Monopterus albus is one of China's renowned and superior aquaculture species, with its seedlings mainly sourced from wild capture. One of the bottlenecks in aquaculture is the high mortality rate and low feeding initiation rate from stocking wild fry to the initiation of feeding. In production, trash fish is commonly used to wean juveniles onto feeding. In this study, we introduced three other natural feeds, earthworms (EW), yellow mealworms (YMW), and fly maggots (FM), with frozen trash fish (TF) serving as the control group, to evaluate the effects of these four natural feeds on the survival rate, feeding initiation, antioxidant enzymes activity, and body composition of juveniles under recirculating water aquaculture conditions. The experiment comprised four treatments, each with three replicates. Each replicate consisted of stocking 150 juveniles weighing 10.02 ± 0.89 g in size, raised for 5 weeks. The survival rate of the YMW group was 73.33%-85.33%, which was significantly higher than that of the other three bait groups ( < 0.05). The four bait groups showed no significant differences in final body weight and specific growth rate (SGR) ( > 0.05). The EW group showed the highest final body weight, with an average SGR of 2.73, whereas the YMW group had an average SGR of 1.87. The average daily feeding amount was significantly higher in EW and YMW groups than in the other two groups ( < 0.05). The percentage of feeding amount to fish weight in the EW group reached 7.3% in the fifth week. After 5 weeks of cultivation, NO -N content was significantly higher in the waters of the TF and EW groups than in the waters of the FM and YMW groups ( < 0.05), there was no significant difference in TAN content among the treatment groups ( > 0.05). Liver malondialdehyde content was significantly higher in the TF group than in the other bait groups ( < 0.05). GSH-Px activity was significantly higher in the EW group than in the FM group and YMW group. No significant differences in SOD and CAT activity and T-AOC were observed among the bait groups ( > 0.05). The increase in crude protein content was significantly higher in the TF group than in the FM group, but the increase in crude ash content was significantly lower in the TFgroup. In conclusion, could potentially serve as one of the alternative feeds during the initial stages of juveniles stocking.

Effects of mulberry leaf powder water extract supplementation on the growth performance, immunity, antioxidant, meat quality and intestinal microbiota of yellow feather broilers.
A 50-day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of mulberry leaf powder water extract (MLE) on the growth performance, immunity, antioxidant, meat quality and intestinal microbiota of yellow feather broilers. A total of 720 birds (initial body weight 40.07 ± 0.05 g) were randomly distributed into four groups with six replicates per group and 30 birds per replicate. Four diets were formulated with 0% (CON), 200 mg/kg MLE (MLE200), 400 mg/kg MLE (MLE400) and 600 mg/kg MLE (MLE600) supplementation. Results showed that the addition of 200-600 mg/kg MLE to the diet significantly increased the body weight (BW) and average daily weight gain (ADG), but feed to gain ratio (F/G) were linearly decreased (p = 0.045) as dietary MLE increased. Birds fed MLE400 had higher (p < 0.05) total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), interleukin-10 (Il-10), secretory immunoglobulin A (SIgA) and complement 3 (C3) contents than those fed CON, whereas MLE400 had lower malondialdehyde (MDA) content than CON (p < 0.05). Analysis of 16 S rDNA indicated that supplementation with 200 mg/kg MLE increased the Shannon indices in the caecum (p < 0.05). Supplementation with MLE decreased the abundance of the phylum Proteobacteria and genus Helicobacter, and increased the abundance of the phylum Bacteroidetes in the caecum in broiler chickens (p < 0.05). The drip loss rate in the MLE600 was significantly diminished (p < 0.05), whereas the shear force was significantly elevated (p < 0.05). In summary, dietary supplementation with MLE can effectively improve growth performance, intestinal immunity, serum antioxidant capacity, meat quality and intestinal microbiota of yellow feather broilers. The most appropriate MLE supplementation level was 400 mg/kg. This study provides a practical strategy for the dietary application of MLE in yellow feather broilers.

A large body of work in the last four decades has revealed the key pillars of HIV-1 transcription control at the initiation and elongation steps. Here, I provide a recount of this collective knowledge starting with the genomic elements (DNA and nascent TAR RNA stem-loop) and transcription factors (cellular and the viral transactivator Tat), and later transitioning to the assembly and regulation of transcription initiation and elongation complexes, and the role of chromatin structure. Compelling evidence support a core HIV-1 transcriptional program regulated by the sequential and concerted action of cellular transcription factors and Tat to promote initiation and sustain elongation, highlighting the efficiency of a small virus to take over its host to produce the high levels of transcription required for viral replication. I summarize new advances including the use of CRISPR-Cas9, genetic tools for acute factor depletion, and imaging to study transcriptional dynamics, bursting and the progression through the multiple phases of the transcriptional cycle. Finally, I describe current challenges to future major advances and discuss areas that deserve more attention to both bolster our basic knowledge of the core HIV-1 transcriptional program and open up new therapeutic opportunities.

The notion of the fitness of a strategy has been assimilated as the reproductive success in the evolutionary game. Initially, this fitness was tied to the game's pay-off and the strategy's relative frequency. However, density dependence becomes exigent in order to make ecologically reliable fitness. However, the contributions of each different type of interaction to the species' overall growth process were surprisingly under-explored. This oversight has occasionally led to either more or less prediction of strategy selection compared to the actual possibility. Moreover, density regulation of the population has always been analyzed in a general way compared to strategy selection. In this context, our study introduces the concept of mean relative death payoff, which helps in assessing interaction intensity coefficients and integrates them into strategic fitness. Based on this fitness function, we develop the frequency-density replicator dynamics, which eventually provides distinguishing criteria for cyandirectional and balancing selection. Our optimized, evolutionarily stable strategy emerges as a superior alternative to the conventional trade-off between selection forces and ecological processes. More significantly, mean relative death pay-off has both conditional and quantitative roles in getting a stable population size. As a case study, we have extensively analyzed the evolution of aggression using the Hawk-Dove game. We have shown that pure Dove selection is always beneficial for species growth rather than pure Hawk selection, and the condition of selection is dependent on external mortality pressure. However, the condition of coexistence is independent of external mortality pressure, representing a strong evolutionary selection that optimizes population density governed by interaction intensity.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
Lower-limb wearable devices can significantly improve the quality of life of subjects suffering from debilitating conditions, such as amputations, neurodegenerative disorders, and stroke-related impairments. Current control approaches, limited to forward walking, fall short of replicating the complexity of human locomotion in complex environments, such as uneven terrains or crowded places. Here we propose a high-level controller based on two Support Vector Machines exploiting four surface electromyography (EMG) signals of the thigh muscles to detect the onset (Toe-off intention decoder) and the direction (Directional EMG decoder) of the upcoming step.
METHODS AND MATERIALS
We validated a preliminary version of the approach by acquiring EMG signals from ten healthy subjects, performing steps in four directions (forward, backward, right, and left), in three different settings (ground-level walking, stairs, and ramps), and in both steady-state and static conditions. Both the Toe-off intention and Directional EMG decoders have been tested with a 5-fold cross-validation repeated five times, using linear and radial-basis-function kernels, and by changing the classification output timing, from 200 ms before to 50 ms after the toe-off.
RESULTS
The Toe-off intention decoder reached a median accuracy of 83.34 % (interquartile range (IQR): 6.48) and specificity of 92.72 % (IQR: 3.62) in its radial-basis-function version, while the Directional EMG decoder's median accuracy ranged between 73.92 % (IQR: 5.8), 200 ms before the toe-off, to 92.91 % (IQR: 4.11), 50 ms after the toe-off, with the radial-basis-function kernel implementation. For both the Toe-off intention and Directional EMG decoders the radial-basis-function version achieved better performances than the linear one (Wilcoxon signed rank test, p < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS AND SIGNIFICANCE
The combination of the two decoders proved to be a promising solution to detect the step initiation and classify its direction, paving the way for wearable devices with a broader range of movements and more degrees of freedom, ultimately promoting usability in uncontrolled settings and better reactions to external perturbations. Additionally, the encumbrance of the setup is limited to the thigh of the leg of interest, which simplifies the implementation in compact devices, concurrently limiting the sensors worn by the subject.

Stress granules (SGs), formed by untranslated messenger ribonucleoproteins (mRNPs) during cellular stress in eukaryotes, have been linked to flavivirus interference without clear understanding. This study reveals the role of Zika virus (ZIKV) NS2B as a scaffold protein mediating interaction between protein phosphatase 1α (PP1α) and eukaryotic initiation factor 2α (eIF2α). This interaction promotes eIF2α dephosphorylation by PP1α, inhibiting SG formation. The NS2B-PP1α complex exhibits remarkable stability, resisting ubiquitin-induced degradation and amplifying eIF2α dephosphorylation, thus promoting ZIKV replication. In contrast, the NS2BV35A mutant, interacting exclusively with eIF2α, fails to inhibit SG formation, resulting in reduced viral replication and diminished impact on brain organoid growth. These findings reveal PP1α's dual role in ZIKV infection, inducing interferon production as an antiviral factor and suppressing SG formation as a viral promoter. Moreover, we found that NS2B also serves as a versatile mechanism employed by flaviviruses to counter host antiviral defenses, primarily by broadly inhibiting SG formation. This research advances our comprehension of the complex interplay in flavivirus-host interactions, offering potential for innovative therapeutic strategies against flavivirus infections.

Real-World Safety and Effectiveness of Letermovir in Patients Undergoing Allogenic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: Final Results of Post-Marketing Surveillance in Japan.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common opportunistic infection after allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Letermovir, an inhibitor of CMV DNA terminase, is approved for CMV prophylaxis in allo-HSCT patients. We report the final results of post-marketing surveillance of letermovir in Japan.
METHODS
The case report forms were drafted in part by the Japanese Data Center for Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation using data elements in the Transplant Registry Unified Management Program and sent to individual HSCT centers to decrease the burden of reporting. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation patients who received letermovir between May 2018 and May 2022 were registered. Data collected included physician-assessed adverse events/adverse drug reactions and clinical effectiveness (development of CMV disease, CMV antigen status, and use of preemptive therapy).
RESULTS
A total of 821 HSCT patients were included in the safety analyses. Adverse drug reactions occurred in 11.33% of patients, with serious adverse drug reactions in 3.05%. The five most common adverse drug reactions were nausea (1.58%), renal impairment (1.46%), and acute graft versus host disease, CMV test positive, and hepatic function abnormal (0.61% each). A total of 670 patients were eligible for effectiveness analyses. Among these patients, 16.57% and 28.66% required preemptive therapy through week 14 and week 48, respectively. In addition, relatively few patients developed CMV disease throughout the follow-up period (1.34% at week 14 and 3.85% at week 48).
CONCLUSIONS
This final analysis of post-marketing surveillance with up to 48 weeks follow-up period in Japan provides further evidence supporting the safety profile and effectiveness of letermovir for CMV prophylaxis in patients undergoing allo-HSCT in real-world settings.

BACKGROUND
People with special health care needs in long-term care settings have difficulty accessing a traditional dental office. The goal of the authors was to assess initial treatment decision concordance between dentists conducting traditional in-person examinations using mobile equipment and additional dentists conducting examinations using asynchronous teledentistry technology.
METHODS
Six dentists from Access Dental Care, a North Carolina mobile dentistry nonprofit, saw new patients on-site at 12 participating facilities or asynchronously off-site with electronic dental records, radiographs, and intraoral images, all captured by an on-site dental hygienist. Off-site dentists were masked to other dentists' treatment need decisions; 3 through 5 off-site examinations were conducted for each on-site examination. Demographic and binary treatment need category data were collected. For the 3 most prevalent treatment types needed (surgery, restorative, and new removable denture), the authors calculated the percentage agreement and κ statistics with bootstrapped CIs (1,000 replicates).
RESULTS
The 100 enrolled patients included 47 from nursing homes, 45 from Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, and 8 from group homes for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Mean (SD) age was 73.9 (16.5) years. Among dentate participants, the percentage agreement and bootstrapped κ (95% CI) were 87% and 0.74 (0.70 to 0.78) for surgery and 78% and 0.54 (0.50 to 0.58) for restorative needs, respectively, and among dentate and edentulous participants, they were 94% and 0.78 (0.74 to 0.83), respectively, for new removable dentures.
CONCLUSIONS
The authors assessed the initial dental treatment decision concordance between on-site dentists conducting in-person examinations with a mobile oral health care delivery model and off-site dentists conducting examinations with asynchronous dentistry. Concordance was substantial for surgery and removable denture treatment decisions and moderate for restorative needs. Patient characteristics and facility type were not significant factors in the levels of examiner agreement.
PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS
This evidence supports teledentistry use for patients with special health care needs and could help improve their access to oral health care.

BACKGROUND
This work describes a sustainable and replicable initiative to optimize multi-disciplinary care and uptake of clinical best practices for patients in a pediatric intensive care unit in Low/Middle Income Countries and to understand the various factors that may play a role in the reduction in child mortality seen after implementation of the Quality Improvement Initiative.
METHODS
This was a longitudinal assessment of a quality improvement program with the primary outcome of intubated pediatric patient mortality. The program was assessed 36 months following implementation of the quality improvement intervention using a -test with linear regression to control for co-variates. An Impact Pathway model was developed to describe potential pathways for improvement, and context was added with an exploratory analysis of adoption of the intervention and locally initiated interventions.
RESULTS
147 patients were included in the sustainability cohort. Comparing the initial post-implementation cohort to the sustainability cohort, the overall PICU unexpected extubations per 100 days mechanical ventilation decreased significantly from baseline (6.98) to the first year post intervention (3.52; < 0.008) but plateaued without further significant decrease in the final cohort (3.0; = 0.73), whereas the mortality decreased from 22.4 (std 0.42) to 9.5% (std 0.29): value: 0.002 (confidence intervals: 0.05;0.21). The regression model that examined age, sex, diagnosis and severity of illness (via aggregate Pediatric Risk of Mortality (PRISM) scores between epochs) yielded an adjusted R-squared (adjusting for the number of predictors) value of 0.046, indicating that approximately 4.6% of the variance in mortality was explained by the predictors included in the model. The overall significance of the regression model was supported by an F-statistic of 3.198 ( = 0.00828). age, weight, diagnosis, and severity of illness. 15 new and locally driven quality practices were observed in the PICU compared to the initial post-implementation time period. The Impact Pathway model suggested multiple unique potential pathways connecting the improved patient outcomes with the intervention components.
CONCLUSION
Sustained improvements were seen in the care of intubated pediatric patients. While some of this improvement may be attributable to the intervention, it appears likely that the change is multifactorial, as evidenced by a significant number of new quality improvement projects initiated by the local clinical team. Although currently limited by available data, the use of Driver Diagram and Impact Pathway models demonstrates several proposed causal pathways and holds potential for further elucidating the complex dynamics underlying such improvements.
