OBJECTIVE
To perform a systematic review (SR) of existing literature and a patent landscape report (PLR) regarding the potential applications of shape-memory polymers (SMPs) in dentistry.
SEARCH STRATEGY
Clinical and Biomedical online databases (Pubmed, Medline via Embase, Scopus, LILACS, Web of Science, Cochrane Library), Materials Science and Engineering databases (IEEE Explore, Compendex, Proquest), Material Science and Chemical database (Reaxys) so as Patents databases (Questel-Orbit, Espacenet, Patentscope) were consulted as recently as January 2019 to identify all papers and patents potentially relevant to the review. The reference lists of all eligible studies were hand searched for additional published work.
RESULTS
After duplicate selection and extraction procedures, 6 relevant full-text articles from the initial 302 and 45 relevant patents from 497 were selected. A modified Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) checklist of 14 items for reporting pre-clinical in-vitro studies was used to rate the methodological quality of the selected papers. The overall quality was judged low.
CONCLUSIONS
Despite the great potential and versatility of SMPs, it was not possible to draw evidence-based conclusions supporting their immediate employment in clinical dentistry. This was due to the weak design and a limited number of studies included within this review and reflects the fact that additional research is mandatory to determine whether or not the use of SMPs in dentistry could be effective. Nevertheless, the qualitative analysis of selected papers and patents indicate that SMPs are promising materials in dentistry because of their programmable physical properties. These findings suggest the importance of furtherly pursuing this line of research.

OBJECTIVE
Map specific skills of the Wound Navigator.
METHODS
A scoping review of complete and free articles in the databases CINAHL®, Nursing & Allied Health Collection, Cochrane Plus Collection, MedicLatina, MEDLINE® and 12 specialist associations in tissue viability, references in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, with no time limit. Realized by two researchers in August 2017, of the 746 articles found, 19 met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
RESULTS
Four competency domains were identified: care (prevention/treatment of wounds and advanced therapies, decision-making; empowerment and clinical supervision), quality (specialized training; peer qualification; research and audit), and leadership (change agent; teamwork and consultant) and management (material selection/cost control).
CONCLUSIONS
With four areas of competences, the Wound Navigator in partnership focuses on redefining people's life plans in the presence of wounds.

Regenerative medicine is a discipline that studies how to use biological and engineering principles and operation methods to repair and regenerate damaged tissues and organs. Until now, regenerative medicine has focused mainly on the in-depth study of the pathological mechanism of diseases, the further development and application of new drugs, and tissue engineering technology strategies. The emergence of aptamers has supplemented the development methods and types of new drugs and enriched the application elements of tissue engineering technology, injecting new vitality into regenerative medicine. The role and application status of aptamers screened in recent years in various tissue regeneration and repair are reviewed, and the prospects and challenges of aptamer technology are discussed, providing a basis for the design and application of aptamers in long-term transformation.

INTRODUCTION
There is no widely accepted standard for the classification and treatment of traumatic acromion/scapular spine fracture nonunion due to the scarcity of this condition and the confusion of terminology.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
PubMed and Scopus were searched using "scapular fracture" and "acromion fracture" or "scapular spine fracture" as search terms. The inclusion criteria were English full-text articles concerning acromion/scapular spine fracture nonunion that described patient characteristics and presented appropriate images. The exclusion criteria were cases without appropriate images. Citation tracking was conducted to find additional articles and notable full-text articles written in other languages. Fractures were classified using our newly proposed classification system.
RESULTS
Twenty-nine patients (19 men, 10 women) with 29 nonunions were identified. There were four type I, 15 type II, and 10 type III fracture nonunions. Only 11 fractures were isolated. The mean period from initial injury to final diagnosis was 35.2 ± 73.2 months (range 3-360 months) (n = 25). The most frequent cause of delayed diagnosis was conservative treatment for fracture in 11 patients, followed by oversight by the physician in 8. The most common reason for seeking medical advice was shoulder pain. Six patients received conservative therapy, and 23 received operative treatment. Fixation materials included various plates in 15 patients, and tension band wiring in 5. Bone grafting was performed in 16 patients (73%, 16/22). Of the 19 surgically treated patients with adequate follow-up, the outcome was rated excellent in 79%.
CONCLUSIONS
Isolated acromion/scapular spine fracture nonunion is rare. Fracture type II and III, arising in the anatomical scapular spine, accounted for 86% of the fractures. Computed tomography is required to prevent fracture oversight. Surgical therapy produces good stable results. However, it is important to select the appropriate surgical fixation method and material after considering the anatomical characteristics of the fracture and stress on the fractured portion.

OBJECTIVE
This review focuses on the in vitro degradation of eggshell-based hydroxyapatite for analyzing the weight loss of hydroxyapatite when applied in the human body. Cytotoxicity tests were used to observe cell growth and morphological effects. A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to observe the weight loss and viable cells of hydroxyapatite when used for implants.
METHOD
Based on the Population, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome (PICO) strategy, the articles used for literature review were published in English on SCOPUS, PubMed, and Google Scholar from 1 January 2012 to 22 May 2021. Data regarding existing experiments in the literature articles the in vitro degradation and cytotoxicity testing of eggshell-based hydroxyapatite determined the biocompatibility of the materials. A meta-analysis was conducted to calculate the mean difference between the solutions and soaking times used for degradation and the stem cells used for cytotoxicity.
RESULTS
From 231 relevant studies, 71 were chosen for full-text analysis, out of which 33 articles met the inclusion criteria for degradation and cytotoxicity analysis. A manual search of the field of study resulted in three additional articles. Thus, 36 articles were included in this systematic review.
SIGNIFICANCE
The aim of this study was to highlight the importance of the biocompatibility of eggshell-based hydroxyapatite. The weight loss and viability cells of eggshell-based hydroxyapatite showed optimum results for viable cells requirements above 70%, and there is a weight loss of eggshell-based hydroxyapatite for a material implant. The meta-analysis indicated significant differences in the weight loss of eggshell-based hydroxyapatite materials with different soaking times and solutions used. The various kinds of stem cells for incubation of cultured cells in contact with a device, either directly or through diffusions with various kinds of stem cells from animals and humans, yielded viability cells above 70%.

There are various pathologies that involve the hallux, among which hallux valgus is the most common. When conservative treatment fails, it is necessary to resort to a surgical approach. The fixation elements for osteotomies in the hallux are usually composed of metallic materials; however, today, there are numerous resorbable materials that offer numerous advantages over conventional materials. In this article, the objective is to analyze the scientific evidence through the systematic analysis of the existing literature in relation to the effectiveness of resorbable versus non-resorbable osteosynthesis material in the surgical correction of hallux deformities and compare the complications as well as the patient satisfaction and quality of life between both fixation methods. A systematic review of the literature available in the PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and Scopus databases and 10 studies were included. The documents were chosen following the eligibility and exclusion criteria, including experimental and observational studies evaluated with the Jadad and Newcastle-Ottawa methodological quality scale, respectively. Data were extracted from valid studies for the review, and the variables functionality, pain, angular corrections, complications, satisfaction and quality of life were observed. In conclusion, there is limited scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness of resorbable versus non-resorbable osteosynthesis material in the surgical correction of hallux deformities. All observed variables are similar regardless of the surgical technique and osteosynthesis material used.

BACKGROUND
This systematic review investigated the effectiveness, efficiency and apical extrusion of the debris of two rotary and two reciprocating single-file systems used for the removal of filling material from straight root canals.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
A literature search was performed in the Medline, ISI Web of Science, and Scopus databases for relevant articles matching the keyword search strategy. Effectiveness was determined with studies dealing with the ability of the instruments to remove filling material from root canals. Efficiency was assessed with studies dealing with the time needed to completely remove the root canal filling, and apical extrusion was determined with studies that measured the amount of filling material extruded through the apex.
RESULTS
From the 424 articles initially found, 406 were excluded for being non-relevant or not fulfilling the selection criteria. Another 9 articles were excluded after methodology evaluation. Finally, 9 studies were included in the systematic review.
CONCLUSIONS
None of the reviewed systems is effective to completely remove the filling materials from straight root canals, and all systems appear to be equally time-efficient, although this variable shows different results. In terms of apical extrusion, the analyzed reciprocating systems extrude more material toward the periapical tissues than the continuous rotation systems. The majority of patients strongly favor the use of aligners in the present time, especially with the advancement in esthetic dentistry. Today's market is flooded with aligner companies, many of which share the same therapeutic ethos. We therefore carried out a systematic review and network meta-analysis to evaluate research that had looked at various aligner materials and attachments and their effect on orthodontic tooth movement in relevant studies. A total of 634 papers were discovered after a thorough search of online journals using keywords such as "Aligners", "Orthodontics", "Orthodontic attachments", "Orthodontic tooth movement", and "Polyethylene" across databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane. The authors individually and in parallel carried out the database investigation, removal of duplicate studies, data extraction, and bias risk. The statistical analysis demonstrated that the type of aligner material had a significant impact on orthodontic tooth movement. The low level of heterogeneity and significant overall effect further support this finding. However, there was little effect of attachment size or shape on tooth mobility. The examined materials were primarily concerned with influencing the physical/physicochemical characteristics of the appliances and not tooth movement directly. Invisalign (Inv) had a higher mean value than the other types of materials that were analyzed, which suggested a potentially greater impact on orthodontic tooth movement. However, its variance value indicated that there was also greater uncertainty associated with the estimate compared to some of the other plastics. These findings could have important implications for orthodontic treatment planning and aligner material selection. BACKGROUND
Knowledge of the cytotoxicity and bioactivity of endodontic materials may assist in understanding their ability to promote dental pulp stem cell activity and pulp healing in primary teeth.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
This systematic review was carried out by searching the electronic databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Cochrane reviews for the articles published between January 2000 and December 2018 using the appropriate MeSH keywords. An independent investigator evaluated the abstracts and titles for possible inclusion, as per the stipulated inclusion and exclusion criteria. The topics considered for extracting data from each study were: cell lineage, cytotoxicity assay used, and type of material tested.
RESULTS
Seven eligible studies were selected for assessing the quality of evidence on the bioactivity of bioactive endodontic cements (BECs) (1 human cell line, 2 animal cell lines, and 4 , animal, and human studies) and 13 studies were selected for reviewing the quality of evidence on cytotoxicity (7 human cell lines, 4 animal cell lines, and 2 animal model studies). Very limited studies had been conducted on the bioactivity of materials other than mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). With regards to cytotoxicity, the studies were diverse and most of the studies were based on MTT assay. Mineral trioxide aggregate is the most frequently used as well as studied root-end filling cement, and the literature evidence corroborated its reduced cytotoxicity and enhanced bioavailability.
CONCLUSION
There was a lack of sufficient evidence to arrive at a consensus on the ideal material with minimal cytotoxicity and optimal bioactivity. More focused human/cell line-based studies are needed on the available root filling materials.
CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE
The present systematic review provides an update on the available literature evidence on the cytotoxicity and bioactivity of various BECs including MTAs and their influence on the different cells with respect to their composition and strength.

BACKGROUND
Real-time quaking-induced conversion (RT-QuIC) and protein misfolding cyclic amplification (PMCA) have been developed to detect minute amounts of amyloidogenic proteins via amplification techniques and have been used to detect misfolded α-synuclein (αSyn) aggregates in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and other source materials of patients with Parkinson's Disease and other synucleinopathies.
OBJECTIVES
The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of αSyn seed amplification assays (αSyn-SAAs), including RT-QuIC and PMCA, using CSF as source material to differentiate synucleinopathies from controls.
METHODS
The electronic MEDLINE database PubMed was searched for relevant articles published until June 30, 2022. Study quality assessment was performed using the QUADAS-2 toolbox. A random effects bivariate model was exploited for data synthesis.
RESULTS
Our systematic review identified 27 eligible studies according to the predefined inclusion criteria, of which 22 were included in the final analysis. Overall, 1855 patients with synucleinopathies and 1378 non-synucleinopathies as control subjects were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled sensitivity and specificity to differentiate synucleinopathies from controls with αSyn-SAA were 0.88 (95% CI, 0.82-0.93) and 0.95 (95% CI, 0.92-0.97), respectively. Evaluating the diagnostic performance of RT-QuIC in a subgroup analysis for the detection of patients with multiple system atrophy the pooled sensitivity decreased to 0.30 (95% CI, 0.11-0.59).
CONCLUSIONS
While our study clearly demonstrated a high diagnostic performance of RT-QuIC and PMCA for differentiating synucleinopathies with Lewy bodies from controls, results for the diagnosis of multiple system atrophy were less robust.
