BACKGROUND
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, a common sexually transmitted disease, is associated with cancers of the cervix, vulva, vagina, penis, anus, and head and neck. Oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC; throat cancer) is a type of cancer involving the head and neck area that is rapidly increasing across the globe. There are higher rates of OPSCC among Indigenous populations relative to non-Indigenous Australian populations, although the HPV-attributable fraction remains unknown. For the first time at a global level, we plan to extend an Indigenous Australian adult cohort to monitor, screen, and ultimately prevent HPV-associated OPSCC and to undertake extensive cost-effectiveness modelling around HPV vaccination.
OBJECTIVE
This study aims to (1) extend follow-up to a minimum of 7 years post recruitment to describe the prevalence, incidence, clearance, and persistence of oral HPV infection; and (2) conduct clinical examinations of the head and neck, oral cavity, and oropharynx and collect saliva samples for early-stage OPSCC testing.
METHODS
We will continue to implement a longitudinal design for the next study phase, where we will ascertain the prevalence, incidence, clearance, and persistence of oral HPV infection at 48, 60, and 72 months; undertake clinical examinations/saliva assessments to detect early-stage OPSCC; and refer for treatment. The primary outcome measures are changes in oral HPV infection status, biomarker measures of early HPV-related cancer, and clinical evidence of early-stage OPSCC.
RESULTS
Participant 48-month follow-up will commence in January 2023. The first results are expected to be submitted for publication 1 year after 48-month follow-up begins.
CONCLUSIONS
Our findings have potential to change the way in which OPSCC among Australian Indigenous adults is managed, with desired impacts including cost-savings on expensive cancer treatments; improved nutritional, social, and emotional outcomes; and improved quality of life for both Indigenous adults and the Indigenous community more broadly. Continuing a large, representative Indigenous adult cohort to track oral HPV infection and monitor early OPSCC is essential to yield critical information to include in the management armamentarium of health and well-being recommendations for Australia's First Nations.

It is essential to estimate the efficacy of common commercially available anthelmintics against parasite. Here, we standardized an culture platform for and evaluated the efficacy of commonly used anthelmintics namely, albendazole (ABZ), levamisole (LVM), ivermectin (IVM), closantel (CLS) and rafoxanide (RFX). Adult worms were collected from abomasa of slaughtered animals, cultured in MEM, DMEM, M199 or RPMI with or without 20% FBS for up to 72 h. Cultured worms were incubated with ABZ, LVM, IVM, RFX or CLS in DMEM supplemented with 20% FBS at different concentrations (0.5-50 µg/ml) in triplicates and examined at 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 36 and 48 h post treatment. Of the culture conditions, DMEM supplemented with 20% FBS supported the survival of for ( < 0.001) longer period of time which was used in the evaluation of anthelmintics. The efficacy of CLS and RFX were significantly ( < 0.001) higher than other drugs and 100% mortality was observed at 2 µg/ml of CLS and RFX within 12 h post treatment. However, ABZ, LVM, and IVM showed significant effect at the concentration of 50 µg/ml with 48, 36, and 24 h, respectively. Morphological changes included severe cuticle disruption around the buccal cavity, posterior region and vulva as well as loss of cuticle structure integrity coupled with expulsion and fragmentation of digestive components of parasites when treated with 50 µg/ml of ABZ, LVM, and IVM and 2 µg/ml of RFX and CLS. Collectively, DMEM supplemented with 20% FBS can be used as culture platform for maintenance of , and RFX and CLS can be used as the promising drugs for the prevention, control and treatment of infections.

BACKGROUND
Human papillomavirus associated anogenital cancers are a significant global burden. The detection of biomarkers (circulating tumour DNA; ctDNA or circulating HPV DNA; cHPV DNA) in blood referred to as "liquid biopsy" may support the early diagnosis and monitoring of affected individuals.
METHODS
A systematic review, including meta-analysis of studies available in the literature on the utilization of ctDNA and cHPV DNA as diagnostic, predictive, and monitoring biomarker tests of HPV associated anogenital cancers was performed following the criteria of PRISMA.
RESULTS
A total of 31 studies were eligible for systematic review; 20 used cHPV DNA in cervical cancers; 7 used ctDNA in cervical cancer; 5 used cHPV DNA in anal cancer; no eligible studies on vulva, vaginal or penile cancer were available. The meta-analysis identified low sensitivity (0.36) and high specificity (0.96) of cHPV DNA as diagnostic for cervical cancer. Comparatively, there was high sensitivity (0.95) and specificity (1.0) of cHPV DNA for the diagnosis of anal cancer. cHPV DNA and/or ctDNA in cervical cancer were prognostic markers associated with poor clinical outcomes. Additionally, in anal cancer the post treatment detection of cHPV DNA was informative in the prediction of treatment response or progression-free survival.
CONCLUSION
ctDNA and cHPV DNA are promising diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for the detection of anogenital disease. Evolution and refinement of molecular tools is likely to improve performance further. Additionally the comparative absence of studies in the vulval, vaginal and penile context warrants further exploration and research.

Corn (), one of the major food sources it contains rich in fiber and many vitamins, is one of the most widely consumed cereal grains in Republic of Korea. A survey of plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) was carried out in corn fields in Goesan, Republic of Korea from August in 2021. PPNs were extracted from the corn roots and soil using modified Baermann funnel methods and were identified using morphological and molecular analyses. Among the roots and soil samples of 21 fields, 5 fields (23.8%) were infected with stunt nematodes. was originally described in India from soil around corn and is reported to dwarf plants, yellow leaves (Sethi and Swarup, 1968). Morphologically, characteristics of females were very similar to with cylindrical body and slightly ventrally arcuated after fixation. Lip region slightly offset from body with four annuli. Stylet with anteriorly flattened knobs, the vulva was located in the center of the body, didelphic-amphidelphic reproductive system and tail conoid, tail terminus with obtuse smooth, with four incisures areolated throughout body. Bodies of males were similar to females but with shaper tails, with relatively strong bursa and spicules (Fig. S1). The morphology of Korean populations was in agreement with the described populations of India and China (Alvani et al., 2017; Xu et al., 2020). Measurements and micrographs with the light-microscope (DM5000; Leica[Germany]) and camera (DFC450; Leica[Germany]) were taken from females (n=10) for mean, standard deviation and range of body length: 553.2 ± 41.2 (492.7-643.6) µm, maximum body width: 19.4 ± 1.0 (17.6-21.0) µm, stylet length: 18.1 ± 0.4 (17.5-18.7) µm, percent of distance from anterior end to vulva / body length: 58.5 ± 1.3 (56.1-60.9), tail length: 31.7 ± 1.2 (30.3-34.0) µm, and distance of anterior to excretory pore: 96.5 ± 1.8 (94.1-99.4) µm. In addition, PCR was performed for the 28S rDNA D2-D3 segments using the primers D2A and D3B, and ITS region with the primers TW81 and AB28. The newly obtained sequences were submitted to GenBank database under accession numbers ON909086, ON909087 and ON909088 of 28S rDNA D2-D3 segments, and ON909123, ON909124 and ON909125 of ITS region. The resulting 28S rDNA D2-D3 segment sequences were 100% identical to KJ461565 and the BLASTn search of the ITS region sequences was most similar to (KJ461599), which is the species isolated from corn in Spain. The identities of ITS region sequences on these populations were 99.89% (893/894), with no insertions/deletions. The phylogenetic relationships of the population strongly support (Fig. S2). Phylogenetic relation analysis based on the two genes was constructed using PAUP version 4.0 and MrBayes 3.1.2 programs. To confirm pathogenicity, a modified version of Koch's postulates was conducted in the greenhouse by inoculating 100 females and males onto each of five pots of seedling corn (cv. Daehakchal) filled with the sterilized sandy soil and maintained for 60 days at 25℃ under the conditions. reproduction factor was 2.21 ± 0.37 was observed at the end of the trial in soil on pots. The stunted and swollen roots and dwarfed and yellowing leaf shoots symptoms in the greenhouse pots trial were confirmed the same as those typical damage symptoms. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of in Republic of Korea. The host range of includes some economic crops such as cabbage, cauliflower, grapevine, and olive (Chen at al., 2007; Handoo et al., 2014). It is necessary to investigate the damage to economic crops in the Republic of Korea to this nematode.

The spatial distribution of these fungi in the female genital tract remains poorly understood. In this study, swab samples were collected from 33 patients, first from the anterior vulva and then from the upper third and right lateral wall of the vagina: 16 were with symptoms of vulvovaginal candidiasis and 17 were without characteristic symptoms; furthermore, the genus and species of each isolate were identified. In vitro susceptibility testing for fluconazole and clotrimazole was performed for all isolates. was the most common species (63.6%), followed by spp. (51.5%), and then (15.2%). spp. and were more commonly associated with colonization, and with infection. spp. isolates presented a low susceptibility to fluconazole, with the MIC ranging from 32 to >64 µg/mL. Differences in susceptibility to fluconazole and clotrimazole between the pairs of vaginal and vulvar isolates were found for , spp., and . The results suggest that different niches may impact the susceptibility profiles of the isolates, as well as their different clinical behaviors.

(), a major mastitis pathogen in dairy goats, is classified as a contagious pathogen. Although previous research has shown that extramammary body sites can be colonized with , it is unknown whether these sites are reservoirs for intramammary infections. The aim of this research was to determine whether extramammary sites can be colonized with mastitis-associated strains in dairy goats. Milk samples were collected from 207 primiparous goats and from 120 of these goats, extramammary site samples (hock, groin, nares, vulva and udder) were collected from a large commercial dairy goat herd in the Netherlands during four sampling visits. Extramammary site swabs and milk samples were (selectively) cultured and isolates were genotyped. The prevalence of colonization of the extramammary sites at goat level was 51.7% and the prevalence of intramammary infections was 7.2%. The nares were colonized most frequently (45%), while the groin area was colonized the least (2.5%). Six genotypes were identified in this herd and there was no significant difference in the distribution of genotypes between the milk or the extramammary sites ( = 0.141). Both in the extramammary sites and in the milk, genotypes t544 (82.3% and 53.3%) and t1236 (22.6% and 33.3%) were the dominant genotypes. These results show that in goats, extramammary sites, particularly the nares, are frequently colonized with mastitis-associated strains. Extramammary sites may, thus, be a source of intramammary infections that are not targeted by the intervention measures aimed at preventing transmission from infected udder glands.

BACKGROUND
Genital myiasis in females is a parasitic infection of the vulval region with the larva of various files species. Only a few cases of urogenital myiasis have been reported in the literature.
CASE PRESENTATION
We present a case of 55 years postmenopausal, farmer female otherwise healthy presenting to the outpatient department with complaints of maggots and severe itching in the vulval region. Examination revealed erythema in the labia major and groin without lymphadenopathy. In the vaginal examination; inflammation and a large number of maggots were observed in the urethral meatus, labia minora, and vaginal canal, progressing to the cervix. With this, she was diagnosed to be a case of urogenital myiasis. She was managed with the extraction of maggots using turpentine oil, along with broad-spectrum antibiotics and Foleys catheterization for a week. Later during follow up, she was asymptomatic and examination revealed no maggots, and the lesions were healed.
CLINICAL DISCUSSION
Extraction of maggots along with symptomatic management is the mainstay of treatment of myiasis. A significant number of the adult population in the rural areas of developing countries are illiterate and are not familiarized with education regarding genital hygiene. So, along with physicians, policy makers should also be involved in public awareness for genital hygiene.
CONCLUSION
Despite being rare, urogenital myiasis is preventable and treatable condition. Efforts at increasing genital hygiene awareness in a low resource country are utmost for its prevention.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE
Ureterocele is a congenital malformation of the ureter with dilatation in the distal part of the ureter. In most cases, this condition was present in childhood. In cases involving adults, this condition is associated with prolapse as well as the formation of stones. Prolapsed ureterocele with stone is considered to be a very rare case. We report a complex case of prolapsed ureterocele in a young female with a protruding mass in the vagina with complete pyeloureteral duplication and stone in the left ureterovesical junction.
CASE PRESENTATION
A 19-year-old female presented to the hospital with a complaint of protruding mass in the vagina. A Computed Tomography (CT) scan and Intravenous Urography (IVU) confirmed the presence of a left ureterocele with a complete duplex system and stone in the ureterovesical junction. An endoscopic resection of the ureterocele was performed. One year following surgery, the patient was asymptomatic without deterioration of renal function or urinary tract infection.
DISCUSSION
Prolapsed ureterocele in adulthood mimicking the clinical appearance of vulvar mass is considered a very rare case. The imaging examination in this case can be identified through CT-Scan. Surgical treatment of ureterocele consisted of incision, multiple punctures, unroofing, or resection. Considering the complex presentation in this case, we decided to undergo endoscopic resection to prevent the incidence of re-prolapsed which later required a second procedure.
CONCLUSION
In cases of prolapsed ureterocele associated with urethral stones, endoscopic treatment is a viable option for reducing the risk of recurrent ureterocele prolapse.

Heterodera zeae Koshy, Swarup & Sethi, 1971 (corn cyst nematode) is an important disease of corn in several areas of the world, including India, Nepal, Pakistan, Egypt, USA, Greece and Portugal (Subbotin et al., 2010). It is a sedentary semi-endoparasite feeding on corn roots and other Poaceae plants and has been associated with significant yield losses in corn (Subbotin et al., 2010). During autumn 2022 a plant-parasitic nematode survey performed in corn at central-western area of Spain (Talavera de la Reina, Toledo), revealed a commercial field with stunted plants. Nematodes were extracted from soil by centrifugal-flotation method (Coolen, 1979). Corn roots inspection detected infections by immature and mature cysts, and soil revealed also mature live cysts and second-stage juveniles (J2s) with a population density of 1010 eggs and J2s/500 cm3 soil (including eggs from cysts). J2s and cysts were processed to pure glycerine using De Grisse's (1969) method. DNA was isolated from single live fresh J2s specimens for amplifying and sequencing of cytochrome c oxidase subunit II (COII) mitochondrial region using the primer pair species-specific H.Gly-COIIF_inFOR/P116F-1R (Riepsamen et al., 2011); D2 and D3 expansion domains of the 28S rRNA were amplified using the D2A/D3B primers (De Ley et al. 1999); internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region using primers TW81/AB28 (Subbotin et al., 2001); and cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (COI) gene was amplified using the primers JB3/JB5 (Bowles et al., 1992). Brown cysts were lemon-shaped with a protruding vulval cone with fenestra ambifenestrate, bullae prominent below underbridge and characteristically arranged in finger-like bullae (Fig. 1). J2 with slightly offset lip region (3-5 annuli), stylet strong with rounded stylet knobs, lateral field with four lines, and tail short and tapering conically. Measurements of cysts (n=10) included body length 559 (432-688) µm, body width 450 (340-522) µm, fenestral length 40 (36-43) µm, semifenestral width 19 (17-21) µm, and vulval slit 40 (35-44) µm. J2 measurements (n=10) included body length 477 (420-536) µm, stylet length 21 (20-22) µm, tail length 51 (47-56) µm, and tail hyaline region 23 (20-26) µm. Morphology and morphometrics of cysts and J2, fit with original description and others from several countries (Subbotin et al., 2010). Two J2s individuals were sequenced for COII region (OQ509010-OQ509011) showing 97.1-98.1% similarity with H. zeae from USA (HM462012). Six almost identical 28S rRNA sequences from J2s (OQ449649-OQ449654) were 99.2-99.4% similar to 28S rRNA sequences of H. zeae from Greece, Afghanistan and USA (GU145612, JN583885, DQ328695). Four identical ITS DNA fragments from J2s (OQ449655-OQ449658) were 97.0-97.8% similar to ITS sequences of H. zeae from Greece, and China (GU145616, MW785771, OP692770). Finally, six COI sequences of 400 bp obtained for J2s (OQ449699-OQ449704) were under 87% similarity to several COI sequences of Heterodera spp. in NCBI, being a new molecular barcoding for identifying this species. On the basis of these results, the cyst nematodes isolated from the corn plants from the central-western area of Spain (Talavera de la Reina, Toledo) were confirmed as H. zeae and up to our knowledge it is the first report in Spain. This is a well-known pest of corn, causing important losses in this crop (Subbotin et al., 2010) and it was previously regulated as a quarantine nematode in the Mediterranean region (EPPO).
