BACKGROUND
Time management practice is the act of influencing one's behavioural dimensions to complete as many tasks as possible within a specified amount of time. These behavioural dimensions include work organization and the continued application of time management techniques. Good time management, such as setting goals and priorities, as well as planning and delegating tasks, can facilitate productivity and success, contributing to work effectiveness, maintaining balance and job satisfaction. Conversely, poor time management has been associated with poor quality of work, low productivity, negative influence on the career path, and high levels of stress.
AIM
The study aims to identify the strategies used by middle nurse managers in time management.
METHODS
A rapid review of biomedical databases was undertaken during the month of June 2021. The included studies were published in English and in Italian.
RESULTS
Findings reveal that the most used and effective time management strategies for nurse managers are setting goals, and priorities and delegating tasks. Other useful strategies also found to be fundamental are discussed in detail.
CONCLUSION
A manager should prioritize the concept of planning, which can be counted as an efficient time management technique and educate himself on delegating. Time management has an impact not only on productivity and organizational success, but also on the balance between private and working life of managers.

Oxidative stress (OS), characterized by the excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), is an emerging hallmark of cancer. Tumorigenesis and development driven by ROS require an aberrant redox homeostasis, that activates onco-signaling and avoids ROS-induced programmed death by orchestrating antioxidant systems. These processes are revealed to closely associate with noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs). On the basis of the available evidence, ncRNAs have been widely identified as multifarious modulators with the involvement of several key redox sensing pathways, such as NF-κB and Nrf2 signaling, therefore potentially becoming effective targets for cancer therapy. Furthermore, the vast majority of ncRNAs with property of easy detected in fluid samples (e.g., blood and urine) facilitate clinicians to monitor redox homeostasis, indicating a novel method for cancer diagnosis. Herein, focusing on carcinoma initiation, metastasis and chemoradiotherapy resistance, we aimed to discuss the ncRNAs-ROS network involved in cancer progression, and the potential clinical application as biomarkers and therapeutic targets.

The current Coronavirus disease outbreak requires that physicians work in collaboration with other physicians especially in intensive care and emergency units. To fight against this new disease, whose pathogenesis, effects, and results have not been clearly demonstrated, especially in patients with the pre-existing chronic disease, requires special expertise and perspectives. Due to the need for dynamic glucocorticoid treatment at different stages of the disease in patients with adrenal insufficiency, the existence of reports indicating that "coronavirus disease 2019" also affects the adrenal reserve, and the use of glucocorticoids also in advanced stages in patients with Coronavirus disease require this issue to be emphasized with precision. Herein, treatment of the pre-existing adrenal insufficiency in patients with actual Coronavirus disease and the effects of the this critical disease on the adrenal gland have been reviewed.

Business organisations are subject to high pressure to ensure their sustainability and competitiveness. In the case of healthcare institutions, moreover, there are unique characteristics where human resource management is of vital importance. The workforce in these institutions is at a critical moment where the shortages of qualified staff, burnout, or job dissatisfaction represent some of the detrimental aspects for the performance of the organisation, and more importantly, they diminish the quality of patient care. The promotion of organisational commitment is positioned as one of the tools that organisations have to face this problem. This paper aims to increase knowledge about research trends that analyse organisational commitment in healthcare institutions. To this end, using bibliometric techniques, a sample of 448 publications on this subject from journals indexed in Web of Science between 1992 and 2020 is analysed. The results obtained suggest a growing interest in this subject and a visible concern for the management of human resources in these institutions. Research has focussed mainly on organisational factors related to nursing staff. The most analysed topics have been job satisfaction, the implications of stress and high turnover, burnout syndrome, and the possibility of leaving the job. On the other hand, issues emerged such as empowerment in the workplace and others related to organisational management such as quality of service or performance. Finally, there is a lack of research that deals more deeply with other groups working in health centres, such as doctors or administrative staff. There is also a need for further development in the analysis of the implications of the ideological psychological contract in relation to normative organisational commitment in the field of healthcare organisations. The contribution of this work focusses on expanding knowledge about commitment in healthcare organisations and creating points of support for future research as well as helping healthcare managers make decisions in HR management.

BACKGROUND
The UK Health and Safety Executive's Stress Management Competency Framework and associated questionnaire, the Stress Management Competency Indicator Tool (SMCIT), address line managers' behaviours across four competency areas. The application in policing remains unexplored.
AIMS
This study profiled English police officers' perception of their line managers' competencies in the framework areas. The odds of experiencing poor mental wellbeing and work attitudes associated with having a line manager with a development need on each competency area were tested.
METHODS
Two hundred and sixty-three police officers completed a survey comprising the SMCIT and measures of psychological distress, resilience and work engagement. Bivariate correlations were calculated to identify patterns of relationships between variables. Binary logistic regression analyses tested the odds of psychological distress caseness, low resilience and low work engagement being associated with officers' perception of their line manager having a development need on the SMCIT criteria.
RESULTS
Approximately half the participants reported their line manager had a development need on the 'Managing and Communicating Existing and Future Work', 'Managing the Individual Within the Team' and 'Reasoning and Managing Difficult Situations' competencies, and one quarter on the 'Respectful and Responsible: Managing Emotions and Having Integrity' competency. Officers' rating of their line manager having a development need on the four competency areas was associated with up to four-fold elevated odds of each undesirable state.
CONCLUSIONS
The framework competency areas are relevant to English policing and offer a basis for stress reduction interventions targeted at line managers' behaviours.

OBJECTIVE
To provide family physicians with an updated approach to the diagnosis and management of Ménière disease (MD), detailing the natural course of MD and describing how to initiate medical therapy while awaiting consultation with otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.
SOURCES OF INFORMATION
The approach is based on the authors' clinical practices and review articles from 1989 to 2018. Most of the cited studies provided level II or III evidence.
MAIN MESSAGE
Ménière disease is an uncommon disorder of the inner ear causing vertigo attacks with associated unilateral hearing loss, tinnitus, and aural fullness. It has a degenerative course that often results in permanent sensorineural hearing loss. On average, MD stabilizes with no further vestibular attacks by about 8 years after the onset of symptoms; however, this is highly variable. Vertigo symptoms can be controlled through a combination of dietary salt restriction, stress reduction, and medical therapy (betahistine, diuretics, or both). These can be initiated by family physicians before consultation with otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. Symptoms refractory to such strategies can be treated using nonablative, and occasionally ablative, therapies.
CONCLUSION
A thorough history is key to the approach to and management of MD and permits differentiating MD from other vestibular and nonvestibular conditions.

Numerous epidemiological and clinical studies demonstrate the beneficial effects of naturally occurring, polyphenol supplementations, on cardiovascular system. The present review emphasizes on the risk factors associated with cardiovascular disorders (involving heart and blood vessels), and overview of preclinical and clinical trials on polyphenols for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The review collaborates PUBMED, Google Scholar and Research gate databases, which were explored using keywords and their combinations such as polyphenols, cardiovascular disease, flavonoids, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular risk factors and several others, to create an eclectic manuscript. The potency and efficacy of these polyphenols are mainly depending upon the amount of consumption and bioavailability. Recent data showed that polyphenols also exert beneficial actions on vascular system by blocking platelet aggregation and oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), ameliorating endothelial dysfunction, reducing blood pressure, improving antioxidant defenses and alleviating inflammatory responses. Several studies evidently support the cardioprotective actions mediated by polyphenols, however, some studies or long-term follow-up of human studies, did not demonstrate decisive outcomes because of variations in dose regimen and lack of appropriate controls. Therefore, more data is required to explore the therapeutic benefits of bioactive compounds as a preventive therapy for CVDs.

METHODS
This study is a qualitative interview study. The authors used the stimulated recall interview (SRI) with nurses working at a children's hospital in southern Sweden for the data collection. In total twelve nurses were interviewed and qualitative content analysis was used for the data analysis.
RESULTS
The results are presented as one theme: Need for higher competencies and evidence, and three categories: Routines can enable pain assessment, Trusting one's own assessment of the whole picture, and Pain assessment scales as an extra workload. The interviewed nurses acknowledged that pain assessment tools are a vital part of the field of pain treatment. They also had trust issues with measuring and estimating pain by means of a tool such as pain scale. Furthermore, their opinion was that too many different tools and methods add up towards a more blurry and stress-related environment and due to a lack of consistent routines, pain assessment is seen as a work-related burden in the daily routines.
CONCLUSION
Results from the present study indicated that nurses need clear routines in combination with continued education regarding pain assessment with pain scales, which might be the key to successful pediatric pain assessment and thus to better pain management within pediatrics.

The past decade has been a time of great change for US physicians. Many physicians feel that the care delivery system has become a barrier to providing high-quality care rather than facilitating it. Although physician distress and some of the contributing factors are now widely recognized, much of the distress physicians are experiencing is related to insidious issues affecting the cultures of our profession, our health care organizations, and the health care delivery system. Culture refers to the shared and fundamental beliefs of a group that are so widely accepted that they are implicit and often no longer recognized. When challenges with culture arise, they almost always relate to a problem with a subcomponent of the culture even as the larger culture does many things well. In this perspective, we consider the role of culture in many of the problems facing our health care delivery system and contributing to the high prevalence of professional burnout plaguing US physicians. A framework, drawn from the field of organizational science, to address these issues and heal our professional culture is considered.

The ongoing pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a substantial stressor that is greatly impacting environmental sustainability. Besides, the different pre-existing environmental stressors and coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)-related stressors are further worsening the effects of the viral disease by inducing the generation of oxidative stress. The generated oxidative stress results in nucleic acid damage associated with viral mutations, that could potentially reduce the effectiveness of COVID-19 management, including the vaccine approach. The current review is aimed to overview the impact of the oxidative stress damage induced by various environmental stressors on COVID-19. The available data regarding the COVID-19-related stressors and the effects of oxidative stress damage induced by the chronic stress, exposure to free radicals, and malnutrition are also analyzed to showcase the promising options, which could be investigated further for sustainable control of the pandemic.
