Review
The dentist's chair presents an opportunity to pick up ear nose and throat lesions, by virtue of the close proximity of the anatomical areas. Urgent two-week wait referral can expedite assessment and management of head and neck malignancies, thereby improving the prognosis. In this paper, we attempt to highlight the ear, nose and throat (ENT) conditions that need a two week referral, as well as the benign head and neck lesions which can potentially be picked up in a dentist's chair.

Review
This manuscript provides an overview of therapeutic options for the problem of bleeding in a dentist’s office. Bleeding after tooth extraction is a very common finding in dental medicine and persistent blood in the mouth is obviously uncomfortable and sometimes terrifying for the patient. Most bleedings can be stopped simply with compression, in some cases a homeostatic therapy is necessary. For local compression, a swab with tranexamic acid is useful. If local compression is not sufficient, sutures are often an option. A very effective therapy would also be Tabotamp®, a local hemostypticum which is placed onto the bleeding and should increase the thrombocytic aggregation. In the worst case Floseal®, a human Thrombin, can be placed locally. It stops the bleeding very fast and sufficiently.

Relationships between the dentist and his (her) patient depend on the psychologic status of both. The dentist's temper and emotional requirements, as well as, though to a lesser degree, patient's temper and his/her mental abnormalities are sources of potential complications in these relationships. The personality of a dentist is virtually never regarded in literature as a factor of therapeutic action on the patients over the course of fitting them with dentures. The present paper deals with the deontologic situation dentist-patient.

Review
It has been recognized that the diagnosis and treatment of caries vary so widely among dentists that patients increasingly feel the need to inform themselves and to compare recommended treatments before accepting one. This phenomenon is all the more present in pit and fissure surfaces intervention choices, where there is a wide variety of available treatments. This article will attempt to highlight the factors explaining the pit and fissure treatment variation. The lack of knowledge on pit and fissure sealant effectiveness and indications as well as dentists' clinical experiences have given rise to different myths and prejudices that have had an impact on the variability of treatment decision making. When in doubt about the necessity to execute a treatment, each decision to withhold treatment results in an incomplete care episode. A dentist's lack of comfort with withholding treatment may stop him from offering preventive care and cause him to follow a restoration-oriented practice. It is therefore increasingly urgent to achieve agreement among dentists, especially as current knowledge on the subject is giving way to new research.
