INTRODUCTION
Migraine is a common, disabling chronic pain condition possibly related to changes in endothelial and vascular structure and function. Several observational studies have suggested an elevated risk of cervical artery dissection (CeAD) in patients with a history of migraine. We aimed to investigate this potential association using systematic review and meta-analytic methods.
PATIENTS AND METHODS
We utilized a pre-defined search protocol to identify and screen studies related to migraine and CeAD in PubMed, Embase, and the Web of Science Core Collection. We assessed the risk of bias and performed a meta-analysis of selected studies to assess the association between migraine and CeAD. We also performed subgroup analyses by migraine subtype, biological sex, and the use of stroke versus non-stroke controls.
RESULTS
We identified 11 studies ( = 9857 patients) for inclusion in the meta-analysis. Meta-analysis showed an association between migraine and CeAD with an odds ratio of 1.74 (95%CI 1.38-2.19). There was high heterogeneity among the included studies ( = 61%). Publication bias was present but the Trim-Fill imputation suggested that the impact on results was likely minimal. Subgroup analyses revealed an association between migraine without aura and CeAD (OR 1.86, 95%CI 1.55-2.24) but not migraine with aura and CeAD (OR 1.15, 95%CI 0.71-1.88). There was no difference in the association between migraine and CeAD in men compared to women.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION
A history of migraine is associated with an increased risk of CeAD. Further studies are needed to elucidate the potential pathophysiologic mechanisms underlying this association.

Pregnancy-associated aortic dissection (AD) is a rare event, with an incidence of 0.0004% per pregnancy. The work of the Aortic Dissection Collaborative identified pregnancy-associated AD as a high-priority topic, despite its rarity. The Pregnancy Working Group, which included physicians and patient stakeholders, performed a systematic literature review of pregnancy-associated AD from 1960 to 2021 and identified 6,333 articles through PubMed, OVID MEDLINE, Cochrane, Embase, CINAHL and Web of Science. The inclusion criterion was AD in pregnant populations and exclusion criteria were case reports, conference abstracts, and languages other than English. Assessment of full-text articles for eligibility after removal of duplicates from all databases yielded 68 articles to be included in the final review. Topics included were timing of AD in pregnancy, type of AD, and management considerations of pregnancy-associated AD. The Pregnancy Working Group identified gaps in knowledge and future areas of research for pregnancy-associated AD, including clinical management, mental health outcomes post AD, reproductive and genetic counseling, and contraception after AD. Future collaborative projects could be a multicenter, international registry for all pregnancy-associated AD to refine the risk factors, best practice and management of AD in pregnancy. In addition, future mixed methodology studies may be useful to explore social, mental, and emotional factors related to pregnancy-associated AD and to determine support groups' effect on anxiety and depression related to these events in the pregnancy and postpartum period.

INTRODUCTION
Recent studies have raised concerns that fluoroquinolone use is associated with an increased risk of aortopathy, including aortic aneurysm with and without dissection.
OBJECTIVE
We performed a meta-analysis with a comprehensive literature review to further investigate this association.
METHODS
This analysis was conducted per PRISMA guidelines. PubMed, Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials.gov, Embase, Web of Science, and Google Scholar were searched for studies that included adult patients (age >18 years) exposed to fluoroquinolones or control antibiotics (amoxicillin/any other antibiotic) for urinary tract infection or pneumonia with a primary outcome of aortic aneurysm or dissection. Heterogeneity was calculated using Q statistic I.
RESULTS
A total of 6 studies-comprised of 59% males-were included in our analysis, which showed an increased combined risk of development of aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection with quinolone exposure when compared with controls (relative risk [RR] = 2.11; 95% CI, 1.62 - 2.75; I= 83.700). Individual relative risk for aortic aneurysm (RR = 2.83; 95% CI, 2.02 - 3.95, I = 89.150) and aortic dissection (RR = 1.99; 95% CI, 1.23 - 3.06; I2= 71.33) also were significantly increased.
CONCLUSION
Compared to other antibiotics, the use of fluoroquinolones was associated with a significantly higher risk of aortic aneurysm and dissection combined.

Bladder agenesis is a rare congenital deformity characterized by the absence of the bladder. It is primarily observed in postmortem dissections of stillbirths rather than live births. The condition is often associated with other congenital anomalies, leading to the hypothesis that most affected fetuses do not survive to term. However, the exact cause and specific associated anomalies remain unclear and poorly described in the literature. The limited mention of bladder agenesis in textbooks and literature underscores the importance of creating a comprehensive source for future research in this field. Therefore, our objective is to collect and analyze data on bladder agenesis, focusing on associated anomalies and potential causes, to enhance our understanding of the condition. We conducted a thorough review of reports collected from three databases, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct, last searched on July 30, 2023, starting with 327 reports. Excluding duplicates and records written in languages other than English, veterinary studies, irrelevant reports, or stillbirths. Inclusion criteria were the following: cases must have proven bladder agenesis, not hypoplasia, and must have most of the information, including the age of diagnosis, presenting symptoms, gender, associated anomalies, and management or outcome of the patient. A quality assessment was conducted according to the Joanna Briggs Institute checklist for case reports. A total of 65 case reports from 56 articles were included in the review. Through our manual analysis, we documented a wild array of malformations associated with bladder agenesis. Among the reports reviewed, 93% exhibited urinary system malformations beside bladder agenesis, 77% were found to have reproductive malformations, 44% had gastrointestinal anomalies, 38% showed musculoskeletal malformations, 28% had cardiac malformations, and another 28% had vascular anomalies. The overall mortality rate was 38%, with a higher rate of 74% for males compared to 20% for females. By collating and analyzing those case reports, we aim to contribute to a better understanding of bladder agenesis and its associated anomalies, facilitating further investigations and advancements in the field.

Coronavirus disease 19 (Covid-19) has been declared as a pandemic disease since March 2020; causing wide array of signs and symptoms, many of which result in increased mortality rates worldwide. Although it was initially known as an acute respiratory disease, Covid-19 is accompanied with several extrapulmonary manifestations, of which the cardiovascular ones are of major importance. Among other cardiovascular complications of Covid-19, aortic dissection has been a significant yet underrated problem. The pathophysiology of aortic dissection consists of various inflammatory pathways, that could be influenced by Covid-19 infection. We herein have reviewed articles inclusive of aortic dissection concurrent with Covid-19 infection in a systematic manner, along with the probable similarities in pathophysiology of aortic dissection with Covid-19 infection.

OBJECTIVE
To assess the efficacy and safety of carotid artery stenting for the treatment of extracranial carotid artery dissection (CAD).
DATA SOURCES
Systematic review using Medline, Scopus, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library.
REVIEW METHODS
A systematic search was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-analysis statement. Data from the eligible studies were extracted and meta-analysed. Primary endpoints included post-operative mortality, cerebrovascular events (CEs), and modified Rankin Score for neurological disability (mRS) at 90 days. Subgroup analyses were performed between stenting of spontaneous and traumatic CAD, primary stenting vs. stenting after failed medical therapy (FMT), and stenting of CAD in the presence of tandem occlusions vs. stenting of isolated extracranial CAD.
RESULTS
Twenty-four studies with 1 224 patients were included. Pooled post-operative mortality, CE, and mRS 0 - 2 rates were 1.71% (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.83 - 2.80), 6.45% (95% CI 2.80 - 11.10), and 76.13% (95% CI 64.15 - 86.50), respectively. The pooled stroke rate was 2.16% (95% CI 0.0 - 6.64). Spontaneous vs. traumatic CAD mortality rates were 3.20% (95% CI 1.80 - 4.88) and 0.00% (95% CI 0.00 - 1.59) while CE rates were 14.26% (95% CI 6.28 - 24.36) and 1.64% (95% CI 0.0 - 6.08). Primary stenting and stenting after FMT mortality rates were 0.63% (95% CI 0.0 - 5.63) and 0.0% (95% CI 0.0 - 2.24), while CE rates were 5.02% (95% CI 0.38 - 12.63) and 3.33% (95% CI 0.12 - 9.03). Mortality rates for tandem occlusions and isolated extracranial CAD were 5.62% (95% CI 1.76 - 10.83) and 0.23% (95% CI 0.0 - 1.88), respectively, while CE rates were 15.28% (95% CI 6.23 - 26.64) and 1.88% (95% CI 0.23 - 4.51). The methodological index for non-randomised studies score was 8.66 (low).
CONCLUSION
Both primary stenting and stenting of spontaneous CAD yielded unfavourable results with respect to stent thrombosis and stroke rates. Conversely, stenting following FMT had acceptable mortality and complication rates corroborating the use of stenting in the setting of CAD as a second line treatment. Due to the low quality of the included studies, definite conclusions cannot be drawn necessitating further research.

BACKGROUND
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a serious, noniatrogenic and nontraumatic cardiac event that predominantly affects women, with a high risk of recurrence. Secondary prevention strategies are not well understood in this population. Therefore, the aim of this systematic review is to determine the current evidence on secondary prevention strategies and their effect on recurrent cardiac events and quality of life (QOL).
METHODS
A literature search was conducted on August 21, 2021, of Ovid MEDLINE, Ovid Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane Library (via Wiley), Google Scholar, and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global. Literature on adult SCAD survivors who underwent secondary prevention measures with reported outcomes on major adverse cardiovascular events or QOL were included. Articles solely on pregnancy-associated SCAD or fibromuscular dysplasia were excluded.
RESULTS
Thirty studies were included in this review. A variety of research methodologies were explored. There were no randomized controlled trials. Overall, the quality of the evidence was moderate. Although evidence on secondary prevention was limited, tailored medical management was shown to have the most effect on decreasing recurrent events. Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) was supported as a safe and effective program for SCAD patients, with no reported associations with recurrent SCAD events or major adverse cardiovascular events. CR along with psychosocial interventions showed promise in improving QOL in SCAD survivors.
CONCLUSIONS
Medical management has the most effect in reducing recurrent events. CR, as a secondary prevention program, can provide interventions that might improve QOL. Randomized trial evidence on therapies for patients with SCAD are needed.

OBJECTIVES
Thoracic endovascular aortic repair has been chosen as a less-invasive alternative to open surgery for the treatment of aortic dissections; however, the advantages have been challenged by the postoperative reintervention during the follow-up period. This study aimed at evaluating the incidence, reasons, and potential risk factors for reintervention.
METHODS
Studies reporting reintervention after endovascular repair were identified by searching PubMed and Embase in accordance with preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses guidelines, and by reviewing the reference lists of retrieved articles. Sensitivity analysis and subgroup analyses were performed to determine the sources of heterogeneity. Funnel plot and Egger's test were used to determine the publication bias.
RESULTS
A total of 27 studies encompassing 2403 patients with aortic dissection were identified. The pooled incidence of reintervention after endovascular repair was 15% (95% confidence interval, 12-19) during 33.7 months of follow-up. The 3 most common reasons for reintervention were endoleak (33.2%), false lumen perfusion and aortic dilation (19.8%), and new dissection (6.9%). The potential factors for reintervention were the mean age of onset and diabetes mellitus determined by performing a single meta-regression analysis (P < .001 and .044, respectively).
CONCLUSIONS
Current data suggest that the incidence of reintervention after endovascular therapy is relatively high during midterm follow-up. Advanced age of onset is a risk factor and diabetes mellitus is a protective factor of reintervention after endovascular therapy. The possible mechanism that diabetes mellitus protects patients from reintervention should be explored further.

The acute event of thoracic aortic dissection carries with it high mortality and morbidity. Despite optimal initial surgical or medical management strategies, the risk of further complications in the long-term, including aneurysmal dilatation and false lumen (FL) expansion, are not insignificant. Adequate follow-up of such conditions requires dedicated imaging where relevant prognostic indicators are accurately assessed. We perform a systematic review of the literature and report the current evidence for the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in assessment of chronic aortic dissection. We then make a comparison with traditional imaging modalities including computed tomography and echocardiography. We discuss new ways in which MRI may extend existing aortic assessment, including identification of blood-flow dynamics within the TL and FL using phase-contrast imaging.

BACKGROUND
Dissecting cellulitis of the scalp (DCS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by abscesses, nodules, fistulas, and scarring alopecia. Management of this oftentimes debilitating dermatosis can be challenging due to its recalcitrant nature. There is limited data regarding the efficacy of treatment options for DCS.
OBJECTIVE
The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review of the literature to explore the efficacy and safety of reported DCS treatments.
METHODS
In October 2022, MEDLINE and EMBASE databases were searched for articles on treatments for DCS. Studies that contained outcome efficacy data for DCS treatments were included. Reviews, conference abstracts, meta-analyses, commentaries, non-relevant articles, and articles with no full-text available were excluded. Data extraction was performed by two independent reviewers.
RESULTS
A total of 110 relevant articles with 417 patients were identified. A majority of studies (86.4%) were case reports or series. Treatment options included systemic antibiotics, oral retinoids, biologics, procedural treatments, combination agents, and topical treatments. Oral retinoids and photodynamic therapy were the most extensively studied medical and procedural interventions, respectively.
CONCLUSION
Overall, randomized controlled trials are needed to evaluate various treatment regimens for DCS and provide patients with a robust, evidence-based approach to therapy.
