OBJECTIVE
To review the research progress of pubic symphysis diastasis and provide effective reference for orthopedic surgeons in the diagnosis and treatment of pubic symphysis diastasis.
METHODS
The anatomy, injury mechanism, treatment, and other aspects of pubic symphysis diastasis were summarized and analyzed by reviewing the relevant research literature at domestically and internationally in recent years.
RESULTS
The incidence of pubic symphysis diastasis is high in pelvic fractures, which is caused by the injury of the ligaments and fibrocartilage disc around the pubic symphysis by external force. The treatment plan should be individualized according to the pelvic stability and the needs of patients, aiming to restore the stability and integrity of the pelvis and improve the quality of life of patients after surgery.
CONCLUSION
At present, the research on pubic symphysis diastasis still needs to be improved. In the future, high-quality, multi-center, and large-sample studies are of great significance for the selection of treatment methods and the evaluation of effectiveness for patients with pubic symphysis diastasis.

The osseous pelvis is a well-known area of various primary and secondary bone tumours, tumour mimics, and infections. Isolated lesions of the pubis (ILP) are rare, with few case reports in the literature. Given their sparsity, such lesions may pose a great diagnostic challenge due to varied clinical presentations and imaging features. In this study, we report the largest case series of ILP. We discuss the patient demographics, differentials, surgical approaches, and management.

The last 2 decades have seen an emergence of endoscopic technologies and techniques allowing for minimally invasive modalities for assessing and sampling lesions outside of the gastrointestinal lumen, including the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. Incorporating these new endoscopic approaches has revolutionized the diagnosis and staging of extra-luminal malignancies and has enabled more accessible and safer tissue acquisition.

BACKGROUND
Existing classification systems may not adequately describe the injury patterns seen pelvic ring and acetabular fractures in the skeletally immature population. Pediatric patients, once stabilized, are often transferred for these injuries. We evaluated which commonly used systems correlate with clinical management in pediatric patients, including transfer patterns based on injury severity.
METHODS
A retrospective review of patients aged 1 to 15 treated for traumatic pelvic or acetabular fractures over a 10-year period at an academic level I Pediatric Trauma Center reviewed demographic, radiographic, and clinical data.
RESULTS
A total of 188 pediatric patients (average age 10.1 y) were included. Increasing injury severity based on classification Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen/Orthopaedic Trauma Association (AO/OTA P <0.001; Young and Burgess P <0.001; Torode/Zieg P <0.001), increasing Injury Severity Score ( P =0.0017), and decreasing hemoglobin levels ( P =0.0144) were significantly associated with operative management. Injury characteristics did not differ between patients who were transferred versus patients who were brought in directly from the field. Air transport was significantly associated with surgical treatment, pediatric intensive care unit admission, polytrauma, and Torode/Zieg classification ( P =0.036, <0.0001, 0.0297, 0.0003, respectively).
CONCLUSIONS
Although not fully descriptive of skeletally immature fracture patterns, the AO/OTA and Young and Burgess classification systems adequately assess the severity of pelvic rings and injuries in pediatric patients and predict management patterns. The Torode and Zieg classification also predicts management. In a large cohort, air transport was significantly associated with surgical treatment, need for pediatric intensive care unit stay, the presence of an additional injury, and instability in the Torode and Zieg classification. These findings suggest that air transfers are being utilized to expedite advanced-level care in more severe injuries. Further studies with long-term follow-up are required to assess the clinical outcomes of both nonoperatively and operatively treated pediatric pelvic fractures and to guide both triage and treatment decisions for these rare but severe injuries.

The urinary bladder primarily functions as a reservoir for urine. Apparently, it serves only a mechanical and passive role in the urinary tract, but closer scrutiny reveals that it has several meaningful endocrine interactions. This vital organ has an intricate plexus of neurons that release neurohormones concerned with the functioning of the bladder. Endocrine disorders, most notably diabetes, can cause a broad spectrum of bladder dysfunction. The current review explores the bladder as a source of neurotransmitters, a target for organ damage due to uncontrolled endocrinopathy, a beneficiary of hormonal therapy, and a tool to improve endocrine health.

Image-guided focal therapy has increased in popularity as a treatment option for patients with primary and locally recurrent prostate cancer. This review will cover the basic indications, evaluation, treatment algorithm, and follow-up for patients undergoing image-guided ablation of the prostate. Additionally, this paper will serve as an overview of some technical approaches to cases so that physicians can familiarize themselves with working in this space. While the focus of this paper is prostate cryoablation, readers will obtain a basic literature overview of some of the additional available image-guided treatment modalities for focal prostate therapy.

Primary sarcomas of bone are rare malignant mesenchymal tumors. The most common bone sarcomas are osteosarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma, and chondrosarcoma. The prognosis has improved over the years, but bone sarcomas are still life-threatening tumors that need a multidisciplinary approach for diagnosis and treatment. Bone sarcomas arising in the pelvis present a unique challenge to orthopedic oncologists due to the absence of natural anatomical barriers, the close proximity of vital neurovascular structures, and the high mechanical demands placed on any pelvic reconstruction following the excision of the tumor. While radiotherapy has an important role especially in Ewing's sarcoma and chemotherapy for both Ewing's sarcoma and osteosarcoma, surgery remains the main choice of treatment for all three entities. While external hemipelvectomy has remained one option, the main aim of surgery is limb salvage. After complete tumor resection, the bone defect needs to be reconstructed. Possibilities to reconstruct the defect include prosthetic or biological reconstruction. The method of reconstruction is dependent on the location of tumor and the surgery required for its removal. The aim of this article is to give an insight into pelvic bone sarcomas, their oncological and surgical outcomes, and the options for treatment based on the authors' experiences.

BACKGROUND
The triad of 3D design, 3D printing, and xReality technologies is explored and exploited to collaboratively realize patient-specific products in a timely manner with an emphasis on designs with meta-(bio)materials.
METHODS
A case study on pelvic reconstruction after oncological resection (osteosarcoma) was selected and conducted to evaluate the applicability and performance of an inter-epistemic workflow and the feasibility and potential of 3D technologies for modeling, optimizing, and materializing individualized orthopedic devices at the point of care (PoC).
RESULTS
Image-based diagnosis and treatment at the PoC can be readily deployed to develop orthopedic devices for pre-operative planning, training, intra-operative navigation, and bone substitution.
CONCLUSIONS
Inter-epistemic symbiosis between orthopedic surgeons and (bio)mechanical engineers at the PoC, fostered by appropriate quality management systems and end-to-end workflows under suitable scientifically amalgamated synergies, could maximize the potential benefits. However, increased awareness is recommended to explore and exploit the full potential of 3D technologies at the PoC to deliver medical devices with greater customization, innovation in design, cost-effectiveness, and high quality.
