Review
Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) originate from the neural crest and the present mesenchymal phenotype showed self-renewal capabilities and can differentiate into at least three lineages. DPSCs are easily isolated with minimal harm, no notable ethical constraints, and without general anesthesia to the donor individuals. Furthermore, cryopreservation of DPSCs provides this opportunity for autologous transplantation in future studies without fundamental changes in stemness, viability, proliferation, and differentiating features. Current approaches for pulp tissue regeneration include pulp revascularization, cell-homing-based regenerative endodontic treatment (RET), cell-transplantation-based regenerative endodontic treatment, and allogeneic transplantation. In recent years, a novel technology, organoid, provides a mimic physiological condition and tissue construct that can be applied for tissue engineering, genetic manipulation, disease modeling, single-cell high throughput analysis, living biobank, cryopreserving and maintaining cells, and therapeutic approaches based on personalized medicine. The organoids can be a reliable preclinical prediction model for evaluating cell behavior, monitoring drug response or resistance, and comparing healthy and pathological conditions for therapeutic and prognostic approaches. In the current review, we focused on the promising application of 3D organoid technology based on DPSCs in oral and maxillofacial tissue regeneration. We discussed encountering challenges and limitations, and found promising solutions to overcome obstacles.

Recommendations for the Management of Patients with Hairy-Cell Leukemia and Hairy-Cell Leukemia-like Disorders: A Work by French-Speaking Experts and French Innovative Leukemia Organization (FILO) Group.
INTRODUCTION
Hairy-cell leukemia (HCL) is a rare B-cell chronic lymphoproliferative disorder (B-CLPD), whose favorable prognosis has changed with the use of purine nucleoside analogs (PNAs), such as cladribine (CDA) or pentostatin (P). However, some patients eventually relapse and over time HCL becomes resistant to chemotherapy. Many discoveries have been made in the pathophysiology of HCL during the last decade, especially in genomics, with the identification of the BRAF mutation and cellular biology, including the importance of signaling pathways as well as tumor microenvironment. All of these new developments led to targeted treatments, especially BRAF inhibitors (BRAFis), MEK inhibitors (MEKis), Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitors (BTKis) and recombinant anti-CD22 immunoconjugates.
RESULTS
The following major changes or additions were introduced in these updated guidelines: the clinical relevance of the changes in the classification of splenic B-cell lymphomas and leukemias; the increasingly important diagnostic role of BRAF mutation; and the prognostic role of the immunoglobulin (IG) variable (V) heavy chain (H) () mutational status and repertory. We also wish to insist on the specific involvement of bones, skin, brain and/or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of the disease at diagnosis or during the follow-up, the novel targeted drugs (BRAFi and MEKi) used for HCL treatment, and the increasing role of minimal residual disease (MRD) assessment.
CONCLUSION
Here we present recommendations for the diagnosis of HCL, treatment in first line and in relapsed/refractory patients as well as for HCL-like disorders including HCL variant (HCL-V)/splenic B-cell lymphomas/leukemias with prominent nucleoli (SBLPN) and splenic diffuse red pulp lymphoma (SDRPL).

AIM
Autophagy is involved in human apical periodontitis (AP). However, it is not clear whether autophagy is protective or destructive in bone loss via the receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL)/RANK/osteoprotegerin (OPG) axis. This study aimed to investigate the involvement of autophagy via the RANKL/RANK/OPG axis during the development of AP in an experimental rat model.
METHODOLOGY
Twenty-four female Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into control, experimental AP (EAP) + saline, and EAP + 3-methyladenine (An autophagy inhibitor, 3-MA) groups. The control group did not receive any treatment. The EAP + saline group and the EAP + 3-MA group received intraperitoneal injections of saline and 3-MA, respectively, starting 1 week after the pulp was exposed. Specimens were collected for microcomputed tomography (micro-CT) scanning, histological processing, and immunostaining to examine the expression of light chain 3 beta (LC3B), RANK, RANKL, and OPG. Data were analysed using one-way analysis of variance (p < .05).
RESULTS
Micro-CT showed greater bone loss in the EAP + 3-MA group than in the EAP + saline group, indicated by an elevated trabecular space (Tb.Sp) (p < .05). Inflammatory cell infiltration was observed in the EAP + saline and EAP + 3-MA groups. Compared with EAP + saline group, the EAP + 3-MA group showed weaker expression of LC3B (p < .01) and OPG (p < .05), more intense expression of RANK (p < .01) and RANKL (p < .01), and a higher RANKL/OPG ratio (p < .05).
CONCLUSION
Autophagy may exert a protective effect against AP by regulating the RANKL/RANK/OPG axis, thereby inhibiting excessive bone loss.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) imaging technology faces significant technical bottlenecks in ensuring balanced spatial resolution, preventing image bias induced by substrate heterogeneity, accurate quantitative analysis, and substrate preparation that enhances Raman signal strength on a global scale. To systematically solve these problems, artificial intelligence techniques are applied to analyze the signals of pesticides based on 3D and dynamic SERS imaging. Utilizing perovskite/silver nanoparticles composites (CaTiO/Ag@BONPs) as enhanced substrates, enabling it not only to cleanse pesticide residues from the surface to pulp of fruits and vegetables, but also to investigate the penetration dynamics of an array of pesticides (chlorpyrifos, thiabendazole, thiram, and acetamiprid). The findings challenge existing paradigms, unveiling a previously unnoticed weakening process during pesticide invasion and revealing the surprising permeability of non-systemic pesticides. Of particular note is easy to overlook that the combined application of pesticides can inadvertently intensify their invasive capacity due to pesticide interactions. The innovative study delves into the realm of pesticide penetration, propelling a paradigm shift in the understanding of food safety. Meanwhile, this strategy provides strong support for the cutting-edge application of SERS imaging technology and also brings valuable reference and enlightenment for researchers in related fields.

BACKGROUND
Severe early childhood caries (S-ECC) is recognized as a significant chronic disease which affects the quality of life starting at very young ages and has a very rapid evolution towards pulp complication and loss of dental tissue. Children with a high caries index DMFT are more likely to develop high levels of dental anxiety, which will influence the degree of cooperation during dental procedures. Emotions play an important role in the psychosomatic development of children, and all the factors that contribute to the modeling of these emotional states must be known and taken into consideration.
AIM
The aim of this study was to assess the association between dental anxiety in children with S-ECC and the color preferences for the components of the dental environment to reduce the levels of dental anxiety during medical visits.
MATERIAL AND METHOD
For this study, 91 children between 3 and 6 years of age diagnosed with S-ECC were selected from the Pediatric Dentistry Department of UMFST from Targu Mures and from a private dental office. The level of dental anxiety was determined by measuring the pulse rate, and a questionnaire was completed to establish the color preferences for the dental office environment and the dentist's attire. For this purpose, six different colors and their variants with three shades less intensity were chosen by using RGB (Red, Green, and Blue) identification codes for each color.
RESULT
The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the age of the subjects and dental anxiety levels, but there was no significant correlation between the DMFT score and dental anxiety. Also, the results showed that there was no significant difference between girls and boys when choosing the colors preferred by them for the dental office, but when comparing the colors that represented happiness, significant statistical difference was found between the girls' and boys' groups ( = 0.0039). For all the subjects, the colors associated with happiness were light yellow and pink, while the colors associated with anxiety were red and dark blue.
CONCLUSION
The data obtained showed that dental anxiety is strongly influenced by age, and an important role in inducing positive emotions is played by the dental environment if dressed in specific colors in order to reduce dental anxiety and create familiar conditions, especially for young children with S-ECC.

BACKGROUND
A pulp stone is a calcified mass that develops in the dental pulp of any tooth. Despite many studies examining the relationship between pulp stone formation and non-oral factors, the methods used in these studies have been unable to explain the exact role of these factors alone as distinct from probable effects within the oral cavity environment. Considering that totally unerupted (impacted or developing) teeth are unexposed to the oral cavity's environmental and functional conditions, they provide a more suitable material for studying the effects of these non-oral factors on pulp stone formation. This research study aimed to investigate pulp stones in unerupted teeth and the associated factors in a Saudi subpopulation.
METHODS
The study included 644 cone-beam computed tomography images, with 496 (50.9%) maxillary and 479 (49.1%) mandibular teeth. Of the investigated patients, 293 (45.5%) were men, and 351 (54.5%) were women. The age range was 15-76 years. A chi-square test was used to investigate the associations between pulp stones and age, gender, and history of systemic disease and chronic medication use.
RESULTS
Pulp stones in unerupted teeth were present in 24.2% of the examined dental jaws and 18.6% of the examined teeth. There was no statistically significant relationship between pulp stones and gender (p > 0.05). A significantly greater percentage of pulp stones were found with increasing age (p = 0.000). Additionally, a significantly increased number of pulp stones was observed in patients with systemic diseases and chronic medications (p < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
The results support the idea that pulp stones can be present in any type of unerupted tooth. This study provides additional evidence of the increased incidence of pulp stones with age, systemic disease, and chronic medications.

Hearing impairments and dental anomalies are found in many genetic syndromes. Otodental syndrome is a rare combination of hearing loss and the presence of a pathognomonic dental phenotype known as globodontia, in which the tooth exhibits an abnormal globe shape. There is no histologic evidence of structural anomalies in the enamel, dentin, or pulp. This report describes the case of a 12-year-old boy who had hearing loss and 2 supernumerary globe-shaped teeth in the sites of the permanent maxillary central incisors. The diagnosis of otodental syndrome was established based on the clinical, radiographic, and histologic features, but other conditions, including dens evaginatus, talon cusp, dens invaginatus, and compound odontoma, should be included in the differential diagnosis. Dental treatment consisted of the extraction of both anomalous teeth, allowing spontaneous eruption of the impacted permanent central incisors. Early diagnosis of otodental syndrome permits a multidisciplinary approach to prevent other pathologic conditions, reduce functional damage, and avoid social problems.

Isoacids are branched ketoacids which when fed to ruminants have been shown to enhance the growth of fiber-digesting organisms. Ninety finishing gilts were individually fed dietary treatments consisting of diet type: corn-soybean meal (CSBM), a diet containing 40% distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS), or a diet containing 40% sugar beet pulp (SBP); in combination with either no feed additive (CNT), the addition of 0.50% isobutyrate (IB), or the addition of a 0.88% mix of isobutyrate, isovalerate, and 2-methylbutyrate (MX). Gilts consumed an average of 2.171 kg/d over the 28-d trial. On d 26, fresh fecal samples were collected for determination of apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of gross energy (GE) and nitrogen (N), determination of fecal volatile fatty acids (VFA), and evaluation of microbial ecology. There was no interaction between diet type and isoacid addition, and no main effect of isoacid or diet type on alpha or Shannon microbial diversity measures (P > 0.05). There was no interaction between isoacid addition and diet type, and no main effect of isoacid addition on microbial beta diversity (P > 0.05), but differences were observed in microbial beta diversity due to diet type (P ≤ 0.05). There was no interaction between diet type and isoacid addition observed in fecal VFA concentrations (P > 0.05), with only minor differences in fecal VFA concentrations noted due to isoacid addition (P ≤ 0.05). The interaction between diet type and isoacid addition on ATTD of dietary GE and N (P ≤ 0.01) was largely because the addition of IB did not affect ATTD of GE or N in pigs fed the CSBM diet, but increased ATTD of GE and N in pigs fed diets containing DDGS and decreased the ATTD of GE and N in pigs fed diets containing SBP. In contrast, adding a blend of isoacids (i.e., MX) reduced the ATTD of GE and N, regardless of diet type. There was no interaction between diet type and isoacid addition, and no effect of isoacid addition was observed on pig performance (P > 0.05). Diet type did not affect ADG (P > 0.05), but pigs fed diets containing DDGS or SBP consumed less feed (P = 0.01) and exhibited greater GF ratios compared to pigs fed the low-fiber CSBM diet (P ≤ 0.05). In conclusion, there was little to no effect of isoacid addition on microbial ecology, fecal VFA concentrations, ATTD of GE or N, or pig performance, but the improvement in ATTD of GE and N in pigs fed diets containing DDGS when IB was added warrants further investigation.

The objective of this case study is to report on the diagnosis and treatment of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ), which was originally misdiagnosed and mistreated as endodontic disease. A patient was referred for worsening odontalgia despite root canal therapy on tooth No. 19 and a course of oral antibiotics. Examination demonstrated slight buccal swelling and tenderness in the left masseter and a 7-mm diameter area of exposed bone on the mandibular left lingual torus. Further history-taking revealed prior bisphosphonate therapy for metastatic breast cancer. MRONJ was identified as the likely diagnosis, and the patient was appropriately referred to oral and maxillofacial surgery where the diagnosis was confirmed and surgical debridement performed. The case study demonstrates how the symptomatology and presentation of MRONJ can resemble endodontic disease and that timely and appropriate treatment requires eliciting an in-depth medical history, reaching a complete pulpal and periapical diagnosis, and remaining attentive to the presence of exposed bone on examination.

AIM
To investigate iron-deficiency anemia as a risk factor for dental pulp disease in children from the central Peruvian jungle.
METHODOLOGY
A case-control study was carried out with 270 children, of which 90 referred to cases and 180, to controls. Patients with pulp disease were diagnosed according to the criteria of the Association of Endodontists and the American Board of Endodontics. A specific questionnaire was used to assess ferrous sulfate consumption, maternal education level, maternal age, occupation, and household income. Data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and a binary logistic regression.
RESULTS
Iron deficiency anemia offers a risk factor for pulp disease in children (OR 7.44, IC 95% 4.0-13.8). According to multivariate analysis using binary logistic regression, ferrous sulfate consumption (OR 13.8, IC 95% 5.6.33.9), maternal education level (OR 2.4, IC 95% 1.1-5.3), maternal age (OR 7.5, IC 95% 2.9-19.4), household income (OR 4.0, IC 95% 1.6-9.6), and caries (OR 10.7, IC 95% 4.5-25.7) configured independent factors that were statistically associated with pulp disease.
CONCLUSION
Iron deficiency anemia, ferrous sulfate consumption, maternal education level, maternal age, household income, and dental caries were positively associated with pulp disease in children.
