The ascending pharyngeal artery (APA) travels with the parapharyngeal internal carotid artery (pICA) in the parapharyngeal space (PPS). This study aimed to investigate the anatomical variations of the APA, and to explore their implications for endoscopic surgery in the PPS. Dissection of the APA in the PPS was performed on 10 cadaveric specimens (20 sides). The relationship between APA and PPS tumors was retrospectively reviewed in 20 patients, attempting to ascertain the APA during the resection of 10 pre-styloid and 10 retro-styloid PPS tumors. During the cadaveric dissections, the APA was identified at the medial, posteromedial, or bilateral aspects of the pICA in 12 (60%) and 4 (20%) sides, respectively. In the remaining 4 sides (20%), the APA branched into several subcategory arteries lying at the medial and lateral aspects of the pICA. Branches of the APA were observed in 13/20 sides (65%). Two branches were found in 9/13 sides and 3 branches in 4/13, respectively. The APA was only identifiable in 1/10 (10%) of pre-styloid tumors, a patient with basal cell adenoma. In contrast, the APA was encountered surrounding the pICA in 8/10 (80%) of patients with retro-styloid tumors, all of which were schwannomas. No inadvertent injury of the APA or the pICA occurred in this cohort. With identification of the ascending pharyngeal artery on preoperative magnetic resonance imaging, it may serve as an additional landmark during the endoscopic extirpation of tumors arising in the PPS.

A measurement of time-dependent CP violation in the decays of B^{0} and B[over ¯]^{0} mesons to the final states J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0}, ψ(2S)(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0} and J/ψ(→e^{+}e^{-})K_{S}^{0} with K_{S}^{0}→π^{+}π^{-} is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the LHCb detector. The CP-violation parameters are measured to be S_{ψK_{S}^{0}}=0.717±0.013(stat)±0.008(syst) and C_{ψK_{S}^{0}}=0.008±0.012(stat)±0.003(syst). This measurement of S_{ψK_{S}^{0}} represents the most precise single measurement of the CKM angle β to date and is more precise than the current world average. In addition, measurements of the CP-violation parameters of the individual channels are reported and a combination with the LHCb Run 1 measurements is performed.

Adult ingestion of foreign bodies in the digestive system is a common clinical challenge, often involving mentally impaired individuals, criminals, and drug dealers or occurring accidentally. Encounters with multiple sharp foreign bodies are infrequent and pose significant risks, including gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, perforation, internal fistulas, and infection. The choice between endoscopy and emergency surgery for removal is contentious, with the less invasive endoscopy typically favored as the first line of management, depending on the foreign body's location and endoscopic accessibility. The current literature on the treatment of numerous sharp foreign bodies is sparse. This case report illustrates the successful endoscopic removal of a large quantity of sharp foreign bodies (35 half blades) from the upper GI tract, utilizing various extraction tools. It also aims to contribute to the existing literature regarding management strategies for ingested sharp foreign bodies. A comprehensive account is provided of the clinical presentation, imaging studies, consultations, and endoscopic procedures performed, culminating in the patient's safe discharge from our facility.

Relationship of self-reported pica and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder symptomology with dimensions of impulsivity, perceived stress among Pakistani University students.
INTRODUCTION
Pica and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder are two of the three new eating and feeding disorders introduced in the DSM-5, this inclusion has drawn attention to the immediate need for research into their prevalence, diagnostic assessment, underlying risk factors and optimal treatment. There are very few studies available that explored the predictors or causes of these eating disorders specifically in Pakistani context.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the current study include (a) to estimate the presence of pica and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder symptomology among young adults in Pakistan, (b) to examine the relationship between dimensions of impulsivity, stress and presence of pica and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, (c) to explore the mediation role of stress.
METHODS
The sample consisted of 660 young adults with age range 18-25 years, recruited through convenient sampling. The respondents were provided with a questionnaire comprising of an informed consent, a demographic information sheet and self-report measures including PARDI-AR-Q to assess symptomology of pica and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, UPPS-P Impulsive Behaviour Scale to assess dimensions of impulsivity and Perceived Stress Scale to measure perceived stress.
RESULTS
The findings show that 28 participants (4.2%) reported Pica symptomology, of which eleven participants indicated that they currently consume more than one non-food item. 19 respondents (2.8%) reported avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder symptomology. 13 respondents reported varying degrees of all three symptom clusters namely sensory based food avoidance, lack of interest in food, and fear of negative consequences of eating. Additionally, each of the dimensions of impulsivity was found to be positively correlated to the presence of pica and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder. Perceived stress was identified as a mediating factor between each of the dimensions of impulsivity and presence of pica and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder.
CONCLUSION
Although current study focused on a particular age range, it has drawn attention to the necessity of screening and investigating other strata of Pakistani population for pica and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder. The clinical utility of the present research resided in the identification of factors associated with pica and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, an information which can be used to tailor psychological interventions, modify existing ones, and inform the future research on evidence-based treatment.

Isolated ipsilateral abducens nerve palsy and contralateral homonymous hemianopsia associated with unruptured posterior cerebral artery aneurysm: A rare neurological finding.
Cranial nerve palsies can be presenting signs of intracranial aneurysms. There is a classic pairing between an aneurysmal vessel and adjacent nerves leading to cranial neuropathy. Isolated abducens nerve palsy can be a localizing sign of an unruptured vertebrobasilar circulation aneurysm. Aneurysms involving Anterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery (AICA) and Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery (PICA) have been reported to be associated with abducens nerve palsy. The symptoms in unruptured aneurysms are due to the mass effect on adjacent neurovascular structures. Most of the abducens nerve palsy resolves following microsurgical clipping. Here, we present a rare case of an unruptured Posterior Cerebral Artery (PCA) aneurysm presenting with abducens nerve palsy and diplopia associated with contralateral hemianopsia which markedly improved following endovascular coil embolization.

BACKGROUND
Kinetic sand is a type of play sand that is marketed to children above the age of three years old. It is comprised of sand coated with silicone oil, holding its shape when squeezed or pressed. It is described as a non-toxic, hypoallergenic, safe sand for arts and crafts, and is highly appealing due to its realistic appearance and odor. We present the first reported case of bowel obstruction due to small and large bowel intussusceptions caused by ingestion of kinetic sand leading to hospitalization for medical treatment in a young girl.
CASE DESCRIPTION
We present a two-year-old female patient with a past medical history of autism, trichotillomania, and pica who presented to our hospital as a transfer for two days of abdominal pain and non-bloody bilious emesis. Radiographic workup included abdominal ultrasound, abdominal X-ray, and computed tomography that revealed both small bowel intussusceptions and colo-colonic intussusception. Fluoroscopic gastrografin enema was performed and yielded free reflux of contrast into the distal ileum. The admitted patient continued to pass the sand with an eventual resolution of abdominal pain.
CONCLUSIONS
Intussusception is considered a medical emergency and should be treated as soon as possible before potentially fatal complications occur. This report serves to highlight the potential dangers of kinetic sand ingestion and provide guidance for the management of intussusception and bowel obstruction after kinetic sand ingestion in the pediatric population.

BACKGROUND
Iron deficiency is a critical global health issue. One of the intriguing manifestations linked to iron deficiency is the presence of pica. The physiological relationship between the senses of smell and taste suggests that pica may be accompanied by an inclination towards the smell of earth (geosmin). The smell of geosmin is distinct and generally recognized as a pleasing scent. The objective of this study is to explore this potential association. The sign of liking the smell of earth will now be referred to as "geosminophilia", for the first time, in this study.
METHODS
Patients aged 18 years and above who visited the Iron Deficiency Outpatient Clinic between September 2021 and August 2022 were chosen for this cross-sectional study. The dataset excluded those with ferritin concentrations over 100 mcg/L and transferrin saturation over 45%. Demographics, presence of pica, history of geosminophilia, and laboratory findings were documented in physical and digital patient data. The descriptive statistics, chi-square test, and independent group comparison tests were performed.
RESULTS
With a mean age of 38.7±11.7 years, the study sample comprised 280 patients, of which 263 were female and 17 were male. Ninety-six patients (34.3%) had geosminophilia, while 29 patients (10.4%) had pica. The only factors that significantly distinguished the groups based on the presence of geosminophilia were gender (p=0.04) and age (p=0.02). Using the chi-square test to compare the presence of pica and geosminophilia, a statistically significant relationship was identified (p<0.001). Additionally, 72.4% of patients who presented with pica had geosminophilia. Pica was absent in 96% of patients who did not have geosminophilia. A total of 93.8% (15/16) of pica cases with geophagia subtype exhibited the presence of geosminophilia. A significant correlation (r=0.27, p<0.001) was also observed between geosminophilia and pica.
CONCLUSION
In iron deficiency patients, geosminophilia and the presence of pica may accompany each other. Therefore, geosminophilia has the potential to be a new symptom of iron deficiency.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can be associated with eating problems. However, currently, there is a lack of established guidelines for assessing and addressing eating behaviors in individuals with ASD. This gap in research exists due to the challenges associated with using traditional assessment methods, which may lead to discrepancies in responses and unintentional potential biases from caregivers. In this review, we provided a comprehensive overview of various eating behaviors commonly observed in individuals with ASD. These behaviors include 1) food neophobia, 2) selective eating, 3) binge eating, 4) food avoidance, 5) chewing and swallowing problems, 6) pica, 7) rumination, 8) rituals, and 9) problematic behaviors. Furthermore, we provide a perspective of utilizing digital tools: 1) augmentative and alternative communication; 2) ecological momentary assessment; and 3) video analysis, behavioral analysis, and facial expression analysis. This review explores existing assessment methods and suggests novel assessment aiding together.

Motions sickness (MS) occurs when the brain receives conflicting sensory signals from vestibular, visual and proprioceptive systems about a person's ongoing position and/or motion in relation to space. MS is typified by symptoms such as nausea and emesis and implicates complex physiological aspects of sensations and sensorimotor reflexes. Use of animal models has been integral to unraveling the physiological causality of MS. The commonly used rodents (rat and mouse), albeit lacking vomiting reflex, reliably display phenotypic behaviors of pica (eating of non-nutritive substance) and conditioned taste aversion (CTAver) or avoidance (CTAvoi) which utilize neural substrates with pathways that cause gastrointestinal malaise akin to nausea/emesis. As such, rodent pica and CTAver/CTAvoi have been widely used as proxies for nausea/emesis in studies dealing with neural mechanisms of nausea/emesis and MS, as well as for evaluating therapeutics. This review presents the rationale and experimental evidence that support the use of pica and CTAver/CTAvoi as indices for nausea and emesis. Key experimental steps and cautions required when using rodent MS models are also discussed. Finally, future directions are suggested for studying MS with rodent pica and CTAver/CTAvoi models.
