Eight fossil tetrapod footprints from lake-shore deposits in the Lower Jurassic Moenave Formation at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site (SGDS) in southwestern Utah cannot be assigned to the prevalent dinosaurian (, , , , ) or crocodyliform () ichnotaxa at the site. The tridactyl and tetradactyl footprints are incomplete, consisting of digit- and digit-tip-only imprints. Seven of the eight are likely pes prints; the remaining specimen is a possible manus print. The pes prints have digit imprint morphologies and similar anterior projections and divarication angles to those of , an ichnotaxon found primarily in eolian paleoenvironments attributed to eucynodont synapsids. Although their incompleteness prevents clear referral to , the SGDS tracks nevertheless suggest a eucynodont track maker and thus represent a rare, Early Mesozoic occurrence of such tracks outside of an eolian paleoenvironment.

Combining ability status of the inbred lines is crucial information for hybrid breeding program. Diallel or line × tester mating designs are frequently used to evaluate the combining ability. In the current study a modified diallel model was used, wherein the Griffing's combining ability effects were further partitioned to understand the effects due to maternal and reciprocal. To do this, eight parental lines of maize were crossed in full diallel method and the generated hybrids along with parents were phenotyped. The field data on the quantitative traits was analyzed using both Griffing's and the modified model to determine how well the parents' and the F hybrids combined. For each of the traits, a sizable reciprocal and maternal variance was observed. The number of kernel rows per cob variable had a ratio of additive variance to dominance variance greater than one. All other traits including grain yield had a ratio close to zero, suggesting that non-additive gene action was primarily responsible for the genetic control of most of the traits. The narrow sense heritability was low to moderate for majority of the variables, except for number of kernel rows per cob. With the help of the improved model, it was possible to choose superior parents and cross-parent pairings with accuracy. Based on the modified general combining ability effects and maternal effects, the parental line P5 was recognized as a potential female parent and P7 as a good male parent for grain yield and yield-attributing characteristics. The cross combination of P8×P1 had the highest specific combining ability effect on grain yield. P5×P6 cross had the highest reciprocal effect. The correlation analysis implies that the Griffing's general combining ability effects and specific combining ability effects were found to be less efficient in predicting F performance as compared to the modified model.

Polymer vitrimers are a new class of materials that combine the advantages of thermoplastics and thermosets. This is due to the dynamic nature of the chemical bonds linking different chains. However, how this property affects the polymer dynamics at different length scales is still an open question. Here, we investigate the dynamics of model vitrimers based on well-defined polyisoprene (PI) chains using broadband dielectric spectroscopy. In this way, we study the polymer dynamics from the segmental to the whole chain scale, taking advantage of the fact that PI belongs to the class of molecules that exhibit a net dipole moment associated with the end-to-end vector. Three distinct relaxation phenomena are identified. The fastest relaxation is attributed to the segmental PI dynamics with a small influence of the cross-linking. An intermediate relaxation attributed to the dipolar character of the cross-linker is also observed. The slower identified relaxation component, corresponding to limited fluctuations of the end-to-end PI chains, is found to be determined by the dynamics of the clusters formed by the cross-linkers with an average time scale orders of magnitude faster than that of the terminal relaxation as inferred from the viscous flow.

Sulfate-reducing microorganisms extensively contribute to the corrosion of ferrous metal infrastructure. There is substantial debate over their corrosion mechanisms. We investigated Fe corrosion with , the sulfate reducer most often employed in corrosion studies. Cultures were grown with both lactate and Fe as potential electron donors to replicate the common environmental condition in which organic substrates help fuel the growth of corrosive microbes. Fe was corroded in cultures of a hydrogenase-deficient mutant with the 1:1 correspondence between Fe loss and H accumulation expected for Fe oxidation coupled to H reduction to H. This result and the extent of sulfate reduction indicated that was not capable of direct Fe-to-microbe electron transfer even though it was provided with a supplementary energy source in the presence of abundant ferrous sulfide. Corrosion in the hydrogenase-deficient mutant cultures was greater than in sterile controls, demonstrating that H removal was not necessary for the enhanced corrosion observed in the presence of microbes. The parental H-consuming strain corroded more Fe than the mutant strain, which could be attributed to H oxidation coupled to sulfate reduction, producing sulfide that further stimulated Fe oxidation. The results suggest that H consumption is not necessary for microbially enhanced corrosion, but H oxidation can indirectly promote corrosion by increasing sulfide generation from sulfate reduction. The finding that was incapable of direct electron uptake from Fe reaffirms that direct metal-to-microbe electron transfer has yet to be rigorously described in sulfate-reducing microbes.

BACKGROUND
Vestibular migraine (VM), an intricate subtype of migraine, amalgamates the dual attributes of migraine and vestibular disorders. In clinical settings, individuals with VM frequently articulate concerns regarding the manifestation of subjective cognitive impairment. This cognitive dysfunction is intricately linked with diminished mobility, heightened susceptibility to falls, and increased absenteeism in afflicted patients. Consequently, comprehending the features of cognitive impairment in VM patients holds potential clinical significance. The pursuit of rapid and objective methods for detection and assessment is foundational and prerequisite for efficacious cognitive management of VM patients.
METHODS
The study encompassed 50 patients diagnosed with vestibular migraine and recruited 50 age-sex matched healthy controls. All participants underwent anti-saccade tasks, and cognitive evaluation was performed using the MMSE and MoCA to assess overall cognitive function. Additionally, RBANS scales were employed to measure specific cognitive domains.
RESULTS
The VM patients and normal controls demonstrated statistical parity in terms of age, gender, education, weight, and BMI, with no significant differences observed. Analysis of cognitive scores divulged a marked increase in the incidence of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) in VM patients compared to Healthy Controls (HCs). Both MMSE and MoCA scores were notably lower in VM patients compared to their healthy counterparts. The RBANS cognitive test indicated significant impairment in immediate memory, visuospatial construction, language, attention, and delayed memory among VM patients. Notably, the Trail Making Test and Stroop Color-Word Test revealed compromised processing speed and executive function cognitive domains. The anti-saccadic task highlighted significantly elevated anti-saccadic latency and frequency of direction errors in vestibular migraine patients. Symptom severity, illness duration, and episode frequency in VM patients positively correlated with counter-scanning errors and negatively correlated with cognitive performance across diverse cognitive domains.
CONCLUSION
VM patients exhibit cognitive decline across multiple cognitive domains during the interictal period. This cognitive impairment may not be fully reversible, underscoring its potential clinical significance for cognitive management in VM patients. The sensitivity of anti-saccade tasks to the cognitive status of VM patients positions them as promising objective indicators for diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation of cognitive impairment effects in VM in future applications.

Autophagy dysregulation is known to be a mechanism of doxorubicin (DOX)-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC). Mitochondrial-Endoplasmic Reticulum Contacts (MERCs) are where autophagy initiates and autophagosomes form. However, the role of MERCs in autophagy dysregulation in DIC remains elusive. FUNDC1 is a tethering protein of MERCs. We aim to investigate the effect of DOX on MERCs in cardiomyocytes and explore whether it is involved in the dysregulated autophagy in DIC. We employed confocal microscopy and transmission electron microscopy to assess MERCs structure. Autophagic flux was analyzed using the mCherry-EGFP-LC3B fluorescence assay and western blotting for LC3BII. Mitophagy was studied through the mCherry-EGFP-FIS1 fluorescence assay and colocalization analysis between LC3B and mitochondria. A total dose of 18 mg/kg of doxorubicin was administrated in mice to construct a DIC model . Additionally, we used adeno-associated virus (AAV) to cardiac-specifically overexpress FUNDC1. Cardiac function and remodeling were evaluated by echocardiography and Masson's trichrome staining, respectively. DOX blocked autophagic flux by inhibiting autophagosome biogenesis, which could be attributed to the downregulation of FUNDC1 and disruption of MERCs structures. FUNDC1 overexpression restored the blocked autophagosome biogenesis by maintaining MERCs structure and facilitating ATG5-ATG12/ATG16L1 complex formation without altering mitophagy. Furthermore, FUNDC1 alleviated DOX-induced oxidative stress and cardiomyocytes deaths in an autophagy-dependent manner. Notably, cardiac-specific overexpression of FUNDC1 protected DOX-treated mice against adverse cardiac remodeling and improved cardiac function. : In summary, our study identified that FUNDC1-meditated MERCs exerted a cardioprotective effect against DIC by restoring the blocked autophagosome biogenesis. Importantly, this research reveals a novel role of FUNDC1 in enhancing macroautophagy via restoring MERCs structure and autophagosome biogenesis in the DIC model, beyond its previously known regulatory role as an mitophagy receptor.

Cattle ranching is a fundamental economic activity in northern Peru, where proper management of water resources is crucial. This study, a pioneer in the region, evaluated water quality and its suitability for human consumption, vegetable irrigation, and livestock production. It is also the first study to document the presence of metals and metalloids in vulnerable areas because they are located at the headwaters of river watersheds. The spatiotemporal evaluation of physicochemical parameters, metals, and metalloids was performed in five micro-watersheds (Cabildo, Timbambo, Pomacochas, Atuen, and Ventilla) from water samples collected in the dry season (October 2017) and wet season (March 2018). The parameters were analyzed using microwave plasma atomic emission spectrometry. The results were contrasted with international and Peruvian quality standards related to dairy cow production. The highest values of pH, total dissolved solids, and electrical conductivity were reported during the dry season, and the highest turbidity during the wet season. Of the metals evaluated, arsenic (As) was omnipresent in all the micro-watersheds, followed by lead (Pb). In contrast to World Health Organization regulations, concentrations of As, cadmium (Cd), Pb, and iron represent a risk; according to Peruvian regulations, As and Pb exceed the concentrations established for use in animal drinking water and vegetable irrigation, and according to water guidelines for dairy cattle, concentrations of As, Pb, Cd, and Al exceed the permitted limits. The high concentrations of these metals in the study area are attributable to a synergy between natural factors, such as Andean geology and livestock activity. The data reported will allow for proper water resource management, pollution prevention, and the design and adoption of mitigation measures.

Microbes are a worthwhile organism of the earth that could be formulated as consortium which can be utilized as biofertilizers. Consortium-based bioinoculants or biofertilizers are superior to single strain-based inoculants for sustainable agricultural productivity and increased micronutrient content in yield. The aim of present study was to evaluate the effect of different combinations of beneficial bacteria that are more effective than single-based bioinoculants. The current work focuses on the isolation of rhizospheric microorganisms from various cereals and pseudocereal crops and the development of a single inoculum as well as a bacterial consortium which were evaluated on wheat crop. A total 214 rhizospheric bacteria were sorted out and, screened for mineral solubilizing attributes i.e., phosphorus, potassium, zinc and selenium solubilization. Among all the bacterial isolates, four potential strains exhibiting P, K, Zn and Se-solubilizing attributes were identified with the help of 16S rRNA gene sequencing as EU-A3Rb1, EU-A2RNL1, EU-C3SK2, and EU-WRSe4, respectively. The identified strains formulated as a consortium which were found to improve the plant growth and physiological parameters in comparison to single culture inoculants and control. To the best of our knowledge, the present investigation is the first report that has developed the consortium from bacterial strains EU-A3Rb1, EU-A2RNL1, EU-C3SK2, and EU-WRSe4. A combination of bacterial strains could be used as liquid inoculants for cereal crops growing in mountainous regions.

We report a semiconducting triindole-based discotic liquid crystal () functionalized with six -methylthiophenyl groups at its periphery. While initially a crystalline solid at room temperature, transitions to a columnar hexagonal mesophase upon heating and retains this supramolecular organization upon subsequent cooling, despite having only three flexible alkyl chains attached to the core's nitrogens. The incorporation of methylthio groups effectively hinders tight molecular packing, stabilizing the columnar arrangement of this disk-shaped molecule. Single crystal analysis confirmed the high tendency of this compound to organize into a columnar architecture and the role played by the methylthio groups in reinforcing such structure. The mesomorphic behavior of provides an opportunity for processing from its molten state. Notably, our research reveals significant differences in charge transport depending on the processing method, whether solution drop-casting or melt-based. shows hole mobility values averaging 3 × 10 cm V s when incorporated in diode-type devices from the isotropic melt and annealed at the mesophase temperature, estimated by SCLC (space-charge-limited current) measurements. However, when integrated into solution-processed organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), crystalline exhibits a hole mobility of 3 × 10 cm V s. The observed differences can be attributed to a beneficial supramolecular assembly achieved in the mesophase in spite of its lower order. These results emphasize the material's potential for applications in easy-to-process electronic devices and highlight the potential of methylthio moieties in promoting columnar mesophases.

Tender bamboo shoots undergo rapid senescence that influences their quality and commercial value after harvest. In this study, the tender sweet bamboo shoots ('Wensun') were packed by a passive modified atmosphere packaging (PMAP) to inhibit the senescence process, taking polyethylene package as control. The increase in CO and the decrease in O gas concentrations in the headspace atmosphere of the packages were remarkably modified by PMAP treatments. The modified gas atmosphere packaging inhibited the changes in firmness, as well as the content of cellulose, total pectin, and lignin in the cell walls of bamboo shoots. The enzymatic activities of cellulase, pectinase, and polygalacturonase that act on cell wall polysaccharides, and phenylalanine ammonia lyase, cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase, peroxidase, and laccase regulating the lignin biosynthesis were modified by PMAP treatment different from control during storage. The expression levels of the lignin biosynthesis genes , , , cellulose synthase , and related transcription factors , and were clearly regulated. These results suggest that PMAP efficiently retards the changes in lignin and cell wall polysaccharides, thus delaying the senescence of tender sweet bamboo shoots during storage.
