Micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) are used to record training and match play of intermittent team sport athletes. Paired with estimates of internal responses or adaptations to exercise, practitioners gain insight into players' dose-response relationship which facilitates the prescription of the training stimuli to optimize performance, prevent injuries, and to guide rehabilitation processes. A systematic review on the relationship between external, wearable-based, and internal parameters in team sport athletes, compliant with the PRISMA guidelines, was conducted. The literature research was performed from earliest record to 1 September 2020 using the databases PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL, and SportDISCUS. A total of 66 full-text articles were reviewed encompassing 1541 athletes. About 109 different relationships between variables have been reviewed. The most investigated relationship across sports was found between (session) rating of perceived exertion ((session-)RPE) and PlayerLoad™ (PL) with, predominantly, moderate to strong associations (r = 0.49-0.84). Relationships between internal parameters and highly dynamic, anaerobic movements were heterogenous. Relationships between average heart rate (HR), Edward's and Banister's training impulse (TRIMP) seem to be reflected in parameters of overall activity such as PL and TD for running-intensive team sports. PL may further be suitable to estimate the overall subjective perception. To identify high fine-structured loading-relative to a certain type of sport-more specific measures and devices are needed. Individualization of parameters could be helpful to enhance practicality.

PURPOSE
If an individual has been blind since birth due to a treatable eye condition, ocular treatment is urgent. Even a brief period of visual deprivation can alter the development of the visual system. The goal of our structured scoping review was to understand how we might better support children with delayed access to ocular treatment for blinding conditions.
METHOD
We searched MEDLINE, Embase and Global Health for peer-reviewed publications that described the impact of early (within the first year) and extended (lasting at least 2 years) bilateral visual deprivation.
RESULTS
Of 551 reports independently screened by two authors, 42 studies met our inclusion criteria. Synthesizing extracted data revealed several trends. The data suggests persistent deficits in visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, global motion, and visual-motor integration, and suspected concerns for understanding complex objects and faces. There is evidence for resilience in color perception, understanding of simple shapes, discriminating between a face and non-face, and the perception of biological motion. There is currently insufficient data about specific (re)habilitation strategies to update low vision services, but there are several insights to guide future research in this domain.
CONCLUSION
This summary will help guide the research and services provision to help children learn to see after early and extended blindness.

OBJECTIVES
After total hip arthroplasty (THA), over 30% of individuals report activity limitations and participation restrictions. This systematic review aimed to determine the association between contextual factors and outcomes in the activity and participation domain after THA for hip osteoarthritis (OA).
METHODS
This systematic review was developed according to the PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews. PubMed, Web of Science, Embase and Scopus were searched until August 2022. Risk of bias was assessed with the Quality in Prognosis Studies tool (QUIPS).
RESULTS
Twenty-nine articles were included. Eighteen had a high risk of bias, 3 had a low risk of bias, and 8 had a moderate risk of bias. Anxiety was only investigated in studies with high risk of bias but showed a consistent negative association with activities and participation after THA across multiple studies. Evidence was inconsistent regarding the associations between depression, trait anxiety, sense of coherence, big 5 personality traits, educational level, marital status, employment status, job position, expectations and social support, and the activity and participation domain. Optimism, general self-efficacy, cognitive appraisal processes, illness perception, ethnicity, and positive life events were associated with activities and participation but were only investigated in 1 study. No associations were identified across multiple studies for living or smoking status. Control beliefs, kinesiophobia, race, discharge location, level of poverty in neighbourhood, negative life events and occupational factors, were not associated with the activity and participation domain but were only investigated in 1 study.
CONCLUSION
Methodological quality of the included studies was low. Anxiety was the only factor consistently associated with worse outcomes in the activity and participation domain after THA but was only investigated in studies with high risk of bias. Further research is needed to confirm relationships between other contextual factors and activities and participation after THA.

BACKGROUND
Neuromotor rehabilitation and improvement of upper limb functions are necessary to improve the life quality of patients who have experienced injuries or have pathological outcomes. Modern approaches, such as robotic-assisted rehabilitation can help to improve rehabilitation processes and thus improve upper limb functions. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the role of robots in upper limb disability improvement and rehabilitation.
METHODS
This scoping review was conducted by search in PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and IEEE (January 2012- February 2022). Articles related to upper limb rehabilitation robots were selected. The methodological quality of all the included studies will be appraised using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). We used an 18-field data extraction form to extract data from articles and extracted the information such as study year, country, type of study, purpose, illness or accident leading to disability, level of disability, assistive technologies, number of participants in the study, sex, age, rehabilitated part of the upper limb using a robot, duration and frequency of treatment, methods of performing rehabilitation exercises, type of evaluation, number of participants in the evaluation process, duration of intervention, study outcomes, and study conclusions. The selection of articles and data extraction was made by three authors based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Disagreements were resolved through consultation with the fifth author. Inclusion criteria were articles involving upper limb rehabilitation robots, articles about upper limb disability caused by any illness or injury, and articles published in English. Also, articles involving other than upper limb rehabilitation robots, robots related to rehabilitation of diseases other than upper limb, systematic reviews, reviews, and meta-analyses, books, book chapters, letters to the editor, and conference papers were also excluded. Descriptive statistics methods (frequency and percentage) were used to analyses the data.
RESULTS
We finally included 55 relevant articles. Most of the studies were done in Italy (33.82%). Most robots were used to rehabilitate stroke patients (80%). About 60.52% of the studies used games and virtual reality rehabilitate the upper limb disabilities using robots. Among the 14 types of applied evaluation methods, "evaluation and measurement of upper limb function and dexterity" was the most applied evaluation method. "Improvement in musculoskeletal functions", "no adverse effect on patients", and "Safe and reliable treatment" were the most cited outcomes, respectively.
CONCLUSIONS
Our findings show that robots can improve musculoskeletal functions (musculoskeletal strength, sensation, perception, vibration, muscle coordination, less spasticity, flexibility, and range of motion) and empower people by providing a variety of rehabilitation capabilities.

Direction of another person's eye gaze provides crucial information about their attention and intentions, which is essential for an effective social interaction. Event-related potential (ERP) measures offer precise temporal tracking of neural processes related to gaze perception. While the sensitivity of the ERP component N170 to face processing is principally agreed, the research on gaze direction effect on this component is thus far inconsistent. Here, we systematically reviewed literature on the sensitivity of N170 to gaze direction. We analysed if four factors, known to affect the face N170 (i.e., emotion, face orientation, task demand, and stimuli motion), were modulated by gaze direction. N170 sensitivity to gaze was reported the most in the studies that involved deviated faces, dynamic stimuli, and that used explicit tasks directly related to gaze or face processing. The present review provides a much-needed summary of the literature to date, highlighting the complexity of the effect of gaze direction on the N170 component, and the need of systematic studies investigating the combination of these factors.

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a very common surgical treatment approach for severe osteoarthritis. Complications of TKA include loss of range of motion and prolonged analgesic requirement for pain control. Osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT) have been utilized to address localized muscular stiffness to improve range of motion; however, limited studies directly correlate OMT and TKA recovery. This review highlights the therapeutic benefits OMT can have in the postoperative management of arthroplasty with respect to range of motion, edema, pain perception, and ability to perform activities of daily living. This review revealed the use of OMT would positively influence range of motion by manipulation of localized musculature and can result in decreased demand for analgesics. This can, in turn, shorten hospital stay and return the ability of patients to perform activities of daily living earlier than without OMT. Increased research is needed to strengthen these findings on the benefits of OMT in the postoperative management of arthroplasty.

OBJECTIVE
Multiple studies have explored the use of visual cortex non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) to enhance visual function. These studies vary in sample size, outcome measures, and methodology. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analyses to assess the effects of NIBS on visual functions in human participants with normal vision.
METHODS
We followed the PRISMA guidelines, and a review protocol was registered with PROSPERO before study commencement (CRD42021255882). We searched Embase, Medline, PsychInfo, PubMed, OpenGrey and Web of Science using relevant keywords. The search covered the period from 1st January 2000 until 1st September 2021. Comprehensive meta-analysis (CMA) software was used for quantitative analysis.
RESULTS
Fifty studies were included in the systematic review. Only five studies utilized transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and no TMS studies met our pre-specified criteria for meta-analysis. Nineteen transcranial electrical stimulation studies (tES, 38%) met the criteria for meta-analysis and were the focus of our review. Meta-analysis indicated acute effects (Hedges's g = 0.232, 95% CI: 0.023-0.442, = 0.029) and aftereffects (0.590, 95% CI: 0.182-0.998, = 0.005) of tES on contrast sensitivity. Visual evoked potential (VEP) amplitudes were significantly enhanced immediately after tES (0.383, 95% CI: 0.110-0.665, = 0.006). Both tES (0.563, 95% CI: 0.230-0.896, = 0.001) and anodal-transcranial direct current stimulation (a-tDCS) alone (0.655, 95% CI: 0.273-1.038, = 0.001) reduced crowding in peripheral vision. The effects of tES on visual acuity, motion perception and reaction time were not statistically significant.
CONCLUSION
There are significant effects of visual cortex tES on contrast sensitivity, VEP amplitude, an index of cortical excitability, and crowding among normally sighted individuals. Additional studies are required to enable a comparable meta-analysis of TMS effects. Future studies with robust experimental designs are needed to extend these findings to populations with vision loss.

PURPOSE
A systematic review of the literature has been carried out to assess the actual evidence of the use of augmented reality in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). We then conducted a pilot clinical study to examine the accuracy of the Knee + augmented reality navigation in performing TKA. The present augmented reality (AR) system allows the surgeon to view the tibial and femur axis superimposed on the surgical field through the smart glasses. It provides real-time information during surgery and intraoperative feedback.
METHODS
A systematic review of the PubMed, MEDLINE, and Embase databases up to May 2021 using the keywords "augmented reality", "knee arthroplasty", "computer assisted surgery", "navigation knee arthroplasty" was performed by two independent reviewers. We performed five TKAs using the Knee + system. Patients were 4 females, with mean age of 76.4 years old (range 73-79) and mean Body Max Index (BMI) of 31.9 kg/m (range 27-35). The axial alignment of the limb and the orientation of the components were evaluated on standardized pre and postoperative full leg length weight-bearing radiographs, anteroposterior radiographs, and lateral radiographs of the knee. The time of tourniquet was recorded. The perception of motion sickness was assessed by Virtual Reality Sickness Questionnaire (VRSQ) subjected to surgeon immediately after surgery.
RESULTS
After duplicate removal, a total of 31 abstracts were found. However, only two studies concerned knee arthroplasty. Unfortunately, both were preclinical studies. Knee + system is able to perform a cutting error of less than 1° of difference about coronal alignment of femur and tibia and less than 2° about flexion/extension of femur and posterior tibial slope. The absolute differences between the values obtained during surgery and the measurement of varus femur, varus tibia, posterior slope, and femur flexion angle on post-operative radiographs were 0.6° ± 1.34°, 0.8° ± 0.84°, 0.8° ± 1.79°, and 0.4 mm ± 0.55 mm, respectively.
CONCLUSIONS
On light of our preliminary results, the Knee + system is accurate and effective to perform TKA. The translation from pilot study to high-level prospective studies is warranted to assess accuracy and cost-effective analysis compared to conventional techniques.

BACKGROUND
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers diagnosed worldwide and the second leading cause of death among women. Virtual reality (VR) has many opportunities and challenges for breast cancer patients' rehabilitation and symptom management. The purpose of this systematic review is to look into the benefits and drawbacks of VR interventions for breast cancer patients.
METHODS
A systematic search was conducted on PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, IEEE, and the Cochrane Library, from inception until February 6, 2022. The inclusion criteria were: (1) original studies without restriction in study design; (2) a study population consisting of patients with breast cancer; (3) any type of VR-based interventions (immersive and non-immersive); and (5) studies published in English. To assess the risk of bias, the Effective Public Health Practice Project (EPHPP) Tool was used.
RESULTS
Eighteen articles were included in this systematic review. The result showed that VR could provide many opportunities for patients with breast cancer, including reducing anxiety, time perception, pain, fatigue, chemotherapy-related symptom distress levels, and depression severity, as well as improvement in the range of motion, strength, and function. Cybersickness symptoms, the weight of headsets and helmets, the quality of the visual image, and the cost of the equipment are some of the challenges in using this technology on these patients.
CONCLUSIONS
The systematic review showed that VR interventions have opportunities and challenges for patients with breast cancer. VR can be effective for rehabilitation and symptom management and is used in different stages of treatment to improve the condition of patients with breast cancer. However, before using it, the researcher should consider its challenges.

The global aging population faces significant health challenges, including an increasing vulnerability to disability due to natural aging processes. Wearable lower limb exoskeletons (LLEs) have emerged as a promising solution to enhance physical function in older individuals. This systematic review synthesizes the use of LLEs in alignment with the WHO's healthy aging vision, examining their impact on intrinsic capacities and functional abilities. We conducted a comprehensive literature search in six databases, yielding 36 relevant articles covering older adults (65+) with various health conditions, including sarcopenia, stroke, Parkinson's Disease, osteoarthritis, and more. The interventions, spanning one to forty sessions, utilized a range of LLE technologies such as Ekso, HAL, Stride Management Assist, Honda Walking Assist, Lokomat, Walkbot, Healbot, Keeogo Rehab, EX1, overground wearable exoskeletons, Eksoband, powered ankle-foot orthoses, HAL lumbar type, Human Body Posturizer, Gait Enhancing and Motivation System, soft robotic suits, and active pelvis orthoses. The findings revealed substantial positive outcomes across diverse health conditions. LLE training led to improvements in key performance indicators, such as the 10 Meter Walk Test, Five Times Sit-to-Stand test, Timed Up and Go test, and more. Additionally, enhancements were observed in gait quality, joint mobility, muscle strength, and balance. These improvements were accompanied by reductions in sedentary behavior, pain perception, muscle exertion, and metabolic cost while walking. While longer intervention durations can aid in the rehabilitation of intrinsic capacities, even the instantaneous augmentation of functional abilities can be observed in a single session. In summary, this review demonstrates consistent and significant enhancements in critical parameters across a broad spectrum of health conditions following LLE interventions in older adults. These findings underscore the potential of LLE in promoting healthy aging and enhancing the well-being of older adults.
