Thromboembolic complications after the COVID-19 vaccination have been reported from all over the world. We aimed to identify the thrombotic and thromboembolic complications that can arise after receiving various types of COVID-19 vaccines, their frequency, and distinguishing characteristics. Articles published in Medline/PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE, Google Scholar, EBSCO, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, the CDC database, the WHO database, ClinicalTrials.gov, and servers like medRxiv.org and bioRxiv.org, as well as the websites of several reporting authorities between December 1, 2019, and July 29, 2021, were searched. Studies were included if they reported any thromboembolic complications post-COVID-19 vaccination and excluded editorials, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, narrative reviews, and commentaries. Two reviewers independently extracted the data and conducted the quality assessment. Thromboembolic events and associated hemorrhagic complications after various types of COVID-19 vaccines, their frequency, and distinguishing characteristics were assessed. The protocol was registered at PROSPERO (ID-CRD42021257862). There were 59 articles, enrolling 202 patients. We also studied data from two nationwide registries and surveillance. The mean age of presentation was 47 ± 15.5 (mean ± SD) years, and 71.1% of the reported cases were females. The majority of events were with the AstraZeneca vaccine and with the first dose. Of these, 74.8% were venous thromboembolic events, 12.7% were arterial thromboembolic events, and the rest were hemorrhagic complications. The most common reported event was cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (65.8%), followed by pulmonary embolism, splanchnic vein thrombosis, deep vein thrombosis, and ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. The majority had thrombocytopenia, high D-dimer, and anti-PF4 antibodies. The case fatality rate was 26.5%. In our study, 26/59 of the papers were of fair quality. The data from two nationwide registries and surveillance revealed 6347 venous and arterial thromboembolic events post-COVID-19 vaccinations. COVID-19 vaccinations have been linked to thrombotic and thromboembolic complications. However, the benefits far outweigh the risks. Clinicians should be aware of these complications because they may be fatal and because prompt identification and treatment can prevent fatalities.

OBJECTIVE
This study aimed to provide procedure-specific estimates of the risk for symptomatic venous thromboembolism and major bleeding in noncancer gynecologic surgeries.
DATA SOURCES
We conducted comprehensive searches on Embase, MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Furthermore, we performed separate searches for randomized trials that addressed the effects of thromboprophylaxis.
STUDY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Eligible studies were observational studies that enrolled ≥50 adult patients who underwent noncancer gynecologic surgery procedures and that reported the absolute incidence of at least 1 of the following: symptomatic pulmonary embolism, symptomatic deep vein thrombosis, symptomatic venous thromboembolism, bleeding that required reintervention (including re-exploration and angioembolization), bleeding that led to transfusion, or postoperative hemoglobin level <70 g/L.
METHODS
A teams of 2 reviewers independently assessed eligibility, performed data extraction, and evaluated the risk of bias of the eligible articles. We adjusted the reported estimates for thromboprophylaxis and length of follow-up and used the median value from studies to determine the cumulative incidence at 4 weeks postsurgery stratified by patient venous thromboembolism risk factors and used the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation approach to rate the evidence certainty.
RESULTS
We included 131 studies (1,741,519 patients) that reported venous thromboembolism risk estimates for 50 gynecologic noncancer procedures and bleeding requiring reintervention estimates for 35 procedures. The evidence certainty was generally moderate or low for venous thromboembolism and low or very low for bleeding requiring reintervention. The risk for symptomatic venous thromboembolism varied from a median of <0.1% for several procedures (eg, transvaginal oocyte retrieval) to 1.5% for others (eg, minimally invasive sacrocolpopexy with hysterectomy, 1.2%-4.6% across patient venous thromboembolism risk groups). Venous thromboembolism risk was <0.5% for 30 (60%) of the procedures; 0.5% to 1.0% for 10 (20%) procedures; and >1.0% for 10 (20%) procedures. The risk for bleeding the require reintervention varied from <0.1% (transvaginal oocyte retrieval) to 4.0% (open myomectomy). The bleeding requiring reintervention risk was <0.5% in 17 (49%) procedures, 0.5% to 1.0% for 12 (34%) procedures, and >1.0% in 6 (17%) procedures.
CONCLUSION
The risk for venous thromboembolism in gynecologic noncancer surgery varied between procedures and patients. Venous thromboembolism risks exceeded the bleeding risks only among selected patients and procedures. Although most of the evidence is of low certainty, the results nevertheless provide a compelling rationale for restricting pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis to a minority of patients who undergo gynecologic noncancer procedures.

BACKGROUND
The clinical characteristics of splanchnic vein thrombosis (SVT) in pediatric patients and its optimal treatment strategies are unknown.
OBJECTIVES
This study aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of anticoagulant therapy for pediatric SVT.
METHODS
MEDLINE and EMBASE databases were searched up to December 2021. We included observational and interventional studies that enrolled pediatric patients with SVT and reported anticoagulant treatment and outcomes, including rates of vessel recanalization, SVT extension, venous thromboembolism (VTE) recurrence, major bleeding, and mortality. Pooled proportions of vessel recanalization were calculated with their 95% CI.
RESULTS
A total of 506 pediatric patients (aged 0-18 years) across 17 observational studies were included. The majority of patients had portal vein thrombosis (n = 308, 60.8%) or Budd-Chiari syndrome (n = 175, 34.6%). Most events were triggered by transient provoking factors. Anticoagulation (heparins and vitamin K antagonists) was prescribed in 217 (42.9%) patients, and 148 (29.2%) patients underwent vascular interventions. The overall pooled proportions of vessel recanalization were 55.3% (95% CI, 34.1%-74.7%; I = 74.0%) among anticoagulated patients and 29.4% (95% CI, 2.6%-86.6%; I = 49.0%) among non-anticoagulated patients. SVT extension, major bleeding, VTE recurrence, and mortality rates were 8.9%, 3.8%, 3.5%, and 10.0%, respectively, in anticoagulated patients and 2.8%, 1.4%, 0%, and 50.3%, respectively, in non-anticoagulated patients.
CONCLUSION
In pediatric SVT, anticoagulation appears to be associated with moderate recanalization rates and a low risk of major bleeding. VTE recurrence is low and comparable to that reported in pediatric patients with other types of provoked VTE.

BACKGROUND
Several clinical investigations have compared different pharmacologic agents for the prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism (VTE). However, no consensus has been reached. The present investigation compared enoxaparin, fondaparinux, aspirin and non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) commonly used as prophylaxis following total hip arthroplasty (THA). A Bayesian network meta-analysis was performed, setting as outcomes of interest the rate of deep venous thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE) and major and minor haemorrhages.
METHODS
This study was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) extension statement for reporting systematic reviews incorporating network meta-analyses of healthcare interventions. All randomised controlled trials (RCTs) comparing two or more drugs used for the prophylaxis of VTE following THA were accessed. PubMed, Web of Science and Google Scholar databases were accessed in March 2023 with no time constraint.
RESULTS
Data from 31,705 patients were extracted. Of these, 62% (19,824) were women, with age, sex ratio, and body mass index (BMI) being comparable at baseline. Apixaban 5 mg, fondaparinux, and rivaroxaban 60 mg were the most effective in reducing the rate of DVT. Dabigatran 220 mg, apixaban 5 mg, and aspirin 100 mg were the most effective in reducing the rate of PE. Apixaban 5 mg, ximelagatran 2 mg and aspirin 100 mg were associated with the lowest rate of major haemorrhages, while rivaroxaban 2.5 mg, apixaban 5 mg and enoxaparin 40 mg were associated with the lowest rate of minor haemorrhages.
CONCLUSION
Administration of apixaban 5 mg demonstrated the best balance between VTE prevention and haemorrhage control following THA. Level of evidence Level I, network meta-analysis of RCTs.

INTRODUCTION
Penile Mondor's Disease (PMD) is a rare illness that causes thrombophlebitis in the superficial veins of the penis that is manifested by transient pain and swelling. PMD often is associated with trauma to the penis, prolonged or vigorous sexual intercourse, and has been linked to genetics.
OBJECTIVES
Our aim is to review the current literature on PMD.
METHODS
A comprehensive literature search of English and Turkish publications on PMD was found through PubMed and Web of Science using various keywords. It is a systematic review.
RESULTS
PMD might be an uncommon, harmless condition that normalizes with moderate therapy or potentially clinical therapy. Its pathogenesis has not yet been completely explained; however, different etiological variables are known. The current studies on PMD are summarized.
CONCLUSION
Analyses are frequently made with a fair history and actual assessment. In any case, education on the illness is needed. Furthermore, the identification should be supported by ultrasonography. In a greater part of the patients, results are acquired with 2 months of clinical treatment. In exceptionally uncommon cases, careful thrombectomy or expulsion of the superficial vein is required. BACKGROUND AND AIMS
The role of thrombolytic therapy in patients with portal venous system thrombosis (PVST) remains ambiguous. This study aimed to systematically collect available evidence and evaluate the efficacy and safety of thrombolysis for PVST.
METHODS
Eligible studies were searched via PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases. Among the cohort studies, meta-analyses were performed to assess the outcomes of PVST patients receiving thrombolysis. Pooled proportions were calculated. Among the case reports and case series, logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the risk factors for outcomes of PVST patients receiving thrombolysis. Odds ratios (ORs) were calculated.
RESULTS
Among the 2134 papers initially identified, 29 cohort studies and 131 case reports or case series were included. Based on the cohort studies, the pooled rates of overall response to thrombolytic therapy, complete recanalization of PVST, bleeding events during thrombolysis, further bowel resection, thrombosis recurrence, and 30-day mortality were 93%, 58%, 18%, 3%, 1%, and 4%, respectively. Based on the case reports and case series, acute pancreatitis (OR = 0.084), history of liver transplantation (OR = 13.346), and interval between onset of symptoms and initiation of thrombolysis ≤14 days (OR = 3.105) were significantly associated with complete recanalization of PVST; acute pancreatitis (OR = 6.556) was significantly associated with further bowel resection; but no factors associated with the overall response to thrombolytic therapy, bleeding events during thrombolysis, thrombosis recurrence, and 30-day mortality were identified or could be calculated.
CONCLUSION
Early initiation of thrombolysis should be effective for the treatment of PVST. But its benefits for PVST secondary to acute pancreatitis are weakened.

BACKGROUND
Venous thrombosis, comprising DVT and PE, is an orthopedic condition that may be fatal after surgery. This study's purpose was to analyze risk factors for venous thrombosis following spine surgery to help guide treatment prophylaxis.
METHODS
A computer searched English databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Google Academic for relevant publications after spinal surgery. Preoperative walking difficulties, hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, preoperative bleeding volume, etc., were all examined using the NOS scale. Data were analyzed using Review Manager 5.3 software. An analysis was done. Due to the study's differences, the data was compiled using fixed effects or random effects models.
RESULTS
A total of 25 studies were considered, with a total of 1,927,781 individuals after spine surgery, including 7843 patients with venous thrombosis. The included literatures had NOS scores ranging from 5 to 8. According to the findings of the meta-analysis, the age of patients with venous thrombosis after spinal surgery (OR = 7.53, 95% CI (6.73, 8.33)), blood loss (OR = -141.79, 95% CI (-154.68, -128.9), = 0.00001), and operation time (OR = 76.93, 95% CI (73.17, 80.86), = 0.00001) were higher than those without; diabetes mellitus (OR =1.23, 95% CI (1.12, 1.34), = 0.00001) and walking disability history (OR = 2.97, 95% CL (1.77, 4.98), = 0.0001) increased the incidence of postoperative venous thrombosis.
CONCLUSION
High age, female, spinal fusion, big volume blood loss patients, operation time, and hypertension, diabetes, and walking issue are all risk factors for venous thrombosis following surgery.

A Systematic Review and Bayesian Network Meta-Analysis on the Effect of Different Anticoagulants on the Prophylaxis of Post-Thrombotic Syndrome after Deep Venous Thrombosis.
BACKGROUND
Postthrombotic syndrome (PTS) has a major impact on the quality of life after deep venous thrombosis (DVT). From clinical practice and related trials, anticoagulants show potential for reducing the occurrence and alleviating the symptoms of PTS.
METHODS
A systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA) were conducted by combing the literature from the databases of MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Libraries, and ClinicalTrials, through a variety of medical subject headings (Mesh) and PTS keywords. With regard to PTS prophylaxis, all anticoagulant-related randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies were assessed. The network model was conducted through the R software, and further comparisons were conducted using the Bayesian hierarchical random effects model. The odds ratio (OR) and the corresponding 95% CI were calculated for analysis.
RESULTS
Data from two RCTs and nine non-randomized studies meeting the selection criteria were included in the Bayesian analysis model, which incorporated seven anticoagulants. Edoxaban (OR: 0.42, 95% CI: 0.18-1.0) and rivaroxaban (OR: 0.54, 95% CI: 0.38-0.76) were significantly more effective than warfarin in the prevention of PTS (Villalta score ≥ 5). A subgroup analysis based on the severity of PTS showed that rivaroxaban was more effective than warfarin, with OR: 0.59, 95% CI: 0.41-0.84 (Villalta score 5 to 14) and OR: 0.48, 95% CI: 0.22-0.9 (Villalta score ≥ 15, ulceration), respectively. Edoxaban had the highest probability (80.1%) of providing preventive benefits for PTS. For mild/moderate and severe PTS, rivaroxaban provided the highest benefits in preventing PTS (89.3% and 85.6%, respectively).
CONCLUSION
Edoxaban demonstrated a better prophylactic effect on PTS (Villalta score > 5), while rivaroxaban displayed a better effect against mild/moderate (Villalta score 5 to 14) and severe PTS (Villalta score ≥ 15, ulceration).

BACKGROUND
Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) has recently been reported as a common thrombotic manifestation in association with vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia, a syndrome that mimics heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) and occurs after vaccination with adenovirus-based SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. We aimed to systematically review the incidence, clinical features, and prognosis of CVT occurring in patients with HIT.
METHODS
The study protocol was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42021249652). MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane CENTRAL were searched up to June 1, 2021 for HIT case series including >20 patients, or any report of HIT-related CVT. Demographic, neuroradiological, clinical, and mortality data were retrieved. Meta-analysis of proportions with random-effect modeling was used to derive rate of CVT in HIT and in-hospital mortality. Pooled estimates were compared with those for CVT without HIT and HIT without CVT, to determine differences in mortality.
RESULTS
From 19073 results, we selected 23 case series of HIT (n=1220) and 27 cases of HIT-related CVT (n=27, 71% female). CVT developed in 1.6% of 1220 patients with HIT (95% CI,1.0%-2.5%, =0%). Hemorrhagic brain lesions occurred in 81.8% of cases of HIT-related CVT and other concomitant thrombosis affecting other vascular territory was reported in 47.8% of cases. In-hospital mortality was 33.3%. HIT-related CVT carried a 29% absolute increase in mortality rate compared with historical CVT controls (33.3% versus 4.3%, <0.001) and a 17.4% excess mortality compared with HIT without CVT (33.3% versus 15.9%, =0.046).
CONCLUSIONS
CVT is a rare thrombotic manifestation in patients with HIT. HIT-related CVT has higher rates of intracerebral hemorrhage and a higher mortality risk, when compared with CVT in historical controls. The recently reported high frequency of CVT in patients with vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia was not observed in HIT, suggesting that additional pathophysiological mechanisms besides anti-platelet factor-4 antibodies might be involved in vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia-related CVT.

OBJECTIVE
Management of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) involves minimizing expansion of the thrombus and promoting the recanalization of the venous sinus. While current guidelines include indications of endovascular management and anticoagulation with heparin and warfarin, the use of direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs) has increased. In this study, we aim to conduct a network meta-analysis comparing these 3 therapeutic options: standard anticoagulation, DOACs, and endovascular treatments (EVTs).
METHODS
Seventeen of 2265 studies identified from 4 publication databases met inclusion criteria for this network meta-analysis. Outcomes analyzed included modified Rankin Scale score, complications, mortality, and 6-month recanalization rates using a frequentist network meta-analysis approach. For each outcome, the preferential order of each intervention was ranked hierarchically based on P-score calculations used for frequentist network meta-analyses.
RESULTS
Modified Rankin Scale outcomes were not significantly different based on the type of treatment modality (i.e., standard anticoagulation, DOACs, or EVT). Evaluation of complications demonstrated that patients treated with EVT were significantly more likely to experience a worse outcome than individuals treated with standard anticoagulation (odds ratio [OR] = 1.83, P = 0.04). Other comparisons did not demonstrate a significant difference in adverse events. For all-cause mortality outcomes, EVT demonstrated significantly greater odds of mortality than standard anticoagulation (OR = 1.89, P = 0.02). Mortality between DOACs and standard anticoagulation was not significantly different. When comparing 6-month recanalization rates, DOACs and EVT were significantly more effective than standard anticoagulation (OR = 1.93, OR = 2.2, P < 0.05). EVT followed by DOACs was preferred over standard anticoagulation for 6-month recanalization rates.
CONCLUSIONS
This network meta-analysis evaluates the outcomes in CVT treatment, comparing standard anticoagulation, DOACs, and EVT, with evidence that DOACs have similar outcomes to standard anticoagulation in the treatment of CVT. EVT resulted in an increased risk of overall mortality but improved 6-month recanalization rates.
