Hemifacial Spasm Caused by Vascular Compression of the Anterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery-Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery Common Trunk Anomaly at the Cisternal Portion of the Facial Nerve: A Case Report.
W report the first case of hemifacial spasm (HFS) caused by vascular compression of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA)-posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) common trunk anomaly at the cisternal portion of cranial nerve VII (CN VII). A 71-year-old female with a typical right HFS was admitted to our hospital. As per her magnetic resonance (MR) imaging results, no offending arteries were noted around the CN VII root exit zone (REZ). Computed tomography angiography revealed an AICA-PICA common trunk anomaly with a dominant PICA, with the rostral branch of the AICA-PICA common trunk anomaly compressing the CN VII at the cisternal portion. The patient underwent microvascular decompression (MVD), and the HFS disappeared after surgery. The amplitude of the abnormal muscle responses (AMR) disappeared immediately after complete transposition of the offending artery. However, the patient experienced mild transient facial palsy 3 days after MVD which was eventually resolved with the administration of vitamin B12. No HFS recurrence was observed during the 1-year follow-up period. The AICA-PICA common trunk anomaly has been found to cause HFS as it compressed the CN VII at the cisternal portion, and not at the REZ. AMR monitoring might be helpful for cases where the unusual vessel particularly compresses the CN VII.

BACKGROUND
The localization of lung nodules is challenging during thoracoscopy. In this study, we evaluated the use of three-dimensional (3D) lung reconstruction for use in the operating room to guide the identification of lung nodules during thoracoscopy.
METHODS
This was a single-center retrospective study. All consecutive patients undergoing thoracoscopic resection of lung nodules were included in the study. Patients were retrospectively divided into two groups based upon whether the thoracoscopic resection was performed with the assistance (3D group) or not (standard group) of 3D lung reconstruction. The operative time (minutes) to detect lung nodules was statistically compared between the two study groups in relation to the characteristics of lung nodules as size, localization, and distance from the visceral pleura.
RESULTS
Our study population consisted of 170 patients: 85 in the 3D group and 85 in the standard group. No intergroup difference differences were found regarding the characteristics and histological diagnosis of lesions. The standard group compared to the 3D group was associated with a significantly longer operative time for the detection of lesions <10 mm (13.87 ± 2.59 vs. 5.52 ± 1.01, p < 0.001), lesions between 10 and 20 mm (5.05 ± 0.84 vs. 3.89 ± 0.92; p = 0.03), lesions localized in complex segments (7.49 ± 4.25 vs. 5.11 ± 0.97; p < 0.001), and deep lesions (9.58 ± 4.82 vs. 5.4 ± 1.01, p < 0.001).
CONCLUSIONS
Our 3D lung reconstruction model for use in the operating room may be an additional tool for thoracic surgeons to guide the detection of small and deep nodules during thoracoscopy. It is a noninvasive and cost saving procedure and may be widely used.

OBJECTIVE
Flow diverter stents (FDSs) have attracted interest for intracranial aneurysm (IA) treatment; however, occlusion of side branches and related complications have been reported. This study aimed to investigate the effects of FDSs in IA management when different branches of intracranial arteries are covered.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
A cross-sectional study was conducted using PUBMED, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases to include randomized or nonrandomized comparative-designed studies from January 2000 to August 2022 which reported outcomes of occlusion/narrowing of branches after IA treatment using FDSs. The PRISMA guidelines were used for our report. A random-effects meta-analysis was conducted to pool the outcomes, which included incidence rates of occlusion/narrowing of FDS-covered branches, branch occlusion-related symptoms, obliteration of IAs, and ideal clinical outcomes (modified Rankin Scale score ≤2).
RESULTS
The authors identified 57 studies involving 3789 patients with IA managed by FDSs covering different branches. During the median imaging follow-up at 12 months, the IA obliteration rate was satisfactory (>70%) when covering the ophthalmic artery (OA), posterior communicating artery (PComA), anterior choroidal artery (AChoA) or anterior cerebral artery (ACA), but not the middle cerebral artery-M2 segment (MCA-M2; 69.5%; 95% CI: 60.8-77.5%) and posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA; 59.1%, 13/22). The overall ideal clinical outcome was observed in 97.4% of patients (95% CI: 95.5-98.9%). Higher rates of occlusion/narrowing of branches were identified when FDSs covered the ACA (66.6%; 95% CI: 45.1-85.3%), PComA (44.3%; 95% CI: 34.2-54.6%), or MCA-M2 (39.2%; 95% CI: 24.5-54.7%); the risks were lower when covering the OA (11.8%; 95% CI: 8.8-15.1%), PICA (6.8%; 95% CI: 1.5-14.5%), and AchoA (0.5%; 95% CI: 0.0-2.9%). The risk of branch occlusion-related complications was low (incidence rate <5%) for each of the six evaluated branches.
CONCLUSIONS
Acceptable outcomes were identified following treatment of IAs when FDSs were placed across each of the six studied cerebral arteries. Treatment decisions regarding FDS placement across branch arteries should be made with the risk of complications from branch occlusion in mind.

The emergence of synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists (SCRAs) as illicit psychoactive substances has posed considerable public health risks, including fatalities. Many SCRAs exhibit much higher efficacy and potency compared with the phytocannabinoid Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) at the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1R), leading to dramatic differences in signaling levels that can be toxic. In this study, we investigated the structure-activity relationships of aminoalkylindole SCRAs at CB1Rs, focusing on 5F-pentylindoles containing an amide linker attached to different head moieties. Using in vitro bioluminescence resonance energy transfer assays, we identified a few SCRAs exhibiting significantly higher efficacy in engaging the G protein and recruiting β-arrestin than the reference CB1R full agonist CP55940. Importantly, the extra methyl group on the head moiety of 5F-MDMB-PICA, as compared to that of 5F-MMB-PICA, led to a large increase in efficacy and potency at the CB1R. This pharmacological observation was supported by the functional effects of these SCRAs on glutamate field potentials recorded in hippocampal slices. Molecular modeling and simulations of the CB1R models bound with both of the SCRAs revealed critical structural determinants contributing to the higher efficacy of 5F-MDMB-PICA and how these subtle differences propagated to the receptor-G protein interface. Thus, we find that apparently minor structural changes in the head moiety of SCRAs can cause major changes in efficacy. Our results highlight the need for close monitoring of the structural modifications of newly emerging SCRAs and their potential for toxic drug responses in humans.

An amplitude analysis of B^{0}→J/ψϕK_{S}^{0} decays is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. Evidence with a significance of 4.0 standard deviations of a structure in the J/ψK_{S}^{0} system, named T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000)^{0}, is seen, with its mass and width measured to be 3991_{-10}^{+12} _{-17}^{+9} MeV/c^{2} and 105_{-25}^{+29} _{-23}^{+17} MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000)^{0} state is likely to be the isospin partner of the T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000)^{+} state, previously observed in the J/ψK^{+} system of the B^{+}→J/ψϕK^{+} decay. When isospin symmetry for the charged and neutral T_{ψs1}^{θ}(4000) states is assumed, the signal significance increases to 5.4 standard deviations.

Two new excited states, Ω_{c}(3185)^{0} and Ω_{c}(3327)^{0}, are observed in the Ξ_{c}^{+}K^{-} invariant-mass spectrum using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. Five previously observed excited Ω_{c}^{0} states are confirmed, namely Ω_{c}(3000)^{0}, Ω_{c}(3050)^{0}, Ω_{c}(3065)^{0}, Ω_{c}(3090)^{0}, and Ω_{c}(3119)^{0}. The masses and widths of these seven states are measured with the highest precision to date.

OBJECTIVE
To evaluate diagnostic image quality of ultra-high-resolution computed tomography angiography (UHR-CTA) in neurovascular imaging as compared to normal resolution CT-angiography (NR-CTA).
MATERIAL AND METHODS
In this retrospective single-center study brain and neck CT-angiography was performed using an ultra-high-resolution computed tomography scanner (n = 82) or a normal resolution CT scanner (NR-CTA; n = 73). Ultra-high-resolution images were reconstructed with a 1024 × 1024 matrix and a slice thickness of 0.25 mm, whereas NR-CT images were reconstructed with a 512 × 512 matrix and a slice thickness of 0.5 mm. Three blinded neuroradiologists assessed overall image quality, artifacts, image noise, overall contrast and diagnostic confidence using a 4-point Likert scale. Furthermore, the visualization and delineation of supra-aortic arteries with an emphasis on the visualization of small intracerebral vessels was assessed using a cerebral vascular score, also utilizing a 4-point Likert scale. Quantitative analyses included signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), noise and the steepness of gray value transition. Radiation exposure was determined by comparison of computed tomography dose index (CTDIvol), dose length product (DLP) and mean effective dose. Interrater agreement was evaluated via determining Fleiss-Kappa.
RESULTS
Ultra-high-resolution CT-angiography (UHR-CTA) yielded excellent image quality with superior quantitative (SNR: p < 0.001, CNR: p < 0.001, steepness of gray value transition: p < 0.001) and qualitative results (overall image quality: 4 (Inter quartile range (IQR) = 4-4); p < 0.001, diagnostic confidence: 4 (IQR = 4-4); p < 0.001) compared to NR-CT (overall image quality: 3 (IQR = 3-3), diagnostic confidence: 3 (IQR = 3-4)). Furthermore, UHR-CT enabled significantly superior delineation and visualization of all vascular segments, from proximal extracranial vessels to the smallest peripheral cerebral branches (e.g.

Noteworthy, a reduced mean effective dose was observed when applying UHR-CT (NR-CTA: 1.8 ± 0.3 mSv; UHR-CTA: 1.5 ± 0.5 mSv; p < 0.001).
CONCLUSION
Ultra-high-resolution CT-angiography improves image quality in neurovascular imaging allowing the depiction and evaluation of small peripheral cerebral arteries. It may thus improve the detection of pathologies in small cerebrovascular lesions and the resulting diagnosis.

OBJECTIVE
The aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with those of elder adult patients treated with proton therapy (PT) for uveal melanoma (UM).
MATERIAL AND METHODS
A retrospective, comparative study was conducted in UM patients who underwent PT at the Ocular Oncology Unit of the Jules-Gonin Eye Hospital (University of Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland) and the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI); (Villigen, Switzerland) between January 1997 and December 2007. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to select for each AYA (between 15-39 years old) an elder adult patient (≥40 years) with similar characteristics. We assessed ocular follow-up, local tumor control, metastasis incidence, and overall and relative survival (OS and RS). Non-terminal outcomes were then compared between the two groups using competing risk survival analysis.
RESULTS
Out of a total of 2261 consecutive UM patients, after excluding 4 children (<15 years) and 6 patients who were metastatic at presentation, we identified 272 AYA patients and matched 270 of them with 270 elder adult patients. Before PSM, the AYA patients had a higher incidence of primary iris melanoma (4.0% vs. 1.4%; = 0.005), while the elder patients were more likely to have other neoplastic diseases at presentation (9% vs. 3.7%; = 0.004). Ocular outcomes and local tumor control were similar in both groups. Cumulative metastasis incidence for the AYA and elder adult groups was 13% and 7.9% at 5 years and 19.7% and 12.7% at 10 years, respectively, which was not significantly different between the groups ( = 0.214). The OS was similar in the two groups ( = 0.602), with estimates in the AYA and elder adult groups of 95.5% and 96.6% at 5 years and 94.6% and 91.4% at 10 years, respectively. However, the relative survival (RS) estimation was worse in the AYA group than the elder group ( = 0.036).
CONCLUSION
While AYAs treated with PT for UM have similar ocular outcomes and present the same metastasis incidence and OS as elder adults, their RS is worse than that in elder adults, when compared with the population in general.

Quality of Life, Clinical, and Patient-Reported Outcomes after Pencil Beam Scanning Proton Therapy Delivered for Intracranial Grade WHO 1-2 Meningioma in Children and Adolescents.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this study was to report the clinical and patient-reported outcomes of children and adolescents with intracranial meningioma treated with pencil beam scanning proton therapy (PBS-PT).
MATERIAL AND METHODS
Out of a total cohort of 207 intracranial meningioma patients treated with PBS-PT between 1999 and 2022, 10 (4.8%) were children or adolescents aged < 18 years. Median age was 13.9 years (range, 3.2-17.2). Six (60%) children were treated as primary treatment (postoperative PT, n = 4; exclusive PT, n = 2) and four (40%) at the time of tumor recurrence. Acute and late toxicities were registered according to Common Terminology Criteria of Adverse Events (CTCAE). Quality of life (QoL) before PBS-PT was assessed using PEDQOL questionnaires. Educational, functional, and social aspects after PT were assessed through our in-house developed follow-up surveys. Median follow-up time was 71.1 months (range, 2.5-249.7), and median time to last questionnaire available was 37.6 months (range, 5.75-112.6).
RESULTS
Five (50%) children developed local failure (LF) at a median time of 32.4 months (range, 17.7-55.4) after PBS-PT and four (80%) were considered in-field. One patient died of T-cell lymphoma 127.1 months after PBS-PT. Estimated 5-year local control (LC) and overall survival (OS) rates were 19.4% and 100.0%, respectively. Except for one patient who developed a cataract requiring surgery, no grade ≥3 late toxicities were reported. Before PT, patients rated their QoL lower than their parents in most domains. During the first year after PT, one child required educational support, one needed to attend to a special school, one had social problems and another three children required assistance for daily basic activities (DBA). Three years after PT, only one child required assistance for DBA.
CONCLUSIONS
The outcome of children with intracranial meningioma treated with PBS-PT is in line with other centers who have reported results of radiation therapy delivered to this particular patient group. This therapy provides acceptable functional status profiles with no high-grade adverse radiation-induced events.

The production of prompt D^{0} mesons in proton-lead collisions in both the forward and backward rapidity regions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment. The nuclear modification factor of prompt D^{0} mesons is determined as a function of the transverse momentum p_{T}, and the rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass frame y^{*}. In the forward rapidity region, significantly suppressed production with respect to pp collisions is measured, which provides significant constraints on models of nuclear parton distributions and hadron production down to the very low Bjorken-x region of ∼10^{-5}. In the backward rapidity region, a suppression with a significance of 2.0-3.8 standard deviations compared to parton distribution functions in a nuclear environment expectations is found in the kinematic region of p_{T}>6 GeV/c and -3.25
