Breast leukaemia (BL) is a rare breast malignancy that is treated differently from other malignant conditions. However, it is easily confused with other conditions; therefore, how to accurately diagnose is crucial. We retrospectively analysed the imaging findings of 13 patients to provide a diagnostic reference. From January 2015 to April 2023, 13 patients with BL confirmed by biopsy who underwent imaging in Peking University People's hospital were retrospectively analysed. The imaging findings obtained via ultrasound (US), mammography (MMG), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) were analysed, and the detection rates of these methods for diagnosing BL were compared. Twenty-nine lesions were detected in the 13 patients. These patients presented with palpable masses or breast swelling several months after treatment for leukaemia, mainly involving the bilateral breasts. Ultrasonography was performed for 13 patients, and all lesions were detected. Most of the identified masses were hypoechoic and had indistinct boundaries, irregular shapes, no enhancement of the posterior echo, and no abundant blood flow. MMG was performed for five patients, revealing breast masses, architectural distortion, and no abnormalities. MRI was performed for four patients, and all lesions were detected; most of the lesions were hypointense on T1-weighted imaging and hyperintense on T2-weighted imaging and diffusion-weighted imaging, with a decreased apparent diffusion coefficient and inhomogeneous enhancement. The enhancement curves were mostly inflow patterns. PET/CT was performed for four patients; two patients had hypermetabolism, and the other two had no obvious radioactive uptake. Compared to MMG and PET/CT, US and MRI have higher detection rates. Furthermore, compared to MRI, US is inexpensive, convenient and efficient; therefore, it should be the first choice for diagnosing BL.

In this study, we present a nanocomposite hydrogel designed for skin motion sensing. The hydrogel is based on poly(acrylamide) crosslinked with gold nanoparticles covalently bound to the polymer matrix, yielding a robust, highly elastic and conductive material. The choice of amino acid derivative - N,N'-diacryloylcystine salt (BISS) - as a crosslinker allows for the introduction of gold nanoparticles, due to the presence of sulfide groups in its structure. During the nanoparticle modification process, covalent bonds between gold and sulfur atoms are formed as the disulfide bond is cleaved. In result of this self-assembly process, a multifunctional Au-BISS crosslinker is formed, enhancing the material's mechanical properties and introducing electrical conductivity. To confer anti-freezing properties and limit water evaporation, a binary mixture of water and glycerol was used. The resultant hydrogel exhibits high elasticity, strain sensitivity across a wide strain range and various types of deformation (elongation, bending, compression) with exceptional response time (120 ms) and recovery time (90 ms). The material's cold-resistance, resilience, and conductivity make it well-suited for real-time monitoring of joint movements and speech recognition, with potential applications in electronic skin and healthcare monitoring devices.

Phototherapy has been extensively used to prevent and treat signs of aging and stimulate wound healing, and phototherapy through light-emitting diodes (LEDs). In contrast to LED, organic LED (OLED) devices are composed of organic semiconductors that possess novel characteristics. We investigated the regenerative potential of OLED for restoring cellular potential from senescence and thus delaying animal aging. Bone marrow-derived stem cells (BMSCs) and adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) were isolated from the control and OLED- treated groups to evaluate their proliferation, migration, and differentiation potentials. Cellular senescence was evaluated using a senescence-associated β-galactosidase (SA-β-gal) activity assay and gene expression biomarker assessment. OLED treatment significantly increased the cell proliferation, colony formation, and migration abilities of stem cells. SA-β-gal activity was significantly decreased in both ADSCs and BMSCs in the OLED-treated group. Gene expression biomarkers from treated mice indicated a significant upregulation of IGF-1 (insulin growthfactor-1). The upregulation of the SIRT1 gene inhibited the p16 and p19 genes then to downregulate the p53 expressions for regeneration of stem cells in the OLED-treated group. Our findings indicated that the survival rates of 10-month aging senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8 mice were prolonged and that their gross appearance improved markedly after OLED treatment. Histological analysis of skin and brain tissue also indicated significantly greater collagen fibers density, which prevents ocular abnormalities and β-amyloid accumulation. Lordokyphosis and bone characteristics were observed to resemble those of younger mice after OLED treatment. In conclusion, OLED therapy reduced the signs of aging and enhanced stem-cell senescence recovery and then could be used for tissue regeneration.

BACKGROUND
The uterus is the most important organ in the female reproductive system. Its shape plays a critical role in fertility and pregnancy outcomes. Advances in medical imaging, such as 3D ultrasound, have significantly improved the exploration of the female genital tract, thereby enhancing gynecological healthcare. Despite well-documented data for organs like the liver and heart, large-scale studies on the uterus are lacking. Existing classifications, such as VCUAM and ESHRE/ESGE, provide different definitions for normal uterine shapes but are not based on real-world measurements. Moreover, the lack of comprehensive datasets significantly hinders research in this area. Our research, part of the larger NURSE study, aims to fill this gap by establishing the shape of a normal uterus using real-world 3D vaginal ultrasound scans. This will facilitate research into uterine shape abnormalities associated with infertility and recurrent miscarriages.
METHODS
We developed an automated system for the segmentation and alignment of uterine shapes from 3D ultrasound data, which consists of two steps: automatic segmentation of the uteri in 3D ultrasound scans using deep learning techniques, and alignment of the resulting shapes with standard geometrical approaches, enabling the extraction of the normal shape for future analysis. The system was trained and validated on a comprehensive dataset of 3D ultrasound images from multiple medical centers. Its performance was evaluated by comparing the automated results with manual annotations provided by expert clinicians.
RESULTS
The presented approach demonstrated high accuracy in segmenting and aligning uterine shapes from 3D ultrasound data. The segmentation achieved an average Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) of 0.90. Our method for aligning uterine shapes showed minimal translation and rotation errors compared to traditional methods, with the preliminary average shape exhibiting characteristics consistent with expert findings of a normal uterus.
CONCLUSION
We have presented an approach to automatically segment and align uterine shapes from 3D ultrasound data. We trained a deep learning nnU-Net model that achieved high accuracy and proposed an alignment method using a combination of standard geometrical techniques. Additionally, we have created a publicly available dataset of 3D transvaginal ultrasound volumes with manual annotations of uterine cavities to support further research and development in this field. The dataset and the trained models are available at https://github.com/UL-FRI-LGM/UterUS.

Review
Respiratory, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal mechanisms involved in the pathophysiology of pulmonary hypertension: An updated systematic review of preclinical and clinical studies.
BACKGROUND
Progressive exercise intolerance is a hallmark of pulmonary hypertension (pH), severely impacting patients' independence and quality of life (QoL). Accumulating evidence over the last decade shows that combined abnormalities in peripheral reflexes and target organs contribute to disease progression and exercise intolerance.
OBJECTIVE
The aim of this study was to review the literature of the last decade on the contribution of the cardiovascular, respiratory, and musculoskeletal systems to pathophysiology and exercise intolerance in pH.
METHODS
A systematic literature search was conducted using specific terms in PubMed, SciELO, and the Cochrane Library databases for original pre-clinical or clinical studies published between 2013 and 2023. Studies followed randomized controlled/non-randomized controlled and pre-post designs.
RESULTS
The systematic review identified 25 articles reporting functional or structural changes in the respiratory, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal systems in pH. Moreover, altered biomarkers in these systems, lower cardiac baroreflex, and heightened peripheral chemoreflex activity seemed to contribute to functional changes associated with poor prognosis and exercise intolerance in pH. Potential therapeutic strategies acutely explored involved manipulating the baroreflex and peripheral chemoreflex, improving cardiovascular autonomic control via cardiac vagal control, and targeting specific pathways such as GPER1, GDF-15, miR-126, and the JMJD1C gene.
CONCLUSION
Information published in the last 10 years advances the notion that pH pathophysiology involves functional and structural changes in the respiratory, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal systems and their integration with peripheral reflexes. These findings suggest potential therapeutic targets, yet unexplored in clinical trials, that could assist in improving exercise tolerance and QoL in patients with pH.

To address the urgent need for agricultural intelligence in the face of increasing agricultural output and a shortage of personnel, this paper proposes a high precision object detection network for automated pear picking tasks. The current object detection method using deep learning does not fully consider the redundant background information of the pear detection scene and the mutual occlusion characteristics of multiple pears, so that the detection accuracy is low and cannot meet the needs of complex automated pear picking detection tasks. The proposed, High-level deformation-perception Network with multi-object search NMS(HDMNet), is based on YOLOv8 and utilizes a high-level Semantic focused attention mechanism module to eliminate irrelevant background information and a deformation-perception feature pyramid network to improve accuracy of long-distance and small scale fruit. A multi-object search non-maximum suppression is also proposed to choose the anchor frame in a combined search method suitable for multiple pears. The experimental results show that the HDMNet parameter amount is as low as 12.9 M, the GFLOPs is 41.1, the mAP is 75.7%, the mAP50 reaches 93.6%, the mAP75 reaches 70.2%, and the FPS reaches 73.0. Compared with other SOTA object detection methods, it has the transcend of real-time detection, low parameter amount, low calculation amount, high precision, and accurate positioning.

The compaction characteristics and bearing capacity of dry filling materials in goaf have a significant influence on stope control and surface stability. Through acoustic emission monitoring and mechanical model analysis, a series of confined compression tests were conducted on crushed waste with varying particle sizes and Talbot coefficients. The deformation, fragmentation, and acoustic emission characteristics under corresponding working conditions were determined. The results indicate that the stress-strain curves of crushed stone with different particle sizes and Talbot coefficients exhibit similar nonlinear behavior during confined compression. However, the strain response varies with changing stress levels. By analyzing the slope change rate of the stress-strain curve, the lateral uniaxial compression process of waste rock can be divided into three deformation stages: rapid compression, stable crushing, and slow compaction. The compressive deformation characteristics of gravel differ based on particle size and Talbot coefficient. Specimens with a higher Talbot coefficient demonstrate stronger compressive resistance and weaker deformation resistance during initial compaction loading. Notably, the internal pressure structure strength is influenced by factors such as maximum particle size D, grading coefficient n, and particle size distribution continuity, rather than solely by the proportion of large particles. The evolution of acoustic emission signals and energy-time curve during waste rock confined axial compression synchronizes with the compaction process. Overall, compaction plays a critical role in maintaining the stability of goaf in dry crushed waste filling.

Gravitational wave telescope place extremely high demands on structural thermal deformation, making material selection a critical issue. Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) is an ideal choice for the support structure of telescope due to its low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and designable properties. However, current research on the optimization of the CTE of CFRP is scarce, and conventional methods struggle to find layups that meet the requirements. In this paper, an unconventional layup optimization method is proposed to solve this problem. Initially defining the characteristics of the telescope structure and using different layup material for the main and side support rods to minimize thermal deformation. Subsequently, the NSGA-II algorithm is used to optimize the layups which are divided into conventional and unconventional layups. Specimens are then produced from these results and tested to assess the impact of processing errors on practical applications. The results demonstrate that the optimized CFRP meet the CTE requirements and, when applied to the structure, significantly reduces the thermal deformation in the eccentric direction compared to conventional designs. Additionally, a numerical analysis evaluates the effect of ply orientation errors on the performance of unconventional layups, discussing the method's limitations within these contexts.

OBJECTIVE
This study aimed to provide a method for determining the apical vertebra for pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO) in corrective surgery for patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) with thoracolumbar kyphosis (TLK).
METHODS
The medical records of AS patients with TLK who underwent PSO between May 2009 and August 2022 were retrospectively reviewed, and 235 patients were included in the study. Using the proposed method, choosing the vertebra based on Kim's apex (KA), which is defined as the farthest vertebra from a line drawn from the center of the T10 vertebral body to the midpoint of the S1 upper endplate, the authors analyzed 229 patients with apices at T12, L1, or L2 (excluding L3 because of the small sample size, n = 6). They divided all patients into two groups. Group A (n = 144) underwent PSO at the KA vertebra, while group B (n = 85) underwent PSO at a different level. Demographic and radiological data, including sagittal spinopelvic parameters of the entire spine, were collected. An additional analysis was performed on patients with the same KA vertebra.
RESULTS
The vertebra distributions of patients based on KA were T12 (28 [12.2%]), L1 (119 [52.0%]), and L2 (82 [35.8%]). The corrections of sagittal vertical axis (SVA; 101.0 ± 48.5 mm vs 82.0 ± 53.8 mm, p = 0.010), global kyphosis (GK; 31.6° ± 10.0° vs 26.4° ± 10.5°, p = 0.005), and TLK (29.4° ± 10.2° vs 24.2° ± 12.9°, p = 0.012) in group A were significantly greater than those in group B, and there was no difference in the corrections of thoracic kyphosis (TK), lumbar lordosis, and pelvic incidence between the two groups. On further analysis, group A showed greater correction in TK (26.2° ± 13.7° vs 0.1° ± 8.1°, p = 0.013) for patients with T12 as the KA; greater improvements in SVA (101.5 ± 44.2 mm vs 73.4 ± 48.7 mm, p = 0.020), GK (30.6° ± 11.0° vs 25.0° ± 10.4°, p = 0.046), and TLK (32.6° ± 7.8° vs 26.7° ± 9.9°, p = 0.012) for those with L1 as the KA; and significant correction in TLK (30.0° ± 6.3° vs 4.3° ± 19.5°, p = 0.008) for patients with L2 as the KA, compared with group B.
CONCLUSIONS
PSO at the apical vertebra provides a greater degree of correction of sagittal imbalance. The proposed method, selecting the vertebra based on KA, is easily reproducible for determining the apex level in AS patients with TLK.

The shallowest regions of subduction megathrusts mainly deform aseismically, but they can sporadically host slow-slip events (SSEs) and tsunami earthquakes, thus representing a severe hazard. However, the mechanisms behind these remain enigmatic because the frictional properties of shallow subduction zones, usually rich in clay, do not allow earthquake slip according to standard friction theory. We present experimental data showing that clay-rich faults with bulk rate-strengthening behavior and null healing rate, typically associated with aseismic creep, can contemporaneously creep and nucleate SSE. Our experiments document slow ruptures occurring within thin shear zones, driven by structural and stress heterogeneities of the experimental faults. We propose that bulk rate-strengthening frictional behavior promotes long-term aseismic creep, whereas localized frictional shear allows slow rupture nucleation and quasi-dynamic propagation typical of rate-weakening behavior. Our results provide additional understanding of fault friction and illustrate the complex behavior of clay-rich faults, providing an alternative paradigm for interpretation of the spectrum of fault slip including SSEs and tsunami earthquakes.
