Review
Electrophysiological biomarkers are being examined as potential diagnostic measures of cognitive impairment and its manifestations for psychiatric nurses' use in the care of Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, there is no integrative review describing the themes from the current research about electrophysiological biomarkers and the developing relationship among the themes. Characterizing this developing relationship is imperative for any possible integration of biomarkers into the care of AD by psychiatric nurses. The purpose of this integrative review is to identify themes from the current research about electrophysiological biomarkers of AD and the developing relationship among the themes, the conceivable relational premise for psychiatric nurses to integrate electrophysiological biomarkers into the screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of AD for the care of persons with AD. A literature search was executed with PUBMED (accessing Medline and Elsevier) and CINAHL databases that focused on studies about electrophysiological biomarkers of AD from 2015 to 2022. Twenty-seven peer-reviewed studies met this review's inclusion criteria. Five themes emerged: (1) assessing/screening, (2) assessment differential, (3) diagnosing, (4) diagnostic accuracy, and (5) treating. These themes related sequentially and linearly, establishing a developing relationship about the risk, the onset, and the progression of AD. Electrophysiological biomarkers associated to cognitive impairment in AD, supporting the accepted understanding of the symptoms of AD. Changes in behavior and functioning were not examined, limiting the possible integration of electrophysiological biomarkers. Further investigations are warranted with an expansion of the clinical symptoms and diverse study populations.

Frontiers in Genetics 2024Sleep is associated with psychiatric disorders. However, their causality remains unknown.
INTRODUCTION
Sleep is associated with psychiatric disorders. However, their causality remains unknown.
METHODS
The study explored the causal relationship between seven sleep parameters (sleep duration, insomnia, sleep apnea, chronotype, daytime dozing, napping during the day, and snoring) and three psychiatric disorders including major depressive disorder (MDD), schizophrenia, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) using two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR). Genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary data for sleep parameters were obtained from the United Kingdom biobank, FinnGen biobank, and EBI databases. MR-Egger, weighted median, inverse-variance weighted (IVW), simple mode, weighted mode, maximum likelihood, penalized weighted median, and IVW(fixed effects) were used to perform the MR analysis. The heterogeneity was detected by Cochran's Q statistic. The horizontal pleiotropy was detected by MR Egger. The sensitivity was investigated by the leave-one-out analysis.
RESULTS
Insomnia (OR = 2.02, 95%CI = 1.34-3.03, = 0.001, False-discovery rate (FDR) corrected -value = 0.011) and napping during the day (OR = 1.81, 95%CI = 1.34-2.44, FDR corrected -value<0.001) were associated with an increased risk of MDD. Longer sleep duration (OR = 2.20, 95%CI = 1.24-3.90, FDR corrected -value = 0.049) had an association with the increased risk of schizophrenia, while daytime dozing (OR = 4.44, 95%CI = 1.20-16.41, corrected -value = 0.088)and napping during the day (OR = 2.11, 95%CI = 1.11-4.02, FDR corrected -value = 0.088) had a suggestive association with an increased risk of schizophrenia. Longer sleep duration had a suggestive association with a decreased risk of ADHD (OR = 0.66, 95%CI = 0.42-0.93, FDR corrected -value = 0.088).
CONCLUSION
This study provides further evidence for a complex relationship between sleep and psychiatric disorders. Our findings highlight the potential benefits of addressing sleep problems in the prevention of psychiatric disorders.

PURPOSE
This study aims to investigate the status of family functioning and dissatisfaction of family function from the perception of adolescents with affective disorders and explore associated factors.
METHODS
This was a multicentric cross-sectional study conducted from April 2022 to February 2023. Adolescents with affective disorders were surveyed in representative samples drawn from three hospitals in Sichuan province, China. Data were obtained from 235 participants regarding their demographic characteristics, family characteristics, disease-related characteristics, and family functioning.
RESULTS
The study found family functioning and its' dissatisfaction both lower than national norms from the perspectives of adolescents. Younger age, single-parent family, and reconstituted family were predictors of not close of cohesion. Younger age, lower educational level of father, and reconstituted family were associated with less change of flexibility. Less times of hospitalizations, higher educational level of father, stem family were more satisfy with cohesion. Higher educational level of father, and stem family were also associated with greater satisfaction with flexibility.
CONCLUSION
The study demonstrated that the family function of adolescents of affective disorders was poor, more attention should be paid to it. Age, family structure, number of hospitalizations and the educational level of father were influencing factors of family functioning. Therefore, it is important for medical worker to assess demographic and family characteristics of adolescents with affective disorders. Younger children, children of reconstituted family and single-parent family, children with repeated hospitalizations and fathers of lower level of education should be given emphasized in implementation of interventions. Based on the evaluation results, personalized family therapy has been proved to be an affective measure and could be used in clinical work.

Demographic and clinical profile of adolescents suicide attempters admitted to an emergency department during the COVID-19 pandemic - a retrospective cohort study using hospital information system.
BACKGROUND
The prevalence of suicidal attempts among adolescents during COVID-19 significantly increased compared with pre-pandemic estimates. The aim of the study was to explore the demographic and clinical profile of adolescent suicide attempters admitted to the emergency department during the COVID-19 pandemic.
MATERIAL AND METHOD
The retrospective analysis included, on the basis of electronic medical records in the CliniNet system, sociodemographic and clinical data of patients aged 10-18 years with a diagnosis of suicide attempt. Follow-up period: from March 20, 2020 to May 16, 2023.
RESULTS
During the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 425 emergency department visits among adolescents aged 11-17 due to a suicide attempt, with the largest number in the 15-17 (69%) age range. The percentage of emergency department visits was higher among females (80%) and urban residents (75.3%). Self-poisoning was the most common cause of suicide attempts (52.4%), followed by self-harm (41.4%), hanging (3.2%) and jumping from a height (2.1%). The most common toxic substances in self-poisonings were antidepressants and antipsychotics, followed by paracetamol. About 70% of visits were associated with adolescent mental disorders, of which depressive disorder was the most common. One death per 425 visits was recorded (0.2%).
CONCLUSIONS
Adolescents attempting suicide during COVID-19 were most likely female, aged 15-17, city dwellers, undergoing psychiatric treatment mainly for depressive disorders. The mental health consequences of the pandemic may be more long term, and further monitoring will be needed in the years to come.

BACKGROUND
Humanistic nursing practices scientifically improve the knowledge structure of nursing, enrich its theoretical system and support its development. Therefore, it is crucial to evaluate the humanistic practice abilities of nurses.
OBJECTIVE
This study aimed to test the psycholinguistic features, language and construct validity of the Humanistic Practice Ability of Nursing Scale and to examine it according to nurses' demographic characteristics.
DESIGN AND METHODS
This study was a methodological type of analytical research conducted with 397 clinical nurses working in a hospital. A questionnaire including demographic information and evaluating empathy and compassion adequacy was used. Data were analyzed using explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, item-total score correlation, split-half analysis, t-test, analysis of variance and correlation analysis.
RESULTS
The scale consists of 29 items and four factors, explaining 61.15% of the total variance. Factor loads were > 0.30. confirmatory factor analysis results were χ2/df: 2.58, GFI: 0.86, TLI: 0.91, IFI: 0.92, CFI: 0.92, RMSEA: 0.06, and SRMR: 0.03. The Cronbach alpha value for the full scale is 0.95. A significant relationship was found between the scale and empathy and compassion proficiency. It was observed that the scale scores differed according to the nurses' education level, working years and job satisfaction (p < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
This study shows that the Turkish version of the HPAN scale is valid and reliable for 29 items and four factors. The humanistic practice ability of nurses differ according to postgraduate education, years of working in the profession and professional satisfaction.

BACKGROUND
Persistent olfactory dysfunction (OD) is a common symptom following SARS-CoV-2 infection that can greatly impact quality of life (QoL). Because coping strategies have been shown to moderate the effect of disease symptoms on functional and affective outcomes, this study aims to determine whether specific coping strategies are associated with and moderate QoL outcomes.
METHODOLOGY
Participants with prior SARS-CoV-2 infection underwent psychophysical olfactory testing with Sniffin' Sticks and completed questionnaires to elicit subjective olfactory function, coping strategies, olfactory-specific QoL, general QoL, and mental health.
RESULTS
There were 93 participants included in the study. Olfactory specific QoL scores were significantly worse among individuals with subjective and psychophysically measured OD compared to those with subjective and psychophysically confirmed normosmia. Olfactory-specific QoL, general QoL, and anxiety symptom scores were positively correlated with avoidant and disengagement coping among individuals with subjective and psychophysically measured OD. Depression symptom scores were positively correlated with avoidant and disengagement coping and negatively correlated with approach and engagement coping. There were no significant moderating effects on the association between olfactory performance and QoL or mental health screening assessment.
CONCLUSIONS
Approach and engagement coping mechanisms are associated with improved depression, whereas avoidant and disengagement coping tracks with worse QoL and mental health screening assessment, offering an opportunity to counsel patients accordingly.

BACKGROUND
In the contemporary healthcare environment, managing human resources expertise is just as imperative as having the supreme amount of working capital. Every business must constantly build its capacity, expertise, and competitive edge by utilizing its intellectual property and experience.
OBJECTIVE
This study aimed to assess the relationship between green intellectual capital and organizational competitive advantage among nurses.
METHODS
The study employed a descriptive correlational design among 350 nurses selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected from March 2023 to June 2023 using the Organizational Competitive Advantage Scale and the Green Intellectual Capital Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using -test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation.
RESULTS
Most nurses had a moderate level of green intellectual capital (Mean = 3.60, SD = 0.27). The overall mean score for organizational competitive advantage was moderate (Mean = 3.34, SD = 0.34). The overall score of the green intellectual capital ( = 0.257, <0.001) and its dimensions⎯green human capital ( = 0.257, <0.05), green structure capital ( = 0.257, <0.001), and green relational capital ( = 0.257, <0.001)⎯had significant positive correlations with organizational competitive advantage.
CONCLUSION
Being eco-friendly has become a determining factor in the organizational competitive advantage. The study highlights the significance of nursing management in establishing partnerships with external entities to share knowledge and advance sustainable healthcare methods. It advocates for assessing organizational environmental performance and its influence on competitive edge through creating metrics, monitoring progress, and utilizing data for decision-making. Healthcare and nurse administrators are advised to set performance benchmarks, track advancements, and integrate eco-friendly strategies to bolster the hospital's competitiveness in the market.
