This systematic review aimed to investigate the epidemiological data about meteorological factors and climate change (CC) impact on asthma. A search was performed using three databases (Web of Science, Science Direct, and MEDLINE) for all relevant studies published from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2022. This systematic review complied with the PRISMA document's requirements, including studies related to meteorological factors and CC impact on asthma. The search included studies published in English or French language, and was based on title, abstract, and complete text. Documents not meeting inclusion requirements were excluded. We identified 18 studies published in the last five years that were eligible for inclusion in this review. We found that these studies concerned European, Asian, American, and Oceanic cities. Extreme variations in temperature, humidity, wind speed, exceptional incidents like hurricanes, cold and heat waves, and seasonal shifts were strongly correlated with the worsening of asthmatic symptoms, particularly in childhood. In addition, excessive concentrations of air pollutants and aeroallergens were linked to pediatric asthma emergency hospital admissions. A significant association between the consequences of CC and asthma in adults particularly in children has been demonstrated. Future research should quantify the impact of global change in climate regarding the aeroallergens' distribution in terms of geography and time. It is also necessary to research the impact of air pollution on asthmatic health, like sulfur dioxide (SO), nitrogen dioxide (NO), ozone (O), and particles having an aerodynamic diameter lower than 2.5 µm (PM).

OBJECTIVES
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of acute lower respiratory infection (ALRI) in young children. With substantial advances in RSV research, we aimed to conduct an updated systematic review of risk factors for RSV-ALRI in children under five years.
METHODS
We updated our previously published literature search to November 2022 among three English databases and additionally searched three Chinese databases (from January 1995) to identify all relevant publications. We performed random-effects meta-analyses to estimate the pooled odds ratio and 95% confidence interval (CI) for each risk factor and each outcome (RSV-ALRI in the community and RSV-ALRI hospitalisation).
RESULTS
A total of 47 studies were included (26 from the updated search). Indoor air pollution was identified as a possible risk factor for RSV-ALRI in the community (OR 1.45, 95% CI: 1.10-1.90). The identified risk factors for RSV-ALRI hospitalisation fall into four categories: demographic (male sex, Māori and Pacific ethnicities vs European or other ethnicities), pre- and post- neonatal (prematurity, low birth weight, small for gestational age, maternal smoking during pregnancy or lactation, maternal age <30 years vs 30-34 years, multiparity, caesarean section vs vaginal), household and environmental (having siblings, passive smoking, maternal asthma, daycare centre attendance), and health and medical conditions (any chronic diseases, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, HIV infections, congenital heart disease, Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, previous asthma). The pooled ORs ranged from 1.14 to 4.55.
CONCLUSIONS
Our findings on the risk factors for RSV-ALRI help identify RSV high-risk groups, which has important implications for RSV prevention at both individual and population levels.

Indoor air quality (IAQ) in the built environment is significantly influenced by particulate matter, volatile organic compounds, and air temperature. Recently, the Internet of Things (IoT) has been integrated to improve IAQ and safeguard human health, comfort, and productivity. This review seeks to highlight the potential of IoT integration for monitoring IAQ. Additionally, the paper details progress by researchers in developing IoT/mobile applications for IAQ monitoring, and their transformative impact in smart building, healthcare, predictive maintenance, and real-time data analysis systems. It also outlines the persistent challenges (e.g., data privacy, security, and user acceptability), hampering effective IoT implementation for IAQ monitoring. Lastly, the global developments and research landscape on IoT for IAQ monitoring were examined through bibliometric analysis (BA) of 106 publications indexed in Web of Science from 2015 to 2022. BA revealed the most significant contributing countries are India and Portugal, while the top productive institutions and researchers are Instituto Politecnico da Guarda (10.37% of TP) and Marques Goncalo (15.09% of TP), respectively. Keyword analysis revealed four major research themes: IoT, pollution, monitoring, and health. Overall, this paper provides significant insights for identifying prospective collaborators, benchmark publications, strategic funding, and institutions for future IoT-IAQ researchers.

This review examined the efficacy of surface treatments and adhesive monomers for enhancing zirconia-resin bond strength. A comprehensive literature search in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library yielded relevant in vitro studies. Employing pairwise and Bayesian network meta-analyses, 77 articles meeting inclusion criteria were analyzed. Gas plasma was found to be ineffective, while treatments including air abrasion, silica coating, laser, selective infiltration etching, hot etching showed varied effectiveness. Air abrasion with finer particles (25-53 µm) showed higher immediate bond strength than larger particles (110-150 µm), with no significant difference post-aging. The Rocatec silica coating system outperformed the CoJet system in both immediate and long-term bond strength. Adhesives containing 10-methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate (10-MDP) were superior to other acidic monomers. The application of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and silane did not improve bonding performance. Notably, 91.2 % of bonds weakened after aging, but this effect was less pronounced with air abrasion or silica coating. The findings highlight the effectiveness of air abrasion, silica coating, selective infiltration etching, hot etching, and laser treatment in improving bond strength, with 10-MDP in bonding agents enhancing zirconia bonding efficacy.

Fluid resuscitation during diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is most frequently performed with 0.9% saline despite its high chloride and sodium concentration. Balanced Electrolyte Solutions (BES) may prove a more physiological alternative, but convincing evidence is missing. We aimed to compare the efficacy of 0.9% saline to BES in DKA management. MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases were searched for relevant studies using predefined keywords (from inception to 27 November 2021). Relevant studies were those in which 0.9% saline (Saline-group) was compared to BES (BES-group) in adults admitted with DKA. Two reviewers independently extracted data and assessed the risk of bias. The primary outcome was time to DKA resolution (defined by each study individually), while the main secondary outcomes were changes in laboratory values, duration of insulin infusion, and mortality. We included seven randomized controlled trials and three observational studies with 1006 participants. The primary outcome was reported for 316 patients, and we found that BES resolves DKA faster than 0.9% saline with a mean difference (MD) of -5.36 [95% CI: -10.46, -0.26] hours. Post-resuscitation chloride (MD: -4.26 [-6.97, -1.54] mmoL/L) and sodium (MD: -1.38 [-2.14, -0.62] mmoL/L) levels were significantly lower. In contrast, levels of post-resuscitation bicarbonate (MD: 1.82 [0.75, 2.89] mmoL/L) were significantly elevated in the BES-group compared to the Saline-group. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups regarding the duration of parenteral insulin administration (MD: 0.16 [-3.03, 3.35] hours) or mortality (OR: -0.67 [0.12, 3.68]). Studies showed some concern or a high risk of bias, and the level of evidence for most outcomes was low. This meta-analysis indicates that the use of BES resolves DKA faster than 0.9% saline. Therefore, DKA guidelines should consider BES instead of 0.9% saline as the first choice during fluid resuscitation.

Current evidence suggests that airborne pollutants have a detrimental effect on fetal growth through the emergence of small for gestational age (SGA) or term low birth weight (TLBW). The study's objective was to critically evaluate the available literature on the association between environmental pollution and the incidence of SGA or TLBW occurrence. A comprehensive literature search was conducted across Pubmed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and Google Scholar using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The methodology adhered to the PRISMA guidelines. The systematic review protocol was registered in PROSPERO with ID number: CRD42022329624. As a result, 69 selected papers described the influence of environmental pollutants on SGA and TLBW occurrence with an Odds Ratios (ORs) of 1.138 for particulate matter ≤ 10 μm (PM), 1.338 for particulate matter ≤ 2.5 μm (PM), 1.173 for ozone (O), 1.287 for sulfur dioxide (SO), and 1.226 for carbon monoxide (CO). All eight studies analyzed validated that exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is a risk factor for SGA or TLBW. Pregnant women in the high-risk group of SGA occurrence, i.e., those living in urban areas or close to sources of pollution, are at an increased risk of complications. Understanding the exact exposure time of pregnant women could help improve prenatal care and timely intervention for fetuses with SGA. Nevertheless, the pervasive air pollution underscored in our findings suggests a pressing need for adaptive measures in everyday life to mitigate worldwide environmental pollution.

BACKGROUND
Cadmium, a toxic heavy metal, experienced a surge in production during the 20th century due to the rise of nickel-cadmium batteries, metal plating, and plastic stabilizers. Exposure to cadmium primarily occurs through the consumption of contaminated food, such as vegetables and grains, as well as drinking water or inhaling polluted air. The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between cadmium exposure and the incidence of prostate cancer using a systematic review and meta-analysis approach.
METHODS
This research involved searching and retrieving observational and experimental studies conducted until May 2022 from various databases, including ISI Web of Science, Cochrane, Science Direct, Scopus, Pub-Med, and Google Scholar. Data analysis was performed using Stata 15 statistical software.
RESULTS
The initial search yielded 794 articles, which were subsequently reduced to 427 articles after eliminating duplicates. Following the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 16 studies were included in the meta-analysis. The odds ratio of prostate cancer compared to the first quartile of exposure in the second quartile was 1.03 (0.95-1.12), in the third quartile it was 1.12 (0.99-1.26) and in the fourth quartile of exposure was equal to 1.16 (0.79-1.70). Regarding the investigation of the probability of the occurrence of publication bias, the results of Begg's and Egger's tests were not statistically significant.
CONCLUSION
Although exposure to cadmium leads to an increase in the chance of prostate cancer, this chance increase was not statistically significant.

BACKGROUND
Although several risk factors of kidney cancer have already been well-addressed, many remain underappreciated, such as chronic exposure to air pollution. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to assess the association between air pollutant exposure and the risk of kidney cancer.
METHODS
With an exhaustive search equation including keywords related to air pollution and kidney cancer on EMBASE, PubMed, Web of science, Cochrane Library and CINAHL database, we identified all relevant articles published before March 23rd, 2023 (Prospero registration number: CRD42020187956). Using random-effects meta-analysis, we present pooled hazard ratios (with their respective 95% confidence interval) associated with a 10 µg/m increase in each pollutant level. Heterogeneity was quantified by the I statistic. Risks of methodological and publication bias were also both assessed using appropriate tools.
RESULTS
Of the 1919 records identified, our review included 19 articles (13 cohort, 5 registry-based and 1 case-control studies), of which 9 were suitable for the meta-analysis. We found a significantly increased risk of kidney cancer incidence for a 10 μg/m elevation of both particulate matter of less than 10 µm (PM) (HR = 1.29 [1.10; 1.51], I = 0%, p = 0.002) and nitrogen dioxide (NO) (HR = 1.10 [1.03; 1.18], I = 20%, p = 0.004). Secondary analyses also suggest an increased risk of kidney cancer-related morbidity-mortality associated with PM exposure.
CONCLUSIONS
Overall, our findings suggest a potential association between exposure to increased levels of PM and NO and the risk of kidney cancer. These results should nonetheless be interpreted with caution due to the limited number of included studies and their significant risk of methodological bias.

BACKGROUND
We aimed to verify the exposure to mercury in the air and its effect on cardiovascular disorders.
METHODS
The review was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and national databases (such as SID) from 1995-2022.
RESULTS
Mercury exposure can cause many disorders in humans, including neurodevelopmental disorders in fetuses and children, adverse cardiovascular outcomes, hypertension, and diabetes. Mercury is a human neurotoxin, and in recent years its potentially harmful effects on cardiovascular disease (CVD) have raised concerns, mainly due to mercury's role in reducing oxidative stress.
CONCLUSION
Possible mechanisms of mercury toxicity in CVD include mercury-selenium interaction, increased lipid peroxidation, and oxidative stress. In this article, we review studies that have investigated the relationship between mercury and CVD.
