Since the origin of the Successful Aging (SA) model by Rowe and Kahn, scholars have been working on enriching the content of SA and taking actions to promote this concept worldwide. While most studies primarily focus on older individuals, only a few scholars have considered the environmental aspect of SA. However, the environment, directly and indirectly, enhances older adults' abilities to achieve SA. To measure SA comprehensively and address inequalities among older adults, this theoretical article aims to challenge current SA models by incorporating both individual and environmental aspects and proposing four measurement dimensions: inclusivity of disadvantaged groups, culture-specific adaptation, balance between physical and social environments, and dynamics of the whole lifecycle. Moreover, this article provides examples to illustrate how environment can support older adults especially those who would be defined as "unsuccessful" under the original SA model. Our proposed model would provide theoretical guidance for future research and spark new ideas for policies and programs that support every older adult in achieving SA.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
This study examined the psychometric properties and measurement invariance of the 10-item Awareness of Age-Related Change Short Form (AARC-SF) questionnaire in a Chinese-speaking sample of older adults in Taiwan.
RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS
Data from 292 participants (Mage = 77.64 years) in the Healthy Aging Longitudinal Study in Taiwan (HALST) cohort were used for Study 1, whereas data from young-old adult samples in Germany were used for Study 2.
RESULTS
Study 1 showed that the AARC-SF had satisfactory reliability and validity for assessing adults' AARC in Taiwan. Analyses confirmed the two-factor structure of AARC-gains and AARC-losses. Study 2 demonstrated strong measurement invariance across men and women, whereas direct comparisons of the item scores between young-old adults and old-old adults need to be made with caution. Non-invariance of loadings indicated that certain items were more closely linked to AARC-gains and AARC-losses in Taiwan than in Germany. Non-invariance of intercepts suggested potential biases in comparing item scores between Taiwanese and German older adults.
DISCUSSION AND IMPLICATIONS
The AARC-SF emerged as a reliable and valid instrument for capturing positive and negative subjective aging experiences among Taiwanese older adults. However, it is noteworthy that some items on the AARC-SF may solicit different responses from individuals of different ages and different countries of origin, requiring caution with age group and cross-cultural comparisons.

For aging-related research, there is a pressing need to attend to the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based interventions. Some aging-related interventions with established effectiveness may be poorly disseminated and implemented due to behavioral, organizational, payment, or other constraints. To provide insight into the beginning to end process of translation and implementation, we present a case history of the three-decade progression of Hospital at Home (HaH) now nearing national dissemination. We summarize research at various phases with particular attention to implementation considerations. Reviewing over three decades of HaH-related research dating from initial discovery to translation and implementation, we found that the content and importance of different constructs (e.g., inner practice vs. outer environmental setting) and the choice of implementation strategies differed depending on implementation context (testing of effectiveness, scaling, or sustainability). Early effectiveness studies mostly examined implementation issues related to the intervention, the practice setting, and the individuals involved. However, explicit and early consideration of scale and sustainment was not the primary focus. For example, HaH program intake is primarily through hospital emergency departments (ED). Initial efforts would have benefited from incorporating strategies (e.g., incorporating ED leadership into program leadership) to address night and weekend admissions. Many regulatory barriers did not surface during initial considerations. Considering implementation issues late may contribute to delay in bringing discoveries to population impact. The experience with HaH suggests that scale and sustainability bear earlier consideration because barriers and facilitators to implementation are likely to be different in content and importance at different phases of implementation.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
This study examined the impact of receiving foundational information about aging on continuing education (CE) interests, preferences, and behaviors of mental health providers.
RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHOD
Participants were practicing licensed professional counselors (LPCs; N = 120) recruited from a random sampling of a state registry. The study employed a three-group randomized controlled design with participants assigned to one of three conditions: an aging-specific reading, an Opioid Use Disorder-specific reading, and a CE requirement-specific reading. As outcomes, participants rated their interest in aging-specific CE and selected to receive an aging-specific CE or Motivational Interviewing-specific CE program.
RESULTS
Perceived competence for working with older adults, assessed before the experimental manipulation, predicted choice and degree of interest in the aging-specific CE across conditions. Participants in the Aging-Reading condition rated a higher interest in aging-specific CE and were marginally more likely to select the aging-specific CE option than those in the other two conditions. Those in the Aging-Reading condition were also more likely to register for and complete an actual CE program focused on any topic.
DISCUSSION AND IMPLICATIONS
Foundational knowledge about aging may increase practitioners' interest and behaviors towards gaining competency for working with older adults, supporting the PEACE model (Levy, 2018) of reducing ageism.

In adults, polygenic scores (PGSs) of telomere length (TL) alleles explain about 4.5% of the variance in TL, as measured by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Yet, these PGSs strongly infer a causal role of telomeres in aging-related diseases. To better understand the determinants of TL through the lifespan, it is essential to examine to what extent these PGSs explain TL in newborns. This study investigates the effect of PGSs on TL in both newborns and their parents, with TL measured by Southern blotting and expressed in base-pairs (bp). Additionally, the study explores the impact of PGSs related to transmitted or non-transmitted alleles on TL in newborns. For parents and newborns, the PGS effects on TL were 172 bp (p = 2.03 × 10) and 161 bp (p = 3.06 × 10), explaining 6.6% and 5.2% of the TL variance, respectively. The strongest PGS effect was shown for maternally transmitted alleles in newborn girls, amounting to 214 bp (p = 3.77 × 10) and explaining 7.8% of the TL variance. The PGS effect of non-transmitted alleles was 56 bp (p = 0.0593) and explained 0.6% of the TL variance. Our findings highlight the importance of TL genetics in understanding early-life determinants of TL. They point to the potential utility of PGSs composed of TL alleles in identifying susceptibility to aging-related diseases from birth and reveal the presence of sexual dimorphism in the effect of TL alleles on TL in newborns. Finally, we attribute the higher TL variance explained by PGSs in our study to TL measurement by Southern blotting.

Limited training and transfer effects in older and young adults who participated in 12 sessions of process-based working memory training. A three-armed pretest-posttest design study.
OBJECTIVE
Numerous studies confirm the effectiveness of cognitive training in older adults. However, there is limited evidence of the transfer occurrence. The part of the study presented here tested the effect of 12 process-based working memory training sessions on the performance of the trained task (training effect) and other cognitive tasks (transfer effect). A pretest-posttest study design with one experimental group and two control (passive and active) groups. The sample comprised three groups of older adults: experimental (n = 25), passive control (n = 22), active control (n = 7), and young adults: experimental (n = 25), passive control (n = 25), and active control (n = 12). The study was registered after completion with a ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT06235840 on 31 January 2024.
RESULTS
Under the influence of training, the performance of the trained task improved significantly, but only in young adults. Transfer of WM training effects was not revealed. Among young adults, a testing effect was observed for the indicator of attentional focus and psychomotor speed. Moreover, the obtained results suggest the transfer from practice in multi-domain training, implemented in the active control group, to tasks that require the use of fluid intelligence. However, this finding should be interpreted with great caution due to the small size of active control groups.

BACKGROUND
Amyloid-β (Aβ) and tau are brain hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease (AD), also present in blood as soluble biomarkers or encapsulated in extracellular vesicles (EVs). Our goal was to assess how soluble plasma biomarkers of AD pathology correlate with the number and content of EVs.
METHODS
Single-molecule enzyme-linked assays were used to quantify Aβ42/40 and tau in plasma samples and neurally-derived EVs (NDEVs) from a cohort of APOE ε4- (n = 168) and APOE ε4+ (n = 68) cognitively normal individuals and AD patients (n = 55). The ratio of CD56 (Neuronal cell-adhesion molecule) to CD81 signal measured by ELISA-DELFIA was used for the relative quantification of NDEVs in plasma samples.
RESULTS
The soluble plasma Aβ42/40 ratio is decreased in AD patients compared to cognitively normal individuals. The amount and content (Aβ40, Aβ42, tau) of plasma NDEVs were similar between groups. Plasma NDEVs quantity remain consistent with aging and between AD and CN individuals. However, the quantity of soluble biomarkers was negatively correlated to NDEVs number in cognitively normal individuals, while in AD patients, this correlation is lost, suggesting a shift in the mechanism underpinning the production and the release of these biomarkers in pathological conditions.
CONCLUSION
Soluble plasma Aβ42/40 ratio is the most robust biomarker to discriminate between AD patients and CN individuals, as it normalizes for the number of NDEVs. Analysis of NDEVs and their content pointed toward peculiar mechanisms of Aβ release in AD. Further research on independent cohorts can confirm our findings and assess whether plasma Aβ and tau need correction by NDEVs for better AD risk identification in CN populations.

Platelet-derived exosomes alleviate tendon stem/progenitor cell senescence and ferroptosis by regulating AMPK/Nrf2/GPX4 signaling and improve tendon-bone junction regeneration in rats.
BACKGROUND
Tendon stem/progenitor cell (TSPC) senescence contributes to tendon degeneration and impaired tendon repair, resulting in age-related tendon disorders. Ferroptosis, a unique iron-dependent form of programmed cell death, might participate in the process of senescence. However, whether ferroptosis plays a role in TSPC senescence and tendon regeneration remains unclear. Recent studies reported that Platelet-derived exosomes (PL-Exos) might provide significant advantages in musculoskeletal regeneration and inflammation regulation. The effects and mechanism of PL-Exos on TSPC senescence and tendon regeneration are worthy of further study.
METHODS
Herein, we examined the role of ferroptosis in the pathogenesis of TSPC senescence. PL-Exos were isolated and determined by TEM, particle size analysis, western blot and mass spectrometry identification. We investigated the function and underlying mechanisms of PL-Exos in TSPC senescence and ferroptosis via western blot, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and immunofluorescence analysis in vitro. Tendon regeneration was evaluated by HE staining, Safranin-O staining, and biomechanical tests in a rotator cuff tear model in rats.
RESULTS
We discovered that ferroptosis was involved in senescent TSPCs. Furthermore, PL-Exos mitigated the aging phenotypes and ferroptosis of TSPCs induced by t-BHP and preserved their proliferation and tenogenic capacity. The in vivo animal results indicated that PL-Exos improved tendon-bone healing properties and mechanical strength. Mechanistically, PL-Exos activated AMPK phosphorylation and the downstream nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) signaling pathway, leading to the suppression of lipid peroxidation. AMPK inhibition or GPX4 inhibition blocked the protective effect of PL-Exos against t-BHP-induced ferroptosis and senescence.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, ferroptosis might play a crucial role in TSPC aging. AMPK/Nrf2/GPX4 activation by PL-Exos was found to inhibit ferroptosis, consequently leading to the suppression of senescence in TSPCs. Our results provided new theoretical evidence for the potential application of PL-Exos to restrain tendon degeneration and promote tendon regeneration.
