HIV-1 can incite activation of chemokine receptors, inflammatory mediators, and glutamate receptor-mediated excitotoxicity. The mechanisms associated with such immune activation can disrupt neuronal and glial functions. HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND) is being observed since the beginning of the AIDS epidemic due to a change in the functional integrity of cells from the central nervous system (CNS). Even with the presence of antiretroviral therapy, there is a decline in the functioning of the brain especially movement skills, noticeable swings in mood, and routine performance activities. Under the umbrella of HAND, various symptomatic and asymptomatic conditions are categorized and are on a rise despite the use of newer antiretroviral agents. Due to the use of long-lasting antiretroviral agents, this deadly disease is becoming a manageable chronic condition with the occurrence of asymptomatic neurocognitive impairment (ANI), symptomatic mild neurocognitive disorder, or HIV-associated dementia. In-depth research in the pathogenesis of HIV has focused on various mechanisms involved in neuronal dysfunction and associated toxicities ultimately showcasing the involvement of various pathways. Increasing evidence-based studies have emphasized a need to focus and explore the specific pathways in inflammation-associated neurodegenerative disorders. In the current review, we have highlighted the association of various HIV proteins and neuronal cells with their involvement in various pathways responsible for the development of neurotoxicity.

Future data-intensive applications will have integrated circuit architectures combining energy-efficient transistors, high-density data storage and electro-optic sensing arrays in a single chip to perform in situ processing of captured data. The costly dense wire connections in 3D integrated circuits and in conventional packaging and chip-stacking solutions could affect data communication bandwidths, data storage densities, and optical transmission efficiency. Here we investigated all-ferroelectric nonvolatile LiNbO transistors to function through redirection of conducting domain walls between the drain, gate and source electrodes. The transistor operates as a single-pole, double-throw digital switch with complementary on/off source and gate currents controlled using either the gate or source voltages. The conceived device exhibits high wall current density and abrupt off-and-on state switching without subthreshold swing, enabling nonvolatile memory-and-sensor-in-logic and logic-in-memory-and-sensor capabilities with superior energy efficiency, ultrafast operation/communication speeds, and high logic/storage densities.

Pulse pressure variation (PPV) is a mandatory index for hemodynamic monitoring during mechanical ventilation. The changes in pleural pressure (P) and transpulmonary pressure (P) caused by mechanical ventilation are the basis for PPV and lead to the effect of blood flow. If the state of hypovolemia exists, the effect of the increased P during mechanical ventilation on the right ventricular preload will mainly affect the cardiac output, resulting in a positive PPV. However, P is more influenced by the change in alveolar pressure, which produces an increase in right heart overload, resulting in high PPV. In particular, if spontaneous breathing is strong, the transvascular pressure will be extremely high, which may lead to the promotion of alveolar flooding and increased RV flow. Asynchronous breathing and mediastinal swing may damage the pulmonary circulation and right heart function. Therefore, according to the principle of PPV, a high PPV can be incorporated into the whole respiratory treatment process to monitor the mechanical ventilation cycle damage/protection regardless of the controlled ventilation or spontaneous breathing. Through the monitoring of PPV, the circulation-protective ventilation can be guided at bedside in real time by PPV.

Arm swinging is a typical feature of human walking: Continuous and rhythmic movement of the upper limbs is important to ensure postural stability and walking efficiency. However, several factors can interfere with arm swings, making walking more risky and unstable: These include aging, neurological diseases, hemiplegia, and other comorbidities that affect motor control and coordination. Objective assessment of arm swings during walking could play a role in preventing adverse consequences, allowing appropriate treatments and rehabilitation protocols to be activated for recovery and improvement. This paper presents a system for gait analysis based on Microsoft Azure Kinect DK sensor and its body-tracking algorithm: It allows noninvasive full-body tracking, thus enabling simultaneous analysis of different aspects of walking, including arm swing characteristics. Sixteen subjects with Parkinson's disease and 13 healthy controls were recruited with the aim of evaluating differences in arm swing features and correlating them with traditional gait parameters. Preliminary results show significant differences between the two groups and a strong correlation between the parameters. The study thus highlights the ability of the proposed system to quantify arm swing features, thus offering a simple tool to provide a more comprehensive gait assessment.

INTRODUCTION
Central precocious puberty (CPP) results from premature activation of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, with the consequent increase of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH); GnRH agonists (GnRHa) represent the gold-standard therapy in children with CPP although their use might be responsible for pituitary GnRH receptors down-regulation, that in turn suppresses luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and blocks of gonadal sex hormones release. The most prescribed GnRHa in the clinical practice are leuprolide and triptorelin, whose use is generally safe and well tolerated; however, mild menopausal-like side effects could appear. The aim of the present study was to investigate and compare the efficacy and tolerability profile of leuprolide and triptorelin in CPP patients.
METHODS
110 girls affected by CPP were enrolled in this retrospective study, carried out from 2018 to 2020. The enrolled patients received leuprolide ( = 48) or triptorelin ( = 62). Efficacy was investigated by the means of clinical parameters and radiological changes and side effects were also recorded to evaluate the possible relationship between the two GnRHa treatments and side effects appearance.
RESULTS
At baseline triptorelin patients had significantly higher LH and LH peak levels than leuprolide patients, whereas no significant difference in other patient characteristics was observed between the two groups. The leuprolide treatment lasted 971 days [790-1,171 days] while the duration of triptorelin administration was 792 days [760-1,003 days] ( < 0.001). Overall 46 (41.8%) of the studied patients reported mild menopausal-like symptoms: among these 27 were treated with triptorelin and 19 with leuprolide ( = 0.558). Patients treated with triptorelin, or leuprolide showed headache (27.4% vs. 16.7%), mood swings (12.9% vs. 16.7%), increased appetite (12.9% vs. 18.8%) and nausea (1.6% vs. 10.4%) respectively. Moreover, the onset of side effects appearance related to GnRHa therapy significantly reduces with the increase of the initial bone age ( = 0.038).
CONCLUSION
Leuprolide and triptorelin treatment appear to be effective and safe without significant difference between the two drugs in term of efficacy and tolerability, making both good options for treating CPP.

BACKGROUND
Golf courses are designed with uneven terrain. These factors are especially important when facing (slope), players need to straighten the posture of each part of the body in order to complete the swing on an inclined surface such as flat ground. Amateur players may be more likely to change the movement patterns of their shots due to uneven terrain. Therefore, it may be necessary to clarify the shot characteristics of amateur players and provide reference materials for technical improvement.
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of slope on amateur golfers' swing kinematics by analyzing the variation of time variables, body center of gravity (COG), and shot parameters of amateur golfers' swing at different ground slopes.
METHODS
Six male amateur golfers participated in the experiment. The 7-iron was used for 5 swings each at three slopes: flat ground (FG, 0∘), ball below foot (BBF, +10∘), and foot below ball (FBB, -10∘). The OptiTrack-Motion capture system was used to collect kinematic data, and the three-dimensional motion data will be transmitted to Visual3D software for subsequent data analysis such as golf swing division and body COG changes. Shot parameters (carry, swing speed, ball speed, and smash factor) were recorded for each swing using the Caddie SC300 radar monitoring device.
RESULTS
The results showed that there was no difference in the overall swing time and the time required for each interval at different slopes (p> 0.05) there is no significant difference in the change of the COG of the body in the forward and backward directions (p> 0.05). The three slopes of swing speed, ball speed, carry and smash factor were not significantly different (p> 0.05).
CONCLUSION
The rhythm of the amateur golfer's swing was not affected by the slope, but the slope restricts the movement of the body's COG, which may affect the weight movement, and ultimately cause the performance parameters to not reach the level of the FG.

Premenstrual symptoms, including physical and mood symptoms, affect a large proportion of women worldwide. Data on premenstrual symptoms across nations and age groups is limited. In the present study, we leveraged a large international dataset to explore patterns in premenstrual symptom frequency with age. A survey was administered to users of the Flo mobile application (app), aged 18 to 55. The survey queried app users about a range of premenstrual symptoms. Respondents were asked whether they experienced each symptom every menstrual cycle, some cycles, or never. Age was also captured and categorized as 18-27, 28-37, 38-47, 48-55. Data was summarized and Pearson's chi square test for count data assessed differences in symptom frequency by age group. A sample of 238,114 app users from 140 countries responded to the survey. The most common symptoms reported were food cravings (85.28%), mood swings or anxiety (64.18%), and fatigue (57.3%). Absentmindedness, low libido, sleep changes, gastrointestinal symptoms, weight gain, headaches, sweating or hot flashes, fatigue, hair changes, rashes, and swelling were significantly more frequent with increasing age (p's < 0.001). Mood swings and anxiety did not vary by age group. Of the respondents, 28.61% reported that premenstrual symptoms interfered with their everyday life each menstrual cycle. In a large international sample, the majority of women reported premenstrual food cravings, mood changes, and fatigue every menstrual cycle. Mood symptoms did not vary by age group, suggesting that premenstrual mood changes are a persistent issue among women of reproductive age.

BACKGROUND
The association between benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and various mental disorders is still controversial. This study used the Mendelian randomization (MR) method to clarify the correlation between BPPV and seven mental disorders (bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, suicidality, neuroticism, and mood swings) to aid in the exploration of BPPV complications and prevention and early treatment of mental disorders.
METHODS
The datasets for BPPV and seven mental disorders were obtained from genome-wide association studies (GWASs). Two-sample MR was used to analyze the correlation between exposure (BPPV) and various outcomes (bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, suicidality, neuroticism, and mood swings). A reverse MR study was also performed. The inverse variance weighting (IVW) method, the MR-Egger method, the simple mode method, the weighted mode method, and the weighted median method were selected.
RESULTS
The MR analysis and the reverse MR analysis results did not reveal significant associations between BPPV and bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, suicidal tendencies, neuroticism, and mood swings. Interestingly, neuroticism (IVW: OR = 1.142, 95% CI: 1.059-1.231, = 0.001; P-MR-PRESSO adjustment = 0.0002) and mood swings (IVW: OR = 3.119, 95% CI: 1.652-5.884, = 0.0004) may have a significant association with BPPV. After MR-PRESSO adjustment, there was no horizontal pleiotropy or heterogeneity, and a significant association between neuroticism, mood swings, and BPPV has still been suggested.
CONCLUSION
We conducted MR analysis on genetic data from European populations and discovered a causal relationship between BPPV and the seven mental disorders. Our research findings suggest that BPPV may not have a significant causal relationship with bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, or suicidal tendencies. However, neuroticism and mood swings may be risk factors for BPPV.

Hypothyroidism is a widespread condition in the United States, affecting approximately 5% of the adult population. Although the clinical use of levothyroxine is well understood, its effect on preventing dementia is not well established. While the exact role of thyroid hormones in the adult brain is unknown, it is apparent that poor thyroid function can lead to mood swings, cognitive impairment, and other psychiatric symptoms. Most studies demonstrate an association between thyroid health and cognition, specifically slow processing of information, decreased effectiveness of executive functions, and lack of learning. This study aims to review the effect of levothyroxine on dementia. We searched electronic databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Cochrane, gray literature, and the references of included articles to find relevant articles. Two investigators independently identified eligible studies, screened title/abstract, and extracted data. We identified a total of 319 citations through a database search with six studies (case-control, longitudinal, cross-sectional, randomized controlled trials) meeting the inclusion criteria. Studies with moderate to low risk of bias were evaluated using their respective quality check tools. Five of six studies showed a positive impact of levothyroxine (LT-4) on dementia. According to these studies, the plausible rationale behind the reversal of memory with LT-4 treatment is restoring thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine (T4) levels, and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) concentrations. People with abnormal thyroid function should be screened for cognitive dysfunction using specific neurocognitive tests and start treatment with LT-4 regardless of symptom presentation. Multi-dose randomized placebo-controlled intervention studies are recommended to assess the effect of LT-4 on lowering the risk of dementia in hypothyroid patients.

The World Health Organization declares coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a pandemic, and The World Economic Forum argues that the COVID-19-induced global lockdown is the biggest psychological experiment. This study is an attempt to empirically evaluate the possible adverse psychosocial effects caused by COVID-19-related lockdown, if any. To do so, a cross-sectional study is conducted based on a comprehensive online survey using snowball sampling to analyze the level of social and psychological impacts (i.e., stress, belief in stakeholders, fear of losing job, and life satisfaction) during the early stage of the outbreak in Pakistan. The questionnaire is filled out by the residents in Pakistan including working professionals and students (sample size is 428). We find that the development of stress due to COVID-19-induced lockdown is particularly because of mood swings. Additionally, a higher prevalence of stress in the children of highly educated mothers is evident (95% confidence). To assess the belief in stakeholders, we focus gender, demographics, and education. It is observed that parental education and age significantly affect the belief in several stakeholders (i.e., government, media, religious clerics, and family). The lockdown-induced fear of losing job is lower in female and male children whose fathers are graduates. Lastly, we observe that food storage and "no fear of losing job" significantly increases the odds of life satisfaction. These findings have important implications in the context of social insurance, parental education, and policy related to COVID-19 at various levels. This study further facilitates to understand the factors that might affect the mental health and life satisfaction of people during such pandemics.
