BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
In most western countries, older adults depend on private cars for transportation and do not proactively plan for driving cessation. The objective of this review was to examine current research studies outlining effective interventions and strategies to assist older adults during their transition from driver to driving retirement or cessation.
RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS
A search was completed across 9 databases using key words and MeSH terms for drivers, cessation of driving, and older adult drivers. Eligibility screening of 9,807 titles and abstracts, followed by a detailed screening of 206 papers, was completed using the Covidence platform. Twelve papers were selected for full-text screen and data extraction, comprising 3 papers with evidence-based intervention programs and 9 papers with evidence-informed strategies.
RESULTS
Three papers met the research criteria of a controlled study for programs that support and facilitate driving cessation for older adults. Nine additional studies were exploratory or descriptive, which outlined strategies that could support older drivers, their families, and/or healthcare professionals during this transition. Driving retirement programs/toolkits are also presented.
DISCUSSION AND IMPLICATIONS
The driver retirement programs had promising results, but there were methodological weaknesses within the studies. Strategies extracted contributed to 6 themes: of the topic, is important, is critical, away from assessment to proactive planning, is needed, and should be the end result. Meeting the transportation needs of older adults will be essential to support aging in place, out-of-home mobility, and participation, particularly in developed countries where there is such a high dependency on private motor vehicles.

BACKGROUND
Conservative therapy is currently the elective treatment for peripheric facial palsy according to scientific literature. The success of conservative therapy is due to physiotherapy and the application of its methods. The aim of this systematic review was to assess mirror therapy, a physiotherapeutic method.
OBJECTIVES
The aim of the following systematic review is to evaluate the effectiveness of using mirror therapy in patients with peripheral paralysis of the seventh cranial nerve.
METHODS
This systematic review was conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The screening of literature was carried out on Cochrane, PEDro, PubMed/Medline, Scopus and Web of Science databases up until August 2022. All studies were randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 5 articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in this study. The risk of bias was evaluated with PEDro and Jadad scales.
DISCUSSION
In the present study, we reviewed 5 RCTs that compared mirror therapy with other physiotherapy treatments or placebo to reduce pain, depression and improve range of motion in patients with peripheric facial nerve palsy.
CONCLUSIONS
Further studies are needed to determine the effectiveness of this type of treatment, but nevertheless the data obtained are very encouraging.

INTRODUCTION
In the big data era, where corporations commodify health data, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) present a transformative avenue for patient empowerment and control. NFTs are unique digital assets on the blockchain, representing ownership of digital objects, including health data. By minting their data as NFTs, patients can track access, monetize its use, and build secure, private health information systems. However, research on NFTs in healthcare is in its infancy, warranting a comprehensive review.
METHODS
This study conducted a systematic literature review and thematic analysis of NFTs in healthcare to identify use cases, design models, and key challenges. Five multidisciplinary research databases (Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, IEEE Explore, Elsevier Science Direct) were searched. The approach involved four stages: paper collection, inclusion/exclusion criteria application, screening, full-text reading, and quality assessment. A classification and coding framework was employed. Thematic analysis followed six steps: data familiarization, initial code generation, theme searching, theme review, theme definition/naming, and report production.
RESULTS
Analysis of 19 selected papers revealed three primary use cases: patient-centric data management, supply chain management for data provenance, and digital twin development. Notably, most solutions were prototypes or frameworks without real-world implementations. Four overarching themes emerged: data governance (ownership, tracking, privacy), data monetization (commercialization, incentivization, sharing), data protection, and data storage. The focus lies on user-controlled, private, and secure health data solutions. Additionally, data commodification is explored, with mechanisms proposed to incentivize data maintenance and sharing. NFTs are also suggested for tracking medical products in supply chains, ensuring data integrity and provenance. Ethereum and similar platforms dominate NFT minting, while compact NFT storage options are being explored for faster data access.
CONCLUSION
NFTs offer significant potential for secure, traceable, decentralized healthcare data exchange systems. However, challenges exist, including dependence on blockchain, interoperability issues, and associated costs. The review identified research gaps, such as developing dual ownership models and data pricing strategies. Building an open standard for interoperability and adoption is crucial. The scalability, security, and privacy of NFT-backed healthcare applications require further investigation. Thus, this study proposes a research agenda for adopting NFTs in healthcare, focusing on governance, storage models, and perceptions.

BACKGROUND
Bipolar disorder (BD) is a mental disorder associated with increased morbidity/mortality. Adverse outcome prediction helps with the management of patients with BD.
METHODS
We systematically reviewed the performance of machine learning (ML) studies in predicting adverse outcomes (relapse or recurrence, hospital admission, and suicide-related events) in patients with BD. Demographic, clinical, and neuroimaging-related poor outcome predictors were also reviewed. Three databases (PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science) were explored from inception to July 2023.
RESULTS
Eighteen studies, accounting for >30,000 patients, were included. Support vector machine, decision trees, random forest, and logistic regression were the most frequently used ML algorithms. ML models' area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity ranged from 0.71 to 0.98, 72.7-92.8 %, and 59.0-95.2 % for relapse/recurrence prediction (5 studies (3 on relapses and 1 on recurrences). The corresponding values were 0.78-0.88, 21.4-100 %, and 77.0-99.7 % for hospital admissions (3 studies, 21,266 patients), and 0.71-0.99, 44.4-97.9 %, and 38.9-95.0 % for suicide-related events (10 studies, 5558 patients). Also, one study addressed a combination of the interest outcomes. Adverse outcome predictors included early onset BD, type I BD, comorbid psychiatric or substance use disorder, circadian rhythm disruption, hospitalization characteristics, and neuroimaging parameters, including increased dynamic amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation, decreased frontolimbic functional connectivity and aberrant dynamic FC in corticostriatal circuitry.
CONCLUSIONS
ML models can predict adverse outcomes of BD with relatively acceptable performance measures. Future studies with larger samples and nested cross-validation validation should be conducted to reach more reliable results.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder, involving motor and non-motor symptoms (NMS). Sleep disturbances (SD) are the second most common NMS in PD and include rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD), excessive daytime sleepiness and insomnia. Freezing of gait (FOG) is a gait impairment frequently reported in people with PD greatly hampering functional independence and quality of life. Presence of FOG has been associated with increased frequency and severity of NMS, including SD. Thus, the aim of this study was to systematically review the literature comparing the number of people with FOG in PD with (PD + SD) and without SD (PD-SD). By systematically searching PubMed and Web of Science databases to identify original peer-reviewed articles, 8 studies including 5251 people with PD (2025 PD + SD and 3226 PD-SD) met eligibility criteria and were included in the review. In 6 studies (4 studies investigating RBD, 2 studies investigating overall sleep quality), the group of PD + SD had higher prevalence of FOG compared with PD-SD. Although a limited number of studies, our findings suggest that PD + SD present more frequently FOG than PD-SD. More studies are required to investigate the possible mechanism underlying this association between FOG and sleep.

Clinical improvement effect of regulating gut microbiota on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
BACKGROUND
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is constantly rising globally. There are barely any effective medications or supplements for the management of MASLD. We aim to systematically evaluate the most current evidence for gut microbiota-regulating supplements in patients with MASLD.
METHODS
We searched multiple electronic data for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published from January 1, 2012, to July 15, 2023. The intervention measures included probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, antibiotics, and fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). The control group was treated with a placebo or usual care. The intervention duration was divided into two periods (>12 weeks and ≤12 weeks). Adequate evaluation data for antibiotics and FMT have not been obtained. Therefore, the other three microbiota regulators are the primary evaluation measures in this study.
RESULTS
We found that probiotics alone could not improve clinical indicators in MASLD patients. However, synbiotics exhibited an improvement in reducing liver steatosis, TNF-ɑ levels, and increasing HDL-c levels, and the inflammatory markers of liver cells (ALT and AST) were also improved. For the effective intervention duration, this systematic review suggested that around 12 weeks is an ideal intervention cycle for MASLD patients.
CONCLUSIONS
This meta-analysis supported the modulation of gut microbiota with synbiotics in the management of MASLD.

Research investigating the quality of life (QOL) of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy has yielded useful knowledge regarding the effects of cancer treatment on the quality of life of patients. This study reviews the assessment of the quality of life for those diagnosed with breast cancer.
DESIGN
A systematic review was conducted.

This systematic review utilized online databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar. A search ranging from 2018 to 2024 was carried out.
REVIEW METHOD
Medical Subject Headings (MESH) were used for keyword selection along with other target keywords, such as "Quality of life", "Breast cancer", "Chemotherapy", "Treatment side effects", "Patient experience", "Psychosocial well-being", "Physical functioning", "Emotional distress", and "Supportive care". We reviewed and included all English-language publications. A narrative synthesis was conducted to present the results of the studies.
RESULTS
A total of 300 studies were obtained from the search using the specified keywords. Each result underwent another filtering round after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. This process led to a final selection of 20 papers that met the requirements and were included in the systematic review.
CONCLUSION
The use of instruments to measure the quality of life (QoL) of breast cancer patients is crucial in understanding the impact of breast cancer on patients' lives, from physical and mental health to social aspects.

RESULTS
The search using the keywords yielded a total of 135 studies. Each result was filtered again according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in a final total of 15 studies to be included in the systematic review.
CONCLUSION
The evidence supports the benefits of physical activity in enhancing the quality of life for breast cancer survivors, indicating that further prospective and intervention studies are needed.
