This review provides a summary of the recently ratified changes to genus and species nomenclature within the virus family Flaviviridae along with reasons for these changes. First, it was considered that the vernacular terms "flaviviral", "flavivirus", and "flaviviruses" could under certain circumstances be ambiguous due to the same word stem "flavi" in the taxon names Flaviviridae and Flavivirus; these terms could either have referred to all viruses classified in the family Flaviviridae or only to viruses classified in the included genus Flavivirus. To remove this ambiguity, the genus name Flavivirus was changed to Orthoflavivirus by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV). Second, all species names in the family were changed to adhere to a newly ICTV-mandated binomial format (e.g., Orthoflavivirus zikaense, Hepacivirus hominis) similar to nomenclature conventions used for species elsewhere in biology. It is important to note, however, that virus names remain unchanged. Here we outline the revised taxonomy of the family Flaviviridae as approved by the ICTV in April 2023.

Poliomyelitis is an acute infectious disease caused by poliovirus. This bibliometric analysis aims to examine the status of poliomyelitis research in the past 20 years. Information regarding polio research was obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Excel were used to perform visual and bibliometric analysis with respect to countries/regions, institutions, authors, journals and keywords. A total of 5,335 publications on poliomyelitis were published from 2002 to 2021. The USA was the county with the majority of publications. Additionally, the most productive institution was the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Sutter, RW produced the most papers and had the most co-citations. was the journal with the most polio-related publications and citations. The most common keywords were mainly about polio immunology research ("polio," "immunization," "children," "eradication" and "vaccine"). Our study is helpful for identifying research hotspots and providing direction for future research on poliomyelitis.

VACCINATION OF SENIORS. In France, the vaccination schedule for seniors (people aged 65 and over) recommends 4 vaccinations (Covid-19, flu, DTP [diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis] and shingles), plus 3 others in the event of a particular risk (pneumococcus, whooping cough, hepatitis A). Nevertheless, vaccination coverage for these infectious diseases remains insufficient, making an increasingly heavy medical and economic burden in an aging population. Vaccination of seniors must become a priority public health objective and involve all health professionals, first and foremost treating physicians. It must be improved by integrating advances in vaccinology and digital technologies into a program aimed at maintaining vaccination coverage throughout life.
