two or more morphologically distinct components is a rare phenomenon and poses a diagnostic challenge. We aimed to study the clinical, radiological, and pathological features and behavior of hybrid odontogenic lesions, to enhance awareness about these rare lesions.
METHOD
Hematoxylin and Eosin slides of hybrid odontogenic lesions diagnosed between January 01, 2012 and December 31, 2020, were reviewed. Demographic and radiological information were obtained from the patient's medical records.
RESULTS
8 cases were diagnosed with a mean age of 19.1 years and male to female ratio of 1:1.7. Involvement of mandible was more common (n = 5) as compared to maxilla (n = 3). All patients presented with swelling for an average of 9.75 months (3-25 months) duration. Bleeding, loose teeth, pain and facial asymmetry were reported in 5,3, 3, and 2 cases, respectively. Radiologically, 7 cases were well demarcated, 75% cases (n = 6) were radiolucent, and average radiological size was 4.8 cm. All patients were managed with surgery alone. 5 cases (62.5%) underwent enucleation and curettage, while local excision, en-block resection and segmental mandibulectomy were performed in 1 case each. Histologically, ossifying fibroma/cemento-ossifyiong fibroma were the most lesion, occurring in 5 cases (62%), followed by giant cell granuloma like lesions (GCG) i.e., central and peripheral giant cell granuloma (n = 3), Adenomatoid Odontogenic tumor (AOT) (n = 2), and DC (n = 2), ameloblastic fibroma (AF) (n = 1), Ameloblastoma (n = 1), calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) (n = 1), and complex odontoma (n = 1). No evidence of recurrence was noted after 4-99 months of surgery (mean: 32.9) in cases with available data (n = 7). Long-term complaints included facial asymmetry (n = 2) and pain (n = 1).
CONCLUSION
Most hybrid odontogenic lesions affect young females in the second decade of life and commonly show COF and OF as hybrid components. A conservative approach to management appears adequate.

Review
Odontomas are one of the most common Odontogenic Tumors of the jaw. The exact etiology of odontomas is unknown. Histologically they are composed of various formations of dental tissue (enamel, dentin, cementum and sometimes pulp). In the WHO classification, they are divided into complex odontoma and compound odontoma. Clinically, odontomas are generally asymptomatic and only in rare cases cause swelling, pain, suppuration or bony expansion. Radiologically, the tumor is initially lucent, but with time, it develops small calcifications, which eventually coalesce to form a radiodense lesion with a lucent rim. Surgical resection is the treatment of choice and there is no recurrence. The aim of this paper is to define the principal characteristics and the treatment of these lesions, based on literature and personal experience.

Odontoma is considered to be the most common odontogenic tumor of the oral cavity. Most odontomas are asymptomatic and are discovered during routine radiographic investigations and can cause disturbances in the eruption of the teeth, most commonly delayed eruption or deflection. By a retrospective study design, demographic and clinical data regarding patients who presented odontomas from year 1995 to 2015 were obtained in order and the influence of active therapy on the dentition and on the treatment of impacted teeth was analyzed. Forty-five patients (mean age 14.2 years) with 29 complex and 16 compound odontomas were included in this retrospective study. Initial symptoms were delayed eruption of permanent teeth (n = 25), pain (n = 6), swellings (n = 4), and no symptoms (n = 10); 31 patients were discovered by incidence, all of them via panoramic radiographs. The mandible/maxilla ratio was about 2:1 (31/15). Thirty-two out of 45 odontomas were in close proximity of at least 1 tooth (n = 21 at incisive). A total of 12 teeth were extracted (complex: n = 8; compound: n = 4). Of the nonextracted teeth, 33 teeth were displaced and retained. Of those, 29 teeth were aligned through orthodontic-surgical approach and 4 teeth erupted spontaneously after surgery during the follow-up period. An early detection of odontoma is more likely an accidental radiological finding, hence the need for routine radiographic analysis should be emphasized. Early diagnosis of odontomas in primary dentition is crucial in order to prevent later complications, such as impaction or failure of eruption of teeth.

Odontoma is the most common benign odontogenic hamartoma. Odontomas are of two types, such as viz compound and complex odontoma. The complex type is a conglomeration of hard tissues of dental origin. They are primarily intraosseous and usually present in the second decade of life. Most odontomas are asymptomatic, but those erupting in the oral cavity may cause severe infection. They are often associated with impacted teeth and are present with the anterior maxilla showing the highest propensity.The present case report is of a male patient in his early 60s with a substantial solitary sclerotic odontoma of the middle and posterior segments of the maxilla erupted into the oral cavity communicating with the right maxillary sinus. The delayed presentation, size, location and active suppuration can misguide clinicians.

INTRODUCTION
Odontoma is the most commonly diagnosed odontogenic tumor of the oral cavity. The objective of the present study was to assess the demographic variables, patterns, diagnostic features, and management issues of odontomas treated at several European departments of maxillofacial and oral surgery.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
This study was conducted at 8 European departments of oral surgery between January 1, 2004, and December 31, 2018. Only patients with odontomas were included. The following data were recorded for each patient: gender, age, comorbidities, site, size of odontomas, radiographic features, type of odontoma, treatment of odontomas, treatment of associated teeth, complications, and recurrence.
RESULTS
A total of 127 patients (70 male and 57 female patients) with odontomas were included. The mean age was 22 years; 71 odontomas were found in the mandible, whereas 56 in the maxilla. In the mandible, the most frequently involved subsite was the parasymphysis, while in the maxilla, the most common subsite was the upper incisor region. The mean size of included odontomas was 15.3 mm. On the whole, 62 complex odontomas, 50 compound odontomas, and 15 mixed-type odontomas were observed. Complete excision of the odontomas was performed in 121 patients. In 24 patients, the extraction of deciduous teeth was performed, and in 43 patients, one or more permanent teeth were removed. Finally, in 9 patients, a partial excision of the odontoma was performed. Recurrence was observed in 4 cases out of 127 patients.
CONCLUSIONS
Dental practitioners should be aware of the distinct clinical and radiographic features of odontoma in order to perform an appropriate and early diagnosis. Conventional radiography, such as panoramic radiograph, is often sufficient technique for a diagnosis after clinical suspicion or for an incidental diagnosis to prevent later complications, such as impaction or failure of eruption of teeth.

The aim of the present work is to analyze all scientific evidence to verify whether similarities supporting a unified explanation for odontomas and supernumerary teeth exist. A literature search was first conducted for epidemiologic studies indexed by PubMed, to verify their worldwide incidence. The analysis of the literature data shows some interesting similarities between odontomas and supernumerary teeth concerning their topographic distribution and pathologic manifestations. There is also some indication of common genetic and immuno-histochemical factors. Although from a nosological point of view, odontomas and supernumeraries are classified as distinct entities, they seem to be the expression of the same pathologic process, either malformative or hamartomatous.

BACKGROUND
The variety of characteristics related to odontoma research, including an unexplored one such as size, merits a multivariate approach that allows the adequate drawing of inferences with pertinent conclusions. The objective of this study is to establish the possible association between some characteristics related to the odontoma, tumor size among them.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The sociodemographic characteristics of 60 patients were evaluated. Diagnosis, size, location, type of treatment performed, and prognosis were determined. These data were analyzed descriptively and through multivariate models.
RESULTS
Thirty-four compound and 26 complex odontomas in 32 men and 28 women were observed. The age average of patients was 15.6±11 years. Most of the odontomas presented a size inferior to 10 mm. A statistically significant association was observed between the routine radiographic finding and the absence of dental eruption (=0.0001). The model of linear regression adjusted between odontoma size and age (β=0.321, =0.01), as well as the model of logistic regression adjusted between gender (men) and tumor size (OR=12; 1.7 - 93 IC 95%, (=0.01) were statistically significant.
CONCLUSIONS
Statistically significant associations between odontoma size and age, and between the male gender and odontomas smaller than 10 mm were found adjusting by other confounding variables. These results could grant clinicians a greater knowledge of the context of odontoma characteristics, which in turn could favor a better diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making. Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO) is a rare, benign, and mixed odontogenic tumor that consists of both ectodermal and mesenchymal elements. AFO is more prevalent in young children and adolescents than in adults and is usually found in the molar area associated with a failure of tooth eruption. The purpose of this report is to discuss the differential diagnosis and treatment of a three-year-old girl diagnosed with an AFO around a primary canine. The manifestations of the lesion resembled localized periodontal disease caused by an enamel pearl. Excision and curettage were done and the separated dental hard tissue was confirmed from the enamel structure of the primary canine. In addition to the hard tissue, pulpy and soft tissues were removed together and were histologically examined, confirming the diagnosis of AFO.
