Despite the development of implant-supported prostheses, there are still patients for whom conservative treatments such as resin-bonded fixed dental prostheses (RBFDPs) are more appropriate. This study's objective was to analyze the available research on full-ceramic RBFDPs. In this study, Web of Science, MEDLINE/PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar databases were searched for articles published in English between 2010 and 2020. A total of 14 studies were reviewed based on the eligibility criteria. The results showed that using a cantilever design with one abutment had an advantage over two abutments. Additionally, it was proposed that preparations designed with retentive aids, such as a proximal box, groove, and pinhole, could improve RBFDP survival rates. IPS e.max ZirCAD, In-Ceram alumina, and zirconia CAD/CAM were the most commonly used framework materials. Most studies used air abrasion, salinization, or hydrofluoric acid for surface treatment. Adhesive resin cements were the most frequently used type of cement. The survival rate of In-Ceram ceramics (85.3%-94.8%) was lower than that of In-Ceram zirconia and IPS e.max ZirCAD. Debonding, followed by framework fracture, was the leading cause of failure. Following 3-10 years follow-up, the survival percentage of all-ceramic RBFDPs ranged from 76% to 100%. Although RBFDPs have demonstrated satisfactory success as a conservative treatment, long-term follow-ups and higher sample sizes in clinical research are required to gain more reliable outcomes on the clinical success rate of various RBFDP designs.

AIM
The aim of this study was to assess whether açaí compromises the surface colour and roughness of RMGIC in vitro.
MATERIALS AND METHOD
Disc-shaped specimens (2 mm thick, 8 mm in diameter) of Vitremer™ (3M ESPE, St Paul, MN, USA) were prepared according to the manufacturer 's instructions. The mixture was inserted into a silicone mouldplaced between two mylar strips, and light cured. Specimens were randomly divided into three groups (n=25) according to the solutions to be used for chemical degradation: artificial saliva (control), açaí sorbet and açaí juice. A spectrophotometer CM-2600d/2500d (Konica Minolta, Tokyo, Japan) was used to analyse the colour (CIELa*b* scale). Surface roughness (Ra, mm) was measuredusing theprofilometer Surfcorder SE 1700 (Kosaka Corp, Tokyo, Japan). The specimens were subjected to three daily soaks (6 ml, 15 minutes) for 14 days at 37°C. They were washed in distilled water and placed in fresh saliva (30 minutes in the interval). After the third soak in a day, they were stored in fresh saliva overnight. Outcomes were analysed at baseline (L*, a*, b*, Ra) and after degradation (L'*, a'*, b'*, Ra').
RESULTS
The pH values of saliva, sorbet, and juice were 7.0, 3.8, and 4.9, respectively. ΔE* values were 6.6 for saliva, 6.9 for sorbet and 7.8 for juice. There was a significant ΔE* difference between saliva (p=0.005) and juice (p=0.002), and between juice and sorbet (p=0.019), but none between saliva and sorbet (p=0.401). There was no significant Δb* difference between the solutions. No difference between juice and sorbet was observed for Δa*, but they were significantly different from saliva (p<0.001). Brightness (L*) changed significantly. Juice showed the highest ΔE* (7.8) and ΔL* (7.7). No significant change was observed for roughness and there was no difference between the solutions for ARa.
CONCLUSIONS
Açaí and saliva led to unacceptable staining, but no significant roughness changes in the resin-modified glass-ionomer cement.

Calcium phosphate cements (CPC) are currently widely used bone replacement materials with excellent bioactivity, but have considerable disadvantages like slow degradation. For critical-sized defects, however, an improved degradation is essential to match the tissue regeneration, especially in younger patients who are still growing. We demonstrate that a combination of CPC with mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG) particles led to an enhanced degradation and in a critical alveolar cleft defect in rats. Additionally, to support new bone formation the MBG was functionalized with hypoxia conditioned medium (HCM) derived from rat bone marrow stromal cells. HCM-functionalized scaffolds showed an improved cell proliferation and the highest formation of new bone volume. This highly flexible material system together with the drug delivery capacity is adaptable to patient specific needs and has great potential for clinical translation.

In this study, fine powders of tristrontium aluminate (SA) and distrontium cerate (SCe) cement were prepared using a dry grinding process, and their mechanical and ion dissolution properties were estimated. Fine cements showed the particles about 10 μm in diameter or smaller with sharp particle size distribution curves. The setting reaction of the fine cements was rapid; therefore, a 0.1% w/v of citric acid solution was used as the retarder. The compressive strengths of the fine cements were improved compared to those of the coarse cements at both 1 and 28 days after mixing at a water/powder ratio (W/P) of 0.4. The dissolution of Sr and Al ions from fine SA cement was enhanced. However, the relative flowability decreases with fine grinding. Further studies on flowability, handling property are required. Additionally, the biological effects of endodontic cement should be studied both in vitro and in vivo.

The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the clinical performance of glass-ionomer cement (GIC) and resin-modified glass-ionomer cement (RMGIC) materials in Class V carious cervical lesions restored by dental students. Ninety-six (96) restorations performed with either GIC (Fuji IX) (n = 39) or RMGIC (Fuji II LC) (n = 57) were evaluated using the modified USPHS criteria by two independent investigators at two follow-up evaluations (two years apart). The Fisher statistical test was used to compare USPHS criteria and examine significant differences, with a significance level set at < 0.05. The Kaplan-Meier algorithm was used to calculate the survival probability. The overall success rate of Class V restorations was 72.9% at the second follow-up evaluation, with restorations ranging in age from 2.5 to 3.5 years. The RMGIC (Fuji II LC) restorations exhibited a significantly higher overall success rate compared to the GIC (Fuji IX) restorations ( = 0.0104). Significant differences were observed in retention ( = 0.0034) and color match ( = 0.0023).

Single-tooth implant restorations, whether screw-retained or cement-retained, are essential for prosthodontic rehabilitation despite having low design flexibility, cosmetic appeal, and high 5-year survival rates.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
A study involving 14 patients with missing mandibular first molars used 28 implants and cement-retained and screw-retained prostheses. Patients had a single edentulous gap, adequate dental hygiene, and sufficient bone volume at the implant site. The study adhered to the Helsinki Declaration, followed WHO 2007 safety guidelines, and evaluated soft tissue, bone height, and bone loss. Data analysis included the Student's -test and Mann-Whitney -test.
RESULTS
In patients between the ages of 17 and 46, single-implant restorations were compared with cement- and screw-retained at 6 months. Abutment screw loosening and peri-implant soft-tissue traits did not differ significantly from one another.
CONCLUSION
The study compared screw- and cement-retained implant restorations in 28 single-tooth implant-supported prostheses over a 6-month functional loading period, finding no significant improvement in either approach.

To investigate the color stability of light-cured (LC) restorative material in different pediatric drug formulations.
METHOD
Two distinct restorative materials, specifically LC resin and LC glass ionomer cement (GIC), were employed to create 88 disc-shaped specimens. These comprised 44 specimens fabricated from each material. Each specimen had a diameter of 5 mm and a height of 3 mm. To conduct the experiment, specimens were randomly allocated into four experimental groups, each containing 11 specimens made of each material. This division was accomplished through the use of a stratified random sampling method. The five experimental groups and their respective liquid medications were as follows: Group 1 - montelukast sodium and levocetirizine dihydrochloride syrup, Group 2 - cefixime, Group 3 - sodium valproate, and Group 4 - metronidazole. To ensure thorough exposure to the medications, all samples underwent a two-minute agitation cycle, which was repeated every 12 h over the course of one week. Following the immersion period, the color stability of all specimens was assessed using a spectrophotometer. The data obtained from the color stability measurements were subjected to statistical analysis using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by a post hoc test. The aim was to determine whether significant differences in color stability were observed among the groups studied.
RESULTS
The mean values and standard deviations of ΔE were calculated. The highest values of ΔE were observed in Group 3 (4.70 ± 1.89), followed by Group 4 (4.04 ± 2.10). Conversely, the lowest ΔE values were observed in Group 2 (3.23 ± 2.02) and Group 1 (3.24 ± 2.31). The calculated p-value was 0.298, and the F-value was 1.269.
CONCLUSION
This study concludes that both restorative materials, LC composite and LC GIC, are susceptible to discoloration. Sodium valproate exhibited the greatest staining effect on both materials. Conversely, cefixime had the least impact on the color of the LC composite, whereas montelukast had the least effect on the color of LC GIC.

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE
One of the challenges in adhesive ceramic restorations is deterioration of tooth-cement-ceramic interfaces. This study was to quantitatively investigate lipopolysaccharide (LPS) penetration through adhesive ceramic restorations.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Standardized holes were formed on ceramic (IPS Empress CAD, Ivoclar Vivadent) and human dentin discs. Prepared discs were randomly assigned to experimental groups (n = 6/group): SC, self-adhesive resin cement (SmartCem 2, Dentsply Sirona) bonded to ceramic discs; ST, self-adhesive resin cement bonded to dentin discs; VC, etch-and-rinse resin cement (Variolink II, Ivoclar Vivadent AG) bonded to ceramic discs; VT, etch-and-rinse resin cement bonded to dentin discs. The specimens underwent thermocycling (10,000 cycles; 5-55 °C) then LPS penetration test until 5-weeks. A mixed effect analysis using R statistical language was performed for data analysis.
RESULTS
Dentin and ceramic bonded with etch-and-rinse resin cements (groups VT and VC) showed significantly less penetration than those with self-adhesive resin cement (groups ST and SC) ( < 0.05). ST showed significantly lower penetration than SC ( < 0.05), that showed similar penetration with positive control ( > 0.05). VC showed minimal penetration during observed time of period ( < 0.05). Scanning electron microscope observations showed different interfacial characteristics among the groups.
CONCLUSION
Within the limitation of this study, etch-and-rinse resin cement showed less LPS penetration than self-adhesive resin cement on both ceramic and dentin surfaces.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of surface treatments and resin cement on the adhesion of ceramic and ceramic-like materials to titanium. A total of 40 specimens (5 mm diameter) of each material (lithium disilicate glass ceramic (LDGC-IPS e.maxCAD), lithium silicate glass ceramic (LSGC-VITA Suprinity) and a polymer-infiltrated ceramic network (PICN-Vita Enamic)) were fabricated using CAD/CAM technologies. In total, 120 titanium (Ti) specimens were divided into 12 groups, and half of the titanium specimens were tribochemically coated using CoJet. The titanium and all-ceramic specimens were cemented using either Self-curing adhesive cement (SCAC-Panavia 21) or a Self-curing luting composite (SCLC-Multilink Hybrid Abutment). After 5000 cycles of thermal aging, the shear bond strength (SBS) test was conducted using a universal testing machine. The failure modes of the specimens were analyzed using stereomicroscopy, and additionally, the representative specimens were observed using Scanning Electron Microscopy. ANOVA was used for the statistical analysis ( < 0.05). The post-hoc Duncan test was used to determine significant differences between the groups. The mean SBS values (mean ± STD) ranged from 15 ± 2 MPa to 29 ± 6 MPa. Significantly higher SBS values were acquired when the titanium surface was tribochemically coated ( < 0.05). The SCLC showed higher SBS values compared to the SCAC. While the LDGC showed the highest SBS values, the PICN presented the lowest. The tribochemical coating on the cementation surfaces of the titanium increased the SBS values. The specimens cemented with the SCLC showed higher SBS values than those with the SCAC. Additionally, the SCLC cement revealed a more significant increase in SBS values when used with the LDGC. The material used for restoration has a high impact on SBS than those of the cement and surface conditioning.

Efficacy of Calcium Enriched Mixture Cement, Mineral Trioxide Aggregate and Calcium Hydroxide Used as Direct Pulp Capping Agents in Deep Carious Lesions - A Randomised Clinical Trial.
OBJECTIVE
The primary objective of this randomised clinical trial was to evaluate the efficacy of Calcium Enriched Mixture (CEM) cement compared to Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) and Calcium Hydroxide (CH) in maintaining pulp vitality when used for direct pulp capping (DPC) of deep carious lesions with reversible pulpitis and secondary objective was to assess the overall success of DPC in carious exposures.
METHODS
One hundred and fifty patients diagnosed with reversible pulpitis with deep carious lesions were included in this study. Patients were randomly allocated into three groups (n=50), Group C: CEM group, Group M: MTA group, and Group D: CH (Dycal) group. After caries removal by mechanical excavation except for one carious spot, the removal of which resulted in the exposure of the pulp, the final carious spot was removed with a sterile no.2 round carbide bur. After haemostasis, the pulpal wound was dressed by a capping agent, followed immediately by permanent restoration. Patients were assessed for successful outcomes based on positive vitality tests, absence of clinical signs and symptoms, and PAI scores after 1, 3, 6, 12, and 18-month follow-up periods. The ANOVA test was employed to analyse quantitative variables, and the Pearson Chi-square test was used for qualitative variables. A Bonferroni Test was employed as the post hoc test for intergroup comparison. The significance level was set at p≤0.05 within all tests.
RESULTS
The percentage of success in Group C was 86.7%, Group M was 77.3%, and Group D was 57.9%. This study's overall success rate after direct pulp capping of deep carious lesions was 74.8%. A statistically significant difference in PAI score was found between Groups C and D. Pain on percussion and response to vitality tests also showed significant differences among the three groups at the one-month follow-up.
CONCLUSION
CEM cement had comparable efficacy to MTA and was superior to CH in maintaining pulpal vitality following DPC in teeth with reversible pulpitis. An overall success rate of 74.8% indicated that DPC in deep carious lesions with reversible pulpitis could yield favourable clinical outcomes. (EEJ-2022-11-134).
