Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus L.) populations have declined in North America. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) recently classified the species as endangered, sparking public concern and conservation efforts. Our approach to conservation is through cryopreservation of germinal cells and tissue. The goal of this study was to develop a cryopreservation protocol for monarch spermatozoa to ensure successful long-term storage. Cryopreserved sperm cells would provide a reserve of monarch germplasm, which could be utilized in the event of population loss. In this study, sperm cell bundles collected from male monarch butterflies were cryopreserved in a cryoprotective medium and stored in liquid nitrogen. To determine the post-cryopreservation sperm cell viability, a subsample of preserved sperm bundles were thawed rapidly, and their viability was qualified using a sperm live/dead stain. We are presenting a protocol to preserve and store genetic material and viable sperm bundles of the monarch butterfly. To date, this is the first report of successful cryopreservation of monarch germplasm which sets the foundation for cryostorage and could be extensible to other vulnerable lepidopterans.

The rise of multidrug-resistant bacteria is a well-recognized threat to world health, necessitating the implementation of effective treatments. This issue has been identified as a top priority on the global agenda by the World Health Organization. Certain strains, such as Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida lusitaniae, Candida auris, select cryptococcal species, and opportunistic Aspergillus or Fusarium species, have significant intrinsic resistance to numerous antifungal medicines. This inherent resistance and subsequent suboptimal clinical outcomes underscore the critical imperative for enhanced therapeutic alternatives and management protocols. The challenge of effectively treating fungal infections, compounded by the protracted timelines involved in developing novel drugs, underscores the pressing need to explore alternative therapeutic avenues. Among these, drug repurposing emerges as a particularly promising and expeditious solution, providing cost-effective solutions and safety benefits. In the fight against life-threatening resistant fungal infections, the idea of repurposing existing medications has encouraged research into both established and new compounds as a last-resort therapy. This chapter seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of contemporary antifungal drugs, as well as their key resistance mechanisms. Additionally, it seeks to provide insight into the antimicrobial properties of non-traditional drugs, thereby offering a holistic perspective on the evolving landscape of antifungal therapeutics.

Standardized MR imaging protocols are important for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and the appropriate use of MR imaging in routine clinical practice. Advances in using MR imaging to establish an earlier diagnosis of MS, safety concerns regarding intravenous gadolinium-based contrast agents, and the value of spinal cord MR imaging for diagnostic, prognostic, and monitoring purposes suggest a changing role of MR imaging for the management and care of MS patients. The MR imaging protocol emphasizes 3 dimensional acquisitions for optimal comparison over time.

Ad hoc teamwork is a research topic in multi-agent systems whereby an agent (the "ad hoc agent") must successfully collaborate with a set of unknown agents (the "teammates") without any prior coordination or communication protocol. However, research in ad hoc teamwork is predominantly focused on agent-only teams, but not on agent-human teams, which we believe is an exciting research avenue and has enormous application potential in human-robot teams. This paper will tap into this potential by proposing HOTSPOT, the first framework for ad hoc teamwork in human-robot teams. Our framework comprises two main modules, addressing the two key challenges in the interaction between a robot acting as the ad hoc agent and human teammates. First, a decision-theoretic module that is responsible for all task-related decision-making (task identification, teammate identification, and planning). Second, a communication module that uses natural language processing to parse all communication between the robot and the human. To evaluate our framework, we use a task where a mobile robot and a human cooperatively collect objects in an open space, illustrating the main features of our framework in a real-world task.

The study explored DC. for mosquito larvicidal potential by performing bioactivity-guided chemical investigation of its root extract resulting in isolation of the known bioactive metabolite glaucarubinone (). Mosquito larvicidal activity of glaucarubinone () against the three vector species viz. and was determined using a modified WHO 2005 protocol. It was observed that larvae were the most susceptible species with LC 13.88 ppm and LC 70.01 ppm followed by and at 24 h of exposure. The mode of action as observed microscopically is the lysis of midgut and thorax cells of the third instar larvae. The crystal structure of the glaucarubinone () is reported for the first time using X-ray crystallography. This phytochemical product has the potential to act as a green alternative to existing chemical-based insecticides for integrated vector management.

OBJECTIVE
The escalating prevalence of noncarious tooth wear stands as a critical concern in the backdrop of evolving lifestyles and dietary patterns. Dental erosion, a progressive condition induced by both endogenous and exogenous acidic influences, directly impacts enamel integrity, resulting in surface loss. The contemporary surge in carbonated beverage consumption further exacerbates this erosive milieu, underscoring the urgency for dental practitioners to adopt meticulous treatment strategies. Existing literature underscores a noteworthy 94% reduction in tooth erosion risk for individuals abstaining from sweetened soft beverages, emphasizing the imperative for a well-devised remineralization protocol to counter demineralized surfaces.
METHODOLOGY
Seventy-three enamel specimens were taken. Forty samples were subjected to pre-operative hardness testing, and five samples were subjected to baseline EDX evaluation followed by grouping of samples (Group 1 = control Group; Group 2 = casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate fluoride [CPP-ACPF] Group; Group 3 = Biomin F Group; and Group 4 = self-assembling peptide [SAP] P-114 Group). A demineralization-remineralization cycle was carried out for 5 days followed by testing through Vickers Microhardness Tester, EDX Evaluation, and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Imaging. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance followed by intergroup analysis using Tukey's test with SPSS software 25.0 version.
RESULTS
The mean percentage change in microhardness values was 30.05% in Group 1, 24.21% in Group 2, 18.85% in Group 3, and 12.08% in Group 4. The mean Ca/P ratio of samples tested through EDAX was 2.20 at baseline, 1.40 in Group 1 (Control Group), 1.62 in Group 2 (CPP-ACPF), 1.82 in Group 3 (Biomin F), and 2.01 in Group 4 (SAP-P114). Postintervention values were statistically significant from baseline values in both parameters.
CONCLUSION
Curodont Protect exhibits superior efficacy, offering valuable insights for future studies and clinical applications. The multifaceted evaluation, encompassing microhardness testing, SEM analysis, and EDXS assessment, contributes to a nuanced interpretation of the agents' impact, paving the way for informed decisions in clinical practice and future research endeavors.

BACKGROUND

Antimicrobial resistance is considered a global anxiety because it causes human public health repercussions, as well as leads to an increase in animal morbidity and death.
AIM
The aims of this study are the isolation and identification of , as well as to investigate the antimicrobial susceptibility test (AST) and the molecular characteristics using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequences for isolates from chicken products (eggs, livers, and minced meat) and human in the Wasit Governorate of Iraq.
METHODS
A total of 300 samples (150 chicken product samples including eggs, livers, and minced meat, and 150 human fecal samples) were collected from the Wasit governorate of Iraq from January to December 2022. The bacterial isolation was done according to recommendations of ISO 6579 standard and the Global Foodborne Infections Network laboratory protocol. Serotyping test and AST were done by using 19 antibiotic agents according to the recommendations of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute, 2022 by using disc diffusion susceptibility test and Vitik 2 test. Finally, the suspected isolates were confirmed using the conventional PCR method and sequencing for a unique gene.
RESULTS
The results showed that the isolation percentage of in chicken products was 8.66% (12% eggs, 6% livers, and 8% minced meat), while in humans it was 4.6%. Also, showed 100% of in humans. While, in chicken eggs , and were 50%, 33.33%, and 16.66%, respectively. Also, showed 100% of in both livers and minced meat. The AST in human isolates showed resistance to Ampicillin, Cefotaxime, Ceftazidime, Cefepime, Amikacin, Gentamicin, Ciprofloxacin, Norfloxacin, and Ceftriaxone, while no resistance to Amoxicillin, Pipracillin, Ertapenem, Imipenem, Meropenem, Fosfomycin, Nitrofurantoin, Trimethoprim, Azithromycin, and Tetracycline. In chicken products, isolates were resistant with different percentages to Amikacin, Gentamicin, Tetracycline, Ciprofloxacin, Norfloxacin, Nitrofurantoin, Ampicillin, Cefotaxime, Ceftazidime, Cefepime, and Trimethoprim; while no resistance to Amoxicillin, Pipracillin, Ertapenem, Imipenem, Meropenem, Fosfomycin, Azithromycin, and Ceftriaxone. Sequencing by using gene was done for four PCR products.
CONCLUSION
This study showed the presence of genetic mutations for which led to variations in the molecular characteristics, and antimicrobial drug resistance of isolated from chicken products and humans.

BACKGROUND
Chemotherapy-related cardiotoxicity is a significant concern because it is a major cause of morbidity. This study aimed to provide in-depth information on the symptoms of chemotherapy-related cardiotoxicity (CRCT) by exploring literature that concurrently reports the types and symptoms of CRCT in patients with breast cancer.
METHODS
A scoping review was performed according to an a priori protocol using the Joanna Briggs Institute's guidelines. The participants were patients with breast cancer. The concept was the literature of specifically reported symptoms directly matched with CRCT and the literature, in English, from 2010, and the context was open. The search strategy included four keywords: "breast cancer," "chemotherapy," "cardiotoxicity," and "symptoms." All types of research designs were included; however, studies involving patients with other cancer types, animal subjects, and symptoms not directly related to CRCT were excluded. Data were extracted and presented including tables and figures.
RESULTS
A total of 29 articles were included in the study, consisting of 23 case reports, 4 retrospective studies, and 2 prospective studies. There were no restrictions on the participants' sex; however, all of them were women, except for one case report. The most used chemotherapy regimens were trastuzumab, capecitabine, and doxorubicin or epirubicin. The primary CRCT identified were myocardial dysfunction and heart failure, followed by coronary artery disease, pulmonary hypertension, and other conditions. Major tests used to diagnose CRCT include echocardiography, electrocardiography, serum cardiac enzymes, coronary angiography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. In all case reports, CRCT was diagnosed through an incidental checkup according to the patient's symptom presentation; however, only 10 of these studies showed a baseline checkup before chemotherapy. The five most common CRCT symptoms were dyspnea, chest pain, peripheral edema, fatigue, and palpitations, which were assessed by patient-reported symptom presentation rather than using a symptom assessment tool. Dyspnea with trastuzumab treatment and chest pain with capecitabine treatment were particularly characteristic. The time for first symptom onset after chemotherapy ranged from 1 hour to 300 days, with anthracycline-based regimens requiring 3-55 days, trastuzumab requiring 60-300 days, and capecitabine requiring 1-7 days.
CONCLUSIONS
This scoping review allowed data mapping according to the study design and chemotherapy regimens. Cardiac assessments for CRCT diagnosis were performed according to the patient's symptoms. There were approximately five types of typical CRCT symptoms, and the timing of symptom occurrence varied. Therefore, developing and applying a CRCT-specific and user-friendly symptom assessment tool are expected to help healthcare providers and patients manage CRCT symptoms effectively.

Effect of ultrasound-guided injection of botulinum toxin type A into shoulder joint cavity on shoulder pain in poststroke patients: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial.
BACKGROUND
Hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP) is a common complication after stroke. It severely affects the recovery of upper limb motor function. Early shoulder pain in hemiplegic patients is mainly neuropathic caused by central nerve injury or neuroplasticity. Commonly used corticosteroid injections in the shoulder joint can reduce shoulder pain; however, the side effects also include soft tissue degeneration or increased tendon fragility, and the long-term effects remain controversial. Botulinum toxin injections are relatively new and are thought to block the transmission of pain receptors in the shoulder joint cavity and inhibit the production of neuropathogenic substances to reduce neurogenic inflammation. Some studies suggest that the shoulder pain of hemiplegia after stroke is caused by changes in the central system related to shoulder joint pain, and persistent pain may induce the reorganization of the cortical sensory center or motor center. However, there is no conclusive evidence as to whether or not the amelioration of pain by botulinum toxin affects brain function. In previous studies of botulinum toxin versus glucocorticoids (triamcinolone acetonide injection) in the treatment of shoulder pain, there is a lack of observation of differences in changes in brain function. As the content of previous assessments of pain improvement was predominantly subjective, objective quantitative assessment indicators were lacking. Functional near-infrared imaging (fNIRS) can remedy this problem.
METHODS
This study protocol is designed for a double-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial of patients with post-stroke HSP without biceps longus tenosynovitis or acromion bursitis. Seventy-eight patients will be randomly assigned to either the botulinum toxin type A or glucocorticoid group. At baseline, patients in each group will receive shoulder cavity injections of either botulinum toxin or glucocorticoids and will be followed for 1 and 4 weeks. The primary outcome is change in shoulder pain on the visual analog scale (VAS). The secondary outcome is the assessment of changes in oxyhemoglobin levels in the corresponding brain regions by fNIRS imaging, shoulder flexion, external rotation range of motion, upper extremity Fugl-Meyer, and modified Ashworth score.
DISCUSSION
Ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin type A shoulder joint cavity injections may provide evidence of pain improvement in patients with HSP. The results of this trial are also help to analyze the correlation between changes in shoulder pain and changes in cerebral hemodynamics and shoulder joint motor function.

OBJECTIVES
Current recommendations support surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients indicated for cardiac surgery. These procedures are referred to as concomitant and may be carried out using radiofrequency energy or cryo-ablation. This study aimed to assess the electrophysiological findings in patients undergoing concomitant cryo-ablation.
METHODS
Patients with non-paroxysmal AF undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting and/or valve repair/replacement were included in the trial if concomitant cryo-ablation was part of the treatment plan according to current guidelines. The patients reported in this study were assigned to undergo staged percutaneous radiofrequency catheter ablation (PRFCA), i.e., hybrid treatment, as a part of the SURHYB trial protocol.
RESULTS
We analyzed 103 patients who underwent PRFCA 105 ± 35 days after surgery. Left and right pulmonary veins (PVs) were found isolated in 65 (63.1%) and 63 (61.2%) patients, respectively. The LA posterior wall isolation and mitral isthmus conduction block were found in 38 (36.9%) and 18 (20.0%) patients, respectively. Electrical reconnections (gaps) in the left PVs were more often localized superiorly than inferiorly (57.9% vs. 26.3%, P = 0.005) and anteriorly than posteriorly (65.8% vs. 31.6%, P = 0.003). Gaps in the right PVs were more equally distributed anteroposteriorly but dominated in superior segments (72.5% vs. 40.0%, P = 0.003). There was a higher number of gaps on the roof line compared to the inferior line (131 (67.2%) vs. 67 (42.2%), P < 0.001). Compared to epicardial cryo-ablation, endocardial was more effective in creating PVs and LA posterior wall isolation (P < 0.05). Cryo-ablation using nitrous oxide (N0) or argon (Ar) gas as cooling agents was similarly effective (P = NS).
CONCLUSIONS
The effectiveness of surgical cryo-ablation in achieving transmural and durable lesions in the left atrium is surprisingly low. Gaps are located predominantly in the superior and anterior portions of the PVs and on the roof line. Endocardial cryo-ablation is more effective than epicardial ablation, irrespective of the cooling agent used.
