OBJECTIVES
To evaluate the content and quality of information about orthodontic pain on YouTube.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
YouTube was searched using the keywords "orthodontic pain" and "brace pain." A total of 65 videos were chosen for the final analysis. Videos were classified into high- and low-content groups using an eight-point scoring system and reviewed according to selected orthodontic pain-related topics. Video quality was rated by the Video Information and Quality Index (VIQI) and Global Quality Scale (GQS). Statistical data analysis was performed using SPSS 28.0 software, Mann-Whitney U-tests, χ2 tests, and Spearman correlation coefficients.
RESULTS
Most YouTube videos related to orthodontic pain were low content (86.2%), and a few were high content (13.8%). Pharmacological pain relief was the most prevalent topic (50.8%), followed by duration of pain (32.3%) and influence of pain on patient quality of life (29.2%). The least-mentioned topic was possible location of pain (7.7%). Most of the videos were uploaded by laypeople (64.6%). Videos uploaded by dental professionals had significantly higher means of GQS scores (P = .035), flow of information (P < .001), information quality (P = .008), and total VIQI (P < .001). Compared with low-content, high-content videos had a higher mean of flow of information (P = .037). There was a weak correlation between total content and GQS scores and a strong correlation between GQS and VIQI scores (r = 0.740; P < .01).
CONCLUSIONS
Overall, YouTube was found to be an inadequate source of information on orthodontic pain.

Currently, ligature-free bracket technologies, including self-ligating brackets (SLBs), are all the rage in orthodontics. Self-ligating mechanisms have been shown to be more effective and less time-consuming in orthodontic treatment than traditional appliances due to their enhanced frictional properties. Crucial to the success of the multi-band/bracket method is the transmission of forces and moments from the bracket to the archwire. Advances in bracket design and ligation techniques are constantly being made to better distribute loads and increase the efficiency of leveling.

The current article aims to review the previous studies that measure the orthodontic bracket slot dimensions and geometry. Searches in different databases, including PubMed Central, Science Direct, Wiley Online Library, the Cochrane Library, Textbooks, Google Scholar, and Research Gate, in addition to a manual search, were performed about the methods of assessing orthodontic bracket slot dimension up to March 2023. The irrelevant and duplicate studies were eliminated, leaving 35 studies for this narrative review. The findings indicate that the slots are oversized with diverging walls in most studies. Manufacturers must respect the standards during manufacturing brackets and adhere to the actual dimensions and tolerance values.

The straight-wire appliance is an individualized, fully-programmed appliance system that has been in clinical use since the early 1970s. A study of tooth positions in individuals with naturally occurring harmonious occlusions led to the discovery of the Six Keys to Normal (Optimal) Occlusion which provided data for bracket features and prescription values incorporated into the straight-wire appliance. It was based on the notion that tooth anatomy, morphology, and optimal positions were alike enough among individuals, regardless of age, sex, or race to justify using prefabricated brackets with average prescription values. New technologies have led to advancements in appliance customization. Customized brackets can be made-to-order with one-of-a-kind prescription values and bracket base contours that fit precisely to the morphologic characteristics of the teeth. If costs and material qualities were comparable, would treatment efficiency or treatment outcomes be superior when using a customized appliance compared with a prefabricated straight-wire appliance? If not, why not?

OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the enamel bonding ability and orthodontic adhesive resin degree of conversion using the experimental bracket design. . Thirteen bovine teeth were used in the study. The experimental bracket was modified with a translucent region in the center of its body. After enamel etching, Orthocem orthodontic adhesive (FGM, Joinville, Brazil) was applied on the bracket base for bonding. The groups were divided as follows ( = 10 per group): (1) control (CB) with standard brackets and (2) spot bracket (SB) with experimental brackets featuring a 0.8 mm translucent region at the center using carbide bur. Shear bond strength (SBS) was evaluated after 24 hours in a universal testing machine and adhesive remnant index (ARI). The degree of conversion (DC) was analyzed using Raman spectroscopy ( = 3 per group). Data were then analyzed using Student's -test and Mann-Whitney statistical methods.
RESULTS
The SB group exhibited a higher mean SBS (10.33 MPa) compared to the CB Group (8.77 MPa). However, there was no statistical difference between the groups ( = 0.376). Both SB and CB groups had a mean ARI score of 1. Raman analysis revealed a higher degree of conversion in the SB group (49.3%) compared to the CB group (25.9%).
CONCLUSIONS
The experimental support showed a higher degree of adhesive conversion, although there was no significant increase in bond strength.

Orthodontic aligners are changing the practice of orthodontics. This system of orthodontic appliances is becoming the mainstay appliance of choice for orthodontic offices in many countries. Patient preferences and lifestyle needs have made this appliance the primary choice when seeking care. In the early days, appliances lacked the efficiency and effectiveness of traditional bracket-wire systems, but modern systems are now able to handle a more comprehensive orthodontic caseload. Current systems provide newer biomechanical strategies and artificial intelligence-driven tooth movements for better outcomes. These improvements now mean that an orthodontist can be better prepared to manage a larger number of orthodontic malocclusions. This paper aims to discuss some of the evolution of orthodontic aligners and to describe to orthodontists the fundamentals of aligner therapy. In addition, it will provide an evidence-based outcome to the existing treatment outcomes in the current literature.

Braces are undoubtedly a blessing for those whose teeth are misaligned in various ways, yet many people may not enjoy the traditional metal braces. However, some people are totally fine with having their teeth fused with the set of metal brackets and various metal components flowing through. A few people may simply not feel comfortable in that way. Orthodontists have developed a huge array of bracket styles by concentrating on the wide range of preferences and financial constraints that their patients present. These various dental bracket types are all advantageous from one point of view or another. Orthodontic supplies and materials are being produced using technology that is advancing exponentially. Every day, more technologies, processes, and designs emerge. These tools assist the orthodontist in providing patients with the best functional and cosmetic outcomes. Since Edward Hartley Angle's time through MBT brackets and then lingual brackets, orthodontic brackets have advanced significantly. Orthodontists' lives have been greatly facilitated by these brackets. Numerous new materials and designs will be developed as technology progresses. The purpose of this article was to give a general overview of the different orthodontic brackets and demonstrate how the logic underlying them helps orthodontists in their day-to-day jobs.

To quantify and compare the metal ions released from different bracket-wire combinations and to assess their cytotoxicity.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
A total of 360 fabricated sectional fixed orthodontic appliances were divided into 6 groups. The first three groups consisted of stainless-steel brackets with stainless-steel, snickel-titanium (NiTi), and titanium-molybdenum alloy (TMA) archwires, and the other three groups were fabricated using ceramic brackets (polycrystalline alumina) with stainless-steel, NiTi, and TMA archwires. These appliances were immersed in artificial saliva (pH 6.5 ± 0.5, 37°C), for 1 week, 2 weeks, and 1 month. The nickel and chromium ions released in the artificial saliva were quantified using a flame atomic absorption spectrometer, and cytotoxicity assessment was performed using a 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay on human cervical cancer cell line.
RESULTS
The stainless-steel bracket groups displayed a significantly greater release of nickel and chromium ions compared to the ceramic bracket groups ( < 0.05). However, no significant differences were identified when comparing the three archwire types within the stainless-steel/ceramic bracket groups. At the end of 1 month, the % cell viability demonstrated by the appliances was in the decreasing order of stainless-steel-TMA > ceramic-stainless steel > stainless-steel-NiTi > ceramic-NiTi > stainless-steel-stainless steel > ceramic-TMA.
CONCLUSION
Considerably greater release of nickel and chromium ions was observed from the appliances utilizing stainless-steel brackets compared to those employing ceramic brackets. However, no remarkable difference in the levels of nickel and chromium ions was observed when comparing the three archwires: stainless steel, NiTi, and TMA. In the cytotoxicity assessment, the ceramic-TMA combination displayed the highest level of cytotoxicity, while the stainless-steel-TMA combination displayed the least cytotoxicity.

OBJECTIVE
Aim: To review and analyze modern professional literature on the impact of orthodontic treatment of maxillofacial anomalies on the periodontal status of patients, in particular, the subsiqent pathogenetic mechanisms of the development of periodontal diseases in this category of patients.
PATIENTS AND METHODS
Materials and Methods: Bibliometric and analytical methods were used data from international scientific sources in the field of studying the impact of orthodontic treatment on the state of periodontal tissues were used. Conclusions: Patients undergoing orthodontic treatment need the increased attention to the state of periodontal tissues and regular high-quality both professional and individual oral hygiene. A comprehensive approach to treatment and preventive measures for periodontal diseases, taking into account all pathogenetic links of their development in this category of patients, aims not only to keep the periodontium healthy, but also to ensure successful completion of orthodontic treatment. Taking into account consideration the periodontal status of patients allows individual correction of the treatment plan to increase its clinical effectiveness both in the early and in the long term.
