Measurement errors occur very commonly in practice. After fitting the model, influence diagnostics is an important step in statistical data analysis. The most frequently used diagnostic method for measurement error models is the local influence. However, this methodology may fail to detect masked influential observations. To overcome this limitation, we propose the use of the conformal normal curvature with the forward search algorithm. The results are presented through easy to interpret plots considering different perturbation schemes. The proposed methodology is illustrated with three real data sets and one simulated data set, two of which have been previously analyzed in the literature. The third data set deals with the stability of the hygroscopic solid dosage in pharmaceutical processes to ensure the maintenance of product safety quality. In this application, the analytical mass balance is subject to measurement errors, which require attention in the modeling process and diagnostic analysis.

In order to guarantee the information of the W-band wireless communication system from the physical layer, this paper proposes the sliced chaotic encrypted (SCE) transmission scheme based on key masked distribution (KMD). The scheme improves the security of free space communication in the W-band millimeter-wave wireless data transmission system. In this scheme, the key information is embedded into the random position of the ciphertext information, and then the ciphertext carrying the key information is encrypted by multi-dimensional chaos. Chaotic system 1 constructs a three-dimensional discrete chaotic map for implementing KMD. Chaotic system 2 constructs complex nonlinear dynamic behavior through the coupling of two neurons, and the masking factor generated is used to realize SCE. In this paper, the transmission of 16QAM signals in a 4.5 m W-band millimeter-wave wireless communication system with a rate of 40 Gb/s is proved by experiments, and the performance of the system is analyzed. When the input optical power is 5 dBm, the bit error rate (BER) of the legitimate encrypted receiver is 1.23 × 10. When the offset of chaotic sequence x and chaotic sequence y is 100, their BERs are more than 0.21. The key space of the chaotic system reaches 10, which can effectively prevent illegal attacks and improve the security performance of the system. The experimental results show that the scheme can effectively distribute the keys and improve the security of the system. It has great application potential in the future of W-band millimeter-wave wireless secure communication.

BACKGROUND
People's decisions to engage in protective health behaviors, such as mask wearing during the COVID-19 pandemic, are influenced by environmental and social contexts. Previous research on mask wearing used a single question about general mask usage in public, which may not reflect actual behavior in every setting. The likelihood of wearing a mask during one activity is also related to the likelihood of wearing a mask in another or avoiding an activity entirely. This analysis compared responses between a general question and activity-specific questions and identified patterns of mask-wearing behavior across activities.
METHODS
Online, opt-in, cross-sectional surveys were conducted every 2 months from November 2020 to May 2021 (n = 2508), with quota sampling and weighting to achieve a representative sample of the U.S.
POPULATION
Respondents were asked how frequently they wore a mask in public and during 12 specific activities including: on public transportation, while shopping, and attending social gatherings indoors and outdoors. Spearman's rank order correlation was used to compare the frequency of mask wearing reported using a general question versus an activity specific question. Additionally, a latent class analysis was conducted to identify patterns of mask wearing behavior across activities.
RESULTS
There was little to no correlation (r = .16-0.33) between respondents' general attitudes towards mask wearing and their reported frequency of mask wearing in different activities. Latent class analysis identified six distinct groups based on their mask wearing behaviors and avoidance of certain activities. The largest group (29%) avoided ten of the twelve activities and always wore a mask during activities that could not be avoided. Additional groups included those who avoided most activities but made exceptions when around friends or family (20%), part time mask wearers (18%), and never mask wearers (6%).
CONCLUSIONS
The findings suggest that activity-specific questions provide more accurate and useful information than a single general question. Specific, context based, questions allow for analyses that consider the nuances of people's decision-making regarding engaging in protective health behaviors, such as mask wearing, thus enabling public health professionals to create targeted guidelines and messages.

INTRODUCTION
Aesthetic emotions are a class of emotions aroused by evaluating aesthetically appealing objects or events. While evolutionary aesthetics suggests the adaptive roles of these emotions, empirical assessments are lacking. Previous neuroscientific studies have demonstrated that visual stimuli carrying evolutionarily important information induce neural responses even when presented non-consciously. To examine the evolutionary importance of aesthetic emotions, we conducted a neuroscientific study using magnetoencephalography (MEG) to measure induced neural responses to non-consciously presented portrait paintings categorised as biological and non-biological and examined associations between the induced responses and aesthetic ratings.
METHODS
MEG and pre-rating data were collected from 23 participants. The pre-rating included visual analogue scales for , , , and scores, in addition to ',' which was used for subcategorising stimuli into biological and non-biological. The stimuli were presented non-consciously using a continuous flash suppression paradigm or consciously using binocular presentation without flashing masks, while dichotomic behavioural responses were obtained (beauty or non-beauty). Time-frequency decomposed MEG data were used for correlation analysis with pre-rating scores for each category.
RESULTS
Behavioural data revealed that saliency scores of non-consciously presented stimuli influenced dichotomic responses (beauty or non-beauty). MEG data showed that non-consciously presented portrait paintings induced spatiotemporally distributed low-frequency brain activities associated with aesthetic ratings, which were distinct between the biological and non-biological categories and conscious and non-conscious conditions.
CONCLUSION
Aesthetic emotion holds evolutionary significance for humans. Neural pathways are sensitive to visual images that arouse aesthetic emotion in distinct ways for biological and non-biological categories, which are further influenced by consciousness. These differences likely reflect the diversity in mechanisms of aesthetic processing, such as processing fluency, active elaboration, and predictive processing. The aesthetic processing of non-conscious stimuli appears to be characterised by fluency-driven affective processing, while top-down regulatory processes are suppressed. This study provides the first empirical evidence supporting the evolutionary significance of aesthetic processing.

Introduction The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a shift in global lifestyles as individuals sought to safeguard themselves and their loved ones from the virus. This adaptation involved embracing a distinct way of life marked by social distancing, reduced outdoor engagements, and home confinement. Consequently, this period of quarantine led to diminished social interactions, challenges in accessing essential resources such as food, heightened unemployment rates, and increased burden on healthcare systems. Understandably, these circumstances gave rise to heightened emotions including fear, depression, and anxiety. In response to these dynamics, our research aimed to explore the psychological and behavioral shifts among medical students residing in Islamabad and Rawalpindi (the twin cities of Pakistan) during the year 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods A structured, self-administered questionnaire was constructed, based on previously conducted surveys, assessing the psychological impact and behavioral changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The questionnaire was made available online through Google Forms and was provided to students of the various medical colleges of the twin cities of Pakistan. The results were further stratified based on gender. Results Categorical data were collected from 400 medical students studying in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The negative psychological impact was shown by increased stress, 260 (65%), feeling of less energy, 211 (52.8%), and increased anxiety with upper respiratory symptoms, 202 (50.5%). Behavioral changes were also a reflection of the psychological changes depicted by an increased use of disinfectants, 256 (64%), increased desire to clean surfaces, 262 (65.6%), increased use of soaps and detergents, 300 (75%), reduced number of times one left their house 281, (70.3%), and decreased consumption of food products from outside, 226 (56.5%). When compared between the two genders, females had significantly increased stress levels (p=0.034), decreased food consumption from outside (p=0.026), and increased avoidance of people not wearing masks (p=0.001). Conclusion Through our study, we identified the various psychological and behavioral changes among our population due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our study not only highlights these changes but also discusses the various ways to address them. This study would help relevant organizations to understand the broader aspect of how this pandemic has affected individual lives and will also give them ideas regarding how to cater to these changes in a positive way.

BACKGROUND
Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an inflammatory disease of the nasal mucosa caused by certain allergens that may be found indoors or outdoors, and it greatly impacts the patient's quality of life. The COVID-19 epidemic offers an excellent chance to examine how using a face mask affects allergy.
AIM
The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of face mask wearing on AR symptoms among subjects living in the northern, southern, eastern, western, and central regions of Saudi Arabia.
SUBJECTS AND METHODS
This cross-sectional, survey-based study was undertaken in all Saudi Arabia regions in 2022. We included female and male adults living in Saudi Arabia who have AR and completed the Arabic version of an electronic self-administered questionnaire.
RESULTS
The overall received responses were 2252. According to the study eligibility criteria, we assessed the data of 470 participants who self-reported to have been diagnosed with AR. There was no significant change in the proportions of nasal symptoms severity before and after wearing face masks during the pandemic (p = 0.867), while a significant negative change was observed in the rates of moderate and severe ophthalmic symptoms (p < 0.001). The need for AR drugs was significantly increased during the pandemic (no need for drugs was reported by 45.3% before the pandemic and by 37.9% during the pandemic, p < 0.001). However, the use of AR drugs was significantly associated with the improvement of AR symptoms (p < 0.001); complete and partial eliminations of AR symptoms were higher with the use of masks during the pandemic (11.3% and 36.8%) than before the pandemic period (10.6% and 34.5%).
CONCLUSIONS
Face mask usage was not associated with improved symptoms or severity of AR. Wearing the masks was associated with increased severity of ophthalmic symptoms. The use of face masks was associated with a significant increase in the partial and complete elimination of AR symptoms with the use of AR drugs, particularly with the constant use of masks.

Chromosomal instability (CIN) is a hallmark of cancer that drives metastasis, immune evasion and treatment resistance. CIN results from chromosome mis-segregation events during anaphase, as excessive chromatin is packaged in micronuclei (MN), that can be enumerated to quantify CIN. Despite recent advancements in automation through computer vision and machine learning, the assessment of CIN remains a predominantly manual and time-consuming task, thus hampering important work in the field. Here, we present , a novel pipeline for automated and reliable quantification of MN of varying size, morphology and location from DNA-only stained images. In , single-cell crops are extracted from high-resolution microscopy images with the help of segmentation masks, which are then used to train a convolutional neural network (CNN) to output the number of MN associated with each cell. The pipeline was evaluated against manual single-cell level counts by experts and against routinely used MN ratio within the complete image. The classifier was able to achieve a weighted F1 score of 0.937 on the test dataset and the complete pipeline can achieve close to human-level performance on various datasets derived from multiple human and murine cancer cell lines. The pipeline achieved a root-mean-square deviation (RMSE) value of 0.0041, an R of 0.87 and a Pearson's correlation of 0.938 on images obtained at 10X magnification. We tested the approach in otherwise isogenic cell lines in which we genetically dialed up or down CIN rates, and also on a publicly available image data set (obtained at 100X) and achieved an RMSE value of 0.0159, an R of 0.90, and a Pearson's correlation of 0.951. Given the increasing interest in developing therapies for CIN-driven cancers, this method provides an important, scalable, and rapid approach to quantifying CIN on routinely obtained images. We release a GUI-implementation for easy access and utilization of the pipeline.

Sleep-wake disturbances frequently present in Veterans with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). These TBI-related sleep impairments confer significant burden and commonly exacerbate other functional impairments. Therapies to improve sleep following mTBI are limited and studies in Veterans are even more scarce. In our previous pilot work, morning bright light therapy (MBLT) was found to be a feasible behavioral sleep intervention in Veterans with a history of mTBI; however, this was single-arm, open-label, and non-randomized, and therefore was not intended to establish efficacy. The present study, LION (light vs ion therapy) extends this preliminary work as a fully powered, sham-controlled, participant-masked randomized controlled trial (NCT03968874), implemented as fully remote within the VA (target n=120 complete). Randomization at 2:1 allocation ratio to: 1) active: MBLT (n=80), and 2) sham: deactivated negative ion generator (n=40); each with identical engagement parameters (60-min duration; within 2-hrs of waking; daily over 28-day duration). Participant masking via deception balanced expectancy assumptions across arms. Outcome measures were assessed following a 14-day baseline (pre-intervention), following 28-days of device engagement (post-intervention), and 28-days after the post-intervention assessment (follow-up). Primary outcomes were sleep measures, including continuous wrist-based actigraphy, self-report, and daily sleep dairy entries. Secondary/exploratory outcomes included cognition, mood, quality of life, circadian rhythm via dim light melatonin onset, and biofluid-based biomarkers. Participant drop out occurred in <10% of those enrolled, incomplete/missing data was present in <15% of key outcome variables, and overall fidelity adherence to the intervention was >85%, collectively establishing feasibility and acceptability for MBLT in Veterans with mTBI.

PURPOSE
DRCR.net Protocol T data suggest the response to treatment among patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) may vary depending on baseline best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA). We evaluated the efficacy of faricimab 6 mg versus aflibercept 2 mg over 2 years in patients with DME enrolled in faricimab phase 3 trials with baseline Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) BCVA ≤20/50.
DESIGN
YOSEMITE/RHINE were identically designed, multicenter, randomized, double-masked, active comparator-controlled, noninferiority trials.
PARTICIPANTS
Adults aged ≥18 years with center-involving macular edema secondary to type 1 or 2 diabetes.
METHODS
Patients were randomized to faricimab every 8 weeks (Q8W), faricimab per a personalized treat-and-extend-based regimen (T&E), or aflibercept Q8W. Post hoc subgroup analyses were conducted using the intent-to-treat population with baseline BCVA ≤20/50 (ETDRS letters <69).
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES
Changes in ETDRS BCVA and central subfield thickness (CST) from baseline to years 1 and 2 were compared between treatment arms using mixed-model repeated measures analyses.
RESULTS
In YOSEMITE/RHINE, 220/217 patients in the faricimab Q8W; 220/219, faricimab T&E; and 219/214, aflibercept Q8W arms had baseline BCVA ≤20/50. In both trials, mean change in ETDRS BCVA was comparable between treatments at years 1 and 2. In YOSEMITE, adjusted mean (95% CI) change from baseline in CST (μm) at year 1 was greater with faricimab Q8W (-232.8 [-243.5, -222.1]) and faricimab T&E (-217.4 [-227.9, -206.9]) versus aflibercept Q8W (-190.4 [-200.9, -179.8]; P<0.0001 and P=0.0004, respectively). The pattern was similar in RHINE: faricimab Q8W, -214.2 (-225.3, -203.1); faricimab T&E, -206.6 (-217.4, -195.7); aflibercept Q8W, -186.6 (-197.7, -175.5); P=0.0006 and P=0.0116 for faricimab arms versus aflibercept, respectively. In both trials, change from baseline in CST at year 2 was greater with faricimab Q8W versus aflibercept. Median time to first CST <325 μm and first absence of intraretinal fluid was shorter in the faricimab arms versus aflibercept, with fewer injections on average.
CONCLUSIONS
In patients with DME and baseline ETDRS BCVA ≤20/50, faricimab treatment resulted in comparable visual acuity, greater reduction in retinal thickness, and fewer injections compared with aflibercept over 2 years of treatment.

The widespread presence of microplastics (MPs) in the air and their potential impact on human health underscore the pressing need to develop robust methods for quantifying their presence, particularly in the breathable fraction (<5 μm). In this study, Raman micro-spectroscopy (μRaman) was employed to assess the concentration of indoor airborne MPs >1 μm in four indoor environments (a meeting room, a workshop, and two apartments) under different levels of human activity. The indoor airborne MP concentration spanned between 58 and 684 MPs per cubic meter (MP m) (median 212 MP m, MPs/non-plastic ratio 0-1.6%), depending not only on the type and level of human activity, but also on the surface area and air circulation of the investigated locations. Additionally, we assessed in the same environments the filtration performance of a type IIR surgical facemask, which could overall retain 85.4 ± 3.9% of the MPs. We furthermore estimated a human MP intake from indoor air of 3415 ± 2881 MPs day (mostly poly-amide MPs), which could be decreased to 283 ± 317 MPs day using the surgical facemask. However, for the breathable fraction of MPs (1-5 μm), the efficiency of the surgical mask was reduced to 57.6%.
