BACKGROUND
Although exercise benefits female cancer survivors, clinical decision-making regarding timing, frequency, duration, and intensity is lacking. Optimizing exercise interventions in this population is necessary. This study aimed to describe existing digital home-based exercises and to assess their effectiveness at improving physical health in female cancer survivors upon completion of therapy.
DESIGN
We conducted a systematic review using articles from Web of Science, Embase and Medline (Ovid). We included intervention studies examining the effects of digital home-based exercise programs on post-treatment recovery in female cancer survivors. Rob2 and ROBIN I were used to assess quality of studies. Quality-of-life, fatigue score, and physical performance were assessed using meta-analysis.
RESULTS
This study involved 1578 female cancer survivors in 21 interventions. Following guidelines and supervised exercise with coaches led to better outcomes than interventions without guidelines, programs without coaches, or lower intensity exercise. Exercise led to significant improvement in some physical performance outcomes. Significant improvements were seen in physical performance outcomes, including the 6-min walk test, metabolic equivalent task, and number of steps per day.
CONCLUSION
Providing cancer survivors with standard guidelines for home-based, coach-supervised, vigorous exercise on digital platforms could improve their physical function, health, and quality-of-life.

OBJECTIVE
To systematically review the literature for efficacy Gleno-humeral Internal Rotation Deficit and Risk of Upper Extremity Injury in Overhead Athletes DATA SOURCES: PubMed, Medline, CINAHL, Cochrane, Embase, Ovid, and Google Scholar and Web of Science were searched for relevant studies published.
STUDY SELECTION
A review of randomized controlled trials and quasi-experiments conducted in English language that assessed the effectiveness of Gleno-humeral Internal Rotation Deficit (GIRD) and the risk of upper extremity injury in athletes who perform overhead movements. The review included seven randomized controlled trials and two quasi-experiments out of 5403, which involved a total of 360 participants.
DATA EXTRACTION
Two reviewers independently screened the articles, scored methodological quality, and extracted data for analysis. The review was conducted and reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews. All studies were assessed in duplicate for risk of bias using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database Scale for randomized controlled trials.
DATA SYNTHESIS
The efficacy of different types of techniques was evaluated. Joint mobilization, sleeper stretch, cross body stretch, myofacial release, kinesio and rigid taping showed improvement in pain score and range of motion. Furthermore, self-myo-facial release tends to improve internal rotation; sleeper stretch and crossbody stretch tend to improve internal rotation with 40 percent decline in pain. However kinesio-taping and rigid taping showed good result in improvement of internal rotation Acute results determined that the (Metabolic equivalent) MET group had significantly more horizontal adduction ROM post-treatment compared to the control group (p=0.04). No differences existed between MET and joint mobilizations or joint mobilizations and the control group for horizontal adduction (p>0.16). No significant between group differences existed acutely for internal rotation (p>.28). There were no significant between group differences for either horizontal adduction or internal rotation at the 15- minute posttests (p>0.70).
CONCLUSIONS
In conclusion, the study evaluated the efficacy of various techniques in improving pain score and range of motion in individuals with Gleno-humeral Internal Rotation Deficit (GIRD). Joint mobilization, sleeper stretch, cross body stretch, myofascial release, kinesio-taping, and rigid taping all showed improvements in pain score and Range of motion. However, there were no significant between-group differences for either horizontal adduction or internal rotation at the 15-minute post-tests. Overall, these findings suggest that a combination of these techniques may be effective in treating individuals with GIRD.

Accuracy, Validity, and Reliability of Markerless Camera-Based 3D Motion Capture Systems versus Marker-Based 3D Motion Capture Systems in Gait Analysis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
(1) Background: Marker-based 3D motion capture systems (MBS) are considered the gold standard in gait analysis. However, they have limitations for which markerless camera-based 3D motion capture systems (MCBS) could provide a solution. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to compare the accuracy, validity, and reliability of MCBS and MBS. (2) Methods: A total of 2047 papers were systematically searched according to PRISMA guidelines on 7 February 2024, in two different databases: Pubmed (1339) and WoS (708). The COSMIN-tool and EBRO guidelines were used to assess risk of bias and level of evidence. (3) Results: After full text screening, 22 papers were included. Spatiotemporal parameters showed overall good to excellent accuracy, validity, and reliability. For kinematic variables, hip and knee showed moderate to excellent agreement between the systems, while for the ankle joint, poor concurrent validity and reliability were measured. The accuracy and concurrent validity of walking speed were considered excellent in all cases, with only a small bias. The meta-analysis of the inter-rater reliability and concurrent validity of walking speed, step time, and step length resulted in a good-to-excellent intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) (0.81; 0.98). (4) Discussion and conclusions: MCBS are comparable in terms of accuracy, concurrent validity, and reliability to MBS in spatiotemporal parameters. Additionally, kinematic parameters for hip and knee in the sagittal plane are considered most valid and reliable but lack valid and accurate measurement outcomes in transverse and frontal planes. Customization and standardization of methodological procedures are necessary for future research to adequately compare protocols in clinical settings, with more attention to patient populations.

BACKGROUND
The purpose of our systematic review was to examine the effects of any physical activity/exercise intervention combined with any diet/nutrition intervention on any biological/biochemical index, quality of life (QoL), and depression in breast, lung, colon and rectum, prostate, stomach, and liver cancer patients and/or cancer survivors.
METHODS
A systematic review and meta-analysis were undertaken, using PRISMA guidelines and the Cochrane Handbook. The systematic review protocol can be found in the PROSPERO database; registration number: CRD42023481429.
RESULTS
We found moderate-quality evidence that a combined intervention of physical activity/exercise and nutrition/diet reduced body mass index, body weight, fat mass, insulin, homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance, C-reactive protein, triglycerides, and depression, while it increased high-density lipoprotein, the physical component of QoL, and general functional assessment of cancer therapy.
CONCLUSIONS
We conclude that a combined intervention of physical activity/exercise and diet/nutrition may decrease body weight, fat mass, insulin levels, and inflammation, and improve lipidemic profile, the physical component of QoL, and depression in cancer patients and survivors. These outcomes indicate a lower risk for carcinogenesis; however, their applicability depends on the heterogeneity of the population and interventions, as well as the potential medical treatment of cancer patients and survivors.

BACKGROUND/AIM
Nutrition is a key element of the prehabilitation process prior to surgery. The aim of this study was to identify the clinical pathways of nutritional prehabilitation before cystectomy.
METHODS
A systematic literature review was conducted in PubMed, the Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Scopus and the Web of Science databases. Quality and risk of bias assessment was conducted adhering to the JBI framework and evidence was evaluated according to the Oxford Centre for Evidence Based Medicine levels of evidence.
RESULTS
Out of 586 records identified, six studies were included. Among them, only two were randomized controlled trials. Immunonutrition has been shown to improve postoperative bowel function (3.12 vs. 3.74 days; RR 0.82; CI, 0.73-0.93; = 0.0029) and decrease postoperative complications (-36.7%; = 0.008) and readmission rates (-15.38%; = 0.03). Furthermore, oral nutritional supplements combined with nutritional counseling demonstrated an accelerated recovery of bowel function (-1 day; < 0.01), a reduction in the length of hospital stay (-1.75 days; = 0.01), an improvement in handgrip strength (+6.8%, < 0.001), an increase in bone mass (+0.3 kg, = 0.04), and a better BMI value (+2.3%, = 0.001).
CONCLUSIONS
Nutritional prehabilitation demonstrates potential in enhancing postoperative outcomes following radical cystectomy. Oral supplements, immunonutrition, and counseling exhibit efficacy in improving postoperative results.

BACKGROUND
The sex steroid hormones fluctuate during the menstrual cycle, which affects the strength and postural stability of females and leads to injuries and risk of falls. These hormones may be modulated by exercise to impact the overall health of females.
OBJECTIVE
To determine the effects of exercise on sex steroid hormones in eumenorrheic females.
METHODS
This review was performed following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA) guidelines in Lahore, Pakistan. The full-length articles were searched using these databases/search engines (PubMed, Web of Science and Google Scholar, Sci-Hub). Randomized controlled trials along with single group experimental studies were also included. All types of exercises were compared with no exercise in the control group. The Cochrane Risk of Bias assessment tool assessed and screened the articles. The data were then analyzed. The primary outcomes were the levels of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.
RESULTS
Eleven studies were included (5 randomized controlled trials and 6 quasi-experimental studies). The effects of exercise on free estradiol concentration and serum progesterone level were not significant [p = 0.37 (SMD = 0.33, 95% CI = 0.14 to 0.74, I = 0%) and p = 0.84 (S.D= -0.65, C.I= -6.92 to 5.62, I = 94%)] respectively, whereas, the effects on testosterone levels were significant [p value < 0.00001 (M.D = 0.89, 95% C.I= -2.16 to 3.95, I = 94%)].
CONCLUSION
A blinded randomized controlled trial should be conducted in which a structured approach should be followed by women along with warm-ups, cool down and rest intervals.

Taping is increasingly used to manage proprioceptive deficits, but existing reviews on its impact have shortcomings. To accurately assess the effects of taping, a separate meta-analyses for different population groups and tape types is needed. Therefore, both between- and within-group meta-analyses are needed to evaluate the influence of taping on proprioception. According to PRISMA guidelines, a literature search was conducted across seven databases (Web of Science, PEDro, Pubmed, EBSCO, Scopus, ERIC, SportDiscus, Psychinfo) and one register (CENTRAL) using the keywords "tape" and "proprioception". Out of 1372 records, 91 studies, involving 2718 individuals, met the inclusion criteria outlined in the systematic review. The meta-analyses revealed a significant between and within-group reduction in repositioning errors with taping compared to no tape (Hedge's g: -0.39, p < 0.001) and placebo taping (Hedge's g: -1.20, p < 0.001). Subgroup and sensitivity analyses further confirmed the reliability of the overall between and within-group analyses. The between-group results further demonstrated that both elastic tape and rigid tape had similar efficacy to improve repositioning errors in both healthy and fatigued populations. Additional analyses on the threshold to detection of passive motion and active movement extent discrimination apparatus revealed no significant influence of taping. In conclusion, the findings highlight the potential of taping to enhance joint repositioning accuracy compared to no tape or placebo taping. Further research needs to uncover underlying mechanisms and refine the application of taping for diverse populations with proprioceptive deficits.

Effects of combined aerobic and resistance training on glycemic control, blood pressure, inflammation, cardiorespiratory fitness and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes and overweight/obesity: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
BACKGROUND
Structured aerobic or resistance training alone seems to be a beneficial tool for improving glucose homeostasis, chronic systemic inflammation, resting cardiovascular function, and mental health in people with obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The aim of the present study was to synthesize the available data on the effectiveness of combined aerobic and resistance training (CART) on glycemic control, blood pressure, inflammation, cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), and quality of life (QoL) in overweight and obese individuals with T2DM.
METHODS
A database search was carried out in PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Science Direct, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar from inception up to May 2023. The Cochrane risk of bias tool was used to assess eligible studies, and the GRADE method to evaluate the reliability of evidence. A random-effects model was used, and data were analyzed using standardized mean differences and 95% confidence intervals. The study protocol was registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (ID: CRD42022355612).
RESULTS
A total of 21,612 studies were retrieved; 20 studies were included, and data were extracted from 1,192 participants (mean age: 57 ± 7 years) who met the eligibility criteria. CART demonstrated significant improvements in body mass index, glycated hemoglobin, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, C-reactive protein, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-6, CRF, and QoL compared to ST. These findings highlight the significance of exercise interventions such as CART as essential elements within comprehensive diabetes management strategies, ultimately enhancing overall health outcomes in individuals with T2DM and overweight/obesity.No differences were found in resting heart rate between CART and ST. An uncertain risk of bias and poor quality of evidence were found among the eligible studies.
CONCLUSION
These outcomes show clear evidence considering the positive role of CART in inducing beneficial changes in various cardiometabolic and mental health-related indicators in patients with T2DM and concurrent overweight/obesity. More studies with robust methodological design are warranted to examine the dose-response relationship, training parameters configuration, and mechanisms behind these positive adaptations.

Gastrointestinal permeability refers to the movement of substances across the gut wall. This is mediated by endotoxemia (bacterial products entering the systemic circulation), and is associated with metabolic disease. The effect of bariatric surgery on permeability remains uncertain; the associated dietary, metabolic and weight changes are suggested to influence, or trigger, altered permeability. The primary aim of this study is to synthesize evidence and analyze the effect of bariatric surgery on permeability. A systematic review was performed, searching MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Scopus until February 2023, using MESH terms "intestinal permeability", "bariatric", for studies reporting in vivo assessment of permeability. Three cohort studies and two case series were identified (n=96). Data was heterogeneous; methodology and controls preclude meta-analysis. Gastroduodenal permeability reduced post-sleeve gastrectomy (SG). Two studies showed an increase in small intestinal permeability after biliopancreatic diversion. Two studies revealed a decrease in post-Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. One study identified increased colonic permeability six months post-SG. Evidence regarding permeability change after bariatric surgery is conflicting, notably for the small intestine. Impaired colonic permeability post-SG raises concerns regarding colonic protein fermentation and harmful dietary sequelae. There are multiple interacting variables confounding gastrointestinal permeability change; procedure type, altered microbiota and metabolic response to surgery. Further understanding of this important aspect of obesity is required, both before and after bariatric surgery.

OBJECTIVES
This systematic review aims to examine the effects of task-oriented (TO) training on gait function in people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and to determine the most effective TO training protocol.
METHODS
We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, EMBASE, REHABDATA, and PEDro for studies that examined the effects of TO on gait ability (i.e., gait velocity, gait endurance, functional mobility) in people with MS from 1971 to October 2022. The quality of the selected studies was estimated using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale.
RESULTS
Nine studies met the eligibility criteria. A total of 199 people with MS, 58.79% of whom were women, were included. Five studies revealed "good" quality, one revealed "fair", and three exhibited "poor" quality. Four studies administered TO training alone, and five combined TO training with conventional physiotherapy. The selected studies showed varied results for the influences of TO training on gait ability in people with MS.
CONCLUSIONS
The evidence for the impact of TO training on people with MS was limited. The optimal TO training protocol stills vague. Further studies with larger sample sizes are needed.
