According to WHO data, suicide is a public health priority. In particular, suicide is the fourth-leading cause of death in young people. Many risk factors of suicide are described, including individual-, relationship-, community-, and societal-linked ones. The leading factor is the diagnosis of mental illness. Nevertheless, not all people who attempt suicide are psychiatric patients; these characteristics help define high-risk populations. There are currently no useful biomarkers to indicate the risk of suicide. In recent years, neurotrophic factors have increasingly become of scientific interest. This review aims to summarize the current scientific knowledge on the correlation between BDNF and GDNF and suicide, to theorize whether neurotrophins could be a reliable marker for an early diagnosis of suicidal risk. The authors conducted a systematic review following PRISMA criteria. They found eight research papers in agreement with the inclusion criteria. According to the results of these studies, there may be a connection between BDNF brain levels and complete suicide, although there are discrepancies. A lack of interest in GDNF may suggest less involvement in the suicidal dynamic. Further studies may provide helpful information to researchers.

OBJECTIVES
To assess the diagnostic accuracy of non-invasive or minimally invasive autopsy techniques in deaths under 1 year of age.
DESIGN
This is a systematic review of diagnostic test accuracy. The protocol is registered on PROSPERO.
PARTICIPANTS
Deaths from conception to one adjusted year of age.
SEARCH METHODS
MEDLINE (Ovid), EMBASE (Ovid), CINAHL (EBSCO), the Cochrane Library, Scopus and grey literature sources were searched from inception to November 2021.
DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
Non-invasive or minimally invasive diagnostic tests as an alternative to traditional autopsy.
DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Studies were included if participants were under one adjusted year of age, with index tests conducted prior to the reference standard.Data were extracted from eligible studies using piloted forms. Risk of bias was assessed using Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2. A narrative synthesis was conducted following the Synthesis without Meta-Analysis guidelines. Vote counting was used to assess the direction of effect.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES
Direction of effect was expressed as percentage of patients per study.
FINDINGS
We included 54 direct evidence studies (68 articles/trials), encompassing 3268 cases and eight index tests. The direction of effect was positive for postmortem ultrasound and antenatal echography, although with varying levels of success. Conversely, the direction of effect was against virtual autopsy. For the remaining tests, the direction of effect was inconclusive.A further 134 indirect evidence studies (135 articles/trials) were included, encompassing 6242 perinatal cases. The addition of these results had minimal impact on the direct findings yet did reveal other techniques, which may be favourable alternatives to autopsy.Seven trial registrations were included but yielded no results.
CONCLUSIONS
Current evidence is insufficient to make firm conclusions about the generalised use of non-invasive or minimally invasive autopsy techniques in relation to all perinatal population groups.PROSPERO registration numberCRD42021223254.

Sildenafil is a medication used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1998. Several articles have raised concerns regarding the use of sildenafil and the occurrence of serious adverse events, such as myocardial ischemia, stroke, and even death. Our aim is to systematically review the existing literature on mortality associated with sildenafil use. The method used for this systematic review was completed by searching three databases: PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Articles were screened and assessed for eligibility. This review uses the articles found to address the concerns associated with sildenafil and mortality. A total of 19 reports were used in our systematic review, in which there were 10 case reports, two case series, three systematic reviews, one narrative review, one retrospective study, one article in the , and one commentary article. One FDA article in particular included case reports and reports to the FDA on the use of sildenafil eight months after its introduction to the market in 1998, with 522 deaths reported. Another retrospective study examined the use of sildenafil on infants below the age of 1 who did not have congenital heart disease but did suffer from severe pulmonary hypertension. The study found a mortality rate of 29%, which increased with sildenafil dosage. A case series examined six deaths related to non-prescription use of sildenafil. All these cases were subjected to autopsies and related to sexual activity. The study suggests that phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors induced the deaths, and the concentration of sildenafil in the femoral blood was found to be between 0.032and0.087 μg. To conclude, the literature available on this topic is deemed insufficient to provide enough data to establish a direct link of causality between sildenafil and mortality. Although some studies paint sildenafil as the culprit behind these deaths, further studies and research are needed to explain the unexpected deaths following sildenafil use.

BACKGROUND
Verbal autopsy (VA) has emerged as an increasingly popular technique to assign cause of death in parts of the world where the majority of deaths occur without proper medical certification. The purpose of this study was to examine the key characteristics of studies that have attempted to validate VA cause of death against an established cause of death.
METHODS
A systematic review was conducted by searching the MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane-library, and Scopus electronic databases. Included studies contained 1) a VA component, 2) a validation component, and 3) original analysis or re-analysis. Characteristics of VA studies were extracted. A total of 527 studies were assessed, and 481 studies screened to give 66 studies selected for data extraction.
RESULTS
Sixty-six studies were included from multiple countries. Ten studies used an existing database. Sixteen studies used the World Health Organization VA questionnaire and 5 studies used the Population Health Metrics Research Consortium VA questionnaire. Physician certification was used in 36 studies and computer coded methods were used in 14 studies. Thirty-seven studies used high level comparator data with detailed laboratory investigations.
CONCLUSION
Most studies found VA to be an effective cause of death assignment method and compared VA cause of death to a high-quality established cause of death. Nonetheless, there were inconsistencies in the methodologies of the validation studies, and many used poor quality comparison cause of death data. Future VA validation studies should adhere to consistent methodological criteria so that policymakers can easily interpret the findings to select the most appropriate VA method.

INTRODUCTION
An emerging public health issue is brought on by the worldwide increase of thyroid nodules (TNs). The goal of the current study is to determine the global prevalence of TNs among the general population.
METHODS
We screened articles published from January 2000 to May 2022. TN prevalence was calculated with the DerSimonian-Laird random effects model with arcsine transformation.
RESULTS
A total of 20,358 entries were found in our research, and 102 of them met our inclusion criteria. A total of 9,276,178 individuals have been diagnosed as TNs; the overall prevalence was 24.83% (95% CI 21.44-28.55), regardless of the diagnostic techniques. TNs have become more prevalent during 2012-2022 (29.29%) compared with 2000-2011 (21.53%, = 0.02). In addition, we discovered that women (36.51%) were more likely to have TNs than men (23.47%, < 0.01). Interestingly, we found that obesity was correlated with the prevalence of TNs. Additionally, age-specific-stratified TN prevalence was found in our results.
DISCUSSION
This meta-analysis shows that, regardless of country development and economic status, TNs are spreading more widely over the world. Our findings showed a strong correlation between rising TN prevalence and older age, female sex, and elevated weight. To stop the TN epidemic from spreading over the world, increased awareness, the understanding of the disease, and quick action are required.

The use of illicit and non-illicit substances is widespread in suicides. The toxicological data may help in understanding the mechanism of death. This systematic review aimed to analyze autopsies related to suicides by consuming poison, focusing on the correlation between substance use and the country of origin to create an alarm bell to indicate that suicide maybe attempted and prevent it. The systematic review was conducted according to the PRISMA guidelines, with the primary objective of identifying autopsies conducted in cases of suicide by consuming poison in specific geographic areas. Significant differences in substances were observed between low-income and Western countries that confirm previous literature data. In rural areas and Asian countries, most suicides by consuming poison involve the use of pesticides, such as organophosphates and carbamates. In Western countries, illicit drugs and medically prescribed drugs are the leading cause of suicide by self-poisoning. Future research should shed light on the correlation between social, medical, and demographic characteristics and the autopsy findings in suicides by self-poisoning to highlight the risk factors and implement tailored prevention programs worldwide. Performing a complete autopsy on a suspected suicide by self-poisoning could be essential in supporting worldwide public health measures and policy makers. Therefore, complete autopsies in such cases must be vigorously promoted.

Evidence of micro- and macro-thrombi in the arteries and veins of critically ill COVID-19 patients and in autopsies highlight the occurrence of COVID-19-associated coagulopathy (CAC). Clinical findings of critically ill COVID-19 patients point to various mechanisms for CAC; however, the definitive underlying cause is unclear. Multiple factors may contribute to the prothrombotic state in patients with COVID-19. Aberrant expression of tissue factor (TF), an initiator of the extrinsic coagulation pathway, leads to thrombotic complications during injury, inflammation, and infections. Clinical evidence suggests that TF-dependent coagulation activation likely plays a role in CAC. Multiple factors could trigger abnormal TF expression and coagulation activation in patients with severe COVID-19 infection. Proinflammatory cytokines that are highly elevated in COVID-19 (IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α) are known induce TF expression on leukocytes (e.g. monocytes, macrophages) and non-immune cells (e.g. endothelium, epithelium) in other conditions. Antiphospholipid antibodies, TF-positive extracellular vesicles, pattern recognition receptor (PRR) pathways and complement activation are all candidate factors that could trigger TF-dependent procoagulant activity. In addition, coagulation factors, such as thrombin, may further potentiate the induction of TF via protease-activated receptors on cells. In this systematic review, with other viral infections, we discuss potential mechanisms and cell-type-specific expressions of TF during SARS-CoV-2 infection and its role in the development of CAC.

Effective prevention of suicide requires a comprehensive understanding of risk factors.
STUDY SELECTION AND ANALYSIS
Five databases were systematically searched to identify psychological autopsy studies (published up to February 2022) that reported on risk factors for suicide mortality among adults in the general population. Effect sizes were pooled as odds ratios (ORs) using random-effects models for each risk factor examined in at least three independent samples.
FINDINGS
A total of 37 case-control studies from 23 countries were included, providing data on 40 risk factors in 5633 cases and 7101 controls. The magnitude of effect sizes varied substantially both between and within risk factor domains. Clinical factors had the strongest associations with suicide, including any mental disorder (OR=13.1, 95% CI 9.9 to 17.4) and a history of self-harm (OR=10.1, 95% CI 6.6 to 15.6). By comparison, effect sizes were smaller for other domains relating to sociodemographic status, family history, and adverse life events (OR range 2-5).
CONCLUSIONS
A wide range of predisposing and precipitating factors are associated with suicide among adults in the general population, but with clear differences in their relative strength.

The outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) started in December 2019. An immediate prevention approach for the outbreak is the development of a vaccination program. Despite a growing number of publications showing the effectiveness of vaccination in preventing SARS-CoV-2 outbreak and reducing the mortality rate, substantial fatal adverse effects were reported after vaccination. Confirmation of the causal relationship of death is required to reimburse under the national vaccination program and could provide a reference for the selection of vaccination. However, a lack of guidelines in the laboratory study and autopsy approach hampered the investigation of post-vaccination death. In this paper, we performed a systematic electronic search on scientific articles related to severe Covid-19 vaccination adverse effects and approaches in identifying the severe side effects using PubMed and Cochrane libraries. A summary on the onset, biochemistry changes and histopathological analyzes of major lethally side effects post-vaccination were discussed. Ultimately, a checklist is suggested to improve the quality of investigation.

BACKGROUND
People with dementia die prematurely. Identifying differences in mortality rates between different types of dementia might aid in the development of preventive interventions for the most vulnerable populations. The aim of this study was to compare the difference in mortality rates between individuals without dementia and individuals with various types of dementia.
METHODS
For this systematic review and meta-analysis, we did a systematic search of MEDLINE, PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library from inception to July 11, 2020, for cross-sectional or cohort studies that assessed mortality and survival-related outcomes among people with different types of dementia compared with people without dementia. Single-arm studies without comparison groups and autopsy studies or family studies that used a selected sample were excluded. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used by two authors (D-JL and C-SC) independently to measure the methodological quality of included studies, and two authors (F-CY and P-TT) independently extracted data. We assessed differences in all-cause mortality rate and survival time from dementia diagnosis between individuals without dementia, individuals with Alzheimer's disease, and individuals with non-Alzheimer's disease dementias. The secondary outcomes were age at death and survival time from disease onset. Random-effects meta-analyses were done. Effect sizes included hazard ratios (HRs) and mean differences (MDs) with 95% CIs. Potential moderators, including age-associated moderators, were identified through meta-regression and subgroup analyses. This study is registered with PROSPERO, CRD42020198786.
FINDINGS
Our database search identified 11 973 records, and we included 78 eligible studies in our analyses, encompassing 63 125 individuals with dementia and 152 353 controls. Individuals with any type of dementia had a higher mortality rate than individuals without dementia (HR 5·90, 95% CI 3·53 to 9·86), and the HR for all-cause mortality was highest for Lewy body dementia (17·88, 5·87 to 54·46). After diagnosis, the mean survival time for people with Alzheimer's disease was 5·8 years (SD 2·0). Compared with people with Alzheimer's disease, a diagnosis of any non-Alzheimer's disease dementia was associated with a higher risk of all-cause mortality (HR 1·33, 1·21 to 1·46), a shorter survival time from diagnosis (MD -1·12 years, 95% CI -1·52 to -0·72), and a younger age at death (-1·76 years, -2·66 to -0·85). Survival time from disease onset was also shorter in people with non-Alzheimer's dementia, across types, compared with people with Alzheimer's disease, but the subgroup analysis revealed that this difference was only significant for vascular dementia (MD -1·27 years, -1·90 to -0·65) and dementia with Lewy bodies (MD -1·06 years, -1·68 to -0·44). The interactions between age and several survival-related outcomes were significant. 39 (50%) of the 78 included studies were rated as good quality, and large heterogeneity (I>75%) was observed for most of the study outcomes.
INTERPRETATION
Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia and one of the major causes of mortality worldwide. However, the findings from the current study suggest that non-Alzheimer's disease dementias were associated with higher morality rates and shorter life expectancy than Alzheimer's disease. Developing tailored treatment and rehabilitation programmes for different types of dementia is important for mental health providers, patients, and their families.
