Chemotherapy represents the main pharmacological cancer treatment. Recently, positive effects emerged with the combination of anticancer therapy and nutraceutical products. The aim of this systematic review is to collect and synthesize the available scientific evidence regarding the potential effects of nutraceuticals on cancer cells. A systematic literature search of randomized clinical trials of nutraceutical products in patients with cancer published up to 15 December 2022 was conducted using three data sources: Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science. The effect of high-dose isoflavone supplements on prostate cancer resulted in stabilization or reduction of PSA concentrations in 50% of isoflavone group patients six months after treatment. High doses of vitamin D supplementation plus chemotherapy in patients with advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer showed a median PFS of 13.0 months (95% CI, 10.1-14.7 months) for 49 patients. The effect of vitamin D supplementation on markers of inflammatory level and antioxidant capacity in women with breast cancer showed a significant increase in serum vitamin D concentration (28 ± 2.6 to 39 ± 3.5; = 0.004) after 8 weeks of treatment. In conclusion, nutraceutical supplements represent a potentially growing sector and can be utilized in medical treatment or nutrition to provide integrated medical care.

White spot lesions represent the first stage of caries and their prevalence has been increasing in recent years, particularly in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. DIferential diagnosis and lesion activity are essential to decide on the clinical approaches to treatment. The aim of this study is to understand if the new diagnostic tools such as fluorescence, microradiography and computed microtomography have the potential to change the conventional treatment of white spots".
METHODS
A systematic search of available studies in the literature was carried out, using PRISMA guidelines, in Pubmed and Scopus electronic databases and manually to identify relevant articles to answer the PICO question: "Do the new diagnostic tools have the potential to change the conventional treatment of white spots?". This systematic review included randomized controlled trials (RCT), cross-sectional and longitudinal studies complying with the following inclusion criteria: (i) studies in humans, (ii) studies about white spot lesions, (iii) studies published between 2012 and 2023, (iv) studies having both diagnosis and treatment and (v) studies with full text available. In this review we excluded other systematic reviews of clinical trials and in vitro studies. The RoB tool was used to assess the risk of bias.
RESULTS
The systematic literature search identified 143 potentially relevant references, which after applying the exclusion criteria, resulted in 20 articles. Regarding diagnostic methods, most articles found were based on conventional methods of visual examination (n:10) or fluorescence (n:7). The least referenced diagnostic techniques were based on the use of clinical photographs (n:2), cross-sectional microradiography (n:1) and computed microtomography (n:1). The use of DIAGNOdent was reported by 3 in vitro studies. With regard to therapies, most studies reported the use of infiltrating resin (n:7) and fluoride-based products (n:5). Other studies have reported the use of self-assembling peptide P11-4 (n:1), home care (n:1), casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (n:2) and hydrochloric acid (n:1). Combination therapies were also considered.
CONCLUSION
Diagnostic tool does not have the potential to change the form of treatment, whether it is a conventional method or a more differentiated one.

The application of orthodontic forces causes root resorption of variable severity with potentially severe clinical ramifications.
OBJECTIVE
To systematically review reports on the pathophysiological mechanisms of orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption (OIIRR) and the associated risk factors based on in vitro, experimental, and in vivo studies.
SEARCH METHODS
We undertook an electronic search of four databases and a separate hand-search.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Studies reporting on the effect of orthodontic forces with/without the addition of potential risk factors on OIIRR, including (1) gene expression in in-vitro studies, the incidence root resorption in (2) animal studies, and (3) human studies.
DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Potential hits underwent a two-step selection, data extraction, quality assessment, and systematic appraisal performed by duplicate examiners.
RESULTS
One hundred and eighteen articles met the eligibility criteria. Studies varied considerably in methodology, reporting of results, and variable risk of bias judgements.In summary, the variable evidence identified supports the notion that the application of orthodontic forces leads to (1) characteristic alterations of molecular expression profiles in vitro, (2) an increased rate of OIIRR in animal models, as well as (3) in human studies. Importantly, the additional presence of risk factors such as malocclusion, previous trauma, and medications like corticosteroids increased the severity of OIIRR, whilst other factors decreased its severity, including oral contraceptives, baicalin, and high caffeine.
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the systematically reviewed evidence, OIIRR seems to be an inevitable consequence of the application of orthodontic forces-with different risk factors modifying its severity. Our review has identified several molecular mechanisms that can help explain this link between orthodontic forces and OIIRR. Nevertheless, it must be noted that the available eligible literature was in part significantly confounded by bias and was characterized by substantial methodological heterogeneity, suggesting that the results of this systematic review should be interpreted with caution.

BACKGROUND
Micronutrients are vital for general and oral health, and their potential anti-cancer properties are documented. We explore beneficial vitamins for oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) and oral cancer (OC), assessing the therapeutic impacts of essential vitamin supplementation.
METHODS
We systematically review evidence on vitamin supplementation's therapeutic effects for OPMDs and OC. Relevant studies were identified through comprehensive searches of MEDLINE, Evidence-Based Medicine, and Web of Science until 16 May 2023. All studies underwent risk of bias using criteria modified from the Office of Health Assessment and Translation (OHAT) tool.
RESULTS
We analysed 80 papers. Vitamin K, studied in vitro, shows promising therapeutic potential. Vitamin C, investigated in vivo (animals and humans), demonstrated mixed animal results and generally positive human trial effects. Vitamin A's efficacy varied, with positive monotherapy or adjunct effects. Vitamins B and D showed therapeutic benefits. Oral cancer research was extensive, with a focus on oral lichen planus and oral leukoplakia among the 11 OPMDs. All bias levels were reported in 'selective reporting' and 'performance', except for "definitely high" in the 'selection', 'detection', and 'attrition/exclusion' domains.
CONCLUSIONS
Evidence of vitamin interventions for OPMDs and OC ranges from mixed to promising. Standardizing the study design and outcomes would enhance future research.

This research presents a systematic review focusing on rituximab's therapeutic applications in immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related disease (IgG4-RD), a rare condition characterized by immune-mediated systemic inflammation and tissue fibrosis, as well as the clinical features of IgG4-RD. While the disease commonly affects organs such as the bile ducts, lymph nodes, retroperitoneum, pancreas, and salivary glands, it can potentially involve other organs. This intricacy often leads to diagnostic challenges due to clinical overlaps with cancer, infections, and other autoimmune disorders. The diagnosis of IgG4-RD necessitates a comprehensive approach involving laboratory tests, imaging studies, and clinical assessments. Symptoms can vary, ranging from lymphadenopathy to jaundice, affecting multiple organs. Although elevated blood IgG4 levels and findings of tissue involvement and fibrosis on imaging can be suggestive, they lack the specificity for a definitive diagnosis. Early diagnosis is crucial for initiating corticosteroids and immunosuppressive to prevent further damage from IgG4-RD. This study highlights the therapeutic role of rituximab in managing this condition. Adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) criteria, the research identifies and evaluates relevant literature across various electronic databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. This review includes 14 selected publications, comprising three systematic reviews, three observational studies, four narrative reviews, and four case reports. The study design ensures a comprehensive evaluation of rituximab's potential efficacy in treating IgG4-RD and its associated clinical characteristics. Based on this study, it can be concluded that IgG4-RD can potentially be treated with rituximab, particularly in cases of relapse and maintaining remission.

Over the past several decades, there have been many epidemiology studies on talc and cancer published in the scientific literature, and several reviews and meta-analyses of talc and respiratory, female reproductive, and stomach cancers, specifically. To help provide a resource for the evaluation of talc as a potential human carcinogen, we applied a consistent set of examination methods and criteria for all epidemiology studies that examined the association between talc exposure (by various routes) and cancers (of various types). We identified 30 cohort, 35 case-control, and 12 pooled studies that evaluated occupational, medicinal, and personal-care product talc exposure and cancers of the respiratory system, the female reproductive tract, the gastrointestinal tract, the urinary system, the lymphohematopoietic system, the prostate, male genital organs, and the central nervous system, as well as skin, eye, bone, connective tissue, peritoneal, and breast cancers. We tabulated study characteristics, quality, and results in a systematic manner, and evaluated all cancer types for which studies of at least three unique populations were available in a narrative review. We focused on study quality aspects most likely to impact the interpretation of results. We found that only one study, of medicinal talc use, evaluated direct exposure measurements for any individuals, though some used semi-quantitative exposure metrics, and few studies adequately assessed potential confounders. The only consistent associations were with ovarian cancer in case-control studies and these associations were likely impacted by recall and potentially other biases. This systematic review indicates that epidemiology studies do not support a causal association between occupational, medicinal, or personal talc exposure and any cancer in humans.

TikTok (San Jose, CA) is a popular and rapidly growing social media platform. With beauty and skincare among the top 5 most popular categories, TikTok represents an important platform for plastic surgery education and communication. However, given the vast array of content shared daily, regulating content for veracity is challenging. It may also be an important and potentially overlooked avenue for the dissemination of inaccurate information pertaining to plastic surgery. This systematic review evaluates TikTok's impact on plastic surgery. Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Guidelines, a systematic literature review was performed of the use of TikTok within the plastic surgery field. The following databases were queried: PubMed (National Institutes of Health; Bethesda, MD), EMBASE (Elsevier; Amsterdam, the Netherlands), and PsychInfo (American Psychological Association; Washington, DC). The search captured 31 studies of which 7 were included in the final analysis. The studies examined the following areas: gender-affirming surgery ( = 1), breast reconstruction ( = 1), aesthetic surgical procedures ( = 1), plastic surgeon profiles ( = 1), and profiles of videos relating to plastic surgery hashtags ( = 3). The videos' quality was assessed using the DISCERN scale. Physician videos scored notably higher than nonphysician videos. The mean DISCERN score across all the videos ( = 386) was 1.91 (range: 1.44-3.00), indicating poor quality. TikTok is a popular medium for sharing plastic surgery content. The existing literature has demonstrated overall poor-quality information on plastic surgery, and further study is needed to evaluate its impact in terms of perceptions of the specialty and healthcare behaviors. Future work should focus on promoting accurate, high-quality videos, potentially including a peer-review function for healthcare content. This can leverage TikTok's potential for disseminating content while upholding patient safety.

Safety and Effectiveness of Exercise-Based Cardiac Rehabilitation for Patients With Atrial Fibrillation Following Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation Therapy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Despite the potential of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) to reduce atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA), its prescription is not routine. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CR in this setting. Inclusion criteria comprised randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing CR with usual care in patients with AF following RFCA. We performed a comprehensive search of six databases up to August 17, 2023, and conducted a thorough risk of bias assessment. We synthesized safety outcomes using AF recurrence rates to calculate relative risks (RR). Furthermore, we conducted a meta-analysis on peak oxygen uptake (VO peak) and the six-minute walk test (6MWT) to gauge efficacy, utilizing mean differences (MD) for comparison. The GRADE framework was employed to determine the certainty of evidence, with two independent reviewers completing all processes. Our analysis encompassed eight studies with 772 participants aged 55-70 years engaged in moderate-intensity CR for a median of six months. Results showed no significant difference in AF recurrence after CR (RR = 0.69 (0.41-1.14)), with low evidence certainty due to heterogeneity. Subgroup analyses suggested a poor risk reduction effect in patients with obesity and persistent AF. Significant improvements were observed in VO peak and 6MWT outcomes (VO peak; MD = 2.53 (0.78-4.28), 6MWT; MD = 38.81 (0.65-76.97)), with moderate-certainty evidence. While CR may decrease AF recurrence after RFCA, its effectiveness varies, potentially diminishing in patients with obesity or persistent AF. Moderate gains in physical performance were achieved with minimal adverse events. Further RCTs are warranted to confirm these findings.

Trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd, DS-8201) is a targeted antibody-drug conjugate that specifically targets human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). In 2019, it was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer. However, ongoing research is exploring its potential efficacy in other solid tumors, such as non-small-cell lung cancer and colorectal cancer, as well as in tumors with low HER2 levels. It is important to examine the safety and effectiveness of trastuzumab deruxtecan in these various types of solid tumors, as some studies have raised concerns about potential serious adverse events associated with its use. In this meta-analysis, we conducted a comprehensive search of PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated the efficacy and safety of trastuzumab deruxtecan in solid tumors. We used RevMan 5.4 software to perform a meta-analysis, calculating odds ratios (OR), risk ratios (RR), and weighted mean differences (WMD) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). After an exhaustive search, we identified three articles that met our inclusion criteria, which included a total of 1268 patients. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the treatment group had significantly higher overall survival (WMD=5.12, 95% CI (2.79, 7.44), P<0.0001), progression-free survival (WMD=3.45, 95% CI (0.8, 6.1), P=0.01), overall response rate (OR=6.49, 95% CI (4.90, 8.58), P<0.00001), and disease control rate (OR=4.68, 95% CI (2.78, 7.89), P<0.00001), TRAEs (RR=6.93, 95% CI (2.06, 23.25), P=0.002). However, there was no significant difference in TRAEs≥3 (RR=1.08, 95% CI (0.75, 1.56), P=0.68) between the trials. Based on the available evidence, trastuzumab deruxtecan appears to be an effective and safe treatment option for HER2-positive solid tumors. Although the number of studies included in this analysis is limited, ongoing trials are being conducted, further evaluating its potential in various solid tumors. The results of these trials will enhance our understanding of trastuzumab deruxtecan and potentially expand its applications, bringing hope to more patients with solid tumors.

In this study the presence of uterine fibroids was significantly associated with an increased risk of development of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy even when accounting for age and BMI in meta-regression. This finding has potential implications for risk stratification and monitoring for hypertension during pregnancy in this population.
OBJECTIVE
To examine the association between uterine fibroids and the development of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy.
DATA SOURCES
Cochrane, Embase, PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science databases were searched from inception through April 2023.
STUDY SELECTION AND SYNTHESIS
Cohort, case-control, or case series studies including uterine fibroid status and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy status were included. The comparison group was pregnant women without uterine fibroids. Inverse-variance weighted random effects models were used to pool RR and OR estimates separately. Age and BMI were explored as potential sources of heterogeneity using inverse-variance weighted meta-regression.
MAIN OUTCOMES
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) defined as gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, superimposed preeclampsia, or hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets (HELLP) syndrome.
RESULTS
A total of 17 studies were included (Total N=1,374,395 participants, N=64,968 with uterine fibroids). Thirteen studies were retrospective cohorts and four were case-control studies. Women with uterine fibroids had a significantly higher risk of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy compared to women without uterine fibroids with RR 1.74 (95% CI 1.33-2.27, p<0.01), and OR 2.87 (95% CI 1.38-5.97, p<0.01), in cohort studies and case-control studies, respectively. In meta-regression analyses, age did not significantly change the positive association between uterine fibroids and hypertensive disorders in pregnancy.
CONCLUSION
Uterine fibroids were associated with an increased risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy when all available literature was synthesized, including when shared risk factors are examined in meta-regression analyses.
RELEVANCE
If confirmed in future studies, investigations into the mechanisms of this association are needed as this finding potentially has implications for risk stratification and monitoring for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in this population.
