Publishing profiles can help institutions and financing agencies understand the different needs of knowledge areas and regions for development within a country. Incites ® (Web of Science) was used to see where Brazilian authors were publishing, the impact, and the cost of this publishing. The USA was the country of choice for publishing journals, along with Brazil, England, and the Netherlands. While Brazilian authors continue to publish in hybrid journals, they are more often opting for closed access, with 89% of the papers published in Brazil being open access, compared with 21% of papers published abroad. The correlation between the cost of publishing and the number of citations was positive and significant. Publishing patterns were different depending on the area of knowledge and the Brazilian region. Stagnation or reduction in publications with international collaboration, industry collaboration, or in high impact open access journals may be the cause of a reduction in citation impact. These data can help in elaborating public and institutional policies for financing publications in Brazil, especially when looking at unfavourable changes in currency exchange rates.

INTRODUCTION
A medical dissertation is mandatory during medical studies in France. Often these dissertations are only considered an old-fashioned tradition but nonetheless require scientific research. According to recent publications, only 10% are secondarily published; however, there are no specific studies on pediatric medical dissertations.
METHOD
For all medical dissertations from students assigned to pediatrics in 2003, a subsequent publication was searched for on Pubmed and Google Scholar. When such a publication was found, data on the student's rank, the impact factor (IF), the language of publication, and the number of citations were retrieved.
RESULTS
For students assigned to pediatrics in 2003, 27.9% of the 172 medical theses were published, with a mean delay of 2.21 years. French was the language in 29%, and the mean IF was 2.3. There was no statistical association between student sex, age, university, size of the medical dissertation and publication.
DISCUSSION
More than 25% of the pediatric medical dissertations are published. According to available data, this is a good rate but nonetheless still low. We found no clear factor associated with publication.
CONCLUSION
Only a small fraction of pediatric medical dissertations are published.

Amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, preprints in the biomedical sciences are being posted and accessed at unprecedented rates, drawing widespread attention from the general public, press, and policymakers for the first time. This phenomenon has sharpened long-standing questions about the reliability of information shared prior to journal peer review. Does the information shared in preprints typically withstand the scrutiny of peer review, or are conclusions likely to change in the version of record? We assessed preprints from bioRxiv and medRxiv that had been posted and subsequently published in a journal through April 30, 2020, representing the initial phase of the pandemic response. We utilised a combination of automatic and manual annotations to quantify how an article changed between the preprinted and published version. We found that the total number of figure panels and tables changed little between preprint and published articles. Moreover, the conclusions of 7.2% of non-COVID-19-related and 17.2% of COVID-19-related abstracts undergo a discrete change by the time of publication, but the majority of these changes do not qualitatively change the conclusions of the paper.

Trials has 10 years of experience in providing open access publication of protocols for randomised controlled trials. In this editorial, the senior editors and editors-in-chief of Trials discuss editorial issues regarding managing trial protocol submissions, including the content and format of the protocol, timing of submission, approaches to tracking protocol amendments, and the purpose of peer reviewing a protocol submission. With the clarification and guidance provided, we hope we can make the process of publishing trial protocols more efficient and useful to trial investigators and readers.
