[Cp*Ir(R-pica)Cl] (Cp*=pentamethylcyclopentadienyl anion, pica=2-picolineamidate) complexes bearing carbohydrate substituents on the amide nitrogen atom (R=methyl-β-D-gluco-pyranosid-2-yl, 1; methyl-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosid-2-yl, 2) were tested as catalysts for formic acid dehydrogenation in water. TOF values over 12000 h and 50000 h were achieved at 333 K for 1 and 2, respectively, with TON values over 35000 for both catalysts. Comparison with the simpler cyclohexyl-substituted analogue (3) indicated that glucosyl-based complexes are much better performing under the same experimental conditions (TOF=5144 h, TON=5000 at pH 2.5 for 3) owing to a lower tendency to isomerize to the less active k-N,O isomer upon protonation. The 5-fold increase in TOF observed for 2 with respect to 1 is reasonably due to an optimal steric protection by the acetyl substituent, which may prevent unproductive inner-sphere reactivity. These results showcase a powerful strategy for the inhibition of the common deactivation pathways of [Cp*Ir(R-pica)X] catalysts for FA dehydrogenation, paving the way for the development of better performing hydrogen storage systems.

Vertebral artery dissections (VAD) pose a significant risk for strokes, particularly in young adults. This case report details the presentation and management of a 48-year-old patient who was diagnosed with an extracranial VAD following cervical spine manipulation (CSM). The patient's symptoms included acute right-sided ataxia, giddiness, vertigo, nausea, vomiting, and persistent pain behind the right ear, prompting immediate evaluation. After ruling out acute intracerebral hemorrhages, a computed tomography angiogram (CTA) of the head and neck identified a severe narrowing of the right distal vertebral artery with a string sign at the level of the right C1 loop (V3 segment), indicating an extracranial VAD. This finding was further supported when ultrasound (US) imaging revealed a high resistance flow pattern in the right distal vertebral artery. Furthermore, T2 and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) confirmed a 1.8 cm VAD/hematoma and a 1.4 cm acute/subacute infarct in the right posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) territory. This research accentuates the importance of recognizing and addressing that neck pain can be a symptom of musculoskeletal dysfunction or could have neurovascular origins. In this case, the patient's neck pain may have been musculoskeletal or could have been due to a previous dissection. Thus, differentiation should be considered before cervical spine manipulation.

OBJECTIVE
Hemifacial spasm (HFS) results from vascular compression at the root exit of the facial nerve. Although the underlying etiology has yet to be identified, it has been suggested that congenital vascular anomalies are involved. We have hypothesized common trunk anomaly of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) and posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) which may play a role in HFS. However, no previous studies have directly compared the incidence of this anomaly between HFS patients and normal subjects. The present study was designed to address this gap in the literature.
METHODS
This case-control study compared magnetic resonance angiography data from 65 HFS patients and 65 normal subjects. Dominant AICA/PICA is defined as the absence of PICA/AICA, with the remaining AICA/PICA supplying both vascular territories. The term "common trunk" encompasses both dominant AICA and dominant PICA. The frequency of common trunk and dominant AICA/PICA was compared between the 2 groups.
RESULTS
There were no significant differences in the incidence of a common trunk (68.5% and 64.6%), dominant AICA (30.8% and 32.3%) and dominant PICA (37.7% and 32.3%) between the 2 groups. Additionally, no differences were found in the frequency of atherosclerosis risk factors.
CONCLUSIONS
There was no apparent association between common trunk anomaly and HFS. It is suspected that some vascular anomalies other than a common trunk are involved in HFS.

Plastic pollution is becoming a global problem due to its ubiquitous occurrence and the impacts detected for many species. However, the research about plastics in nests of terrestrial bird species has remained relatively overlooked in comparison to those devoted to marine ecosystems. Here we study the occurrence and patterns of use of anthropogenic material in nests of two passerine birds, the Eurasian magpie (Pica pica) and the European serin (Serinus serinus), breeding in an orange tree cultivation in Mediterranean Spain. Our results show that both species use extensively plastic debris as nest material; almost 71% of the European serin nests and 96% of nests of Eurasian magpies contained plastic debris. Furthermore, by analyzing the plastic debris availability in the agricultural landscape surveyed we confirmed a selection pattern in the two species. Thus, both species preferably select plastic filaments over other plastic debris. The Eurasian magpie does not select plastic based on size or color but the European serin avoid black plastics prefer smaller fragments in comparison to the average size available. Moreover, we suggest the apparent similarity of plastic filaments with the natural materials typically used by these species, as well as how they use the plastic in their nests could influence their selection behavior. More studies focused on terrestrial birds inhabiting human modified habitats could offer a deeper approach to how plastic debris interacts with wildlife in different ways.

OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the 2-year course and outcomes of full and subthreshold avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) in youth aged 9 to 23 at baseline using a prospective longitudinal design to characterize the remission and persistence of ARFID, evaluate diagnostic crossover, and identify predictors of outcome. Greater severity in each ARFID profile-sensory sensitivity, fear of aversive consequences, and lack of interest-was hypothesized to predict greater likelihood of illness persistence, controlling for age, sex, body mass index percentile, ARFID treatment status, and baseline diagnosis.
METHOD
Participants (N = 100; age range, 9-23 years; 49% female; 91% White) were followed over 2 years. The Pica, ARFID, and Rumination Disorder Interview was used across 3 time points (baseline, year 1, year 2) to measure the severity of each ARFID profile and evaluate illness persistence or remission, and the Eating Disorder Assessment for DSM-5 was used to evaluate diagnostic crossover.
RESULTS
Across the 2-year follow-up period, half the participants persisted with their original diagnosis, and 3% of participants experienced a diagnostic shift to anorexia nervosa. Greater severity in the sensory sensitivity and lack of interest profiles was associated with higher likelihood of ARFID persistence at year 1 only; greater severity in the fear of aversive consequences profile was associated with higher likelihood of ARFID remission at year 2 only.
CONCLUSION
Findings underscore the distinctiveness of ARFID from other eating disorders and emphasize its persistence over 2 years. Results also highlight the predictive validity and prognostic value of ARFID profiles (ie, sensory sensitivity, fear of aversive consequences, lack of interest).

Extracranial vascular pathology uncommonly causes intracranial subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Among possible lesions are aneurysms at the craniocervical junction arising from a posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) with an extradural origin. We describe a case of a 55-year-old female presenting with a sudden and severe headache. A computed tomography scan revealed a SAH within the fourth ventricle and cervical spinal canal, and a ruptured saccular aneurysm on a PICA with extradural C2-origin. Despite difficult access anatomy, endovascular treatment was feasible and resulted in subtotal initial occlusion and preservation of distal PICA flow. Upon 3-month follow-up, the aneurysm was completely occluded with a patent PICA. The patient's clinical status remained stable at the 1.5-year follow-up. In conclusion, we present a rare case of an aneurysm originating from a PICA with extradural C2-origin that was treated endovascularly with preservation of the PICA.

BACKGROUND
IMAGE is a retrospective cohort study of patients enrolled in early access programs (EAPs) in France with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) receiving isatuximab with pomalidomide and dexamethasone (Isa-Pd).
METHODS
Patients aged ≥18 years with RRMM who received ≥1 dose of Isa under the EAPs between July 29, 2019 and August 30, 2020 were included. Effectiveness endpoints included progression-free survival (PFS) and response rates. Verbatim terms for adverse events (AEs) were coded using the Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities and not graded for severity.
RESULTS
A total of 294 and 299 patients were included in the effectiveness and safety populations, respectively. IMAGE included patients who received one prior line of treatment (10.2%) and were daratumumab-refractory (19.1%). At median follow-up of 14.2 months, median PFS in the effectiveness population was 12.4 months (95% CI 9.0-15.0). Overall response and very good partial response rates were 46.3% and 27.9%, respectively. Subgroup analyses reflected similar results. In the safety population, 26.4% of patients reported at least one AE; the most common any-grade AE was neutropenia (9.4%).
CONCLUSION
IMAGE demonstrated Isa-Pd had meaningful effectiveness in median PFS and depth of response and no new safety signals in a real-world context, consistent with clinical trial results.

BACKGROUND
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) extracellular volume (ECV) allows non-invasive detection of myocardial interstitial fibrosis, which may be related to diastolic dysfunction and left atrial (LA) remodeling in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). While the prognostic role of LGE is well-established, interstitial fibrosis and LA dysfunction are emerging novel markers in HCM. This study aimed to explore the interaction between interstitial fibrosis by ECV, LA morpho-functional parameters and adverse clinical outcomes in selected low-risk patients with HCM.
METHODS
115 HCM patients and 61 matched controls underwent CMR to identify: i) interstitial fibrosis by ECV in hypertrophied left ventricular LGE-negative remote myocardium (r-ECV); ii) LA indexed maximum (LAVi max) and minimum (LAVi min) volumes, ejection fraction (LA-EF) and strain (reservoir εs, conduit εe and booster εa), by CMR feature-tracking. 2D-echocardiographic assessment of diastolic function was also performed within 6 months from CMR. A composite endpoint including worsening NYHA class, heart failure hospitalization, atrial fibrillation and all-cause death was evaluated at 2.3 years follow-up. HCM patients were divided into two groups, according to r-ECV values of controls.
RESULTS
Patients with r-ECV ≥29% (n = 45) showed larger LA volumes (LAVimax 63 vs. 54 ml/m, p < 0.001; LAVimin 43 vs. 28 ml/m, p 〈0001), worse LA function (εs 16 vs. 28%, εe 8 vs. 15%, εa 8 vs. 14%, LA-EF 33 vs. 49%, all p < 0.001) and elevated Nt-proBNP (1115 vs. 382 pg/ml, p = 0.002). LA functional parameters inversely correlated with r-ECV (εs r = -0.54; LA-EF r = -0.46; all p < 0.001) and E/e' (εs r = -0.52, LA-EF r = -0.46; all p < 0.006). r-ECV ≥29% and LAVi min >30 ml/m have been identified as possible independent factors associated with the endpoint.
CONCLUSIONS
In HCM diffuse interstitial fibrosis detected by increased r-ECV is associated with LA remodeling and emerged as a potential independent predictor of adverse clinical outcomes, on top of the well-known prognostic impact of LGE.

Nowadays, the challenge is to transform dehydrated sewage sludge resulting from wastewater treatment plants from waste into resource. Following this objective, the sludge was further dried and submitted to X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR analysis. The sludge was first dried in ventilated and unventilated spaces at 50 C and 100 C, for 60 and 100 minutes (min) in each case. The final mass and evaporation degree of the sludge depends on the initial mass, ventilation type, drying time, and temperature. The ventilated drying space is preferred for temperature control, homogeneity, and higher evaporation degree. The influence of the drying process on the structure and behavior of the sewage sludge was emphasized through X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR analysis. The XRD shows good structural properties of the sludge samples given by the reduction of the particle size through evaporation. According to FTIR, evaporation influences the depolymerization of the silicate network. The hydroxyl units and metallic ion modifiers can improve the sludge structure, but its intensity decreases through evaporation. With high content of solid substance, and good relation between the composition of the sludge and its structure and behavior, the dried sewage sludge can be used in: (i) agriculture, (ii) construction, (iii) the energy sector.

Targeting proteins to specific subcellular destinations is essential in prokaryotes, eukaryotes, and the viruses that infect them. Chimalliviridae phages encapsulate their genomes in a nucleus-like replication compartment composed of the protein chimallin (ChmA) that excludes ribosomes and decouples transcription from translation. These phages selectively partition proteins between the phage nucleus and the bacterial cytoplasm. Currently, the genes and signals that govern selective protein import into the phage nucleus are unknown. Here, we identify two components of this protein import pathway: a species-specific surface-exposed region of a phage intranuclear protein required for nuclear entry and a conserved protein, PicA (Protein importer of chimalliviruses A), that facilitates cargo protein trafficking across the phage nuclear shell. We also identify a defective cargo protein that is targeted to PicA on the nuclear periphery but fails to enter the nucleus, providing insight into the mechanism of nuclear protein trafficking. Using CRISPRi-ART protein expression knockdown of PicA, we show that PicA is essential early in the chimallivirus replication cycle. Together, our results allow us to propose a multistep model for the Protein Import Chimallivirus pathway, where proteins are targeted to PicA by amino acids on their surface and then licensed by PicA for nuclear entry. The divergence in the selectivity of this pathway between closely related chimalliviruses implicates its role as a key player in the evolutionary arms race between competing phages and their hosts.
