Honey is a natural product with many beneficial properties including antimicrobial action. Production of hydrogen peroxide (HO) in diluted honey is central to this action. Here, we describe an optimized method for measuring levels of HO in honey. This method is based on established methods, with the level of dilution, the time between dilution and reading the assay, and aeration of the samples during the assay identified as critical points for ensuring reliability and reproducibility. The method is cost-effective and easy to perform using common laboratory equipment. Using this method, we quantified the hydrogen peroxide content of five different, unprocessed polyfloral honeys collected in NC, USA. Our results show that HO production by these honeys varies greatly, with some samples producing negligible levels of HO. We assessed the effect of colour on the assay by measuring the recovery of spiked HO from light and dark honey and from serially diluted dark corn syrup, and found the amount of HO that could be detected was lower in dark corn syrup and darker honey samples.

The hydrothermal preparation of o-dianisidine and triazine interlinked porous organic polymer and its successive derivatisation via metal infusion (Ni, Cu) under hydrothermal and calcination conditions (700 °C) to yield pristine (ANIPOP-700) and Ni/Cu decorated porous carbon are described here (Ni-ANIPOP-700 and Cu-ANIPOP-700). To confirm their chemical and morphological properties, the as-prepared materials were methodically analyzed using solid state C and N NMR, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, field emission scanning and high resolution transmission electron microscopic techniques, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Furthermore, the electrocatalytic activities of these electrocatalysts were thoroughly investigated under standard oxygen evolution (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) conditions. The results show that all of the materials demonstrated significant activity in water splitting as well as displayed excellent stability (22 h) in both acidic (HER) and basic conditions (OER). Among the electrocatalysts reported in this study, Ni-ANIPOP-700 exhibited a lower overpotential η of 300 mV in basic medium (OER) and 150 mV in acidic medium (HER), as well as a lower Tafel slope of 69 mV/dec (OER) and 181 mV/dec (HER), indicating 30% lower energy requirement for overall water splitting. Gas chromatography was used to examine the electrolyzed products.

In the present paper, a peroxidase was purified from the leaves of a medicinal tree, namely Azadirachta indica, to 45.2 folds with overall recovery of 61%. Based on the subunit size, the purified peroxidase was suggested to be a monomeric structure of size 50kDa and exhibited good thermostability as it was fully stable at 65°C for 1hr and also retained about 73% activity at 70°C till 30min. The substrate affinity was found to be in order of guaiacol>pyrogallol>o-dianisidine. The purified peroxidase was found to be insensitive towards high concentrations of Na, Ca, Mg and Mn. Heavy metals, namely Cs, Co and Cd activated the peroxidase while that of Hg deactivated the peroxidase in concentration dependent manner. The purified peroxidase exhibited tolerance towards organic solvents in order of ethanol>butanol>isopropanol>acetone. Immobilization of purified peroxidase by entrapment into chitosan beads led to shift in its optimum pH from pH 5 to 7 and considerable enhancement in dye decolorization ability as compared to that of free enzyme. Thus, based on all the above properties, it may be suggested that the purified A. indica peroxidase is a promising candidate for industrial applications.

Comparative Study
Tmem88a is a transmembrane protein that is thought to be a negative regulator of the Wnt signalling pathway. Several groups have used antisense morpholino oligonucleotides in an effort to characterise the role of tmem88a in zebrafish cardiovascular development, but they have not obtained consistent results. Here, we generate an 8 bp deletion in the coding region of the tmem88a locus using TALENs, and we have gone on to establish a viable homozygous tmem88aΔ8 mutant line. Although tmem88aΔ8 mutants have reduced expression of some key haematopoietic genes, differentiation of erythrocytes and neutrophils is unaffected, contradicting our previous study using antisense morpholino oligonucleotides. We find that expression of the tmem88a paralogue tmem88b is not significantly changed in tmem88aΔ8 mutants and injection of the tmem88a splice-blocking morpholino oligonucleotide into tmem88aΔ8 mutants recapitulates the reduction of erythrocytes observed in morphants using o-Dianisidine. This suggests that there is a partial, but inessential, requirement for tmem88a during haematopoiesis and that morpholino injection exacerbates this phenotype in tmem88a morpholino knockdown embryos.

Review
PURPOSE
We examined the history and the present conditions of the occupational bladder cancer of our country and a chemical carcinogenesis study career of the bladder cancer.
OBJECT AND METHOD
We performed consideration from literatures mainly on document and Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Labor Standards Bureau, Accident compensation element document and documents of Association of Formation Product Industry.
RESULT
Production of aromatic amine was started in about 1920 in our country, and the first occupational bladder cancer case was reported in 1940. It arrived at the greatest amount of production time of aromatic amine caused by Communist China Trade in 1955. The production, the import of benzidine and 2-naphthylamine were prohibited in 1972 by Safe Hygiene Method Official Announcement. During this time, 3,310 people were exposed by these materials, and the occupational bladder cancer of 357 people was registered by 1985. A number authorized from 1976 through 2006 that Workmen's comp was started is 341 cases of urinary tract system tumors by duties exposed to benzidine, 150 cases of urinary tract system tumors by duties exposed to 2-naphthylamine and one case of urinary tract tumors by o-dianisidine in total 492 cases. The occupational urinary tract cancer patient almost reaches a retirement age, and it is thought that they reach the end in about 2025.
CONCLUSION
We reported the history and the present conditions of the occupational bladder cancer which occurred from 3,310 people of aromatic amine revelation in our country and we commented on a trend of the recent occupational bladder cancer for consideration from literatures.

Strategies to reduce reperfusion injury after ischemia have been considered in clinical practice, but few interventions have successfully passed the proof-of-concept stage. In this study, we developed a novel zebrafish larvae hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) model to simulate myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI), with potential utility as a drug screening tool. After H/R treatment, videos of transgenic [Tg(cmlc:EGFP)] larval zebrafish hearts were captured using a digital high-speed camera, and the heart rate, diastolic area, systolic area, and total fraction of area changed were quantified. The mRNA expression of and was quantified, and red blood cells (RBCs) were detected by O-dianisidine staining. We found that a decline in cardiac contractility occurred in zebrafish larvae 48 h after hypoxia treatment. Reoxygenation for 2-5 h after 48 h of hypoxia caused heart dysfunction in zebrafish larvae, and were determined to be the optimum conditions for simulating MIRI similar to mammalian models. Our results indicated that heart dysfunction after reoxygenation in zebrafish larvae was accompanied by an upregulated gene expression of a number of myocardial injury biomarkers and increased numbers of RBCs. In conclusion, the novel larval zebrafish H/R model developed in this study could be used for rapid screening and efficacy assessment of MIRI therapeutics.
