In situ construction of covalent-organic framework on hydrogen-bond organic framework: Fluorescence detection and removal of 4-nitrophenol and metamitron in aqueous media.
A multifunctional COF@HOF (ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF) composite is prepared by adding red-fluorescent ETTA-DFP COF to the blue-fluorescent TCBP-HOF preparation system through molecular hydrogen bonding or π - π stacking interactions in situ one-pot synthesis. ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF is a multifunctional material for the quantitative detection and simultaneous adsorption of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and metamitron (MET) in aqueous solution. As a dual-emission fluorescent sensor, the ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF has both fluorescence of TCBP-HOF at 474 nm and ETTA-DFP COF at 592 nm, which shows a ratiometric response to 4-NP and MET with high selectivity, good sensitivity, good anti-interference performance and fast response. As a adsorbent, ETTA-DFP@TCBP-HOF displays rapid adsorption kinetics, and acceptable adsorption capacity for 4-NP and MET. In conclusion, this work constructs a novel multifunctional hybrid material with dual-emission center of HOF and COF, which can not only be used as a ratiometric fluorescent probe for detection, but also for removal of hazardous pollutants, suggesting a new strategy for environmental remediation and human health.

Designing and developing suitable oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts with high activity and stability remain challenging in electrolytic water splitting. Hence, NiFe@NC@MoS core-bishell composites wrapped by molybdenum disulphide (MoS) and nitrogen-doped graphene (NC) were prepared using hydrothermal synthesis in this research. NiFe@NC@MoS composite exhibits excellent performance with an overpotential of 288 mV and a Tafel slope of 53.2 mV·dec at a current density of 10 mA·cm in 1 M KOH solution, which is superior to commercial RuO. NC and MoS bishells create profuse edge active sites that enhance the adsorption ability of OOH* while lowering the overall overpotential of the product and improving its oxygen precipitation performance. The density function theory(DFT) analysis confirms that the layered MoS in NiFe@NC@MoS provides additional edge active sites and enhances electron transfer, thus increasing the intrinsic catalytic activity. This research paves a novel way for developing OER electrocatalysts with excellent catalytic performance.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
In ultrasound guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) surgery, it is necessary to transmit sound waves at different frequencies simultaneously using two transducers: one for the HIFU therapy and another for the ultrasound imaging guidance. In this specific setting, real-time monitoring of non-invasive surgery is challenging due to severe contamination of the ultrasound guiding images by strong acoustic interference from the HIFU sonication.
METHODS
This paper proposed the use of a deep learning (DL) solution, specifically a diffusion implicit model, to suppress the HIFU interference. We considered the images contaminated with HIFU interference as low-resolution images, and those free from interference as high-resolution. While suppressing HIFU interference using the diffusion implicit (HIFU-Diff) model, the task was transformed into generating a high-resolution image through a series of forward diffusion steps and reverse sampling. A series of ex-vivo and in-vivo experiments, conducted under various parameters, were designed to validate the performance of the proposed network.
RESULTS
Quantitative evaluation and statistical analysis demonstrated that the HIFU-Diff network achieved superior performance in reconstructing interference-free images under a variety of ex-vivo and in-vivo conditions, compared to the most commonly used notch filtering and the recent 1D FUS-Net deep learning network. The HIFU-Diff maintains high performance with 'unseen' datasets from separate experiments, and its superiority is more pronounced under strong HIFU interferences and in complex in-vivo situations. Furthermore, the reconstructed interference-free images can also be used for quantitative attenuation imaging, indicating that the network preserves acoustic characteristics of the ultrasound images.
CONCLUSIONS
With the proposed technique, HIFU therapy and the ultrasound imaging can be conducted simultaneously, allowing for real-time monitoring of the treatment process. This capability could significantly enhance the safety and efficacy of the non-invasive treatment across various clinical applications. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first diffusion-based model developed for HIFU interference suppression.

Review
Eggshell quality is a significant characteristic that influences consumer preferences. Eggshell translucency is a common defect in the appearance of eggshells, which are characterized by gray spots that are visible to the naked eye under natural light. The presence of various defects resulting from eggshell translucency has caused a decrease in consumer willingness to purchase eggs, leading to considerable economic losses in the egg industry. Although the impact of eggshell translucency on food safety, egg quality, and hatchability has been extensively investigated, the classification and causes of eggshell translucency remain unclear and lack a systematic summary. In recent studies, new interpretations of evaluation methods and causes of eggshell translucency have been proposed, along with numerous innovative solutions. Therefore, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive review of the evaluation methods, classification, causes, effects, and influencing factors of eggshell translucency and to summarize the treatments for translucent eggs. We believe that this review will serve as a valuable reference for researchers involved in the study of translucent eggs.

Improving assay feasibility and biocompatibility of 3D cyclic olefin copolymer microwells by superhydrophilic modification via ultrasonic spray deposition of polyvinyl alcohol.
Sample partitioning is a crucial step towards digitization of biological assays on polymer microfluidic platforms. However, effective liquid filling into microwells and long-term hydrophilicity remain a challenge in polymeric microfluidic devices, impeding the applicability in diagnostic and cell culture studies. To overcome this, a method to produce permanent superhydrophilic 3-dimensional microwells using cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) microfluidic chips is presented. The COC substrate is oxidized using UV treatment followed by ultrasonic spray coating of polyvinyl alcohol solution, offering uniform and long-term coating of high-aspect ratio microfeatures. The coated COC surfaces are UV-cured before bonding with a hydrophobic pressure-sensitive adhesive to drive selective filling into the wells. The surface hydrophilicity achieved using this method remains unchanged (water contact angle of 9°) for up to 6 months and the modified surface is characterized for physical (contact angle & surface energy, morphology, integrity of microfeatures and roughness), chemical composition (FTIR, Raman spectroscopy) and coating stability (pH, temperature, time). To establish the feasibility of the modified surface in biological applications, PVA-coated COC microfluidic chips are tested for DNA sensing (digital LAMP detection of CMV), and biocompatibility through protein adsorption and cell culture studies (cell adhesion, viability, and metabolic activity). Kidney and breast cells remained viable for the duration of testing (7 days) on this modified surface, and the coating did not affect the protein content, morphology or quality of the cultured cells. The ultrasonic spray coated system, coating with 0.25 % PVA for 15 cycles with 0.12 A current after UV oxidation, increased the surface energy of the COC (naturally hydrophobic) from 22.04 to 112.89 mJ/m and improved the filling efficiency from 40 % (native untreated COC) to 94 % in the microwells without interfering with the biocompatibility of the surface, proving to be an efficient, high-throughput and scalable method of microfluidic surface treatment for diagnostic and cell growth applications.

This paper presents simple numerical solutions for electromagnetic plane waves in spatially homogenous time varying medium. The solution is based on converting the resulting second order differential equation into two combined ordinary differential equations which are solved numerically by using the built-in ode113 function in Matlab. By using this method, the time domain responses of the electric and magnetic fields at fixed point in space are obtained. The proposed method is applied on two cases: linearly time varying medium and sinusoidally time varying medium. The corresponding frequency domain response is obtained by using inverse Fourier transformation of the obtained time domain response. The proposed method is compared with FDTD solution. It is found that the proposed method has the same accuracy of FDTD with much less computational time.

A Cu-6at%Ag cast alloy was deformed by means of high-pressure torsion to different applied strain levels until a steady-state regime is reached. The continuous structural refinement is attended by the successive dissolution of the Ag precipitates in the Cu matrix. The results show that the Ag regions need to fall below a phase size of ~ 5 nm to fully dissolve. Atomistic calculations indicate that the final dissolution can be explained based on the enthalpy difference between the solid solution and layered systems which are in between the coherent and semi-coherent structure. These findings are supported by detailed microstructural investigations.

Review
Precision nutrition requires precise tools to monitor dietary habits. Yet current dietary assessment instruments are subjective, limiting our understanding of the causal relationships between diet and health. Biomarkers of food intake (BFIs) hold promise to increase the objectivity and accuracy of dietary assessment, enabling adjustment for compliance and misreporting. Here, we update current concepts and provide a comprehensive overview of BFIs measured in urine and blood. We rank BFIs based on a four-level utility scale to guide selection and identify combinations of BFIs that specifically reflect complex food intakes, making them applicable as dietary instruments. We discuss the main challenges in biomarker development and illustrate key solutions for the application of BFIs in human studies, highlighting different strategies for selecting and combining BFIs to support specific study designs. Finally, we present a roadmap for BFI development and implementation to leverage current knowledge and enable precision in nutrition research.

Due to the limited reserves of uranium, the abundance of thorium compared to it and other advantages, the development of the thorium fuel cycle is of interest in different countries. The optimization of thorium extraction from a feed solution produced by Saghand ore with bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl) phosphinic acid (Cyanex 272) on a laboratory scale was evaluated by response surface method. The operating variables include Cyanex 272 concentration of 0.001 to 0.2 mol/L, pH of 0 to 2, equilibrium time of 5 to 60 min and aqueous to organic phase ratio of 0.5 to 2.5 were conducted. The value of R = 0.9695 and an error of less than 4% indicate the validity of the model. Therefore, the model is in good agreement with the experimental results. It can be said that there are significant interactions between operational parameters, which vindicate different feedbacks of the system in different operational conditions. The results showed that the 4 mol/L sulfuric acid was a suitable agent for recovering thorium ions from the loaded organic phase. In optimum conditions, the thorium purity percentage and thorium stripping efficiency were obtained 98.99 and 94.12%, respectively.

As the node positioning of underwater wireless sensor networks is easily affected by tidal motion, ocean current motion and multipath effect, the node positioning accuracy is low. In order to better improve the positioning accuracy of moving nodes of underwater wireless sensor networks, a method of locating mobile nodes of underwater wireless sensor based on tidal motion model is proposed. Firstly, the Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) localization optimized by niche genetic algorithm is used to initialize each node. The integration of niche technology can effectively find multiple excellent solutions in the solution space, thus providing more abundant solution choices. This algorithm has excellent performance in multi-modal optimization problems, and can avoid the algorithm falling into local optimal solutions, so as to obtain more comprehensive optimization results. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better positioning accuracy than the traditional Chan algorithm and Taylor algorithm. Then, each node is updated in real time by the optimized tidal movement model formula predicted by Kalman filter algorithm. The prediction algorithm is used to compare the real-time predicted update position of the node with the actual position. The positioning distance error of the prediction algorithm is also enough to meet the practical application requirements.
