The aims of this study were: 1) to describe the total muscular injuries, and specifically HSIs, and their corresponding missed matches; 2) to analyse their economic impact; and 3) to estimate the loss of incomes due to TV rights, in first division clubs from LaLigaTM depending on the expected and actual ranking position during the 2018/2019 season. To do that, a cross-sectional study for season 18/19 and for all players of the 20 Spanish professional football clubs was performed. The economic impact of injuries was estimated considering the missed matches and salary cost of all players and the audio-visual income loss was estimated considering the Spanish Royal Decree of Law (RDL 5/2015). The high number of muscular (270) and hamstring injuries (57) implies a high cost for professional first division football clubs, specifically € 365,811 per month for the former and € 47,388 per month for the latter. In addition, reaching a worse than expected position in LaLigaTM ranking involved a loss of 45,2 million € in TV rights incomes. The high cost of muscle injuries in first division teams justifies the need for multidisciplinary teams that are capable of reducing the number of injuries as well as recovery times.

BACKGROUND
Fifth metatarsal basis fractures are common injuries. Zone 1 fractures are also known as pseudo-jones fractures. This study aimed to elucidate the impact of foot radiologic morphology on pseudo-Jones fractures.
METHODS
Patients with pseudo-Jones fractures formed the case group and individuals with ankle sprains but no fractures formed control group. Weight-bearing anteroposterior and lateral radiographs were evaluated for pre-determined measurements: metatarsus adductus angle (MAA), intermetatarsal angles (1-2, 4-5), calcaneal inclination (CI) angle, and fifth metatarsal base angle. All measurements were performed by a single investigator using digital PACS tools. Statistical analysis compared these radiographic parameters between the groups.
RESULTS
The fracture group demonstrated a significantly lower 4-5 intermetatarsal and calcaneal inclination angles than the control group (p < 0.05). Notably, no statistically significant difference was found in the metatarsus adductus angle.
CONCLUSION
This study demonstrates a potential association between foot radiographic morphology and pseudo-Jones fractures. Patients with a lower 4-5 IMA and calcaneal inclination angle may be at a higher risk for developing pseudo-Jones fractures. However, these requires future prospective studies.

BACKGROUND
Musculoskeletal disorders are an important cause of work absence. Clinical practice guidelines recommend nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for grade I-II cervical sprains. The combination of thiamine + pyridoxine + cyanocobalamin vitamins has been used, alone and in combination with NSAIDs, for pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal disorders.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of this study was to demonstrate the analgesic synergy of dexketoprofen, and the combination of vitamins thiamine + pyridoxine + cyanocobalamin in a fixed-dose combination (FDC) for the treatment of acute pain caused by grade I-II cervical sprains.
METHODS
We conducted a multicentre, prospective, randomized, double-blind, phase IIIb clinical study comparing two treatment groups: (1) dexketoprofen 25 mg/vitamin B (thiamine 100 mg, pyridoxine 50 mg and cyanocobalamin 0.50 mg) in an FDC (two or more active ingredients combined in a single dosage form) versus (2) dexketoprofen 25 mg monotherapy (single drug to treat a particular disease), one capsule or tablet orally, every 8 h for 7 days. Final mean, average change, and percentage change in pain perception (measured using a visual analogue scale [VAS]) were compared with baseline between groups. A p value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Analyses were conducted using SPSS software, v.29.0.
RESULTS
A statistically significant reduction in pain intensity was observed from the third day of treatment with the FDC compared with monotherapy (- 3.1 ± - 1.5 and - 2.6 ± - 1.1 cm, respectively) measured using the VAS (p = 0.011). Regarding the degree of disability, using the Northwick Park Neck Pain Questionnaire (NPQ), statistical difference was observed for the final measurement (7.5%, interquartile range [IQR] 2.5, 10.5; vs. 7.9%, IQR 5.0, 13.8; p = 0.028). A lower proportion of adverse events was reported when using the FDC.
CONCLUSIONS
The FDC of dexketoprofen/thiamine + pyridoxine + cyanocobalamin vitamins demonstrated superior efficacy and a better safety profile compared with dexketoprofen monotherapy for pain treatment in patients with grade I-II cervical sprains.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) has traditionally been viewed as a specialized medical condition. However, its escalating prevalence among professionals across a multitude of industries has sparked substantial interest in recent years. This review aims to delve into CTS as an occupational disease, focusing on its epidemiological patterns, risk factors, symptoms, and management options, particularly emphasizing its relevance in professional environments. The complex interaction of anatomical, biomechanical, and pathophysiological factors that contribute to the development of CTS in different work settings underlines the critical role of ergonomic measures, prompt clinical identification, and tailored treatment plans in reducing its effects. Nevertheless, the challenges presented by existing research, including diverse methodologies and definitions, highlight the need for more unified protocols to thoroughly understand and tackle this issue. There's a pressing demand for more in-depth research into the epidemiology of CTS, its injury mechanisms, and the potential role of targeted medicine. Moreover, recognizing CTS's wider ramifications beyond personal health is essential. The economic burden associated with CTS-related healthcare costs, productivity losses, and compensation claims can significantly impact both businesses and the broader society. Therefore, initiatives aimed at preventing CTS through workplace interventions, education, and early intervention programs not only benefit the affected individuals but also contribute to the overall well-being of the workforce and economic productivity. By fostering a collaborative approach among healthcare professionals, employers, policymakers, and other stakeholders, we can strive towards creating safer and healthier work environments while effectively managing the challenges posed by CTS in occupational settings.

To describe the epidemiology of injuries in sub-elite female Australian Football (AF).
DESIGN
Prospective cohort.
METHODS
424 athletes were tracked across a 12-match season. Injury characteristics (location, severity, mechanism) were reported. Injury incidence (injuries per 1000 h) and injury burden (days absent per 1000 h) were calculated. Severity was considered as the number of days missed between injury onset and return to full training. Incidence was compared using incidence rate ratios, and severity using a Mann-Whitney U test.
RESULTS
Total injury incidence was 10.8 (95 % confidence interval [CI] = 9.0, 12.8) injuries per 1000 h. Match incidence was 34.6 (95 % CI = 28.0, 42.4) injuries per 1000 h. Ankle sprain injuries (2.2 per 1000 h, 95 % CI = 1.4, 3.1) and concussion (1.6 per 1000 h, 95 % CI = 1.0, 2.5) injuries were the most frequent, followed by anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries (0.9 per 1000 h, 95 % CI = 0.4, 1.6). ACL (40.4 days per 1000 h, 95 % CI = 36.9, 44.1), ankle sprain injuries (31.4 per 1000 h, 95 % CI =28.4, 34.7), and concussion (19.9 per 1000 h, 95 % CI = 17.5, 22.5) injuries were also the most burdensome. There were 78 mild, 34 moderate, and 21 severe injuries. ACL injuries were the most severe injury (56.0 [77.0] in-season days missed).
CONCLUSIONS
This research describes the first large-scale injury profile of sub-elite female AF, reporting time-loss measures of incidence and burden for many injury types. Ankle sprain injuries, concussions, and ACL injuries are common and burdensome, and should be prioritised for prevention.

Hip pain is a common concern among athletes. With gluteal tendinopathy, femoroacetabular impingement, and osteoarthritis predominating sports medicine and musculoskeletal practices, less common etiologies may be overlooked. Complex pelvic anatomy and variable pain referral patterns may make identifying an accurate diagnosis challenging. Employing a systematic approach to evaluation and having a thorough understanding of hip region anatomy are essential. A potentially overlooked cause of anterolateral hip pain is iliotibial band origin tendinopathy. Patients often present with pain around the anterolateral hip and tenderness to palpation at the anterolateral iliac crest. While patients with iliotibial band origin tendinopathy usually respond to nonsurgical intervention, there is little literature to guide evaluation and treatment, highlighting a gap in the recognition of this condition. The purpose of this narrative review is to describe the anatomy of the proximal iliotibial band origin, outline the clinical diagnosis and imaging findings of ITBOT, and summarize current treatment options.

A 72-year-old male presented for evaluation of a 2-wk history left buttock pain that began while playing pickleball. He sustained a left inversion ankle sprain while in a squatted position and landed on his left buttock. Four days after his injury, he developed extensive bruising involving his lower back, buttock, and left thigh. On examination, he had tenderness to palpation at the left side of the sacrum and in the region of the deep external rotators. Left hip range of motion was full in extension but limited to 90° of flexion, which reproduced left-sided buttock pain. External rotation provoked pain, but internal rotation was full and pain free. MRI of the pelvis demonstrated a grade 2 partial thickness tear of the left gluteus maximus muscle at its distal myotendinous junction with associated retraction and intramuscular hematoma. He was managed with compression with biking shorts, icing, acetaminophen, and physical therapy. He returned to pickleball approximately 4 wk after his injury, and at his 4-wk follow-up, he reported 99% improvement in his symptoms with the only remaining complaint being minimal discomfort with gluteal stretching.

Reduced dorsiflexion range of motion (DFROM) which is commonly seen following lateral ankle sprain (LAS) has the potential to influence lower extremity biomechanics which have been linked to increased injury risk in the female athlete. Current research on the effect of sex and LAS history on DFROM is limited.
HYPOTHESIS/PURPOSE
This study had three aims 1) to determine the effect of sex, leg dominance and LAS history on DFROM, 2) to determine the effect of sex and LAS history on magnitude of DFROM symmetry and 3) to examine the association of sex on direction (whether dominant or non-dominant limb had the higher DFROM) of symmetry.
STUDY DESIGN
Cross-Sectional Study.
METHODS
DFROM was measured bilaterally in 105 recreational athletes all participating in multidirectional sports using the tape measurement method during the weight bearing lunge test (WBLT). A mean of three measurements was used for analysis. A 3-way mixed ANOVA was carried out to determine the interaction between sex, LAS history and leg dominance on DFROM and a 2-way ANOVA for the effect of sex and LAS history on asymmetry. A chi-square test was used to determine the association of sex and direction of asymmetry.
RESULTS
The results indicate no significant effect of sex, LAS history, and leg dominance on DFROM (p=0.65). Main effects were significant for sex and LAS on DFROM. The mean asymmetry for all participants was reported as 12.25±14.76cm. No significant effect of sex and LAS history on magnitude of asymmetry was reported. There was a significant association of sex and direction of asymmetry (χ2(1) = 11.26, p = 0.00). Sixty-five-point two percent of males were shown to have higher DFROM of their non-dominant limb compared to 75% of females who were higher in their dominant limb.
CONCLUSION
Findings from this study suggest that DFROM is affected by sex and LAS history. While females have increased DFROM compared to males, those with LAS history are more likely to have a decreased DFROM on the involved side. The results also indicate that interlimb asymmetries in DFROM are present in athletes, therefore practitioners should exercise caution when using bilateral comparisons in injury and return to play assessments.

The accessory navicular (AN) is a common accessory ossicle of the foot. Once patients with ANs become symptomatic, they mostly complain of tenderness over the prominence, which occurs recurrently after a twisting sprain. The Kidner procedure is successful in alleviating symptoms. The excision of the AN is accompanied by rerouting of the posterior tibial tendon to the side of the medial aspect of the navicular. The purpose of this technical note is to report an all-inside endoscopic approach to achieve the Kinder procedure. As an endoscopic approach, the procedure has the advantages of better cosmetic results and less soft-tissue irritation; in addition, the broad ligamentous continuity is protected, the bony prominence is minimized, and sagging of the talonavicular joint is counteracted.
