INTRODUCTION
Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are often iron deficient, even when not anemic. This trial evaluated whether iron supplementation enhances exercise capacity of nonanemic patients with CKD who have iron-deficiency.
METHODS
Prospective, multicenter double-blind randomized controlled trial of nondialysis patients with CKD and iron-deficiency but without anemia (Hemoglobin [Hb] >110 g/l). Patients were assigned 1:1 to intravenous (IV) iron therapy, or placebo. An 8-week exercise program commenced at week 4. The primary outcome was the mean between-group difference in 6-minute walk test (6MWT) at 4 weeks. Secondary outcomes included 6MWT at 12 weeks, transferrin saturation (TSAT), serum ferritin (SF), Hb, renal function, muscle strength, functional capacity, quality of life, and adverse events at baseline, 4 weeks, and at 12 weeks. Mean between-group differences were analyzed using analysis of covariance models.
RESULTS
Among 75 randomized patients, mean (SD) age for iron therapy ( = 37) versus placebo ( = 38) was 54 (16) versus 61 (12) years; estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) (34 [12] vs. 35 [11] ml/min per 1.73 m], TSAT (23 [12] vs. 21 [6])%; SF (57 [64] vs. 62 [33]) μg/l; Hb (122.4 [9.2] vs. 127 [13.2] g/l); 6MWT (384 [95] vs. 469 [142] meters) at baseline, respectively. No significant mean between-group difference was observed in 6MWT distance at 4 weeks. There were significant increases in SF and TSAT at 4 and 12 weeks ( < 0.02), and Hb at 12 weeks ( = 0.009). There were no between-group differences in other secondary outcomes and no adverse events attributable to iron therapy.
CONCLUSION
This trial did not demonstrate beneficial effects of IV iron therapy on exercise capacity at 4 weeks. A larger study is needed to confirm if IV iron is beneficial in nondialysis patients with CKD who are iron-deficient.

BACKGROUND This study explored the integration of conductive threads into a microfluidic compact disc (CD), developed using the xurographic method, for a potential sweat biosensing platform. MATERIAL AND METHODS The microfluidic CD platform, fabricated using the xurographic method with PVC films, included venting channels and conductive threads linked to copper electrodes. With distinct microfluidic sets for load and metering, flow control, and measurement, the CD's operation involved spinning for sequential liquid movement. Impedance analysis using HIOKI IM3590 was conducted for saline and artificial sweat solutions on 4 identical CDs, ensuring reliable conductivity and measurements over a 1 kHz to 200 kHz frequency range. RESULTS Significant differences in |Z| values were observed between saline and artificial sweat treatments. 27.5 μL of saline differed significantly from 27.5 μL of artificial sweat, 72.5 μL of saline from 72.5 μL of artificial sweat, and 192.5 μL of saline from 192.5 μL of sweat. Significant disparities in |Z| values were observed between dry fibers and Groups 2, 3, and 4 (varying saline amounts). No significant differences emerged between dry fibers and Groups 6, 7, and 8 (distinct artificial sweat amounts). These findings underscore variations in fiber characteristics between equivalent exposures, emphasizing the nuanced response of the microfluidic CD platform to different liquid compositions. CONCLUSIONS This study shows the potential of integrating conductive threads in a microfluidic CD platform for sweat sensing. Challenges in volume control and thread coating degradation must be addressed for transformative biosensing devices in personalized healthcare.

Satellite remote sensing is widely being used by the researchers and geospatial scientists due to its free data access for land observation and agricultural activities monitoring. The world is suffering from food shortages due to the dramatic increase in population and climate change. Various crop genotypes can survive in harsh climatic conditions and give more production with less disease infection. Remote sensing can play an essential role in crop genotype identification using computer vision. In many studies, different objects, crops, and land cover classification is done successfully, while crop genotypes classification is still a gray area. Despite the importance of genotype identification for production planning, a significant method has yet to be developed to detect the genotypes varieties of crop yield using multispectral radiometer data. In this study, three genotypes of wheat crop (Aas-'2011', 'Miraj-'08', and 'Punjnad-1) fields are prepared for the investigation of multispectral radio meter band properties. Temporal data (every 15 days from the height of 10 feet covering 5 feet in the circle in one scan) is collected using an efficient multispectral Radio Meter (MSR5 five bands). Two hundred yield samples of each wheat genotype are acquired and manually labeled accordingly for the training of supervised machine learning models. To find the strength of features (five bands), Principle Component Analysis (PCA), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), and Nonlinear Discernment Analysis (NDA) are performed besides the machine learning models of the Extra Tree Classifier (ETC), Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree (DT), Logistic Regression (LR), k Nearest Neighbor (KNN) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with detailed of configuration settings. ANN and random forest algorithm have achieved approximately maximum accuracy of 97% and 96% on the test dataset. It is recommended that digital policymakers from the agriculture department can use ANN and RF to identify the different genotypes at farmer's fields and research centers. These findings can be used for precision identification and management of the crop specific genotypes for optimized resource use efficiency.

PURPOSE
Myasthenia gravis (MG) can cause respiratory muscle weakness and the need of ventilator support. Spirometry as the gold standard for pulmonary function examination has limited availability, especially in our hospital which is only available in outpatient clinic during work hours (not in emergency room or patient room). Furthermore, all primary healthcare in Indonesia do not have spirometry equipment, thus other alternatives are required. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between a single breath counting test (SBCT), peak flow meter (PFM), and spirometry to assess pulmonary function in MG patients in a national referral hospital in Indonesia.
PATIENTS AND METHODS
A single-center, cross-sectional study was conducted and SBCT, PFM, and spirometry examination were performed in MG patients and healthy controls.
RESULTS
Seventy patients, aged 47.7 ± 13.4 years old, participated in this study. SBCT, forced vital capacity first second (FVC1), and forced expiratory volume first second (FEV1) value between MG patients and healthy controls showed a significant difference, in which healthy controls have higher SBCT, FVC1, and FEV1 values ( = 0.000, = 0.000 and = 0.001 respectively). There was a significant difference between PFM with SBCT and FVC1 value in MG patients. Strong correlation was found between SBCT and FVC1 in MG patients.
CONCLUSION
MG patients had worse pulmonary function compared to healthy controls. SBCT and PFM examination have a significant correlation with FVC1 in MG patients. Therefore, SBCT and PFM can be used as a bedside tool to detect respiratory impairment in MG patients.

INTRO
We aim to investigate the relationship between social cohesion and sedentary behavior (SB), total physical activity (PA), moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA), and dietary quality. Additionally, we assess whether these associations are independent of neighborhood walkability and the food environment.
METHODS
A total of 7641 participants from The Maastricht Study in the Netherlands between the ages of 40 and 75 years were analyzed. Neighborhood social cohesion was obtained by participant questionnaire completed at baseline and measured by the Dutch Livability meter. Home addresses were linked to geographic information system (GIS) data from the Geoscience and Health Cohort Consortium (GECCO) to create neighborhood exposures of walkability and food environment. A thigh worn accelerometer collected data to measure sedentary time, total daily PA, and MVPA. Dietary quality was measured with a food frequency questionnaire. Multivariate linear regression analyses were adjusted for age, sex, socioeconomic position, neighborhood walkability, and food environment.
RESULTS
Those living in the highest quartile area of perceived social cohesion had statistically significant lower levels of SB (Q4 B: -13.04; 95% CI = -20.23, -5.85), higher total PA (Q4 B: 4.39; 95% CI = 1.69, 7.10), and higher MVPA (Q4 B: 2.57; 95% CI = 0.83, 4.31) and better diet quality (Q4 B: 1.12; 95% CI = 0.24, 2.01) compared to the lowest quartile independent of walkability and food environment. Similar results were found using the Livability meter.
CONCLUSION
We discovered neighborhood social cohesion as an important obesogenic determinant that should be considered in policymaking to encourage higher levels of PA and higher diet quality.

INTRODUCTION
A person with diabetes is subject to developing micro and macrovascular complications and prevention requires an active role from the person. So, health literacy should have a preponderant role in the health of people with diabetes but this link is yet not fully understood. The objective of this study is to understand the relationship between health literacy and the prevalence of complications in people with diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2).
METHODS
This is a multicentric transversal observational exploratory study. A survey was conducted with two health literacy instruments, the Medical Term Recognition Test (METER) and Newest Vital Sign (NVS), filled out by people with DM2 coming to consultation in primary health centers in three main regions of Portugal. Results: In this sample (n=141), 50.6% were male, 41 to 88 years old, and 56% earned more than the minimum wage. Using the METER tool, it was found that 57.4% of the diabetic patients had functional literacy. Adequate literacy was found in 24.1% with the NVS tool. Also with the NVS tool it was found that 36.2% of the sample subjects had s high probability of limited literacy. Utilizing the METER tool, a statistically significant decrease in health literacy was observed in individuals with diabetic complications (p=0.001). There was no significant relation between the presence of diabetic complications and present blood pressure values, low-density lipoprotein, and socioeconomic index.
CONCLUSION
In this study, we found a significant relation between lower health literacy and the presence of diagnosed DM2 complications (p=0.001).

During the pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), many jurisdictions around the world introduced a "social distance" rule under which people are instructed to keep a certain distance from others. Generally, this rule is implemented simply by telling people how many metres or feet of separation should be kept, without giving them precise instructions as to how the specified distance can be measured. Consequently, the rule is effective only to the extent that people are able to gauge this distance through their space perception. To examine the effectiveness of the rule from this point of view, this study empirically investigated how much distance people would leave from another person when they relied on their perception of this distance. Participants ( = 153) were asked to stand exactly 1.5 m away from a researcher, and resultant interpersonal distances showed that while their mean was close to the correct 1.5 m distance, they exhibited large individual differences. These results suggest that a number of people would not stay sufficiently away from others even when they intend to do proper social distancing. Given this outcome, it is suggested that official health advice include measures that compensate for this tendency.

Long tunnels are a necessary means of connectivity due to topological conditions across the world. In recent years, various technologies have been developed to support construction of tunnels and reduce the burden on construction workers. In continuation, mountain tunnel construction sites especially pose a major problem for continuous long conveyor belts to remove crushed rocks and rubbles out of tunnels during the process of mucking. Consequently, this process damages conveyor belts quite frequently, and a visual inspection is needed to analyze the damages. Towards this, the paper proposes a model to configure the damage and its size on conveyor belt in real-time. Further, the model also localizes the damage with respect to the length of conveyor belt by detecting the number markings at every 10 meters of the belt. The effectiveness of the proposed framework confirms superior real-time performance with optimized model detecting cracks and number markings with mAP of 0.850 and 0.99 respectively, while capturing 15 frames per second on edge device. The current study marks and validates the versatility of deep learning solutions for mountain tunnel construction sites.

Position determination is a critical technical challenge to be addressed in the unmanned and intelligent advancement of crane systems. Traditional positioning techniques, such as those based on magnetic grating or encoders, are limited to measuring the positions of the main carriage and trolley. However, during crane operations, accurately determining the position of the load becomes problematic when it undergoes swinging motions. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a novel Ultra-Wide-Band (UWB) positioning method for unmanned crane systems, leveraging the Snake Optimizer Long Short-Term Memory (SO-LSTM) framework. The objective is to achieve real-time and precise localization of the crane hook. The proposed method establishes a multi-base station and multi-tag UWB positioning system using a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) combined with Two-Way Ranging (TWR) scheme. This system enables the acquisition of distance measurements between the mobile tag and UWB base stations. Furthermore, the hyperparameters of the LSTM network are optimized using the Snake Optimizer algorithm to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of UWB positioning estimation. Experimental results demonstrate that the SO-LSTM-based positioning method yields a maximum positioning error of 0.1125 meters and a root mean square error of 0.0589 meters. In comparison to conventional approaches such as the least squares method (LS) and the Kalman filter method (KF), the proposed SO-LSTM-based positioning method significantly reduces the root mean square error (RMSE) by 63.39% and 58.01%, respectively, while also decreasing the maximum positioning error (MPE) by 60.77% and 52.65%.

A cross sectional pan-India study about use of administration devices for paediatric oral and inhalation medicines was conducted with a diverse pool of participants of various age groups. Via 634 respondents from more than 15 states in India, this study has identified the administration devices commonly used by parents/caregivers for children 0 to 18 years and by children over 10 years. It has provided insights on device ease of use, challenges faced and recommendations to facilitate the correct use of administration devices for paediatric oral and inhalation medicines. Ethics approval (DPSRU-BREC/2020/A/008)) was obtained from the Biomedical Research Ethics Committee of Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University. The survey was completed by parents only (n = 514) and jointly by both parents and children (n = 120). The mean age of the child was 7.2 ± 4.96 years. 72% of the respondents reported that an oral medicine had been taken recently, 6.3% reported that an inhaled medicine had been taken and the remaining 21.9% reported that both an oral and inhaled medicine had been taken. The use of measuring cup was most prevalent followed by household spoons. The mean of the score for ease of use was found to be highest 4.6 ± 0.50 for oral syringe and lowest (3.8 ± 0.76) for measuring cups. The majority of them found the oral device easy to use. Difficulties were reported mostly for measuring cups and household spoons and were related to a lack of user instructions and measuring difficulties. The respondents who found the device easy to use had mostly received clear instructions from healthcare professionals. Compared to oral devices, there were very limited responses for inhalation devices (n = 175/634). Nebulisers with facemasks were most frequently used followed by manually actuated Metered dose inhalers with and without spacer. The mean of the ease-of-use score for dry powder inhalers was found to be highest (4.2 ± 0.37) followed by mist inhalers (4.0 ± 0) and manually actuated pressurised metered dose inhalers (4.0 ± 0.71). The nebulisers with facemask were reported to be difficult to use by most of the respondents despite receiving clear instructions from healthcare professionals. The study findings add evidence to the understudied area of user experiences and perspectives on administration devices for oral and inhalation medicines in India. It highlights a need for initiatives to improve the usability, availability, and affordability of administration devices for children in India. Awareness on the importance of proper use of devices needs to be raised and sustained about the existence of affordable administration devices.
