Pulmonary Atresia with Intact Ventricular Septum: Correlation of Preoperative Computed Tomography-Derived Parameters with Echocardiographic Tricuspid Valve Z-Score and Surgical Outcomes.
The role of preoperative cardiac computed tomography (CT) in neonates with pulmonary atresia and intact ventricular septum (PA-IVS) remains unclear. This study was aimed to elaborate the role of preoperative CT-derived anatomical and functional findings in planning treatment strategies in neonates with PA-IVS. The presence of ventriculocoronary arterial connections was evaluated by CT. CT-derived ventricular volumetric parameters were compared and correlated with echocardiographic tricuspid valve (TV) z-score in 12 neonates with PA-IVS. Cardiac CT and echocardiographic findings were compared between definite surgical types (median follow-up, 4 years). Ventriculocoronary arterial connections were identified with CT in 58.3% of cases (7/12) and associated with higher incidence of Fontan procedure (42.9%, 3/7) and high mortality (28.6%, 2/7). The CT-derived and echocardiographic TV z-scores exhibited a high correlation (R = 0.924, p < 0.001). The CT-derived right ventricle (RV) volume and RV-left ventricle volume ratio also displayed high correlations (R = 0.875 and 0.867, respectively; p < 0.001) with echocardiographic TV z-score. More positive echocardiographic TV z-score, high CT-derived RV end-diastolic volume and RV-left ventricle volume ratio, and low CT-derived left ventricular end-diastolic volume were observed in biventricular surgery group (N = 2), compared to Fontan operation (N = 3) and 1.5 ventricular surgery (N = 3) groups, and mortality cases (N = 3). Preoperative CT-derived coronary artery anatomy and ventricular volumetric parameters may supplement treatment planning in neonates with PA-IVS especially when multifactorial decision including echocardiographic TV z-score is in a gray zone.W.

INTRODUCTION
The DESyne novolimus-eluting coronary stent (NES) is a new-generation drug-eluting stent (DES) that is widely used, but clinical data are rarely reported for this stent. We compared the safety and effectiveness of the DESyne NES and the Orsiro bioresorbable polymer sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
METHODS
This was a retrospective, single-center, observational study. Between July 2017 and December 2022, patients who presented with chronic or acute coronary syndrome undergoing PCI with DESyne NES or Orsiro SES were consecutively enrolled in the present study. The primary endpoint, major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE), was a composite of cardiovascular death, target-vessel myocardial infarction, or clinically driven target-lesion revascularization.
RESULTS
A total of 776 patients (age 68.8 ± 12.2; 75.9% male) undergoing PCI were included. Overall, 231 patients with 313 lesions received NES and 545 patients with 846 lesions received SES. During a follow-up duration of 784 ± 522 days, the primary endpoint occurred in 10 patients (4.3%) in the NES group and in 36 patients (6.6%) in the SES group. After multivariate adjustment, the risk of MACE did not significantly differ between groups (NES vs. SES, hazard ratio 0.74, 95% CI, 0.35-1.55, p = 0.425). The event rate of individual components of the primary endpoint was comparable between the two groups.
CONCLUSIONS
Favorable and similar clinical outcomes were observed in patients undergoing PCI with either NES or SES in a medium-term follow-up duration. Future studies with adequately powered clinical endpoints are required for further evaluation.

This comprehensive review explores the transformative role of quantitative angiography in the landscape of cardiovascular medicine. Tracing the historical evolution of cardiovascular diagnostics, we emphasize the significance of angiography in diagnosis and treatment. The primary focus on quantitative angiography reveals its capacity to move beyond qualitative assessments, providing clinicians with precise measurements and objective parameters. This paradigm shift enhances diagnostic accuracy, promising far-reaching implications for the future of cardiovascular medicine. The ability to tailor interventions based on meticulous measurements optimizes therapeutic strategies and positions the field on the brink of a new era where personalized approaches become the norm. However, challenges such as image quality, radiation exposure, and interpretation variability persist, necessitating a collective call to action for continued research and development. As we confront these issues, collaborative efforts across disciplines are essential to refine existing technologies and usher in innovative solutions. A 7-year-old spayed female domestic shorthair cat was presented for evaluation of a large-volume abdominal space-occupying lesion. A computed tomography angiography examination detected a round retroperitoneal mass, in contact with the large abdominal vessels, characterized by an external hyperattenuating capsule and a larger hypoattenuating center. The capsule was soft-tissue attenuating with marked heterogenous contrast enhancement. The center was hypoattenuating pre- and post-contrast administration. The mass displaced both kidneys laterally and the descendent colon ventrally. The mesenteric veins and both phrenicoabdominal veins were markedly increased in diameter. However, the adrenals were not involved. On the excretory phase, no contrast enhancement was observed in either ureter, except for the proximal tract of the right ureter. At laparotomy, both ureters entered the mass that was adherent to the great abdominal vessels. The cytological diagnosis was retroperitoneal extra-adrenal paraganglioma. In cats, retroperitoneal extra-adrenal paragangliomas are very rare. This is the first computed tomography angiography report of a retroperitoneal extra-adrenal paraganglioma in a domestic cat. Key clinical message: This report describes the computed tomography angiography features of a rare case of a retroperitoneal extra-adrenal paraganglioma in a cat. These features could be taken into consideration to direct the diagnosis of a possible neuroendocrine origin for a retroperitoneal mass in a cat.

Spinal dural arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is an abnormal shunting between the segmental artery and radicular vein adjacent to the dural root sleeve in the spine. This is the most common vascular malformation of the spinal cord and is a rare but treatable cause of para or quadriplegia. It most commonly occurs in elderly men and often affects the thoracolumbar region. These patients clinically present with progressive myelopathies, and other autonomic symptoms (e.g., bladder and bowel dysfunction) subsequently in the later course of the disease. Computed tomography angiography and magnetic resonance imaging remain the modality for initial evaluation. Herein, we present a rare case of spinal dural AVF in a child along with a review of imaging modalities. To the best of our knowledge, there are few case reports of this condition in a paediatric age group.

OBJECTIVE
To explore the evaluation value of intracranial magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) combined with carotid ultrasound (CU) in patients with cerebral infarction (CI).
METHODS
A retrospective analysis was conducted on 122 patients with CI who underwent intracranial MRA combined with CU examination in Shengzhou People's Hospital from January 2021 to October 2022. Vascular stenosis rate and CU parameters of patients with different degrees of nerve damage (ND) and size of CI lesion were analyzed.
RESULTS
The rate of vascular stenosis and ultrasound parameters significantly varied between patients with different degrees of ND and different sizes of CI lesion. Spearman test showed a significant positive correlation between vascular stenosis, pulsatile index (PI), and resistance index (RI) with the degree of ND and the size of CI lesions in patients. There was a significant negative correlation between peak systolic velocity (PSV) and end-diastolic velocity (EDV) and the degree of ND and the size of CI lesions (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
Intracranial MRA combined with CU can clarify the vascular stenosis and hemodynamic characteristics of patients with CI, and the combined approach closely correlates with the characteristics of CI, which can be used for disease assessment.

In vascular neurosurgery, dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) are a difficult, challenging condition whose natural history and therapy are still debated. This case report presented a 30-year-old male patient who experienced intermittent headaches for two months, along with gradual weakness in all four limbs, resulting in quadriplegia. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) played a significant role in the diagnosis of the patient, in which the final diagnosis was vascular myelopathy due to Dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF). A successful embolization procedure of arteriovenous fistula using balloon-assisted liquid embolic agents, through branches of the right occipital artery was performed, resulting in complete obliteration of the fistula. In order to improve the neurovascular symptoms that had previously been reported, the patient was effectively undergoing rehabilitation, with notable progress.
