The aim of this systematic review is to determine whether Deep Learning (DL) algorithms can provide a clinically feasible alternative to classic algorithms for synthetic Computer Tomography (sCT). The following categories are presented in this study: MR-based treatment planning and synthetic CT generation techniques. Generation of synthetic CT images based on Cone Beam CT images. Low-dose CT to High-dose CT generation. Attenuation correction for PET images. To perform appropriate database searches, we reviewed journal articles published between January 2018 and June 2023. Current methodology, study strategies, and results with relevant clinical applications were analyzed as we outlined the state-of-the-art of deep learning based approaches to inter-modality and intra-modality image synthesis. This was accomplished by contrasting the provided methodologies with traditional research approaches. The key contributions of each category were highlighted, specific challenges were identified, and accomplishments were summarized. As a final step, the statistics of all the cited works from various aspects were analyzed, which revealed that DL-based sCTs have achieved considerable popularity, while also showing the potential of this technology. In order to assess the clinical readiness of the presented methods, we examined the current status of DL-based sCT generation.

Meta-Analysis Comparative Study Review
OBJECTIVE
To update evidence-based data comparing the efficacy and safety of high-dose dual therapy (HDDT) and bismuth-containing quadruple therapy (BQT) in eradicating Helicobacter pylori infection through meta-analysis.
METHODS
Multiple databases were systematically searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published up to May 18, 2023. Dichotomous data were evaluated using risk ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Subgroup analysis, sensitivity analysis, risk of bias assessment, and quality of evidence evaluation were performed.
RESULTS
Twenty RCTs containing 7891 subjects were included in the analysis. There was no statistically significant difference in H. pylori eradication rate between HDDT and BQT in the intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis (86.31% vs 84.88%; RR 1.02, 95% CI 1.00-1.04, P = 0.12). In the per-protocol (PP) analysis, the eradication rates for HDDT and BQT were 90.27% and 89.94%, respectively (RR 1.01, 95% CI 0.99-1.03, P = 0.44). Adverse events were significantly lower with HDDT than with BQT (RR 0.44, 95% CI 0.38-0.51, P < 0.00001). Patient adherence was significantly different between the two groups (RR 1.01, 95% CI 1.00-1.03, P = 0.02). Subgroup analysis based on antibiotic combinations within the BQT group showed a significantly higher eradication rate for HDDT than for BQT only when BQT used amoxicillin combined with clarithromycin (P = 0.0009).
CONCLUSIONS
HDDT showed comparable efficacy with BQT for H. pylori eradication, with fewer adverse effects and higher compliance. Due to regional differences, antibiotic resistance rates, and combined BQT antibiotics, more studies are needed for further validation and optimization of HDDT.

BACKGROUND
() infects over half the global population, causing gastrointestinal diseases like dyspepsia, gastritis, duodenitis, peptic ulcers, G-MALT lymphoma, and gastric adenocarcinoma. Eradicating is crucial for treating and preventing these conditions. While conventional proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-based triple therapy is effective, there's growing interest in longer acid suppression therapies. Potassium competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) triple and dual therapy are new regimens for eradication. Initially used in Asian populations, vonoprazan (VPZ) has been recently Food and Drug Administration-approved for eradication.
AIM
To assess the efficacy of regimens containing P-CABs in eradicating infection.
METHODS
This study, following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis by searching MEDLINE and Scopus libraries for randomized clinical trials (RCTs) or observational studies with the following command: [("" OR "H pylori") AND ("Treatment" OR "Therapy" OR "Eradication") AND ("Vonaprazan" OR "Potassium-Competitive Acid Blocker" OR "P-CAB" OR "PCAB" OR "Revaprazan" OR "Linaprazan" OR "Soraprazan" OR "Tegoprazan")]. Studies comparing the efficacy of P-CABs-based treatment to classical PPIs in eradicating were included. Exclusion criteria included case reports, case series, unpublished trials, or conference abstracts. Data variables encompassed age, diagnosis method, sample sizes, study duration, intervention and control, and eradication method were gathered by two independent reviewers. Meta-analysis was performed in R software, and forest plots were generated.
RESULTS
A total of 256 references were initially retrieved through the search command. Ultimately, fifteen studies (7 RCTs, 7 retrospective observational studies, and 1 comparative unique study) were included, comparing P-CAB triple therapy to PPI triple therapy. The intention-to-treat analysis involved 8049 patients, with 4471 in the P-CAB intervention group and 3578 in the PPI control group across these studies. The analysis revealed a significant difference in eradication between VPZ triple therapy and PPI triple therapy in both RCTs and observational studies [risk ratio (RR) = 1.17, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.11-1.22, < 0.0001] and (RR = 1.13, 95%CI: 1.09-1.17, < 0.0001], respectively. However, no significant difference was found between tegoprazan (TPZ) triple therapy and PPI triple therapy in both RCTs and observational studies (RR = 1.04, 95%CI: 0.93-1.16, = 0.5) and (RR = 1.03, 95%CI: 0.97-1.10, = 0.3), respectively.
CONCLUSION
VPZ-based triple therapy outperformed conventional PPI-based triple therapy in eradicating , positioning it as a highly effective first-line regimen. Additionally, TPZ-based triple therapy was non-inferior to classical PPI triple therapy.

INTRODUCTION
Chondrosarcoma is a rare malignant bone tumor. Particle beam therapy (PT) can concentrate doses to targets while reducing adverse events. A meta-analysis based on a literature review was performed to examine the efficacy of PT and photon radiotherapy for skull base chondrosarcoma.
METHODS
The meta-analysis was conducted using 21 articles published from 1990 to 2022.
RESULTS
After PT, the 3- and 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 94.1% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 91.0-96.2%) and 93.9% (95% CI: 90.6-96.1%), respectively, and the 3- and 5-year local control rates were 95.4% (95% CI: 92.0-97.4%) and 90.1% (95% CI: 76.8-96.0%), respectively. Meta-regression analysis revealed a significant association of PT with a superior 5-year OS rate compared to three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (p < 0.001). In the studies used in the meta-analysis, the major adverse event of grade 2 or higher was temporal lobe necrosis (incidence 1-18%, median 7%).
CONCLUSION
PT for skull base chondrosarcoma had a good outcome and may be a valuable option among radiotherapy modalities. However, high-dose postoperative irradiation of skull base chondrosarcoma can cause adverse events such as temporal lobe necrosis.

BACKGROUND
High-level evidence on hypofractionated proton therapy (PT) for localized and locally advanced prostate cancer (PCa) patients is currently missing. The aim of this study is to provide a systematic literature review to compare the toxicity and effectiveness of curative radiotherapy with photon therapy (XRT) or PT in PCa.
METHODS
PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases were systematically searched up to April 2022. Men with a diagnosis of PCa who underwent curative hypofractionated RT treatment (PT or XRT) were included. Risk of grade (G) ≥ 2 acute and late genitourinary (GU) OR gastrointestinal (GI) toxicity were the primary outcomes of interest. Secondary outcomes were five-year biochemical relapse-free survival (b-RFS), clinical relapse-free, distant metastasis-free, and prostate cancer-specific survival. Heterogeneity between study-specific estimates was assessed using Chi-square statistics and measured with the I2 index (heterogeneity measure across studies).
RESULTS
A total of 230 studies matched inclusion criteria and, due to overlapped populations, 160 were included in the present analysis. Significant lower rates of G ≥ 2 acute GI incidence (2 % vs 7 %) and improved 5-year biochemical relapse-free survival (95 % vs 91 %) were observed in the PT arm compared to XRT. PT benefits in 5-year biochemical relapse-free survival were maintained for the moderate hypofractionated arm (p-value 0.0122) and among patients in intermediate and low-risk classes (p-values < 0.0001 and 0.0368, respectively). No statistically relevant differences were found for the other considered outcomes.
CONCLUSION
The present study supports that PT is safe and effective for localized PCa treatment, however, more data from RCTs are needed to draw solid evidence in this setting and further effort must be made to identify the patient subgroups that could benefit the most from PT.

BACKGROUND
Resistance of Helicobacter pylori to many antibiotics, which lowers the efficacy of eradication therapy, is increasingly prevalent. High-dose proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-amoxicillin dual therapy (HDDT) has been used for H. pylori eradication for years, and resistance to amoxicillin is relatively rare. Although many studies have compared the eradication rate of HDDT with that of guideline therapies, the reported efficacy of HDDT varies greatly and is inconsistent.
AIMS
This study investigated the eradication rate and adverse effects of HDDT compared with the guidelines at the time of the study.
METHODS
Several open public databases, including Cochrane, EMBASE, PubMed, and MEDLINE, were searched. The results of the current literature on the eradication and adverse event rates of HDDT compared with the latest recommended first-line therapies were analysed. Notably, 14 out of the 16 included studies were conducted in Asian regions.
RESULTS
The eradication rate of HDDT was lower but not significantly different from those of control therapies (odds ratio [OR] = 0.92, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.67-1.26) in the intent-to-treat (ITT) analysis. A similar trend was observed in the per-protocol (PP) analysis (OR = 0.88, 95% CI = 0.47-1.63). Notably, the adverse effect risk in HDDT was significantly lower than in other therapies (I = 67.75%, OR = 0.42, 95% CI = 0.33-0.54, P = 0.00004). When the eradication rate of the control group was lower than 81%, HDDT was significantly better than control therapies (OR = 2.44, 95% CI = 1.23-4.84).
CONCLUSION
HDDT used four times a day for 14 days showed better efficacy and safety than the guideline treatments for H. pylori infection in areas with high antimicrobial resistance.

N-acetyl aspartate (NAA) is a marker of neuronal integrity and metabolism. Deficiency in neuronal plasticity and hypometabolism are implicated in Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) pathophysiology. To test if cerebral NAA concentrations decrease progressively over the MDD course, we conducted a pre-registered meta-analysis of Proton Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (H-MRS) studies comparing NAA concentrations in chronic MDD (n = 1308) and first episode of depression (n = 242) patients to healthy controls (HC, n = 1242). Sixty-two studies were meta-analyzed using a random-effect model for each brain region. NAA concentrations were significantly reduced in chronic MDD compared to HC within the frontal lobe (Hedges' g = -0.330; p = 0.018), the occipital lobe (Hedges' g = -0.677; p = 0.007), thalamus (Hedges' g = -0.673; p = 0.016), and frontal (Hedges' g = -0.471; p = 0.034) and periventricular white matter (Hedges' g = -0.478; p = 0.047). We highlighted a gap of knowledge regarding NAA levels in first episode of depression patients. Sensitivity analyses indicated that antidepressant treatment may reverse NAA alterations in the frontal lobe. We highlighted field strength and correction for voxel grey matter as moderators of NAA levels detection. Future studies should assess NAA alterations in the early stages of the illness and their longitudinal progression.

This systematic review was conducted with the objective of understanding the efficacy and safety of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) in the pediatric population. We used PubMed to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published between 1 June 2010 and 30 June 2023, performed in patients from birth to 18 years old with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) who received treatment with any PPI. This literature search yielded 76 articles and 13 of these met the inclusion criteria. For infants, PPIs were equal to placebos in reducing GERD symptoms in four articles. In one article, the numbers of GER episodes and esophageal acid exposures were lower in infants who received PPIs in the left lateral position, but there was generally no significant improvement in symptoms. In another publication, the combination of PPIs and feeding modifications (FMs) was not more effective than PPIs alone. For children and adolescents, PPIs were effective in improving symptoms and achieving endoscopic healing, which was subsequently maintained. To conclude, PPIs are not effective in reducing the symptoms related to GERD in infants but are effective in older children, where histological remission can be seen. Generally, PPIs are well tolerated, but it is important to remember the possible adverse events (AEs), especially if PPIs are used for an extended period.

A systematic review with meta-analysis: Efficacy and safety of potassium-competitive acid blocker compared with proton pump inhibitor in the maintenance of healed erosive esophagitis.
INTRODUCTION
Proton pump inhibitor (PPI) is the mainstay therapy for the maintenance of healed erosive esophagitis (EE). It is unknown whether potassium-competitive acid blockers (PCABs) are more efficacious and safer than PPIs.
METHODS
Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing PCABs to PPIs in the maintenance of healing rates of endoscopically proven healed EE and indexed in MEDLINE, EMBASE, and CENTRAL until 3 February 2024, were included. A fixed-effects model meta-analysis was performed to pool primary efficacy outcome (maintenance of healing rates at week 24) and safety data (any treatment-emergent adverse event or TEAE). The risk of bias was assessed using Cochrane's Risk of Bias 2 (RoB2) tool.
RESULTS
Four RCTs with a total of 2554 patients were eligible for inclusion. All trials were of low risk of bias. Compared to lansoprazole 15 mg, the maintenance rates of healed EE at week 24 were significantly higher with vonoprazan 10 mg (RR 1.13; 95% CI 1.07-1.19) and vonoprazan 20 mg (RR 1.15; 95% CI 1.10-1.21). Likewise, compared to lansoprazole 15 mg, any TEAEs were significantly greater with vonoprazan 20 mg (RR 1.10; 95% CI 1.01-1.20) but not vonoprazan 10 mg.
CONCLUSION
Vonoprazan 10 and 20 mg were superior to lansoprazole 15 mg in the maintenance of the healing of EE. Any TEAEs were greater with vonoprazan 20 mg.
