The growing demand for natural treatments has raised concerns among clinicians due to limited scientific evidence supporting their use. This review article addresses the issue by assisting dermatologists and general practitioners in recommending natural treatments for the following common nail disorders: nail brittleness, onychomycosis, periungual verrucae, paronychia, chloronychia, nail psoriasis, nail lichen planus, onychocryptosis, onycholysis, and congenital malalignment of the great toenail. One limitation is the scarcity of existing reviews on natural treatment options for nail disorders in the literature. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, this article consolidates the available evidence on natural treatment options for these conditions. Although some natural treatments for nail disorders are supported by scientific evidence, the indiscriminate use of such remedies may lead to severe poisoning and health problems. Given the widespread and increasing use of natural treatments, clinicians play a pivotal role in educating patients about evidence-based remedies and debunking misleading claims. By doing so, clinicians can enhance patient safety and improve treatment outcomes. It is essential for healthcare professionals to be well-informed and equipped with the knowledge to differentiate between effective natural treatments and unverified claims, ensuring that patients receive appropriate care.

"Green nails" or chloronychia results from an infection mostly caused by Pseudomonas sp. but also from other bacterial or fungal contamination. Its presents as a typical triad: green discoloration of the nail plate with proximal chronic paronychia and disto-lateral onycholysis. In a moist environment, Pseudomonas colonizes onycholysis of any origin (traumatic, inflammatory or tumoral). Nail color varies from pale green to dark green, almost black. Treatment consists in cutting of the detached nail plate, brushing the nail bed with a 2% sodium hypochlorite solution twice daily accompanied by moisture eviction by wearing latex gloves over cotton ones for all daily household tasks.

BACKGROUND
Data on nail psoriasis (PsO) in China are scarce.
OBJECTIVES
To provide nail PsO-related data regarding epidemiologic characteristics, manifestations, fungal infections, arthritic complaints and treatments that may facilitate improved patient management globally.
METHODS
From August 2021 to August 2022, patients with nail PsO were enrolled in a prospective multicentre observational study at 25 hospitals in China. We collected and analysed data concerning nail PsO demography, clinical signs, fungal detection, arthritic symptoms and treatment.
RESULTS
A total of 817 patients with nail PsO were involved, with a mean body mass index of 24.13 ± 2.93. In addition, 71.41% of the patients were male. The Nail PsO Severity Index score was weakly positively correlated with body surface area. The percentage of nail involvement was 95.29% for fingernails and 57.18% for toenails, with pitting (67.11%) and subungual hyperkeratosis (60.40%) being the most prevalent manifestations, respectively. Toenails showed a significantly higher frequency of nailfold scales, subungual hyperkeratosis and nail plate crumbling and a lower frequency of splinter haemorrhages, pitting and erythema of the lunula. A total of 13.26% of the PsO patients had onychomycosis, and 77.08% were observed in the toenails. Articular symptoms were reported by 12.17% of the patients, with the peripheral type being predominant. Significant associations between articular symptoms and nailfold swelling, subungual hyperkeratosis, nailfold scales, onycholysis and longitudinal ridges were found. Only 2.30% (20 out of 871) of patients with nail PsO received treatment. The most frequently employed therapy for cutaneous PsO with nail involvement was biologic therapy (n = 366).
CONCLUSIONS
PsO showed distinct manifestations in the toenails and fingernails. Additionally, toenail PsO combined with onychomycosis requires special attention. Articular symptoms in psoriatic patients are associated with specific nail changes. It is important to research and advocate for more potent treatments for nail PsO.

Ultrasonography has advantages for assessing psoriatic arthritis (PsA) due to its ability to evaluate several targets, including joints, entheses, and tendons, but also skin and nails. Although ultrasound is widely used in PsA, nail ultrasound, despite its potential as a non-invasive method for the early detection of inflammation in the nail apparatus, has low applicability in medical practice, as probes with a higher frequency are needed compared with the frequency of probes usually used. In the present article, we have narratively evaluated the studies published in the last 5 years (19 February 2018-18 February 2023) on nail ultrasound value in the diagnosis and monitoring of PsA. The studies published during this period share common measurement parameters, such as the OMERACT definition of enthesis published in 2018. We included original articles published in PubMed and Web of Science using the following search terms in all possible combinations: psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis, ultrasound, and nail. Articles were declared relevant if they presented data on nail morphology, power Doppler evaluation and nearby structure evaluation, while focusing on digitorum extensor enthesitis. In most of the studies, common morphological parameters were generally increased in patients with psoriasis or PsA and were demonstrated to change with medication. The thickness of the extensor tendon was greater in patients with PsA and psoriasis versus controls and it was correlated with nail clinical changes, especially the presence of onycholysis. The presence of PD showed large variability in healthy individuals. The link between enthesitis and nail involvement is still a subject of controversy, taking into account the latest histological findings. The use of ultrasound in the evaluation of nail and DIP enthesitis remains a challenge and an area of research in the coming years.

CONTEXT
Genitourinary cancers (GUCs) encompass malignancies affecting the urinary and reproductive systems, including renal cell carcinoma (RCC), urothelial carcinoma (UC), and prostate cancer (PC). With the rapidly evolving therapeutic domain of these cancers, cutaneous adverse events (AEs) remain among the most observed toxicities.
OBJECTIVE
To explore the dermatologic AEs linked to novel GUC treatments, their underlying pathophysiology, clinical presentations, and risk factors.
EVIDENCE ACQUISITION
A narrative review of the literature from PubMed and Embase databases was conducted. The search strategy included dermatologic/cutaneous adverse events, risk factors, and pathophysiology in conjunction with the following classes of therapies; immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), antiangiogenic therapies, enfortumab vedotin (EV), erdafitinib, and androgen receptor antagonists (ARAs).
EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS
Maculopapular rash, pruritus, and alopecia are present among the five classes of therapies. ICIs demonstrate the highest incidence of severe drug AEs including Steven Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis. Unique cutaneous AEs present with specific therapies including hand-foot skin reaction and subungual splinter hemorrhage with antiangiogenic drugs, stomatitis/mucositis and onycholysis with erdafitinib. Incidence and type of cutaneous AE also differed within therapies in the same class as seen with apalutamide displaying the highest risk of cutaneous AEs within ARAs. Risk factors for development of cutaneous AEs can be general to therapies, or specific, and include age, immune status, BMI, and gender.
CONCLUSIONS
Dermatologic AEs may impact patients' quality of life and increase the tendency to dose reduce, hold or discontinue life-saving therapies, underscoring the need for vigilant monitoring, early recognition, and collaborative management between medical oncologists, pharmacists, dermatologists and other specialists.

OBJECTIVES
Spacesuits are designed to be reliable personal spacecraft that preserve the life and well-being of the astronaut from the extremes of space. However, materials, operating pressures, and suit design requirements often result in a risk of musculoskeletal discomfort and injury to various areas of the body. In particular, this investigation looked at fingernails and their risk of developing onycholysis.
METHODS
An onycholysis literature review was followed by a retrospective analysis of injury characteristics, astronaut suited training and spaceflight events, hand anthropometry, glove sizing, and astronaut demographics. Multiple logistic regression was used to assess the likelihood of onycholysis occurrence by testing potential risk variables against the dataset compiled from the retrospective data mining.
RESULTS
The duration of event exposure, type of glove used, distance (delta) between the fingertip and the tip of the glove, sex, and age were found to be significantly related to occurrence of onycholysis (whether protective or injurious).
CONCLUSION
An initial risk formula (model) for onycholysis was developed as a result of this investigation. In addition to validation through a future study, further improvement to this onycholysis equation and spacesuit discomfort and injury in general can be aided by future investigations that lead to better definition of the threshold between safe and risky exposure for each type of risk factor.
APPLICATION
This work described a potential method that can be used for EVA spacesuit glove onycholysis injury risk analysis for either iterative glove design or between glove comparisons, such as during a product downselect process.

INTRODUCTION
Nail psoriasis is common in psoriasis vulgaris and even more prevalent in psoriatic arthritis. Dermatoscopy of the nail proves helpful in enhancing the visualization of psoriatic nail lesions.
OBJECTIVE
This systematic review aimed to summarize the existing studies published in the literature that reported the various dermoscopic features of nail psoriasis.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
A systematic search of two medical databases, PubMed and Scopus, was conducted in April 2023. In total, 11 records were included. The number of reported cases in the included studies was 723.
RESULTS
The average age was 42.39 years. Sixty percent of patients were males, and 40% were females. Pitting constituted the most common onychoscopic feature indicating nail matrix involvement, followed by various other features such as leukonychia, nail plate thickening, transverse and longitudinal ridges, and different lunula abnormalities. The predominant onychoscopic feature indicating nail bed involvement was onycholysis, followed by splinter hemorrhages, oil drop sign, subungual hyperkeratosis, dilated capillaries, agminated capillary dots, erythematous border, and pustules. Vascular abnormalities observed in all locations were present in 52% of patients.
CONCLUSIONS
The clinical signs of nail psoriasis are diverse, and for the majority, they are nonspecific. Nail dermoscopy is a noninvasive tool that enhances the visualization of the nail manifestations of psoriasis. It may facilitate the establishment of diagnostic criteria for this pathology without resorting to more invasive procedures, such as nail biopsy.

INTRODUCTION
Periarticular thenar erythema with onycholysis (PATEO) syndrome is a rare subtype of hand-foot syndrome seen in patients undergoing taxane-based chemotherapy. It presents as erythematous to violaceous plaques on the dorsum of hands, feet, and around the Achilles tendon along with nail changes, particularly onycholysis.
CASE PRESENTATION
A 39-year-old female on paclitaxel chemotherapy for stage IIIA (T3N2aM0) invasive ductal breast carcinoma, presented with mildly tender erythematous to violaceous plaques involving the dorsa of bilateral hands and feet, in the periarticular areas of the Achilles tendon, with facial involvement. All fingernails showed shortening, orange-red chromonychia, Beau's lines, onychoschizia, and subungual debris. The toenail involvement was relatively less severe, with distal onycholysis being the predominant finding. The patient showed significant improvement in cutaneous lesions with topical steroid therapy and was advised cold water immersion during subsequent chemotherapy infusions.
DISCUSSION
A shorter interval between cycles and a higher cumulative number of cycles correlate with severity of dermatitis and nail involvement. Rarely, periocular and facial involvement can occur concurrently with PATEO syndrome. This case is being reported to increase awareness about this entity facilitating early diagnosis and treatment.
