Adaptations of the immune system throughout gestation have been proposed as important mechanisms regulating successful pregnancy. Dysregulation of the maternal immune system has been associated with adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. To translate findings from mechanistic preclinical studies to human pregnancies, studies of serum immune markers are the mainstay. The design and interpretation of human biomarker studies require additional insights in the trajectories and drivers of peripheral immune markers. The current study mapped maternal inflammatory markers (C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-17A, IL-23, interferon- ) during pregnancy and investigated the impact of demographic, environmental and genetic drivers on maternal inflammatory marker levels in four multi-ethnic and socio-economically diverse population-based cohorts with more than 12,000 pregnant participants. Additionally, pregnancy inflammatory markers were compared to pre-pregnancy levels. Cytokines showed a high correlation with each other, but not with CRP. Inflammatory marker levels showed high variability between individuals, yet high concordance within an individual over time during and pre-pregnancy. Pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) explained more than 9.6% of the variance in CRP, but less than 1% of the variance in cytokines. The polygenic score of CRP was the best predictor of variance in CRP (>14.1%). Gestational age and previously identified inflammation drivers, including tobacco use and parity, explained less than 1% of variance in both cytokines and CRP. Our findings corroborate differential underlying regulatory mechanisms of CRP and cytokines and are suggestive of an individual inflammatory marker baseline which is, in part, genetically driven. While prior research has mainly focused on immune marker changes throughout pregnancy, our study suggests that this field could benefit from a focus on intra-individual factors, including metabolic and genetic components.

This study investigates the direct and indirect effects of maternal and sibling relational intimacy on adolescents' volunteering behaviors via their social responsibility values. Participants included two adolescents (50% female; age = 14 years) and one parent (85% female; age = 45 years) from 682 families ( = 2,046) from an ongoing longitudinal study. Adolescents self-reported their intimacy with mothers and siblings (Time 1), social responsibility values (Time 1), and volunteering (Times 1 and 2); parents reported on sociodemographic characteristics (i.e., gender, birth order, family income). Results from a structural equation model indicated that after accounting for adolescents' earlier volunteering, both maternal and sibling intimacy were indirectly related to greater volunteering via social responsibility values. There were no significant direct effects from maternal or sibling intimacy to adolescents' volunteering. Results indicate that both mothers and siblings are important in socializing prosocial and civic values and behaviors during adolescence.

Descriptive cross-sectional study to evaluate perception, attitude, and practice of parents regarding COVID-19 vaccination in children 10-12 years of age-A step toward prevention of future COVID-19 outbreaks in India.
PURPOSE
COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic and all age groups were equally affected. Coronavirus had devastating effects worldwide due to the emergence of new variants till vaccination was adopted to eradicate the transmission of the virus and restore normalcy. However, children were not included in the initial phase of vaccination. The purpose of the study was to assess the level of perception, attitude, and practice among parents toward the COVID-19 vaccination drive in children 10-12 years of age.
DESIGN AND STUDY
The present research is a cross-sectional questionnaire-based survey including parents of children aged 10-12 years as participants. The survey was conducted between May 2022 and July 2022 with a sample size of 320.
RESULTS
A high willingness (80%) among parents was found for getting their children vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccines were perceived to be safe by the parents (59%) and efficacious (75%) for their children. Parents (67%) felt that the benefits of getting their children vaccinated against COVID-19 prevail over the risks of the vaccine. Parents 214 (67%) feel the need of getting their child vaccinated for sending them to school followed by availing of daycare facilities after school 54 (17%) among working parents. A significant association ( < 0.05) was seen between the variables of practice being followed by parents and their children as per COVID-19 norms. Parent's negative attitude toward COVID-19 vaccination was associated with availability of no/unclear safety information (36%), fear of adverse effects of vaccine (3%), and false belief of having long-term immunity due to natural infection (32%). The positive attitude of parents was due to trust in positive information/news about the vaccine (42%), belief in the safety and efficacy of the vaccine (5%), acceptability for mild adverse effects (1%), and the necessity of vaccine to send children to schools (1%).
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The awareness of parents regarding COVID-19 vaccination for children was limited, high level of acceptance for vaccination was seen in our study. We recommend to continuing educational programs through mass campaigns to increase increasing awareness among parents for getting COVID-19 vaccination for their children. Vaccine hesitancy including vaccine safety concerns of parents should be addressed by presenting myths and facts related to COVID-19 vaccine using television, radio, and social media platforms.

Review
BACKGROUNDS
In an era of advanced maternal age, there is less conclusive evidence regarding the treatment outcomes of varicocele repair for assisted reproductive technology (ART). Progress in basic research on varicocele is notable whereas there are many clinically relevant points to discuss.
METHODS
Based on our experience with more than 2000 cases of microsurgical varicocele repair, we focused on the effectiveness of varicocele repair, pathophysiology, surgical approaches, contributions to ART, sperm DNA fragmentation, and varicocele-associated azoospermia in this review with the aim of identifying clearer directions for basic and clinical research on varicocele.
RESULTS
Microsurgical low ligation for varicocele repair is expected to remain the gold standard for surgical therapy. Based on the findings from a number of systematic reviews and meta-analyses, negative opinions regarding the efficacy of microsurgical varicocele repair in male infertility treatment have become virtually nonexistent. However, the majority of evidence regarding surgical indications and effectiveness pertains to improvements in semen parameters or non-ART pregnancy rates.
CONCLUSIONS
Further understandings regarding to pathophysiology of varicocele will likely be gained through comprehensive genetic, transcriptomic, and epigenetic analyses using blood and testicular samples from humans and we hope to develop new diagnostic methods and pharmacotherapy.

Review
Obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome (OAPS) is an autoimmune disorder associated with various pathological pregnancies, such as recurrent miscarriage, stillbirth, severe pre-eclampsia and severe placental insufficiency. The persistent presence of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) is the most important laboratory characteristic of OAPS. OAPS severely affects the reproductive health of women of childbearing age in China. Reports indicate that approximately 9.6% stillbirths, 11.5% severe pre-eclampsia, and 54% recurrent miscarriages are associated with OAPS or aPLs. However, the pathogenesis of OAPS remains unclear. Previously, thrombosis at the maternal-fetal interface (MFI) was considered the main mechanism of OAPS-related pathological pregnancies. Consequently, the use of low molecular weight heparin and aspirin throughout pregnancy was recommended to improve outcomes in OAPS patient. In recent years, many studies have found that thrombosis in MFI is uncommon, but various inflammatory factors are significantly increased in the MFI of OAPS patients. Based on these findings, some clinicians have started using anti-inflammatory treatments for OAPS, which have preliminarily improved the pregnancy outcomes. Nevertheless, there is no consensus on these second-line treatments of OAPS. Another troubling issue is the clinical diagnosis of OAPS. Similar to other autoimmune diseases, there are only classification criteria for OAPS, and clinical diagnosis of OAPS depends on the clinicians' experience. The present classification criteria of OAPS were established for clinical and basic research purposes, not for patient clinical management. In clinical practice, many patients with both positive aPLs and pathological pregnancy histories do not meet the strict OAPS criteria. This has led to widespread issues of incorrect diagnosis and treatment. Timely and accurate diagnosis of OAPS is crucial for effective treatment. In this article, we reviewed the epidemiological research progress on OAPS and summarized its classification principles, including: 1) the persistent presence of aPLs in circulation; 2) manifestations of OAPS, excluding other possible causes. For the first point, accurate assessment of aPLs is crucial; for the latter, previous studies regarded only placenta-related pregnancy complications as characteristic manifestations of OAPS. However, recent studies have indicated that adverse pregnancy outcomes related to trophoblast damage, such as recurrent miscarriage and stillbirth, also need to be considered in OAPS. We also discussed several key issues in the diagnosis and treatment of OAPS. First, we addressed the definition of non-standard OAPS and offered our opinion on defining non-standard OAPS within the framework of the 2023 American College of Rheumatology (ACR)/European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) APS criteria. Then, we discussed the advantages and disadvantages of different aPL testing methods, emphasizing that harmonizing results across platforms and establishing specific reference values are keys to resolving controversies in aPL testing results. We also introduced the application of non-criteria aPLs, especially anti-phosphatidylserine/prothrombin antibody (aPS/PT) and anti-β2 glycoprotein Ⅰ domain Ⅰ antibody (aβ2GPⅠDⅠ). Additionally, we discussed aPL-based OAPS risk classification strategies. Finally, we proposed potential treatment methods for refractory OAPS. The goal is to provide a reference for the clinical management of OAPS.

OBJECTIVE
Female fertility gradually decreases with the increase in women's age. The underlying reasons include the decline in the quantity and quality of oocytes. Oocyte aging is an important manifestation of the decline in oocyte quality, including oocyte aging before ovulation and oocyte aging after ovulation. Currently, few studies have been done to examine oocyte aging, and the relevant molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. Therefore, we used zebrafish as a model to investigate oocyte aging. Three different age ranges of female zebrafish were selected to mate with male zebrafish of the best breeding age. In this way, we studied the effects of maternal age-related oocyte aging on fertility and investigated the potential molecular mechanisms behind maternal age-related fertility decline.
METHODS
Eight female zebrafish aged between 158 and 195 d were randomly selected for the 6-month age group (180±12) d, 8 female zebrafish aged between 330 and 395 d were randomly selected for the 12-month age group (360±22) d, and 8 female zebrafish aged between 502 and 583 d were randomly selected for the 18-month age group (540±26) d. Male zebrafish of (180±29) d were randomly selected from zebrafish aged between 158 and 195 d and mated with female zebrafish in each group. Each mating experiment included 1 female zebrafish and 1 male zebrafish. Zebrafish embryos produced by the mating experiments were collected and counted. The embryos at 4 hours post-fertilization were observed under the microscope, the total number of embryos and the number of unfertilized embryos were counted, and the fertilization rate was calculated accordingly. The numbers of malformed embryos and dead embryos were counted 24 hours after fertilization, and the rates of embryo malformation and mortality were calculated accordingly. The primary outcome measure was the embryo fertilization rate, and the secondary outcome measures were the number of embryos per spawn (the total number of embryos laid within 1.5 hours after the beginning of mating and reproduction of the zebrafish), embryo mortality, and embryo malformation rate. The outcome measures of each group were compared. The blastocyst embryos of female zebrafish from each group born after mating with male zebrafish in their best breeding period were collected for transcriptomics analysis. Fresh oocytes of female zebrafish in each group were collected for transcriptomics analysis to explore the potential molecular mechanisms of maternal age-related fertility decline.
RESULTS
Compared with that of the 6-month group (94.9%±3.6%), the embryo fertilization rate of the 12-month group (92.3%±4.2%) showed no significant difference, but that of the 18-month group (86.8%±5.5%) decreased significantly (<0.01). In addition, the fertilization rate in the 18-month group was significantly lower than that in the 12-month group (<0.05). Compared with that of the 6-month group, the embryo mortality of the female zebrafish in the 12-month group and that in the 18-month group were significantly higher than that in the 6-month group (<0.000 1, <0.001). There was no significant difference in the number of embryos per spawn or in the embryo malformation rate among the three groups. The results of the transcriptomics analysis of blastocyst embryos showed that some genes, including , , , , a, , , , etc, were differentially expressed in the 12-month group or the 18-month group compared with their expression levels in the 6-month group. According to the KEGG enrichment analysis, these differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were significantly enriched in the MAPK signaling pathway, the phosphatidylinositol signaling system, and the fatty acid degradation and histidine metabolism pathway (<0.05). The analysis of the expression trends of the genes expressed differentially among the three groups (the 6-month group, the 12-month group, and the 18-month group in turn) showed that the gene expression trends of , , , and , which were involved in Fanconi anemia pathway, were statistically significant (<0.05). In the results of oocyte transcriptomics analysis, the genes that were differentially expressed in the 12-month group or the 18-month group compared with the 6-month group were mainly enriched in cell adhesion molecules and the protein digestion and absorption pathway (<0.05). The results of the trends of gene expression in the zebrafish oocytes of the three groups (the 6-month group, the 12-month group, and the 18-month group in turn) showed that three kinds of gene expression trends of declining fertility with growing maternal age had significant differences (<0.05). Further analysis of the three significantly differential expression trends showed 51 DEGs related to mitochondria and 5 DEGs related to telomere maintenance and DNA repair, including , , , , etc.
CONCLUSION
With the increase in the maternal age of the zebrafish, the embryo fertilization rate decreased significantly and the embryo mortality increased significantly. In addition, with the increase in the maternal age of the zebrafish, the expression of mitochondria and telomere-related genes, such as , , , and , in female zebrafish oocytes decreased gradually. Maternal age may be a factor contributing to the decrease in oocyte fertilization ability and the increase in early embryo mortality. Maternal age-related oocyte aging affects the fertility and embryo development of the offspring.

Review
There is a global trend of declining fertility among people of childbearing age and mankind is confronted with great challenges of fertility problems. As a result, fertility preservation technology has emerged. Fertility preservation involves interventions and procedures aimed at preserving the patients' chances of having children when their fertility may have been impaired by their medical conditions or the treatments thereof, for example, chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy for cancer. The changes in patients' fertility can be temporary or permanent damage. Fertility preservation can help people diagnosed with cancer or other non-malignant diseases. More and more fertility preservation methods are being used to preserve the fertility of cancer patients and protect their reproductive organs from gonadotoxicity. Fertility preservation may be appropriate for young patients with early-stage cancers and good prognosis before they undergo treatments (chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy) that can negatively affect their fertility. It is also appropriate for patients with chronic conditions or those who have encountered environmental exposures that affect their gonadal function. Fertility preservation methods include oocyte cryopreservation, embryo cryopreservation, and ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC) for women and sperm freezing and testicular tissue freezing for men. The survival rates of children and adolescents diagnosed with malignant tumors have been steadily increasing as a result of advances in cancer treatments. Cryopreservation of oocytes and sperm is recognized as a well-established and successful strategy for fertility preservation in pubertal patients. OTC is the sole option for prepubertal girls. On the other hand, cryopreservation of immature testicular tissue remains the only alternative for prepubertal boys, but the technology is still in the experimental stage. A review showed that the utilization rate of cryopreserved semen ranged from 2.6% to 21.5%. In the case of cryopreserved female reproductive materials, the utilization rate ranged from 3.1% to 8.7% for oocytes, approximately from 9% to 22.4% for embryos, and from 6.9% to 30.3% for ovarian tissue. When patients have needs for fertility treatment, cryopreserved vitrified oocytes are resuscitated and fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) was performed to help patients accomplish their reproductive objectives, with the live birth rate (LBR) being 32%. On the other hand, when cryopreserved embryos are resuscitated and transferred, the LBR was 41%. OTC has the advantage of restoring natural fertility and presents a LBR of 33%, compared with the LBR of 19% among 266 IVF patients. In addition, OTC has the benefit of restoring the endocrine function. It has been observed that the shortest recovery time of the first menstruation after transplantation was 3.9 months, and the recovery rate of ovarian function reached 100%. To date, a growing number of cancer survivors and patients with other diseases are benefiting from fertility preservation measures. In the face of declining human fertility, fertility preservation provides a new approach to human reproduction. Fertility preservation should be applied in line with the ethical principles so as to fully protect the rights and interests of patients and their offsprings.

OBJECTIVE
The aim of this study is to explore the practical value of prenatal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the assessment of congenital cystic lung disease in fetuses, to evaluate the relative size of the lesion and the status of lung development, and to make an attempt at utilizing the strength of MRI in post-processing to obtain assessment indicators of the size of the lesion and the status of lung development, with which predictions can be made for the prognosis that these fetuses may face after birth. We retrospectively collected and analyzed the data of fetuses diagnosed with congenital cystic lung disease. Prenatal ultrasound examination of these fetuses led to the diagnosis that they were suspected of having congenital cystic lung disease and the diagnosis was confirmed by subsequent prenatal MRI. The fetuses were followed up to track their condition at birth (postnatal respiratory distress, mechanical ventilation, etc.), whether the fetuses underwent surgical treatment, and the recovery of the fetuses after surgical treatment. The recovery of the fetuses was followed up to explore the feasibility of prenatal MRI examination to assess fetal congenital pulmonary cystic disease, and to preliminarily explore the predictive value of prenatal MRI for the prognosis of fetuses with congenital pulmonary cystic disease.
METHODS
MRI fetal images were collected from pregnant women who attended the West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University between May 2018 and March 2023 and who were diagnosed with fetal congenital pulmonary cystic disease by prenatal ultrasound and subsequent MRI. Fetal MRI images of congenital cystic lung disease were post-processed to obtain the fetal lung lesion volume, the fetal affected lung volume, the healthy lung volume, and the fetal head circumference measurements. The signal intensity of both lungs and livers, the lesion volume/the affected lung volume, the lesion volume/total lung volume, the cystic volume ratio (CVR), and the bilateral lung-liver signal intensity ratio were measured. The feasibility and value of MRI post-processing acquisition indexes for evaluating the prognosis of fetuses with congenital cystic lung disease were further analyzed by combining the follow-up results obtained 6 months after the birth of the fetus. Logistic regression models were used to quantify the differences in maternal age, gestational week at the time of MRI, CVR, and bilateral lung-to-liver signal intensity ratio, and to assess whether these metrics correlate with poor prognosis. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to assess the value of the parameters obtained by MRI calculations alone and in combination with multiple metrics for predicting poor prognosis after birth.
RESULTS
We collected a total of 67 cases of fetuses diagnosed with congenital cystic lung disease by fetal MRI between May 2018 and March 2023, and excluded 6 cases with no normal lung tissue in the affected lungs, 11 cases of fetal induction, and 3 cases of loss of pregnancy. In the end, 47 cases of fetuses with congenital cystic lung disease were included, of which 30 cases had a good prognosis and 17 cases had a poor prognosis. The difference in the difference between the signal intensity ratios of the affected and healthy sides of the lungs and livers of the fetuses in the good prognosis group and that in the poor prognosis group was statistically significant (<0.05), and the signal intensity ratio of the healthy side of the lungs and livers was higher than the signal intensity ratio of the affected side of the lungs and livers. Further analysis showed that CVR (odds ratio [OR]=1.058, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.014-1.104), and the difference between the lung-to-liver signal intensity ratios of the affected and healthy sides (OR=0.814, 95% CI: 0.700-0.947) were correlated with poor prognosis of birth in fetuses with congenital cystic lung disease. In addition, ROC curve analysis showed that the combined application of lesion volume/affected lung volume and the observed difference in the signal intensity ratio between the affected and healthy lungs and liver predicted the prognosis of children with congenital cystic lung disease more accurately than the single-parameter judgment did, with the area under the curve being 0.988, and the cut-off value being 0.33, which corresponded to a sensitivity of 100%, a specificity of 93.3%, and a 95% CI of 0.966-1.000.
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the MRI of fetuses with congenital cystic lung disease, we obtained information on lesion volume, lesion volume/affected lung volume, lesion volume/total lung volume, CVR, and bilateral lung-to-liver signal intensity ratio difference, all of which showing some clinical value in predicting the poor prognosis in fetuses with congenital cystic lung disease. Furthermore, among the combined indexes, the lesion volume/affected lung volume and bilateral lung-to-liver signal intensity ratio difference are more effective predictors for the poor prognosis of fetuses with congenital cystic lung disease, and show better efficacy in predicting the poor prognosis of fetuses with congenital cystic lung disease. This provides a new and effective predictive method for further assessment of pulmonary lung development in fetuses with congenital cystic lung disease, and helps improve the assessment and prediction of the prognosis of fetuses with congenital cystic lung disease.

OBJECTIVE
Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) presents a formidable challenge for individuals undergoing fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET), forming both a clinical dilemma and a focal point for scientific inquiry. This study endeavors to investigate the intricate interplay between clinical features, such as age, body mass index (BMI), and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), and routine laboratory parameters, including sex hormones, blood composition, liver and thyroid functions, thyroid antibodies, and coagulation indicators, in RPL patients undergoing IVF-ET. By meticulously analyzing these variables, we aim to uncover the latent risk factors predisposing individuals to RPL. Identifying potential factors such as advanced maternal age, obesity, and insulin resistance will provide clinicians with vital insights and empirical evidence to strengthen preventive strategies aimed at reducing miscarriage recurrence.
METHODS
This retrospective case-controlled study included RPL patients who underwent IVF-ET treatment at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, between January 2012 and March 2021 as the case cohort, compared with women receiving assisted reproductive treatment due to male infertility as the control cohort. The fasting peripheral blood was collected 5 days before the first menstrual cycle at least 12 weeks after the last abortion. The clinical characteristics and relevant laboratory indexes of the two groups were compared. Employing both univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses, we sought to unearth potential high-risk factors underlying RPL. Additionally, a linear trend analysis was conducted to assess the linear relationship between total testosterone (TT) levels and the number of miscarriages.
RESULTS
In contrast to the control cohort, the RPL cohort exhibited significant increases in age, BMI, and WHR (<0.05). Notably, TT levels were markedly lower in the RPL cohort (=0.022), while no significant differences were observed between the two groups concerning basal follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, estradiol, progesterone, prolactin levels, and anti-Müllerian hormone levels (>0.05). Moreover, fasting insulin (FINS) levels and HOMA-IR index were notably elevated in the RPL cohort relative to the control cohort (<0.001), although no significant differences were observed in fasting blood glucose levels (>0.05). Furthermore, the neutrophil (NEU) count and NEU-to-lymphocyte ratio were notably higher in the RPL cohort (<0.01). Univariate logistic regression analysis identified several factors, including age≥35 years old, BMI≥25 kg/m, WHR>0.8, FINS>10 mU/L, HOMA-IR>2.14, NEU count>6.3×10 L, and an elevated NEU/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), as significantly increasing the risk of RPL (<0.05). Although TT levels were within the normal range for both cohorts, higher TT levels were associated with a diminished RPL risk (odds ratio [OR]=0.67, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.510-0.890, =0.005). After adjustments for confounding factors, age≥35 years old (OR=1.91, 95% CI: 1.06-3.43), WHR>0.8 (OR=2.30, 95% CI: 1.26-4.19), and FINS>10 mU/L (OR=4.50, 95% CI: 1.30-15.56) emerged as potent risk factors for RPL (<0.05). Conversely, higher TT levels were associated with a reduced RPL risk (OR=0.59, 95% CI: 0.38-0.93, =0.023). Furthermore, the linear trend analysis unveiled a discernible linear association between TT levels and the number of miscarriages ( =0.003), indicating a declining trend in TT levels with escalating miscarriage occurrences.
CONCLUSION
In patients undergoing IVF-ET, advanced maternal age, lower TT levels, increased WHR, and elevated FINS levels emerged as potent risk factors for RPL. These findings provide clinicians with valuable insights and facilitate the identification of patients who are at high risks and the formulation of preventive strategies to reduce the recurrence of miscarriages.

OBJECTIVE
To determine the humoral immunity in advanced maternal-age women with recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA).
METHODS
A retrospective study was performed between January 2022 and October 2023 in the Department of Reproductive Immunity of Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital. Women with RSA were recruited and multiple autoantibodies were tested. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to compare the associations between different age groups (20 to 34 years old in the low maternal-age group and 35 to 45 years in the advanced maternal-age group) and multiple autoantibodies, while controlling for three confounding factors, including body mass index (BMI), previous history of live birth, and the number of spontaneous abortions. Then, we investigated the differences in the humoral immunity of advanced maternal-age RSA women and low maternal-age RSA women.
RESULT
A total of 4009 women with RSA were covered in the study. Among them, 1158 women were in the advanced maternal-age group and 2851 women were in the low maternal-age group. The prevalence of antiphospholipid syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and undifferentiated connective tissue disease was 15.6% and 14.1%, 0.0% and 0.1%, 0.9% and 0.9%, 0.3% and 0.0%, and 23.7% and 22.6% in the advanced maternal-age group and low maternal-age group, respectively, showing no statistical difference between the two groups. The positive rates of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs), antinuclear antibody (ANA), extractable nuclear antigen (ENA) antibody, anti-double stranded DNA (dsDNA) antibody, anti single-stranded DNA (ssDAN) antibody, antibodies against alpha-fodrin (AAA), and thyroid autoimmunity (TAI) were 19.1% and 19.5%, 6.6% and 6.6%, 9.2% and 10.5%, 2.0% and 2.0%, 2.2% and 1.2%, 5.1% and 4.9%, and 17.8% and 16.8%, respectively. No differences were observed between the two groups. 1.6% of the women in the advanced maternal-age group tested positive for lupus anticoagulant (LA), while 2.7% of the women in the low maternal-age group were LA positive, with the differences being statistically significant (odds ratio=0.36, 95% confidence interval: 0.17-0.78). In the 4008 RSA patients, the cumulative cases tested positive for the three antibodies of the aPLs spectrum were 778, of which 520 cases were positive for anti-β2 glycoprotein Ⅰ antibodies (β2GPⅠ Ab)-IgG/IgM, 58 were positive for aCL-IgG/IgM, 73 were positive for LA, 105 were positive for both β2GPⅠ Ab-IgG/IgM and aCL-IgG/IgM, 17 were positive for both β2GPⅠ Ab-IgG/IgM and LA, 2 were positive for both aCL-IgG/IgM and LA, and 3 were positive for all three antibodies.
CONCLUSION
Our study did not find a difference in humoral immunity between RSA women of advanced maternal age and those of low maternal age.
