Parasitic myomas are fibromyomas without anatomical relation to the uterus. It is a rare condition mostly described after laparoscopic fibroid morcellation. This is a case report of a patient with a symptomatic abdominal mass eight years after total abdominal hysterectomy. A parasitic myoma was found in relation to coecum and removed laparoscopically. The condition should be considered in symptomatic women with previous fibroid surgery.

BACKGROUND
Revision procedures for recurrent Dupuytren disease (DD) can be difficult and carry a high risk of complications. Our goal was to describe surgical strategies used for cases of recurrence and report on their outcomes.
METHODS
We reviewed 1 surgeon's operative cases for recurrent DD performed at 1 institution. Prior procedures included collagenase injection, percutaneous needle fasciotomy, or open surgical fasciectomy in the same digit or area of the hand.
RESULTS
From January 1981 to December 2020, 54 procedures were performed on 33 patients for recurrent DD. Most patients were men (82%), had bilateral involvement (64%) and family history (52%), and some had ectopic disease in their feet (24%). The small finger was involved in 76% of the cases, and the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint was involved in 83% of these digits. The procedures included 38 partial fasciectomies (72%), 12 dermofasciectomies (23%), 3 radical fasciectomies (6%), 1 of each needle fasciotomy, ray amputation, and PIP joint arthrodesis (2%). Twenty-three patients (43%) required full thickness skin grafts with an average area of 7.1 cm (range: 1-20 cm).
CONCLUSIONS
This study highlights the complexity of recurrent DD case management and found the treatment required for 95% of patients in this series was open partial fasciectomy with or without demofasciectomy. Full thickness skin grafting was necessary in nearly half of the cases.

The term giant cell-rich tumors of bone refers to a shared morphologic pattern in a group of different osseous lesions, that is, the abundance of osteoclastlike giant cells. Fitting with a broad spectrum of clinical presentations and biological behavior, the recent detection of characteristic molecular alterations in giant cell tumor of bone (H3-3), nonossifying fibroma (KRAS, FGFR1), giant cell granuloma of the jaws (KRAS, FGFR1, TRPV4), and aneurysmal bone cyst (USP6) have contributed significantly to the biological understanding of these morphologically related but clinically distinct lesions and their systematic classification, highlighting differences and pathogenic relationships.

A nuchal-type fibroma is a rare, benign fibrous tumour that typically occurs in the posterior neck along the midline, but can occur in extra-nuchal locations, most commonly in the back, shoulder and face. We present a biopsy-proven case that arose as a result of heavy gym-related activities. In particular, a heavy barbell was rested on his vertebral prominence at the level of C7/T1 during leg squatting. Repetitive trauma as a cause for extra-nuchal-type fibromas has been sparsely reported, but we suggest that sustained high pressure is an additional required feature. Although this lesion was in the posterior neck, it was contained entirely within the subcutaneous tissues without involvement of the nuchal ligament. Hence, it was considered an extra-nuchal fibroma. A description of key ultrasound and MRI imaging characteristics are provided to assist in making the diagnosis, along with a review of the current literature and a discussion of differential diagnoses.

Palmar and plantar fibromatosis are benign proliferative processes which present as a diffuse thickening or nodules of the hands and/or feet and may lead to flexion contractures, pain, and functional impairment known as Dupuytren and Ledderhose diseases, respectively. Current treatments are noncurative and associated with significant morbidity. Here, we report on the outcomes of 5 patients with advanced disease, no longer surgical candidates, treated with sorafenib. Sorafenib exhibited an expected safety profile. All 5 patients demonstrated objective responses as evaluated by a decrease in tumor size and/or tumor cellularity from baseline and all 5 patients reported subjective pain relief and/or functional improvement. Mechanistically, immunohistochemistry revealed patchy positivity for PDGFRβ, a known target of sorafenib. The outcomes of these 5 patients suggest the safety and efficacy of a relatively well-tolerated oral agent in the treatment of Dupuytren and Ledderhose diseases and suggest the need for future controlled studies.

Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT), a relatively common disorder characterized by hypercalcemia with raised or inappropriately normal serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) concentrations, may occur as part of a hereditary syndromic disorder or as a non-syndromic disease. The associated syndromic disorders include multiple endocrine neoplasia types 1-5 (MEN1-5) and hyperparathyroidism with jaw tumor (HPT-JT) syndromes, and the non-syndromic forms include familial hypocalciuric hypercalcemia types 1-3 (FHH1-3), familial isolated hyperparathyroidism (FIHP), and neonatal severe hyperparathyroidism (NS-HPT). Such hereditary forms may occur in > 10% of patients with PHPT, and their recognition is important for implementation of gene-specific screening protocols and investigations for other associated tumors. Syndromic PHPT tends to be multifocal and multiglandular with most patients requiring parathyroidectomy with the aim of limiting end-organ damage associated with hypercalcemia, particularly osteoporosis, nephrolithiasis, and renal failure. Some patients with non-syndromic PHPT may have mutations of the MEN1 gene or the calcium-sensing receptor (CASR), whose loss of function mutations usually cause FHH1, a disorder associated with mild hypercalcemia and may follow a benign clinical course. Measurement of the urinary calcium-to-creatinine ratio clearance (UCCR) may help to distinguish patients with FHH from those with PHPT, as the majority of FHH patients have low urinary calcium excretion (UCCR < 0.01). Once genetic testing confirms a hereditary cause of PHPT, further genetic testing can be offered to the patients' relatives and subsequent screening can be carried out in these affected family members, which prevents inappropriate testing in normal individuals.

The current study ushers in a comprehensive review in clinical research to demonstrate the prevalence of musculoskeletal (MSK) complications in diabetes mellitus and the most relevant clinical aspects. In particular, revealing the early symptoms of the disorders, the pathology lurking behind the complications and their optimal management. In diabetes mellitus, MSK complications are common and are largely due to similar pathogenetic factors responsible for the internal organ complications associated with diabetes leading to chronic low-intensity inflammatory processes. MSK disorders develop by vasculopathy, neuropathy, arthropathy or combinations of the above, which are not specific to diabetes. However, their prevalence is significantly increased in diabetes and contributes to the disability impairing patients' quality of life. Locomotor disease affects approximately 34.4-83.5 % of patients suffering from type-2 diabetes mellitus. Several musculoskeletal abnormalities (cheiroarthropathy, Dupuytren's contracture, trigger finger, ect.) can be diagnosed upon physical examination, although certain symptoms (frozen shoulder, neurogenic arthropathy, septic arthritis, etc.) require differential diagnostic considerations. Early identification regarding characteristic symptoms in the treatment reducing inflammation and pain, followed with increasingly strenuous exercise therapy, aligned with optimal management of carbohydrate metabolism, proves essential in alleviating MSK complications.

PURPOSE
Gingival fibromas (GFs) are fibrous lesions of the gingiva that are not well defined in the literature. They are histologically similar to peripheral ossifying fibromas (POFs), both being characterized as cellular proliferations of dense fibrous tissue, with POFs differing in that they demonstrate foci of calcification. This study aims to expand upon the immunohistochemical characterization of GFs, and to confirm their osteoblastic phenotype.
METHODS
Formalin fixed, paraffin embedded GFs, POFs and fibroepithelial polyps (FEPs) of the gingiva were examined. Immunohistochemical staining was performed for special AT-rich sequence binding protein 2 (SATB2), runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), osteocalcin and alpha-smooth muscle actin (αSMA). Sections were evaluated by light microscopy and the immunohistochemical staining patterns were assigned immunoreactive scores (IRS) based on percentage of stained cells and intensity of staining.
RESULTS
GFs, POFs, and FEPs of the gingiva expressed osteoblastic markers SATB2, RUNX2 and osteocalcin. GFs and POFs expressed αSMA while FEPs of the gingiva did not. GFs and POFs had similar staining patterns of SATB2, RUNX2 and αSMA.
DISCUSSION
These findings demonstrate that GFs and POFs exhibit a similar immunohistochemical profile, and supports a theory that GFs are osteoblastic lesions possibly related to POFs.
