OBJECTIVE
Presently, ovarian cancer remains the leading cause of death in gynecological malignancies. The survival rate of these patients is low, which might be caused by early metastases and delayed diagnosis. Therefore, it is crucial to investigate novel practical markers that provide early prognostic value which helps construct individualized treatment.
METHODS
A thorough investigation of the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in ovarian cancer patients was conducted using article selection from PubMed, Cochrane, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases. The outcomes and hazard ratio (HR) were obtained using Review Manager 5.4, and the 95% Confidence Interval (CI) result was calculated. The chief endpoints of interest in this study include overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS).
RESULTS
Sixteen studies with 3,862 patients were included with a mean age of 50.6 years and a mean follow-up of 45.84 months. Multivariate studies demonstrated that a higher NLR is associated with worse PFS and OS, HR 1.35;95% CI [1.05-1.74] and HR 1.46; 95% CI [1.16-1.83] respectively. Similar results are observed with PLR and poorer PFS and OS, HR 1.62; 95% CI [1.09-2.43] and HR 1.66; 95% CI [1.12-2.46].
CONCLUSION
Pre-treatment PLR and NLR were found to be prognostic factors in determining PFS and OS in ovarian cancer. High values in pre-treatment PLR and NLR may indicate worse clinical outcomes.

BACKGROUND
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a leading cause of childhood blindness worldwide. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are crucial in ROP management. Thus, the identification of prominent risk factors could facilitate immediate action. Among various risk factors, the effects of mode of delivery on ROP remain unclear. Therefore, this study aims to assess the association between different modes of delivery on ROP incidence.
METHODS AND ANALYSIS
Comprehensive literature search was conducted on PubMed, ProQuest, EBSCOHost and Cochrane databases, to evaluate the association of mode of delivery-vaginal delivery or caesarean section (c-section)-and the incidence of ROP from inception to December 2023. Random-effects meta-analysis was performed to estimate the pooled OR along with their 95% CIs.
RESULTS
This review included 5 cohort studies involving 2048 babies. A higher incidence of ROP was observed in infants born through vaginal delivery compared with caesarean section. Meta-analysis showed that C-section decreased the unadjusted odds of having ROP infants by 46% with low heterogeneity (OR 0.54 (95% CI 0.40 to 0.73); I=40.73%). However, pooled adjusted effects were statistically insignificant with moderate heterogeneity (adjusted OR 0.59 (95% CI 0.28 to 1.23); I=70.51%), possibly stemming from multiple variations in the controlled variables of each study.
CONCLUSION
Despite varying statistical significance, our findings underscore the crucial need to comprehend the influence of delivery mode on neonatal ophthalmic outcomes. Due to a limited number of existing studies, further research is needed to confirm the association.

INTRODUCTION
Tuberculosis is a contagious bacterial disease caused by . The emergence and spread of drug-resistant strains of in both developing and developed countries has made diagnosis, treatment, and control of tuberculosis more difficult. The PCR assay, which is a fast and sensitive technique and an alternative method for detecting multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, is used to determine rifampicin (RIF) resistance. There is no single figure in Ethiopia that represents rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis and that is why this study was conducted to overcome the inconsistency of the results of the previous studies.
METHODS
Studies were researched from five major electronic databases. Studies which were cross-sectional in design, published, and written in English were included. The data were extracted using Microsoft Excel, and the data were managed and analyzed using Stata™ Version 17.0 statistical software. The Forest plot was used to check the presence of heterogeneity. The publication bias, meta-regression, and subgroup analysis were used to find out the source of heterogeneity. A random effect analysis model was used to pool the prevalence of RR TB from primary studies, and associated factors of RR among TB patients were identified using Meta regression. The presence of association was reported using OR with 95% CI.
RESULTS
The overall pooled prevalence of tuberculosis was 14.9% (95% CI: 13.34, 16.46), of these approximately 7.48% (95% CI: 6.30, 8.66) showed rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis in Ethiopia. Among the computed variables, 2.05% living with HIV1.39 (95%CI: 1.13, 1.72) and having a history of TB treatment (95%CI: 1.34, 3.15) were identified as significant factors associated with RR TB in Ethiopia.
CONCLUSION
Drug-resistant TB is one of the prevalent emerging infectious diseases among TB patients, which affects approximately one out of every thirteen TB patients. Having TB-HIV coinfection and a history of prior TB treatment were identified as significant factors associated with RR TB. To prevent and control RR TB, patients should complete their follow-up course; the health professionals should educate the actions taken by the patients when they experience drug toxicity and side effects; and the Minister of Health should initiate telemedicine and recruit tracers to overcome TB patients' default and have good drug adherence and retention after initiation of the treatment.

How Can We Address What We Do Not Measure? A Systematic Scoping Review of the Measurement and Operationalization of Social Determinants of Health Research on Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive among Adolescents in the US.
Teen pregnancy is often considered an adverse health outcome that accentuates gender inequities, diminishes opportunities, and jeopardizes the safety of adolescent and young adult birthing people. Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARC) have been hailed as a panacea for teen pregnancy. However, adolescents and emerging adults intersect with multiple assaults on their health and well-being due to gender inequity and racism. To establish equitable care, it is imperative to discern all barriers that influence their reproductive autonomy. This study evaluates the measurement, operationalization, and quality of research conducted on adolescents and emerging adults that analyzed the use of LARC within the social determinant of health framework (SDOH) in the US. SDOH were assessed using the Dahlgren and Whitehead model, and reports were analyzed using a modified version of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal tools. Nineteen articles were included in this study. Researchers found the insufficient measurement of race, ethnicity, sexuality, and gender among studies on LARC and SDOH in adolescents and emerging adults. Future studies must measure a full range of identities in data collection to generate knowledge on the impact of SDOH and LARC use among diverse populations.

High-intensity Focused Ultrasound is a Better Choice for Women with Fertility Desire: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of the Comparison between High-intensity Focused Ultrasound and Laparoscopic Treatment of Uterine Fibroids.
High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is commonly used to treat uterine fibroids and adenomyosis, but there is no evidence using metadata to compare fertility outcomes between conventional laparoscopic procedures and HIFU. The purpose of this study analysis is that evidence-based fertility outcomes may provide better treatment options for clinicians and patients considering fertility. The literature on fertility data for HIFU surgery versus laparoscopic myomectomy was searched in seven English language databases from January 1, 2010, to November 23, 2022. A total of 1375 articles were received in the literature, 14 of which were selected. We found that women who underwent HIFU surgery had higher rates of spontaneous pregnancy, higher rates of spontaneous delivery, and higher rates of full-term delivery but may have higher rates of miscarriage or postpartum complications than women who underwent laparoscopic myomectomy. Looking forward to future studies, it is hoped that the literature will examine endometrial differences in women who undergo HIFU and laparoscopic myomectomy to demonstrate the ability of endometrial repair. The location of fibroids in the sample should also be counted to allow for attribution statistics on the cause of miscarriage.

BACKGROUND
Endometriosis presents a significant challenge in gynecological endocrinology, affecting approximately 1 in 10 women of reproductive age. Abdominal wall endometriosis (AWE) and rectosigmoid deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) pose unique clinical complexities. High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) has emerged as a novel alternative for treating these conditions, offering a noninvasive option with potential therapeutic benefits.
METHODS
A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines to investigate the safety and efficacy of HIFU therapy for AWE and rectosigmoid DIE. The literature search encompassed databases from inception to January 20, 2024. Eligible studies included observational studies, case reports, and clinical trials evaluating HIFU treatment for endometriosis. Data extraction and risk of bias assessment were performed following established protocols.
RESULTS
Fourteen studies were included, comprising 330 patients with AWE and 28 patients with rectosigmoid DIE. HIFU treatment demonstrated significant efficacy, with many patients experiencing complete remission, and clinical effectiveness. Reductions in lesion volume posttreatment were consistent across studies. However, safety concerns were noted, including pain at the treatment site, hematuria, and skin burns. Adverse effects underscored the importance of careful patient selection and monitoring during HIFU therapy.
CONCLUSION
HIFU therapy shows promise as a noninvasive approach for managing AWE and rectosigmoid DIE. While efficacy outcomes are encouraging, safety considerations warrant attention. Further research, particularly randomized controlled trials with larger sample sizes, is needed to validate findings and optimize treatment protocols.

Diagnosing endometrial carcinoma correctly is essential for appropriate treatment, as it is a major health risk. As machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) have grown in popularity, so has interest in their potential to improve cancer diagnosis accuracy. In the context of endometrial cancer, this study attempts to examine the efficacy as well as the accuracy of AI-assisted diagnostic approaches. Additionally, it aims to methodically evaluate the contribution of AI and ML techniques to the improvement of endometrial cancer diagnosis. Following PRISMA guidelines, we performed a thorough search of numerous databases, including Medline via Ovid, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Ten years were searched, encompassing both basic and advanced research. Peer-reviewed papers and original research studies that explicitly looked at the application of AI/ML in endometrial cancer diagnosis were the main targets of the well-defined selection criteria. Using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) methodology, two independent researchers conducted a thorough screening process and quality assessment of included studies. The review found a notable inclination towards the effective use of AI in endometrial carcinoma diagnostics, namely in the identification and categorization of endometrial cancer. Artificial intelligence models, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and deep learning algorithms have shown remarkable precision in detecting endometrial cancer. They frequently achieve or even exceed the diagnostic proficiency of human specialists. The use of artificial intelligence in medical diagnostics signifies revolutionary progress in the field of oncology. AI-assisted diagnostic tools have demonstrated the potential to improve the precision and effectiveness of cancer diagnosis, namely in cases of endometrial carcinoma. This innovation not only enhances the quality of patient care but also indicates a transition towards more individualized and efficient treatment approaches in the field of oncology. The advancement of AI technology is expected to play a crucial role in medical diagnostics, particularly in the field of cancer detection and treatment, perhaps leading to a significant transformation in the approach to these areas.

Cesarean delivery is associated with lower neonatal mortality among breech pregnancies - a systematic review and meta-analysis of preterm deliveries ≤32 weeks of gestation.
OBJECTIVE
To investigate the association between actual and planned modes of delivery, neonatal mortality, and short-term outcomes among preterm pregnancies ≤32 weeks of gestation.
DATA SOURCES
A systematic literature search was conducted in three main databases (PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) from inception to November 16, 2022. The protocol was registered in advance in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (CRD42022377870).
STUDY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Eligible studies examined pregnancies ≤ 32nd gestational week. All infants received active care, and the outcomes were reported separately by different modes of delivery. Singleton and twin pregnancies at vertex and breech presentations were included. Studies that included pregnancies complicated with preeclampsia and abruptio placentae were excluded. Primary outcomes were neonatal mortality and intraventricular hemorrhage.
STUDY APPRAISAL AND SYNTHESIS METHODS
Articles were selected by title, abstract, and full text, and disagreements were resolved by consensus. Random effects model-based odds ratios with corresponding 95% confidence intervals were calculated for dichotomous outcomes. ROBINS-I was used to assess the risk of bias.
RESULTS
A total of nineteen observational studies were included involving a total of 16,042 preterm infants in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Actual cesarean delivery improves survival (odds ratio, 0.62; 95% confidence interval, 0.42 to 0.9) and decreases the incidence of intraventricular hemorrhage (odds ratio, 0.70; confidence interval, 0.57 to 0.85) compared to vaginal delivery. Planned cesarean delivery does not improve the survival of very and extremely preterm infants compared to vaginal delivery (odds ratio, 0.87; 95% confidence interval, 0.53 to 1.44). Subset analysis found significantly lower odds of death for singleton breech preterm deliveries born by both planned (odds ratio, 0.56; 95% confidence interval, 0.32 to 0.98) and actual (odds ratio, 0.34; 95% confidence interval, 0.13 to 0.88) cesarean delivery.
CONCLUSION
Cesarean delivery should be the mode of delivery for preterm ≤32 weeks of gestation breech births due to the higher mortality in preterm infants born via vaginal delivery.

BACKGROUND
Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) during pregnancy is a rare condition and has not been much studied. The study aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the risk factors, complications, and treatment modalities for SSNHL in pregnant women.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, ProQuest, and Google Scholar were used for the literature search. The Cochrane technique for assessing risk of bias was used for the article quality appraisal, and RevMan 5.4 was used for conducting the meta-analysis. Standard mean difference (SMD) and odds ratios with a 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were utilized. Heterogeneity and publication bias were assessed using the I-square (I2) test statistic and the Egger's test, respectively.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The seven primary studies employed prospective and retrospective study designs. The meta-analysis showed that there were fewer risk variables for SSNHL in the experimental group compared with those in the control group (SMD = -0.45 to 3.24, 95% CI = -3.063.63 to 2.16-2.85), indicating that the analysis revealed an insignificant difference. However, the treated patients presented hearing improvement, suggesting a significant analysis (SMD = -0.6710.20, 95% CI = -1.2713.51 to -0.066.88). Furthermore, after therapy, substantial differences were observed in SMD between the two groups (SMD = -0.7415.18, 95% CI = -1.2423.85 to -0.256.40) in favor of the experimental group patients, based on the analysis results of four included studies. However, the I2-value of 0% showed that the heterogeneity was low.
CONCLUSION
SSNHL during pregnancy is a notably rare condition with an unknown cause. However, hormonal fluctuations, particularly increased levels of estrogen and progesterone during pregnancy, have been frequently implicated as potential triggers for SSNHL.

The etiology of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is complex and multifactorial and in half of patients it remains unexplained (U-RPL). Recently, low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) has gained increasing relevance for its therapeutic potential. On this regard, the aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to analyze the efficacy of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) from the beginning of pregnancy in terms of live birth rates (LBR) in U-RPL. Registered randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included. We stratified findings based on relevant clinical factors including number of previous miscarriages, treatment type and control type. Intervention or exposure was defined as the administration of LMWH alone or in combination with low-dose aspirin (LDA). A total of 6 studies involving 1016 patients were included. The meta-analysis results showed that LMWH used in the treatment of U-RPL was not associated with an increase in LBR with a pooled OR of 1.01, a medium heterogeneity (26.42%) and no publication bias. Results of other sub-analyses according to country, treatment type, and control type showed no significant effect of LMWH on LBR in all subgroups, with a high heterogeneity. The results highlight a non-significant effect of LMWH in U-RPL on LBR based on moderate quality evidence.Registration number: PROSPERO: ( https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?ID=CRD42022326433 ).
