INTRODUCTION
According to the PRISMA criteria, a systematic review has been conducted to investigate the clinical relevance between patients with severe congenital neutropenia (SCN) and cyclic congenital neutropenia (CyN) induced by ELANE mutations.
METHODS
We have searched PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane, CNKI, Wanfang Medicine, and VIP for ELANE mutation related literature published from 1997 to 2022. Using Microsoft Excel collect and organize data, SPSS 25, GraphPad Prism 8.0.1, and Omap analyze and plot statistical. Compare the gender, age, geography, mutation sites, infection characteristics, treatment, and other factors of SCN and CyN patients induced by ELANE mutations, with a focus on exploring the relationship between genotype and clinical characteristics, genotype and prognosis.
RESULTS
This study has included a total of 467 patients with SCN and 90 patients with CyN. The onset age of SCN and CyN are both less than 1 year old, and the onset and diagnosis age of SCN are both younger than CyN. The mutation of ELANE gene is mainly missense mutation, and hot spot mutations include S126L, P139L, G214R, c.597+1G>A. The high-frequency mutations with severe outcomes are A57V, L121H, L121P, c.597+1G>A, c.597+1G>T, S126L, C151Y, C151S, G214R, C223X. Respiratory tract, skin and mucosa are the most common infection sites, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli are the most common.
DISCUSSION
Patients with refractory G-CSF are more likely to develop severe outcomes. The commonly used pre-treatment schemes for transplantation are Bu-Cy-ATG and Flu-Bu-ATG. The prognosis of transplantation is mostly good, but the risk of GVHD is high.

BACKGROUND
Detection of carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CR-PA) in humans is important to prevent transmission. However, the most optimal culture method to detect CR-PA is unknown. This systematic review aims to determine which culture method is most sensitive and which culture methods are used to detect CR-PA in humans. Second, to establish the most feasible culture method taking into account the turnaround time (TAT), and third, to provide an overview of the sampling sites used to detect carriage.
METHODS
We systematically searched the electronic databases Embase, Medline Ovid, Cochrane, Scopus, CINAHL, and Web of Science until January 27, 2023. All diagnostic accuracy studies comparing two or more culture methods to detect CR-PA and recent outbreak or surveillance reports on CR-PA carriage or infection in humans, which describe culture methods and their results, were eligible for inclusion. We used QUADAS-2 guideline for diagnostic accuracy studies and the STROBE or ORION guideline for outbreak-surveillance studies to assess the risk of bias.
RESULTS
Six diagnostic accuracy studies were included. An enrichment broth was found to increase the detection of CR-PA. Using an enrichment broth extended the TAT by 18-24 h, yet selective media could reduce the TAT by 24 h compared to routine media. In total, 124 outbreak-surveillance studies were included, of which 17 studies with surveillance samples and 116 studies with clinical samples. In outbreak-surveillance studies with surveillance samples, perianal, rectal swabs or stools were the most common sampling site/specimen (13/17, 76%). A large variety was observed in whether and which kind of enrichment broth and selective media were used.
CONCLUSIONS
We found a benefit of using an enrichment step prior to inoculation of the material onto selective media for the detection of CR-PA. More research is needed to determine the most sensitive sampling site and culture method.

BACKGROUND
is one of the most common pathogens in surgical site infections (SSIs). However, comprehensive epidemiological and antibiotic resistance details for in Chinese SSIs are lacking. We evaluated the proportions and antimicrobial resistance of among patients with SSIs in China.
METHODS
Relevant papers from January 2010 to August 2022 were searched in databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, China Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, and Weipu. A meta-analysis was performed to analyze the proportions and 95% confidence interval (CIs) of among patients with SSIs. Meta-regression analysis was used to investigate the proportion difference among different subgroups and antimicrobial resistance.
RESULTS
A total of 72 studies met inclusion criteria, involving 33 050 isolated strains. The overall proportion of among patients with SSIs was 16.0% (95% CI, 13.9%-18.2%). Subgroup analysis showed higher proportions in orthopedic (18.3% [95% CI, 15.6%-21.0%]) and abdominal surgery (17.3% [95% CI, 9.9%-26.2%]). The proportion in the central region (18.6% [95% CI, 15.3%-22.1%]) was slightly higher than that in other regions. Antibiotic resistance rates significantly increased after 2015: cefoperazone (36.2%), ceftriaxone (38.9%), levofloxacin (20.5%), and aztreonam (24.0%). Notably, resistance to ampicillin and cefazolin exceeded 90.0%.
CONCLUSIONS
The proportion of infection among patients with SSIs was higher than the data reported by the Chinese Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System, indicating rising antimicrobial resistance. The existing antimicrobial drug management plan should be strengthened to prevent a hospital epidemic of drug-resistant strains.

BACKGROUND
Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are a major problem in intensive care units (ICUs). The hospital water environment is a potential reservoir for Gram-negative bacteria (GNB), and it has been shown that contaminated sinks contribute to the spread of GNB in outbreak and non-outbreak settings. This study aimed to investigate which sink interventions may reduce GNB infection and colonization rates in the ICU.
METHODS
A database search (MEDLINE via PubMed, EMBASE via Ovid and ClinicalTrials.gov) was undertaken without restrictions on language or date of publication. Studies of any design were included if they described an intervention on the water fixtures in patient rooms, and presented data about HAI or colonization rates in non-outbreak settings. Acquisition (infection and/or colonization) rates of GNB and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were analysed as outcomes.
RESULTS
In total, 4404 records were identified. Eleven articles were included in the final analysis. No randomized controlled trials were included in the analysis, and all studies were reported to have moderate to serious risk of bias. Removing sinks and applying filters on taps had a significant impact on GNB acquisition, but there was high heterogeneity among reported outcomes and sample size among the studies.
CONCLUSION
Few studies have investigated the association of sinks in patient rooms with healthcare-associated acquisition of GNB in non-outbreak settings. Heterogeneity in study design made it impossible to generalize the results. Prospective trials are needed to further investigate whether removing sinks from patient rooms can reduce the endemic rate of HAIs in the ICU.

Determine the optimal antibiotic choice for lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) in children with neurodisability.
METHODS
Embase, Ovid Emcare and MEDLINE were searched for studies from inception to January 2023. All studies, except case reports, focusing on the antibiotic treatment of LRTI in children, with neurodisabilities were included. Outcomes included length of stay, intensive care admission and mortality.
RESULTS
Nine studies met the inclusion criteria (5115 patients). All the studies were of low quality. The shortest length of stay was with anaerobic and gram-positive cover. Five studies used anaerobic, gram-positive and gram-negative cover (e.g., amoxicillin-clavulanic acid), which was frequently adequate. In one large study, it was better than gram-positive and gram-negative cover alone (e.g. ceftriaxone). Those unresponsive or more unwell at presentation improved faster on Pseudomonas aeruginosa cover (e.g., piperacillin-tazobactam).
CONCLUSION
In this context, anaerobic, gram-positive and gram-negative cover is just as effective as P. aeruginosa cover, supporting empiric treatment with amoxicillin-clavulanic acid. If there is a failure to improve, broadening to include P. aeruginosa could be considered. This is consistent with a consensus statement on the treatment of LRTI in children with neurodisability. An accepted definition for what constitutes LRTI in this cohort is required before designing prospective randomised trials.

BACKGROUND
With increasing awareness of water sinks as potential sources of outbreaks and transmission of multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria in intensive care units (ICUs), there is growing interest in water-free patient care systems. This systematic review reviewed and synthesized available evidence on the effectiveness of sink removal with or without water-free activities in the ICU environment to reduce water-borne healthcare-associated infections.
METHODS
We searched five databases (PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science and Embase) for studies published from 1st January 1980 to 2nd April 2024 that examined water-less or water-free activities in the ICU to reduce healthcare-associated infections and patient colonization.
RESULTS
Of 2,075 articles, seven quasi-experimental studies (total: 332 patient beds) met the study selection criteria. 6/7 studies (85.7%) were based in adult ICUs; one (14%) was in a neonatal ICU. 5/7 sites (71.4%) implemented water-less interventions after an outbreak. Water-free alternatives used included water-less bath products (6/7;85.7%), bottled water for consumption (3/7;42.9%), oral care (3/7;42.9%) and dissolving of oral medication (4/7;57.1%), designated 'contaminated' sink outside of patient and medication preparation areas for disposal of wastewater (4/7; 57.1%). Implicated pathogens studied included MDR gram-negative bacteria (4/7; 57.1%), MDR Pseudomonas aeruginosa only (2/7; 28.6%), and pulmonary non-tuberculous mycobacterium (NTB) (1/7; 14.3%). 5/7 (71.4%) studies reported outbreak cessation.
CONCLUSION
Preliminary evidence, from a limited number of studies of which the majority were conducted in an outbreak setting, suggest that sink removal and other water-free interventions in the ICU helped terminate outbreaks involving taps and decrease hospital-onset respiratory isolation of pulmonary NTB.

Camels are highly suited for severe desert conditions and able to provide most of the natural products like urine, which has been used as alternative medicine to treat diverse infections and disorders. There is, however, a shortage and paucity of scientific reviews highlighting the antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral effects of camel urine. By better understanding its antimicrobial characteristics, our overarching aim is to provide an exhaustive overview of this valuable natural product by synthesizing and summarizing data on the efficacy of this biofluid and also describing the potential substances exhibiting antimicrobial properties. We searched three databases in order to point out relevant articles (Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar) until December 2022. Research articles of interest evaluating the antimicrobial effects of camel urine were selected. Overall, camel urine furnished promising antibacterial activities against gram-positive bacteria, namely (30 mm), (22 mm), (25 mm) and (21 mm), as well as gram-negative bacteria, especially and spp., without forgetting its efficiency on as well. The excretion also showed its potency against H1N1 virus, vesicular stomatitis virus and middle east respiratory syndrome coronavirus. Similarly, the camel urine featured strong antifungal activity against and dermatophytes with a minimal inhibitory concentration of 0.625 μg/ml against , 2.5 μg/ml against and 1.25 μg/ml against and . This comprehensive review will be valuable for researchers interested in investigating the potential of camel urine in the development of novel broad-spectrum key molecules targeting a wide range of drug-resistant pathogenic microorganisms.

The spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major global concern, and the islands of the Southwest Indian Ocean (SWIO) are not exempt from this phenomenon. As strategic crossroads between Southern Africa and the Indian subcontinent, these islands are constantly threatened by the importation of multidrug-resistant bacteria from these regions. In this systematic review, our aim was to assess the epidemiological situation of AMR in humans in the SWIO islands, focusing on bacterial species listed as priority by the World Health Organization. Specifically, we examined Enterobacterales, spp., spp. resistant to carbapenems, and spp. resistant to vancomycin. Our main objectives were to map the distribution of these resistant bacteria in the SWIO islands and identify the genes involved in their resistance mechanisms. We conducted literature review focusing on Comoros, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mayotte, Reunion Island, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and Zanzibar. Our findings revealed a growing interest in the investigation of these pathogens and provided evidence of their active circulation in many of the territories investigated. However, we also identified disparities in terms of data availability between the targeted bacteria and among the different territories, emphasizing the need to strengthen collaborative efforts to establish an efficient regional surveillance network.

This study investigates the potential of using bacteriophages to control foodborne pathogen biofilms on stainless steel surfaces in the food industry. Biofilm-forming bacteria can attach to stainless steel surfaces, rendering them difficult to eradicate even after a thorough cleaning and sanitizing procedures. Bacteriophages have been proposed as a possible solution, as they can penetrate biofilms and destroy bacterial cells within, reducing the number of viable bacteria and preventing the growth and spread of biofilms. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates the potential of bacteriophages against different biofilm-forming foodborne bacteria, including , , , , and . Bacteriophage treatment generally causes a significant average reduction of 38 % in biofilm formation of foodborne pathogens on stainless steel. Subgroup analyses revealed that phages are more efficient in long-duration treatment. Also, applying a cocktail of phages is 1.26-fold more effective than applying individual phages. Phages at concentrations exceeding 10 PFU/ml are significantly more efficacious in eradicating bacteria within a biofilm. The antibacterial phage activity decreases substantially by 3.54-fold when applied at 4 °C compared to temperatures above 25 °C. This analysis suggests that bacteriophages can be a promising solution for controlling biofilms in the food industry.

Hand infection is a rare complication in patients with diabetes. Its clinical outcomes depend on the severity of hand infection caused by bacteria, but the difference in bacterial species in the regional disparity is unknown. The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of tropical and nontropical regions on bacterial species and clinical outcomes for diabetic hand. A systematic literature review was conducted using PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Moreover, the bacterial species and clinical outcomes were analyzed with respect to multicenter wound care in China (nontropical regions). Both mixed bacteria (31.2% vs. 16.6%, p = 0.014) and fungi (7.5% vs. 0.8%, p = 0.017) in the nontropical region were significantly more prevalent than those in the tropical region. Staphylococcus and Streptococcus spp. were dominant in gram-positive bacteria, and Klebsiella, Escherichia coli, Proteus and Pseudomonas in gram-negative bacteria occupied the next majority in the two regions. The rate of surgical treatment in the patients was 31.2% in the nontropical region, which was significantly higher than the 11.4% in the tropical region (p = 0.001). Although the overall mortality was not significantly different, there was a tendency to be increased in tropical regions (6.3%) compared with nontropical regions (0.9%). However, amputation (32.9% vs. 31.3%, p = 0.762) and disability (6.3% vs. 12.2%, p = 0.138) were not significantly different between the two regions. Similar numbers of cases were reported, and the most common bacteria were similar in tropical and nontropical regions in patients with diabetic hand. There were more species of bacteria in the nontropical region, and their distribution was basically similar, except for fungi, which had differences between the two regions. The present study also showed that surgical treatment and mortality were inversely correlated because delays in debridement and surgery can deteriorate deep infections, eventually leading to amputation and even death.
