OBJECTIVES
Mental health inpatient facilities are increasingly focusing on creating therapeutic, person-centred care environments. However, research shows that this focus may have unintended consequences for healthcare staff. Designs that do not pay attention to staff needs may risk contributing to stress, burnout, job dissatisfaction and mental exhaustion in the work environment. This systematic review aims to identify and synthesise current research on the design factors of adult mental health inpatient facilities that impact healthcare staff.
DESIGN
A mixed method systematic review was conducted to search for empirical, peer-reviewed studies using the databases CINAHL, Embase, PsycINFO, PubMed and Web of Science from their inception up to 5 September 2023. The Joanna Briggs Institute's critical appraisal checklists were used to assess the methodological quality of the eligible studies. Data were extracted and grouped based on the facility design factors.
RESULTS
In our review, we included 29 peer-reviewed empirical studies that identified crucial design factors impacting healthcare staff in adult mental health inpatient facilities. Key factors included layouts providing optimal visibility, designated work and respite areas, and centrally located nursing stations. Notably, mixed perceptions regarding the benefits and challenges of open and glass-enclosed nursing stations suggest areas requiring further research. Facilities in geographically remote locations also emerged as a factor influencing staff dynamics. Additionally, although only supported by a limited number of studies, the significance of artwork, sensory rooms for respite, appropriate furniture and equipment, and access to alarms was acknowledged as contributory factors.
CONCLUSION
Through the synthesis of existing research, this review identified that the design of mental health facilities significantly impacts staff well-being, satisfaction, performance and perception of safety. Concluding that, in order to create a well-designed therapeutic environment, it is essential to account for both service users and staff user needs.

INTRODUCTION
The severe conditions often experienced in an intensive care unit, combined with poor working conditions, increase stress and therefore decrease job satisfaction. Sustained stress in the workplace leads to the development of burnout, a syndrome characterised by three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation and perceived lack of personal fulfilment.
OBJECTIVE
To analyse the relationship between burnout syndrome and job satisfaction among ICU personnel.
DATA SOURCES
The PubMed, CINAHL and Scopus databases were used.
STUDY DESIGN
A systematic review and meta-analysis. The study sample consisted of 18 quantitative primary studies conducted in the last five years. Validated questionnaires were used to assess burnout in ICU healthcare workers, the most commonly used being the Maslach Burnout Inventory.
EXTRACTION METHODS
The search equation applied was: "job satisfaction AND nurs* AND burnout AND (ICU OR intensive care units)". The search was performed in October 2022.
PRINCIPAL FINDINGS
The search returned 514 results. Only 73 articles met the eligibility criteria. After reading the title and abstract, 20 articles were selected. After reading the full texts, 12 articles remained and after the reverse search, 18 articles were finally selected. The studies reported a 50% prevalence of burnout, all three dimensions of which were heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Analysis of the study findings revealed an inverse association between burnout and job satisfaction.
CONCLUSIONS
Job dissatisfaction of ICU nurses depends on lack of experience, working conditions or working environment among others. ICU nurses with lower job satisfaction have higher levels of burnout.
IMPLICATIONS FOR CLINICAL PRACTICE
This meta-analysis shows the potential value of job satisfaction on improving health outcomes related to burnout syndrome for nursing professional in Intensive Care Units. Different factors that could increase job satisfaction and consequently protect them from suffering high levels of burnout, such as salary, permanence in the service, mental health care are the responsibility of the hospital supervisor and, finally, of the own Health System. Knowledge of a risk profile based on the factors influencing job dissatisfaction would enable the implementation of effective workplace interventions to reduce or prevent the risk of burnout. Health policies should focus on protecting the worker, so in addition to improving working conditions, it would be interesting to promote coping skills in order to improve the quality of care and patient safety.

In the current healthcare landscape, nurses frequently encounter various ethical dilemmas, necessitating situation-specific ethical judgments. It is crucial to thoroughly understand the factors that shape the hospital ethical climate and the elements that are influenced by this climate. This study aims to identify the variables associated with the hospital ethical climate perceived by Korean nurses. A literature search was conducted using the core database, and the effect sizes of relevant variables were analyzed using a comprehensive meta-analysis. The overall effect size analysis incorporated 56 variables, and a meta-analysis was performed on 7 variables. This study found correlations between ethical sensitivity (ESr = 0.48), moral distress (ESr = -0.30), empathy (ESr = 0.27), ethical leadership (ESr = 0.72), job satisfaction (ESr = 0.64), and intention to leave (ESr = -0.34) with the hospital ethical climate. Both personal and organizational attributes were moderately related to the hospital ethical climate. Enhancing the hospital ethical climate could positively affect both individuals and the organization. The protocol for this study has been registered with PROSPERO (CRD42022379812).

This systematic review synthesized prior quantitative research on individual, family, job, and organizational factors associated with retirement intentions (RI) among older long-term care (LTC) workers. Seven databases were searched for peer-reviewed studies. RI were defined as early (<65 years) or late (>65 years). To assess the methodological quality, we used JBI's checklists. The PRISMA statement guided this review. After duplicates were removed, 4 489 records were identified. A final sample of six articles was selected as eligible for inclusion. Current findings show weak social support, high physical job demands, and type of LTC occupation as important determinants for early RI. Strong social support and good job resources are important determinants fore late RI. In contrast to earlier research on other groups of older workers, this review shows no statistically associations between health nor emotional job demands and early RI for LTC workers. The results are discussed using the JD-R theory.

Low-middle income countries like India bear a heavier burden of maternal, childcare, and child mortality rates when compared with high-income countries, which highlights the disparity in global health. Numerous societal, geopolitical, economic, and institutional issues have been linked to this inequality. mHealth has the potential to ameliorate these challenges by providing health services and health-related information with the assistance of frontline workers in the provision of prepartum, delivery, and postnatal care to improve maternal and child health outcomes in hard-to-reach areas in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). However, there is limited evidence to support how mHealth can strengthen maternal and child health in India. The scoping review guideline in the Cochrane Handbook was used to retrieve studies from 4 international databases: CINAHL, Embase, Medline Ovid, and PubMed. This search strategy used combined keywords (MeSH terms) related to maternal and child healthcare, mHealth, and BIMARU in conjunction with database-controlled vocabulary. Out of 278 records, 8 publications were included in the review. The included articles used mHealth for data collection, eLearning, communication, patient monitoring, or tracking to deliver maternal and neonatal care. The results of these papers reflected a favourable effect of mHealth on the target population and found that it altered their attitudes and behaviours about healthcare. Higher job satisfaction and self-efficiency were reported by mHealth user care providers. Multiple barriers to the acceptance of mHealth exist, but the majority of the evidence points towards the feasibility of the intervention in a clinical setting. The mHealth has positive potential for improving maternal and child health outcomes in low-resource settings in India's BIMARU states by strengthening the healthcare system. The results of the study could be used in the tailoring of an effective mHealth intervention and implementation strategy in a similar context. However, there is a need for economic evaluation in the future to bridge the knowledge gap regarding the cost-effectiveness of mHealth interventions.

BACKGROUND
Because of the continually changing nature of work, workplace spirituality (WPS) has drawn more attention in recent years from studies, organizations, and both public and private sectors. Organizations strive to enhance employee well-being and general job satisfaction while developing a feeling of community inside the workplace through fostering WPS.
OBJECTIVE
The study aims to assess the literature on WPS in an attempt to provide a broader perspective on the impact of spirituality in the workplace to strengthen and comprehend how an individual or collective spirituality is integrated and manifested in the workplace.
METHODS
The literature was reviewed between 1994-2022 (including articles published online in 2023) and the deductive method was used.
RESULTS
As a new and significant contribution to knowledge in this study, maintaining a work environment of otherworldliness can help to advance work commitment (sympathy, mindfulness, significant work). Human resources practices should consider including care contemplation as an individual development program that results in increased empathy for others to support care and sympathy in the workplace. WPS centers around the humanistic idea of representatives in the work environment regarding how they experience a feeling of association, which means satisfaction and arrangement with the working environment. There are three ways to look at WPS: individual, authoritative, and intuitive.
CONCLUSION
This study has a significant contribution to knowledge enhancement and development. Such an approach to the development of a spirituality program within an organization can make a positive contribution to the improvement of business achievement and competitive gain. This model has some implications for organizational management where an internal spirituality program is desired. Future and additional research on model assessment under the same topic is strongly recommended.

BACKGROUND
Loneliness is a risk factor for a range of mental and physical health problems and has gained increasing interest from policy-makers and researchers in recent years. However, little attention has been paid to loneliness at work and its implications for workers and employers.
AIMS
Identify workplace, health and personal factors associated with workplace loneliness.
METHODS
We searched five databases (PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsycINFO and EBSCO Business Source Complete) for relevant articles published from 1 January 2000 to 23 February 2023. Quantitative data were synthesized using narrative synthesis and random-effects meta-analysis of correlation coefficients. Qualitative data were synthesized using thematic synthesis. Evidence quality was appraised using the Mixed-Methods Appraisal Tool.
RESULTS
We identified 49 articles meeting the inclusion criteria. Pooled results indicate that workplace loneliness was associated with lower job performance (r = -0.35, 95% CI -0.49, -0.21), reduced job satisfaction (r = -0.34, 95% CI -0.44, -0.24), worse worker-manager relationship (r = -0.31, 95% CI -0.38, -0.24) and elevated burnout (r = 0.39, 95% CI 0.25, 0.51). Qualitative results suggest links between loneliness and inadequate workplace social interactions and mental health problems. As most studies used cross-sectional data and few adjusted for potential confounders, the direction and robustness of the associations remain untested.
CONCLUSIONS
Our results indicate that loneliness is associated with poor occupational functioning and well-being among workers. Results also show that loneliness is associated with modifiable aspects of the work environment, suggesting that the workplace may offer a fruitful avenue for interventions targeting loneliness.

The purpose of this systematic review is to gather and analyze data from existing research on the effects of clinical supervision (CS) intervention on nurses' job satisfaction and related outcomes such as stress levels, burnout, and care quality. Using the PRISMA (preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis) criteria, a systematic review of the research available in the databases PubMed, PsycInfo, Cochrane Library, and CINAHL, well as Google Scholar, between January 2010 and May 2023 was carried out. Out of the 760 studies assessed, only 8 met the criteria for inclusion in the review based on Hawker's assessment tool. The results indicate that CS has a positive impact on nurses' job satisfaction and related outcomes such as reduced burnout, stress levels, and the quality of care. The study also found that the effectiveness of CS in enhancing job satisfaction was most evident during the 6-month follow-up period. However, nurses who did not receive CS did not show any noticeable improvement in their knowledge or practice. Additionally, nurses who required more efficient clinical oversight reported little to no positive impact on their practice or training. The review also highlighted gaps in knowledge regarding the frequency and number of sessions required for the impact of CS on nurses' job satisfaction and other outcomes. Due to the limited number of studies included in this review, further research is recommended to evaluate the influence of CS on nurses' job satisfaction.

BACKGROUND
The global healthcare landscape was profoundly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic placing nurses squarely at the heart of this emergency. This review aimed to identify the factors correlated with nurses' job satisfaction, the impact of their job satisfaction on both themselves and their patients, and to explore strategies that might have counteracted their job dissatisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic.
METHODS
The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology for systematic reviews of prevalence and incidence was used in this review. The electronic databases of CINAHL, MEDLINE, SCOPUS, PsycINFO and Academic Search Complete were searched between January 2020 to February 2023.
RESULTS
The literature review identified 23 studies from 20 countries on nurses' job satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic. A pooled prevalence of 69.6% of nurses were satisfied with personal, environmental, and psychological factors influencing their job satisfaction. Job satisfaction improved psychological wellbeing and quality of life, while dissatisfaction was linked to turnover and mental health issues.
CONCLUSION
This systematic review elucidates key factors impacting nurses' job satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic, its effects on healthcare provision, and the potential countermeasures for job dissatisfaction. Core influences include working conditions, staff relationships, and career opportunities. High job satisfaction correlates with improved patient care, reduced burnout, and greater staff retention.

BACKGROUND
Increasing well qualified health professionals is a part of sustainable development goal to specially to decrease maternal mortality below 70 per 100,000 deaths. Contrarily, The Nursing and midwifery councils (NMC) expect that 36% of healthcare workers, especially midwives, are leaving their jobs due to high turnover rates and job unhappiness worldwide.
METHODS
Studies were rigorously searched utilizing international databases from PubMed, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, and Embase. Using the New Castle Ottawa scale for a cross-sectional study design, the quality of the articles that were searched was evaluated. The systemic review was conducted using the random effect approach, and statistical analysis was done using STATA version 17 software for the window. The Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline was followed for reporting results.
RESULTS
A total of nine observational cross-sectional studies were included in this review. The pooled level of job satisfaction among midwives in Ethiopia was 52.2% (95% CI =41.7, 62.9). The pooled odds ratio showed that a significant positive association was found between midwives' job satisfaction and studied variables. Male midwife (OR = 0.45; 95% CI: 0.04, 0.87), fair supervision (OR = 2.03; 95%CI: 1.58-1), workload (OR = 1.72; 95%CI: 1.102-2.43) and motivation (OR = 1.64; 95%CI: 1.02-2.25) were strongly associated with job satisfaction.
CONCLUSION
Evidence suggested that motivating employees, providing fair supervision, fair workloads, and fostering positive relationships with managers are all crucial tactics for retaining and enhancing the satisfaction of health professionals at health care facilities in Ethiopian.
