BACKGROUND
Interference with activities of daily living can negatively impact maternal practices both physically and psychologically. This study aimed to explore the patterns of interference with activities of daily living and perineal pain among Japanese women until 1 month postpartum. Furthermore, we aimed to describe how both perineal pain and delivery-related factors were associated with interference with activities of daily living.
METHODS
This study was part of a larger prospective longitudinal study conducted at five maternity hospitals in Japan. The participants were 293 women who had full-term vaginal deliveries and singleton infants. Participants self-evaluated their perineal pain and interference with activities of daily living using a 100 mm visual analogue scale and 'behaviour that interferes with daily life scale' at day 1, day 5, and 1 month postpartum. We used a linear mixed model to calculate the fixed-effects parameter estimates and their 95% confidence intervals. Interference with activities of daily living, which included difficulty sitting, difficulty moving, and difficulties with excretion and cleanliness, were set as the dependent variables.
RESULTS
The final analysis included 184 participants with a mean age of 31.5±4.5 years. Perineal pain and the three sub-scales of interference with activities of daily living reduced from day 1 to 5 postpartum, and further from day 5 to 1 month postpartum (perineal pain, p<0.01, p<0.01; difficulty sitting, p<0.01, p<0.01; difficulty moving, p<0.01, p<0.01; difficulties with excretion and cleanliness, p<0.01, p<0.01). These tendencies did not change, even adjusted for independent variables using a mixed model. In the mixed model for follow-up data, perineal pain was a significantly and positively associated with three sub-scales of interference with activities of daily living, even after adjusted for perineal injury and episiotomy.
CONCLUSIONS
Positive relationships were observed between perineal pain and interference with activities of daily living until 1 month postpartum, although both reduced. To promote maternal role attainment through child-rearing since early postpartum, midwives should pay additional attention to mothers' perineal pain as it could negatively affect their daily life and child-rearing.

Epigenetic processes influence health and disease through mechanisms which alter gene expression. In contrast to genetic changes which affect DNA sequences, epigenetic marks include DNA base modifications or post-translational modification (PTM) of proteins. Histone methylation is a prominent and versatile example of an epigenetic marker: gene expression or silencing is dependent on the location and extent of the methylation. Protein methyltransferases exhibit functional redundancy and broad preferences for multiple histone residues, which presents a challenge for the study of their individual activities. We developed an isotopically labelled analogue of co-factor S-adenosyl-L-methionine (CD-BrSAM), with selectivity for the histone lysine methyltransferase DOT1L, permitting tracking of methylation activity by mass spectrometry (MS). This concept could be applied to other methyltransferases, linking PTM discovery to enzymatic mediators.

Nanofluidic channels impose extreme confinement on water and ions, giving rise to unusual transport phenomena strongly dependent on the interactions at the channel-wall interface. Yet how the electronic properties of the nanofluidic channels influence transport efficiency remains largely unexplored. Here we measure transport through the inner pores of sub-1 nm metallic and semiconducting carbon nanotube porins. We find that water and proton transport are enhanced in metallic nanotubes over semiconducting nanotubes, whereas ion transport is largely insensitive to the nanotube bandgap value. Molecular simulations using polarizable force fields highlight the contributions of the anisotropic polarizability tensor of the carbon nanotubes to the ion-nanotube interactions and the water friction coefficient. We also describe the origin of the proton transport enhancement in metallic nanotubes using deep neural network molecular dynamics simulations. These results emphasize the complex role of the electronic properties of nanofluidic channels in modulating transport under extreme nanoscale confinement.

Experiments on ultrasound propagation through a gel doped with resonant encapsulated microbubbles provided evidence for a discontinuous transition between wave propagation regimes at a critical excitation frequency. Such behavior is unlike that observed for soft materials doped with non-resonant air or through liquid foams, and disagrees with a simple mixture model for the effective sound speed. Here, we study the discontinuous transition by measuring the transition as a function of encapsulated microbubble volume fraction. The results show the transition always occurs in the strong-scattering limit (l/λ < 1, l and λ are the mean free path and wavelength, respectively), that at the critical frequency the effective phase velocity changes discontinuously to a constant value with increasing microbubble volume fraction, and the measured critical frequency shows a power law dependence on microbubble volume fraction. The results cannot be explained by multiple scattering theory, viscous effects, mode decoupling, or a critical density of states. It is hypothesized the transition depends upon the microbubble on-resonance effective properties, and we discuss the results within the context of percolation theory. The results shed light on the discontinuous transition's physics, and suggest soft materials can be engineered in this manner to achieve a broad range of physical properties with potential application in ultrasonic actuators and switches.

Studies examining lifestyle and cognitive decline often use healthy lifestyle indices, making it difficult to understand implications for interventions. We examined associations of 16 lifestyles with cognitive decline. Data from 32,033 cognitively-healthy adults aged 50-104 years participating in prospective cohort studies of aging from 14 European countries were used to examine associations of lifestyle with memory and fluency decline over 10 years. The reference lifestyle comprised not smoking, no-to-moderate alcohol consumption, weekly moderate-plus-vigorous physical activity, and weekly social contact. We found that memory and fluency decline was generally similar for non-smoking lifestyles. By contrast, memory scores declined up to 0.17 standard deviations (95% confidence interval= 0.08 - 0.27) and fluency scores up to 0.16 standard deviations (0.07 - 0.25) more over 10 years for those reporting smoking lifestyles compared with the reference lifestyle. We thus show that differences in cognitive decline between lifestyles were primarily dependent on smoking status.

Dietary content and combined training, but not daily physical activity, are associated with 6-month bone mineral changes in adolescents with obesity: A Secondary analysis of the PAC-MAnO trial.
PURPOSE
The present study aimed to explore the influence of diet and physical activity (PA) changes on bone mineral content (BMC) and density (BMD) alterations in adolescents with obesity undergoing a weight loss program.
METHODS
Six-month longitudinal data from 71 adolescents (aged 15.1 [± 1.6] years; 57.7% girls) with a BMI z-score of 3.03 (± 0.78), previously recruited for the PAC-MAnO trial, were analyzed using Generalized Estimation Equations for over time changes and linear regressions with BMC, BMD and BMD z-score as dependent variables, adjusting for confounders (including type of exercise- aerobic vs. combined).
RESULTS
Adjusting for confounders, changes in carbohydrate (CH) and protein content showed to positively and negatively predict BMD z-score variance, respectively (β = 0.44, 95%CI: 0.01, 0.04, p < .001); β = -0.57, 95%CI: -0.06, -0.03, p < .001), yet no associations were found between PA and bone-related parameters. Combined exercise showed better results on BMC compared to aerobic exercise (β = 0.09, 95%CI: 0.05 to 0.13, p < .001).
CONCLUSIONS
Increased CH content, instead of protein, may be associated with BMD improvements in adolescents with obesity. Type of exercise may moderate the impact of PA on bone health.

Moiré superlattices with a robust twist proximity effect in the low-dimensional regime can facilitate nanoscale thermoelectric devices. In pristine systems, the low efficiency and lack of proficient control of thermoelectric properties impede desirable advancements in the field of energy conversion. In the present study, we demonstrate remarkable macroscopic thermoelectric response as a consequence of microscopic band structure modulation via the twist proximity in an engineered CrI/1T-MoS moiré superlattice. The local twist effect, which leads to the microscopic phenomena of electron localization, results in a comprehensive electronic structure modulation. Consequently, these local effects convolute the macroscopic thermoelectric effect. Additionally, flat bands and angle-dependent metallic to semiconducting transitions are observed at 10.89, 23.41, and 30° twist angles. We correlate the observed phenomenon with the augmented spin-charge transport and interconversion via the twist proximity effect in its semiconducting phase. The estimated ultralow electronic and lattice thermal conductivities further corroborate with the observed large figure of merit and Seebeck coefficient. The maximum values of the Seebeck coefficient and figure of merit are estimated to be ∼413 μV/K and ∼4.3 at 200 K for 30° under the constant time relaxation approach. The twist-endowed outstanding thermoelectric effect in moiré superlattices with band modulation unveils a distinctive approach to establish efficient thermoelectric devices.

Internal dosimetry supports safe and effective patient management during radionuclide therapy. Yet, it is associated with high clinical workload, costs, and patient burden, as patient scans at multiple time points (MTPs) must be acquired. Dosimetry based on imaging at a single time point (STP) has continuously gained popularity. However, MTP protocols, used as a reference to judge the validity of STP dosimetry, differ depending on local requirements and deviate from the unknown patient-specific ground truth pharmacokinetics. The aim of this study was to compare the error and optimum time point for different STP approaches using different reference MTP protocols. Whole-body SPECT/CT scans of 7 patients (7.4-8.9 GBq of [Lu]Lu-PSMA-I&T) were scheduled at 24, 48, 72, and 168 h after injection. Sixty lesions, 14 kidneys, and 10 submandibular glands were delineated in the SPECT/CT data. Two curve models, that is, a mono- and a biexponential model, were fitted to the MTP data, in accordance with goodness-of-fit analysis (coefficients of variation, sum of squared errors). Three population-based STP approaches were compared: one method published by Hänscheid et al., one by Jackson et al., and one using population-based effective half-lives in the mono- or biexponential curve models. Percentage differences between STP and MTP dosimetry were evaluated. Goodness-of-fit parameters show that a monoexponential function and a biexponential function with shared population-based parameters and physical tail are reasonable reference models. When comparing both reference models, we observed maximum differences of -44%, -19%, and -28% in the estimated absorbed doses for lesions, kidneys, and salivary glands, respectively. STP dosimetry with an average deviation of less than 10% from MTP dosimetry may be feasible; however, this deviation and the optimum imaging time point showed a dependence on the chosen reference protocol. STP dosimetry for [Lu]Lu-PSMA therapy is promising to boost the integration of dosimetry into clinical routine. According to our patient cohort, 48 h after injection may be regarded as a compromise for STP dosimetry for lesions and at-risk organs. The results from this analysis show that a common gold standard for dosimetry is desirable to allow for reliable and comparable STP dosimetry.

BACKGROUND/AIM
Hypertension occurs frequently in patients taking pazopanib. Therefore, this study aimed to clarify the predictive factors for pazopanib-induced hypertension.
PATIENTS AND METHODS
In total, 47 patients who started pazopanib treatment for renal cell carcinoma or soft tissue sarcoma during hospitalization at Kurume University Hospital from November 2012 to February 2020 were included in the study. Patient background factors associated with pazopanib-induced hypertension were analyzed using a logistic regression model. Subsequently, a time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was performed to evaluate changes in the predictive performance of predictors of pazopanib-induced hypertension over time.
RESULTS
Logistic regression analysis showed that total bilirubin (t-bil) and sex are predictors of pazopanib-induced hypertension, along with systolic blood pressure (SBP) before pazopanib introduction. Additionally, evaluation of area under the curve (AUC) changes over time during the first 20 days of pazopanib treatment using time-dependent ROC showed that the AUC tended to be higher in the first half for SBP and in the second half for t-bil. Moreover, models including these two factors (SBP+t-bil and SBP+t-bil+sex) maintained a higher AUC from the early to late stages of the treatment period.
CONCLUSION
Total bilirubin and sex can serve as predictors of pazopanib-induced hypertension. Total bilirubin may contribute to the prediction of the development of hypertension after day 5.

Benzotriazole ultraviolet absorbents (BUAs) of emerging concern were recently monitored in seawater and sediments from the Bohai Sea (BS) and North Yellow Sea (NYS), which are impacted by human activities, to elucidate their regional occurrence patterns, phase distributions, and contamination profiles. Although environmental variables such as sedimentary organic carbon, particle size, and salinity, as well as hydrological conditions, affected the environmental occurrence of BUAs in the BS and NYS, the source dependence of BUA distributions associated with urban impacts and riverine inputs was highlighted. Substantial spatial variability in the composition patterns and contamination profiles of BUAs identified through correlation and principal component analyses were likely caused by region-specific sources and characteristics. The distribution of target BUAs between the sediment and seawater phases showed no dependence on the octanol-water partition coefficient (K) but exhibited marked spatial variations. The diversity of BUA sorption behaviors was further explained by the total organic carbon (TOC)-normalized distribution coefficient (K). Classic logK-logK linear relationships accurately predicted the phase distributions of UV-326, UV-328, and UV-234, but deviations were found for lighter and heavier BUAs, possibly due to the influences of physical disturbance and microparticle binding.
