Alcohol container labels might reduce population-level alcohol-related harms, but investigations of their effectiveness have varied in approach and quality. A systematic synthesis is needed to adjust for these differences and to yield evidence to inform policy. Our objectives were to establish the effects of alcohol container labels bearing one or more health warnings, standard drink information, or low-risk drinking guidance on alcohol consumption behaviour, knowledge of label message, and support for labels. We completed a systematic review according to Cochrane and synthesis without meta-analysis standards. We included all peer-reviewed studies and grey literature published from Jan 1, 1989, to March 6, 2024, in English, French, German, or Spanish that investigated the effects of alcohol container labels compared with no-label or existing label control groups in any population on alcohol consumption behaviour, knowledge of label message, or support for labels. Data were synthesised narratively as impact statements and assessed for risk of bias and certainty in the evidence. A protocol was preregistered (PROSPERO CRD42020168240). We identified 40 publications that studied 31 labels and generated 17 impact statements. 24 (60%) of 40 publications focused on consumption behaviour and we had low or very low certainty in 13 (59%) of 22 outcomes. Alcohol container labels bearing health warnings might slow the rate of alcohol consumption (low certainty), reduce alcoholic beverage selection (moderate certainty), reduce consumption during pregnancy (low certainty), and reduce consumption before driving (moderate certainty). Interventions with multiple types of rotating alcohol container labels likely substantially decrease alcohol use (moderate certainty) and reduce alcohol sales (high certainty). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first systematic review on multiple types of alcohol container labels assessing their effects for certainty in the evidence. Limitations included heterogeneity in label designs and outcome measurements. Alcohol container labels probably influence some alcohol consumption behaviour, with multiple rotating messages being particularly effective, although effects might vary depending on individual health literacy or drinking behaviour. Alcohol container labels might therefore be effective components of policies designed to address population-level alcohol-related harms.

OBJECTIVE
This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of exercise therapy for Axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) patients.
DATA SOURCES
From the database inception to March 2024, we searched PubMed (via Medline), Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, and SPORTDiscus for all relevant publications without any language restriction.
STUDY SELECTION
We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for axSpA patients in which at least one group received exercise therapy.
DATA EXTRACTION
Two independent reviewers assessed the quality of the literature using the Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool 2.0. The outcomes were ankylosing spondylitis (AS) disease activity score (ASDAS), Bath AS disease activity index (BASDAI), Bath AS functional index (BASFI), Bath AS metrology index (BASMI), 6-minute walk distance (6MWT), Chest expansion capacity, Peak oxygen consumption (VOpeak), pain, fatigue, C-reactive protein (CRP), and Eythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR).
DATA SYNTHESIS
A total of 20 RCTs, including 1,670 patients, were included in this study. Compared with the control group, exercise therapy improved BASFI (weighted mean difference [WMD]: -0.49, 95% confidence interval [CI]: -0.65 to -0.32, I= 3.4%, P=0.414), BASMI (WMD: -0.49, 95% CI: -0.87 to -0.11, I= 71.9%, P=0.679), BASDAI (WMD: -0.78, 95% CI: -1.08, -0.47, I=55.9%, P=0.021), ASDAS (WMD: -0.44, 95% CI: -0.64 to -0.24, I =0.0%, P=0.424), VOpeak (WMD: 3.16, 95% CI: 1.37 to 4.94, I=0.0%, P=0.873), 6MWT (WMD: 27.64, 95% CI: 12.04 to 43.24, I= 0.0%, P=0.922), Pain (standardized mean difference [SMD]: -0.47, 95% CI: -0.74 to -0.21, I= 66.0%, P=0.046) and Fatigue (SMD: -0.49, 95% CI: -0.71 to -0.27, I= 0.0%, P=0.446). However, no significant benefit was found in Chest expansion, CRP, and ESR outcomes.
CONCLUSIONS
Exercise therapy is an effective strategy for improving disease control and symptom relief in axSpA.

Pleural effusion is a very common clinical finding. Quantifying pleural effusion volume and its response to treatment over time has become increasingly important for clinicians, which is currently performed via computed tomography (CT) or drainage. To determine and compare ultrasonography (US), CT, and drainage agreements in pleural effusion volumetry. Protocol pre-registration was performed a priori at ( https://osf.io/rnugd/ ). We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library for studies up to January 7, 2024. Risk of bias was assessed using Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 (QUADAS-2), QUADAS-C, and Consensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN). Volumetric performances of CT, US, and drainage in assessment of pleural effusion volume were evaluated through both aggregated data (AD) and individual participant data (IPD) analyses. Certainty of evidence was evaluated using Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE). Six studies were included with 446 pleural effusion lesions. AD results showed a perfect level of agreement with pooled Pearson correlation and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of 0.933 and 0.948 between US and CT. IPD results demonstrated a high level of agreement between US and CT, with Finn's coefficient, ICC, concordance correlation coefficient (CCC), and Pearson correlation coefficient values of 0.856, 0.855, 0.854, and 0.860, respectively. Also, both results showed an overall perfect level of agreement between US and drainage. As for comparing the three combinations, US vs. CT and US vs. drainage were both superior to CT vs. drainage, suggesting the US is a good option for pleural effusion volumetric assessment. Ultrasound provides a highly reliable, to-the-point, cost-effective, and noninvasive method for the assessment of pleural effusion volume and is a great alternative to CT or drainage.

BACKGROUND
Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) facilitate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in health care. PICCs can fail due to infective and non-infective complications, which PICC materials and design may contribute to, leading to negative sequelae for patients and healthcare systems.
OBJECTIVES
To assess the effectiveness of PICC material and design in reducing catheter failure and complications.
SEARCH METHODS
The University of Queensland and Cochrane Vascular Information Specialist searched the Cochrane Vascular Specialised Register, CENTRAL, MEDLINE, Embase, and CINAHL databases and the WHO ICTRP and ClinicalTrials.gov trials registers to 16 May 2023. We aimed to identify other potentially eligible trials or ancillary publications by searching the reference lists of retrieved included trials, as well as relevant systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and health technology assessment reports. We contacted experts in the field to ascertain additional relevant information.
SELECTION CRITERIA
We included randomised controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating PICC design and materials.
DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
We used standard Cochrane methods. Our primary outcomes were venous thromboembolism (VTE), PICC-associated bloodstream infection (BSI), occlusion, and all-cause mortality. Secondary outcomes were catheter failure, PICC-related BSI, catheter breakage, PICC dwell time, and safety endpoints. We assessed the certainty of evidence using GRADE.
MAIN RESULTS
We included 12 RCTs involving approximately 2913 participants (one multi-arm study). All studies except one had a high risk of bias in one or more risk of bias domain. Integrated valve technology compared to no valve technology for peripherally inserted central catheter design Integrated valve technology may make little or no difference to VTE risk when compared with PICCs with no valve (risk ratio (RR) 0.71, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.19 to 2.63; I² = 0%; 3 studies; 437 participants; low certainty evidence). We are uncertain whether integrated valve technology reduces PICC-associated BSI risk, as the certainty of the evidence is very low (RR 0.20, 95% CI 0.01 to 4.00; I² = not applicable; 2 studies (no events in 1 study); 257 participants). Integrated valve technology may make little or no difference to occlusion risk when compared with PICCs with no valve (RR 0.86, 95% CI 0.53 to 1.38; I² = 0%; 5 studies; 900 participants; low certainty evidence). We are uncertain whether use of integrated valve technology reduces all-cause mortality risk, as the certainty of evidence is very low (RR 0.85, 95% CI 0.44 to 1.64; I² = 0%; 2 studies; 473 participants). Integrated valve technology may make little or no difference to catheter failure risk when compared with PICCs with no valve (RR 0.80, 95% CI 0.62 to 1.03; I² = 0%; 4 studies; 720 participants; low certainty evidence). We are uncertain whether integrated-valve technology reduces PICC-related BSI risk (RR 0.51, 95% CI 0.19 to 1.32; I² = not applicable; 2 studies (no events in 1 study); 542 participants) or catheter breakage, as the certainty of evidence is very low (RR 1.05, 95% CI 0.22 to 5.06; I² = 20%; 4 studies; 799 participants). Anti-thrombogenic surface modification compared to no anti-thrombogenic surface modification for peripherally inserted central catheter design We are uncertain whether use of anti-thrombogenic surface modified catheters reduces risk of VTE (RR 0.67, 95% CI 0.13 to 3.54; I² = 15%; 2 studies; 257 participants) or PICC-associated BSI, as the certainty of evidence is very low (RR 0.20, 95% CI 0.01 to 4.00; I² = not applicable; 2 studies (no events in 1 study); 257 participants). We are uncertain whether use of anti-thrombogenic surface modified catheters reduces occlusion (RR 0.69, 95% CI 0.04 to 11.22; I² = 70%; 2 studies; 257 participants) or all-cause mortality risk, as the certainty of evidence is very low (RR 0.49, 95% CI 0.05 to 5.26; I² = not applicable; 1 study; 111 participants). Use of anti-thrombogenic surface modified catheters may make little or no difference to risk of catheter failure (RR 0.76, 95% CI 0.37 to 1.54; I² = 46%; 2 studies; 257 participants; low certainty evidence). No PICC-related BSIs were reported in one study (111 participants). As such, we are uncertain whether use of anti-thrombogenic surface modified catheters reduces PICC-related BSI risk (RR not estimable; I² = not applicable; very low certainty evidence). We are uncertain whether use of anti-thrombogenic surface modified catheters reduces the risk of catheter breakage, as the certainty of evidence is very low (RR 0.15, 95% CI 0.01 to 2.79; I² = not applicable; 2 studies (no events in 1 study); 257 participants). Antimicrobial impregnation compared to non-antimicrobial impregnation for peripherally inserted central catheter design We are uncertain whether use of antimicrobial-impregnated catheters reduces VTE risk (RR 0.54, 95% CI 0.05 to 5.88; I² = not applicable; 1 study; 167 participants) or PICC-associated BSI risk, as the certainty of evidence is very low (RR 2.17, 95% CI 0.20 to 23.53; I² = not applicable; 1 study; 167 participants). Antimicrobial-impregnated catheters probably make little or no difference to occlusion risk (RR 1.00, 95% CI 0.57 to 1.74; I² = 0%; 2 studies; 1025 participants; moderate certainty evidence) or all-cause mortality (RR 1.12, 95% CI 0.71 to 1.75; I² = 0%; 2 studies; 1082 participants; moderate certainty evidence). Antimicrobial-impregnated catheters may make little or no difference to risk of catheter failure (RR 1.04, 95% CI 0.82 to 1.30; I² = not applicable; 1 study; 221 participants; low certainty evidence). Antimicrobial-impregnated catheters probably make little or no difference to PICC-related BSI risk (RR 1.05, 95% CI 0.71 to 1.55; I² = not applicable; 2 studies (no events in 1 study); 1082 participants; moderate certainty evidence). Antimicrobial-impregnated catheters may make little or no difference to risk of catheter breakage (RR 0.86, 95% CI 0.19 to 3.83; I² = not applicable; 1 study; 804 participants; low certainty evidence).
AUTHORS' CONCLUSIONS
There is limited high-quality RCT evidence available to inform clinician decision-making for PICC materials and design. Limitations of the current evidence include small sample sizes, infrequent events, and risk of bias. There may be little to no difference in the risk of VTE, PICC-associated BSI, occlusion, or mortality across PICC materials and designs. Further rigorous RCTs are needed to reduce uncertainty.

There are two main complementary feeding (CF) approaches: traditional spoon-feeding (TSF) and baby-led weaning (BLW). Many parents and healthcare professionals have concerns about the risk of choking associated with BLW. Since asphyxia is one of infants' main causes of death, this study aims to understand the influence of the CF approach adopted by caregivers on infants' risk of choking. A systematic review was performed. The search was conducted through PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. We included randomized controlled trials or observational studies published between January 2010 and November 2023, with a clear definition of the intervention and directly assessing the risk of choking. After the selection procedure, 7 of the 165 studies initially identified were included. No study reported statistically significant differences in the risk of choking between babies following BLW, baby-led introduction to solids (BLISS), and TSF. In five studies, although not statistically significant, infants in the TSF group had more choking episodes than those in the BLW or BLISS groups. The risk of choking does not seem to be associated with the CF approach. Instead, it may be related to the familiarity of the baby with each texture and the parent's understanding of the information about how to minimize the risk of choking. Recall bias may be present in all included studies. Advice on how to modify foods to make them safer needs to be clearer and reinforced to all parents.

Visually Accessible Rembrandt (Repository for Molecular Brain Neoplasia Data) Images (VASARI) features, a vocabulary to establish reproducible terminology for glioma reporting, have been applied for a decade, but a systematic performance evaluation is lacking.
PURPOSE
Our aim was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of the performance of the VASARI features set for glioma assessment.
DATA SOURCES
MEDLINE, Web of Science, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library were systematically searched until September 26, 2023.
STUDY SELECTION
Original articles predicting diagnosis, progression, and survival in patients with glioma were included.
DATA ANALYSIS
The modified Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 (QUADAS-2) tool was applied to evaluate the risk-of-bias. The meta-analysis used a random effects model and forest plot visualizations, if ≥5 comparable studies with a low or medium risk of bias were provided.
DATA SYNTHESIS
Thirty-five studies (3304 patients) were included. Risk-of-bias scores were medium ( = 33) and low ( = 2). Recurring objectives were overall survival ( = 18) and isocitrate dehydrogenase mutation (; = 12) prediction. Progression-free survival was examined in 7 studies. In 4 studies (glioblastoma = 2, grade 2/3 glioma = 1, grade 3 glioma = 1), a significant association was found between progression-free survival and single VASARI features. The single features predicting overall survival with the highest pooled hazard ratios were multifocality (hazard ratio = 1.80; 95%-CI, 1.21-2.67; I = 53%), ependymal invasion (hazard ratio = 1.73; 95% CI, 1.45-2.05; I = 0%), and enhancing tumor crossing the midline (hazard ratio = 2.08; 95% CI, 1.35-3.18; I = 52%). mutation-predicting models combining VASARI features rendered a pooled area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.82 (95% CI, 0.76-0.88) at considerable heterogeneity (I = 100%). Combined input models using VASARI plus clinical and/or radiomics features outperformed single data-type models in all relevant studies ( = 17).
LIMITATIONS
Studies were heterogeneously designed and often with a small sample size. Several studies used The Cancer Imaging Archive database, with likely overlapping cohorts. The meta-analysis for was limited due to a high study heterogeneity.
CONCLUSIONS
Some VASARI features perform well in predicting overall survival and mutation status, but combined models outperform single features. More studies with less heterogeneity are needed to increase the evidence level.

The prenatal and neonatal periods are two of the most important developmental stages of the human brain. It is therefore crucial to understand normal brain development and how early connections are established during these periods, in order to advance the state of knowledge on altered brain development and eventually identify early brain markers of neurodevelopmental disorders and diseases. In this systematic review (Prospero ID: CRD42024511365), we compiled resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies in healthy fetuses and neonates, in order to outline the main characteristics of typical development of the functional brain connectivity during the prenatal and neonatal periods. A systematic search of five databases identified a total of 12 573 articles. Of those, 28 articles met pre-established selection criteria based determined by the authors after surveying and compiling the major limitations reported within the literature. Inclusion criteria were: (1) resting state studies; (2) presentation of original results; (3) use of fMRI with minimum one Tesla; (4) a population ranging from 20 weeks of GA to term birth (around 37 to 42 weeks of PMA); (5) singleton pregnancy with normal development (absence of any complications known to alter brain development). Exclusion criteria were: (1) preterm studies; (2) post-mortem studies; (3) clinical or pathological studies; (4) twin studies; (5) papers with a sole focus on methodology (i.e. focused on tool and analysis development); (6) volumetric studies; (7) activation map studies; (8) cortical analysis studies; (9) conference papers. A risk of bias assessment was also done to evaluate each article's methodological rigor. 1877 participants were included across all the reviewed articles. Results consistently revealed a developmental gradient of increasing functional brain connectivity from posterior to anterior regions and from proximal-to-distal regions. A decrease in local small-world organization shortly after birth was also observed; small-world characteristics were present in fetuses and newborns, but appeared weaker in the latter group. Also, the posterior-to-anterior gradient could be associated with earlier development of the sensorimotor networks in the posterior regions while more complex higher-order networks (e.g. attention-related) mature later in the anterior regions. The main limitations of this systematic review stem from the inherent limitations of functional imaging in fetuses, mainly: unevenly distributed populations and limited sample sizes; fetal movements in the womb and other imaging obstacles; and a large voxel resolution when imaging a small brain. Another limitation specific to this review is the relatively small number of included articles compared to very a large search result, which may have led to relevant articles having been overlooked.

Menstruation serves as an indicator of women's reproductive well-being and plays a pivotal role in their fertility; nevertheless, there remains an ongoing debate regarding the epidemiological evidence linking menstrual characteristics and fertility.
OBJECTIVE
To explore the correlation between menstrual characteristics and fertility in women of reproductive age.
DATA SOURCES
A comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane libraries to identify research articles published up until 9 February 2024.
STUDY SELECTION AND SYNTHESIS
We included all studies in which the relationship between menstrual characteristics and pregnancy rates among women of reproductive age was investigated. We excluded studies involving the administration of oral contraceptives, application of assisted reproductive technologies, and individuals with a documented history of infertility or partners with a known history of infertility.
MAIN OUTCOMES
Clinical pregnancy and miscarriage.
RESULTS
This meta-analysis was composed of nine studies involving a total of 399,966 women, and the evidential quality derived from these studies was deemed to be high with a low risk of bias. Compared with a normal menstrual cycle length (2532 days), the impact of a short (<25 days) or long (>32 days) menstrual cycle on a woman's pregnancy was relatively insignificant (OR=0.81, CI [0.65, 1.01], I=68%; OR=0.89, CI [0.75, 1.06], I=60%, respectively); however, a change in cycle length may increase the risk of miscarriage (RR=1.87, CI [1.11, 3.15], I=0%; RR=1.66, CI [1.07, 2.57], I=43%, respectively). In comparison to women experiencing menarche at a typical age (1214 years), those with a late age at menarche (>14 years) exhibited a decreased likelihood of pregnancy (OR=0.92, CI [0.91, 0.93], I=0%); and compared with women experiencing a normal duration of menstrual bleeding (47 days), those with a short duration of menstrual bleeding (<4 days) exhibited reduced fertility potential (OR=0.86, CI [0.84, 0.88], I=29%).
CONCLUSION AND RELEVANCE
Short and long menstrual cycle lengths may elevate women's susceptibility to spontaneous abortion, whereas late age at menarche and short duration of menstrual bleeding appear to be linked to diminished fertility among women of reproductive age.

Telenursing as a tool in emergencies and disasters: a systematic review.
BACKGROUND
Telenursing is an innovative strategy that allows nurses to care for patients in various situations with the help of technology. The aim of this systematic review is to analyse the current situation of telenursing in emergencies and disasters by means of a systematic review of the scientific literature.
METHODS
A systematic review of the scientific literature was carried out following the PRISMA methodology. A systematic search was conducted using the CINAHL, Pubmed and Cochrane Library databases. Study selection and risk of bias were performed independently by pair of authors.
RESULTS
A total of 14 publications were selected. The results of the study focus on two main themes; on the one hand, the benefits offered by telenursing in the field of emergency and disaster situations and, on the other hand, the perspective of professionals who use it or who are likely to do so.
CONCLUSIONS
Telenursing brings benefits to the emergency department, such as improved clinical outcomes, fewer unnecessary visits to the department, enhanced nursing autonomy and reduced healthcare costs. Nurses have a positive attitude towards the use of this technology; however, more training and equipment are required to increase its effectiveness.

BACKGROUND
The review highlights recent advancements and innovative uses of nerve transfer surgery in treating dysfunctions caused by central nervous system (CNS) injuries, with a particular focus on spinal cord injury (SCI), stroke, traumatic brain injury, and cerebral palsy.
METHODS
A comprehensive literature search was conducted regarding nerve transfer for restoring sensorimotor functions and bladder control following injuries of spinal cord and brain, across PubMed and Web of Science from January 1920 to May 2023. Two independent reviewers undertook article selection, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment with several appraisal tools, including the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool, the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist, and SYRCLE's ROB tool. The study protocol has been registered and reported following PRISMA and AMSTAR guidelines.
RESULTS
Nine hundred six articles were retrieved, of which 35 studies were included (20 on SCI and 15 on brain injury), with 371 participants included in the surgery group and 192 in the control group. These articles were mostly low-risk, with methodological concerns in study types, highlighting the complexity and diversity. For SCI, the strength of target muscle increased by 3.13 of Medical Research Council grade, and the residual urine volume reduced by more than 100 ml in 15 of 20 patients. For unilateral brain injury, the Fugl-Myer motor assessment (FMA) improved 15.14-26 score in upper extremity compared to 2.35-26 in the control group. The overall reduction in Modified Ashworth score was 0.76-2 compared to 0-1 in the control group. Range of motion (ROM) increased 18.4-80° in elbow, 20.4-110° in wrist and 18.8-130° in forearm, while ROM changed -4.03°-20° in elbow, -2.08°-10° in wrist, -2.26°-20° in forearm in the control group. The improvement of FMA in lower extremity was 9 score compared to the presurgery.
CONCLUSION
Nerve transfer generally improves sensorimotor functions in paralyzed limbs and bladder control following CNS injury. The technique effectively creates a 'bypass' for signals and facilitates functional recovery by leveraging neural plasticity. It suggested a future of surgery, neurorehabilitation and robotic-assistants converge to improve outcomes for CNS.
