Few studies have examined the relationship between pelvic size and the success or failure of trial of labor after cesarean delivery (TOLAC). Here we aimed to determine whether pelvic size and morphological data obtained from radiography contribute to the first successful TOLAC. This retrospective single-center observational study enrolled pregnant women who underwent TOLAC between 2010 and 2021. The results of X-ray pelvimetry data, including obstetric conjugate (OC), transverse diameter of the pelvic inlet (TD), anteroposterior diameter of the pelvic inlet (APD), shape of the pelvic inlet, and other obstetrical clinical data, were compared between the success and failure groups. Seventy-five patients in successful group after excluding 35 patients with previous successful TOLAC, and 21 patients in failure group were eligible. The failure group had a higher rate of previous cesarean sections due to failed labor trials (p = 0.042) and heavier newborns (p = 0.014). OC, TD, and APD on X-ray pelvimetry did not differ significantly between the two groups nor did the shape of the pelvic inlet affect the success rate for TOLAC. The generalized linear model identified a history of failed trials of labor as a significant predictor of failed TOLAC (odds ratio, 0.26; 95% confidence interval 0.071-0.923; p = 0.037), whereas no pelvimetric parameters were found. Pelvic size and morphological findings have no discernible impact on the outcomes of TOLAC. The universal application of X-ray pelvimetry in all women attempting TOLAC may not have significant clinical relevance.

Intussusception is a common cause of intestinal obstruction in infants aged 6-18 months. However, intussusception in preterm neonates (IPN) is an exceedingly rare disorder. The etiology of IPN remains unclear, but common prenatal injuries, such as those causing intestinal hypoxia/hypoperfusion, dysmotility, and strictures, have been proposed as possible contributing factors. Diagnosis is often delayed because the symptoms closely resemble those of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). Given the divergent treatments for IPN and NEC, establishing an early and accurate diagnosis is crucial. IPN is predominantly located in the small intestine (91.6%), and ultrasonography proves useful in its diagnosis. We present a case of a very preterm infant who developed intussusception triggered by acquired cytomegalovirus (aCMV) infection, necessitating surgical treatment. The cause of intussusception in this case was diagnosed as aCMV enteritis because no organic lesions were observed in the advanced part of the intussusception. The presence of CMV was confirmed by CMV-DNA-PCR examination of the resected intestinal tract. Intestinal edema and decreased intestinal peristalsis due to aCMV enteritis are likely the primary causes of the intussusception.

Oxygenation and Carbon Dioxide Rebreathing of a Well-fitting Non-rebreathing EcoLite™ Mask with a Reservoir: A Single-center Prospective Observational Study in Healthy Volunteers.
BACKGROUND
The fitting of oxygen mask affects the performance of it such as oxygenation or CO₂ elimination. The intersurgical EcoLite™ adult high-concentration oxygen mask (EcoLite with a reservoir, Intersurgical, UK) was developed to give well-fitting. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of EcoLite with a reservoir compared to the conventional mask.
METHODS
Ten healthy volunteers were included in this study. EcoLite with a reservoir and conventional mask were given to patients at different oxygen flow rates (5, 8, 10, 12, and 15 L/min). Fraction of inspiratory O₂ (FO₂) and partial pressure of inspiratory CO₂ (PCO₂) were measured by a sampling tube at the middle pharynx inserted via nose.
RESULTS
The EcoLite with a reservoir had a significantly higher FO₂ than the control reservoir mask. However, the PCO₂ was significantly higher in the EcoLite with a reservoir than in the control reservoir mask, especially when the oxygen flow rate was low.
CONCLUSION
The EcoLite with a reservoir provided improved oxygenation and a better fit than the conventional reservoir masks in healthy volunteers. However, the EcoLite with a reservoir might cause higher CO₂ rebreathing at low oxygen flow rates.

Olfactory neuroblastoma (ONB) is an uncommon malignant tumor and is usually treated by a multidisciplinary approach includes surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. A 62 years-old male had a tumor in the nasal cavity and diagnosed as ONB with Kadish A stage. Anterior skull base surgery was performed as radical treatment. Since the surgical margin was negative, no postoperative radiotherapy was administered. 14 years after the surgery, bilateral otitis media with effusion (OME) was occurred, we found the recurrence tumor at bilateral retropharyngeal lymph node (RPLN) which surrounded the internal carotid arteries. Since these were unresectable, we planned chemoradiotherapy which was 70Gy of intensity modulated radiotherapy combined with two courses of carboplatin and etoposide. The tumor volume was reduced and bilateral OME were improved. He has been alive for 3 years after salvage treatment. Although ONB has a relatively good prognosis, it is known to often cause cervical lymph node metastasis. Grades III and IV of Hyams classification are considered high risk. This case, initial tumor was limited in the nasal cavity and its clinical classification was early stage, but Hyams classification was grade III. In reference to this case, considering that RPLN metastasis are difficult to radically resect at the salvage surgery, including this area in postoperative radiotherapy was considered an option.

Patients with heart failure have difficulty recognizing and identifying changes in bodily sensations, despite the importance of symptom monitoring. The way patients with heart failure experience their bodies from exacerbation to recovery is poorly understood. We aimed to describe the lived bodily experience of heart failure from exacerbation to recovery. Participatory observations and interviews were conducted in seven patients admitted to the intensive care unit with worsening heart failure. Benner's interpretive phenomenology was used for analysis. Four major themes were identified: a non-functional body becomes the central concern and an object; being conscious of bodily changes before hospitalization when asked; the central concern shifted to daily life and the body becomes the background; and having a feeling of death in the body that no longer functions or a weakened body after recovery. This study found that patients with heart failure were conscious and concerned about their bodies changing as they underwent rapid changes during exacerbations and recovery. In addition, immediately after their bodies recovered and until they were discharged from the hospital, they looked toward their daily lives through their bodily experiences during heart failure exacerbation. The lived bodily experience of heart failure, which is less conscious in daily life, is made conscious through storytelling in the period immediately following recovery from an acute exacerbation and can be the basis for subsequent self-care exploration.

BACKGROUND
In-vivo diffusion tensor CMR (DT-CMR) is an emerging technique for microstructural tissue characterisation in the myocardium. Most studies are performed at 3T, where higher signal to noise ratio (SNR) should benefit this signal starved method. However, a few studies have suggested that DT-CMR is possible at 1.5T, where EPI artefacts may be less severe and 1.5T hardware is more widely available.
METHODS
We recruited 20 healthy volunteers and performed mid-ventricular short axis DT-CMR at 1.5 T and 3 T. Acquisitions were performed at peak systole and end-diastole using both stimulated echo acquisition mode (STEAM) and motion compensated spin-echo (MCSE) sequences at matched spatial resolutions. DT-CMR parameters were averaged over the LV and compared between 1.5 T and 3 T sequences using both datasets with and without the blow reference data included.
RESULTS
Eleven (1.5T) and 12 (3T) diastolic MCSE acquisitions were rejected as the helix angle (HA) demonstrated <50% normal appearance circumferentially or the acquisition was abandoned due to poor image quality; a maximum of one acquisition was rejected for other datasets. Subjective HA map quality was significantly better at 3T than 1.5T for STEAM (p<0.05), but not for MCSE and other DT-CMR quality measures were consistent with improvements in STEAM at 3T over 1.5T. When b data was excluded, no significant differences in mean diffusivity were observed between field strengths, but fractional anisotropy was significantly higher at 1.5T than 3T for STEAM systole (p<0.05). Absolute second eigenvector orientation (E2A, sheetlet angle) was significantly higher at 1.5T than 3T for MCSE systole and STEAM diastole, but significantly lower for STEAM systole (all p<0.05). Transmural HA distribution was less steep at 1.5T than 3T for STEAM diastole data (p<0.05). SNR in the b images was higher at 3T than 1.5T for all acquisitions (p<0.05).
CONCLUSION
While 3T provides benefits in terms of SNR, both STEAM and MCSE can be performed at 1.5T. However, MCSE is unreliable in diastole at both field strengths and STEAM benefits from the improved SNR at 3T over 1.5T. Future clinical research studies may be able to leverage the wider availability of 1.5T CMR hardware where MCSE acquisitions are desirable.

In this study, we provide a guide on single guide RNA (sgRNA) design, cloning sgRNA into plasmid vectors, single-cell isolation via transfection, and identification of knockout clones using next-generation sequencing. In addition, by providing the results of insertion into mammalian cell lines through next generation sequencing (NGS), we offer useful information to those conducting research on human and animal cell lines.

Epigenetic variations result from long-term adaptation to environmental factors. The Bos indicus (zebu) adapted to tropical conditions whereas Bos taurus to temperate conditions, hence the native zebu cattle and its crossbred (B indicus X B taurus) show differences in responses to heat stress. The present study evaluated genome-wide DNA methylation profiles of these two breeds of cattle that may explain distinct heat stress responses. Physiological responses to heat stress and estimated values of Iberia heat tolerance coefficient (HTC) and Benezra's coefficient of adaptability (BCA) revealed better relative thermo-tolerance of Hariana compared to the Vrindavani cattle. Genome-wide DNA methylation patterns were different for Hariana and Vrindavani cattle. The comparison between breeds indicated presence of 4599 significant differentially methylated CpGs (DMC) with 756 hyper-methylated and 3845 hypo-methylated in Hariana compared to the Vrindavani cattle. Further, we found 79 genes that showed both differential methylation and differential expression that are involved cellular stress response functions. Differential methylations in the microRNA coding sequences also revealed their functions in heat stress responses. Taken together, epigenetic differences represent potential regulation of long-germ adaptation of Hariana (B indicus) cattle to the tropical environment and relative thermotolerance.

In the current study, a novel crude polysaccharide (cNCEP) was extracted from N. commune Vaucher utilizing ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) with 60 % ethanol, employing response surface methodology. The optimal yield of cNCEP was determined to be 8.07 ± 0.08 mg/g, achieved through ultrasonic-assisted extraction under the conditions of a material-to-liquid ratio of 1:22, temperature of 56 °C, power of 570 W, and duration of 147 min. Subsequent purification of NCEP via Sephadex G75 resulted in a novel polysaccharide with a molecular weight of 20.466 kDa. NCEP exhibited significant scavenging activites against DPPH and hydroxyl radicals, as well as notable in vitro immunomodulatory properties. Furthermore, the mechanisms underlying the immunomodulatory effects of NCEP, involving enhancement of immunity, were investigated, revealing potential regulation of MAPK and TLR4-IRF7-NF-κB signaling pathways through RNA-Seq and Western blot analyses. These findings highlight the promising potential of NCEP as an organic immunomodulatory agent and functional food ingredient.

In this study, corn starch was used as the raw material, and modified starch was prepared using a method combining plasma-activated water and ultrasound treatment (PUL). This method was compared with treatments using plasma-activated water (PAW) and ultrasound (UL) alone. The structure, thermal, physicochemical, pasting, and functional properties of the native and treated starches were evaluated. The results indicated that PAW and UL treatments did not alter the shape of the starch granules but caused some surface damage. The PUL treatment increased the starch gelatinization temperature and enthalpy (from 11.22 J/g to 13.13 J/g), as well as its relative crystallinity (increased by 0.51 %), gel hardness (increased by 16.19 %) compared to untreated starch, without inducing a crystalline transition. The PUL treatment resulted in a whitening of the samples. The dual treatment enhanced the thermal stability of the starch paste, which can be attributed to the synergistic effect between PAW and ultrasound (PAW can modify the starch structure at a molecular level, while ultrasound can further disrupt the granule weak crystalline structures, leading to improved thermal properties). Furthermore, FTIR results suggested significant changes in the functional groups related to the water-binding capacity of starch, and the order of the double-helical structure was disrupted. The findings of this study suggest that PUL treatment is a promising new green modification technique for improving the starch structure and enhancing starch properties. However, further research is needed to tailor the approach based on the specific properties of the raw material.
